    Of course we were talking about Carriacou, an island which is part of Grenada and not the island of Curaçao which is completely different.

      LOL, I see that many people have corrected the Curacao name into Carriacou. I live in Curacao and am happy to say that we hardly ever get hurricanes here. Great place to hide for the hurricane season.

    No boat should be allowed in or out of a harbor unless the ownership of the vessel is clearly known. What if the boat damaged property. Who's responsible? This hidden owner crap has to stop.

    I worked in Curacao many years ago. The work I was doing was on the SW side of the island, there was a big dock with a fort nearby and behind that fort was a huge protected area that a lot of yachts and sailboats were moored at.
    And at the capitol city, there was an inlet with another huge protected bay that many boats, yachts and cruise ships were always moored or docked.
    We moved our work down there because the island rarely takes a direct hit from hurricanes, they get bands of rain and wind. It is like a desert in the middle of the ocean, so the residents probably would love the rain.
    It is a very interesting island. Beautiful, lots of cactus and scorpions.

    I don't think Curacao was affected by the hurricane. The island of Carriacou, which is part of Grenada and north of the main island, was completely devastated by Hurricane Beryl. Also Petite Martiniuqe, Grenada, and islands of St Vincent and the Grenadines. It's great to see at least one billionaire help out with the super yacht and crew.

    Now i see why its smart to charter. 80 mil yacht would cost annually ~8 mil for upkeep. Its around 700k to charter for a week. Thats almost 11 weeks of charter for 8 mil. No one spends that much time in a yacht. So makes sense just to charter few times a year.

    • @danb2529
      @danb2529 Месяц назад +2

      Although expect to double your charter fee once you add on fuel costs, taxes, port fees, berth fees, tip for the crew etc, etc. At least 1.4m / week. No that sort of stuff is not included in the charter price.

      Fume all you want. This is standard procedure in many areas of life: you abandon your property somewhere, the owner of that "somewhere" (often the state) can petition a court to transfer ownership and then use the sale price to repair any damage. For example a sign at the parking lot of my workplace warns you that they will remove and sell your car if it stays for more than a certain number of weeks or if it leaks oil/gas.

      No in my opinion that's quite fair. They'll have to do a lot of expensive legal work in multiple countries, bank transactions, safety inspections, and lots and lots of paperwork. I can easily see the cost of this transaction approach this number. There were probably a hand full of lawyers, a couple of consultants and several assistants working on this for weeks, not even mentioning hundreds of fees for filing paperwork and expensive ads to reach potential customers.

    When have FACTS prevented a news agency from publishing a good story? It is a source of significant irritation to me - I will readily admit that it pisses me off. If that is a strike for foul language, I apologize. I have said for awhile that you are the ultimate professional journalist and I have wondered if it is a subject you once studied. I did (study journalism) but never seriously or to pursue. The irresponsibly published subjects in almost every news agency drive me nuts! For some time, I have followed only the New York Times and BBC News. I haven’t turned a TV on in years, until a week ago for 5 minutes. CNN was good but ignorant of proper grammar and no longer interested in the facts. It’s a huge problem and 100% responsible for the division in the US. In the last year, I have personally watched the NYT do what they can to diminish the current US President and built up a FORMER US President. The NYT alongside Trump!?! Yup. Free advertising? Probably not and it is not just one reporter or OPED writer. So they lost my overlong patronage. I can only hope the BBC has not fallen into the insanity, and being an American, I don’t have all the tools I need to know when they tell an untruth. I won’t list the news agencies I won’t watch or read but I wouldn’t mind if someone who really knows might recommend a professional news out let so that I keep more than one source? Spare me your favorite gossip rag, please. When/if you start doing international news that you encounter, my problem will be solved. No, I am not sucking up. To what gain? A weekend on the yacht he’s working on? Please. If such a thing were allowed and he had little concern for his reputation, it would NOT be some old lady. No. Just calling it as I see it.
