lyrics
we, we wanna swim the deepest depths of oblivion
we wanna know that the gods have us in control
we see the cards and we go to fold
we play along but it soon grows old
they took the ark and sold it all for parts
they’ve got a fist full of fucking gold
a return on the souls they sold
do you remember who we are?
these tyrants will build an abyss
but the rest of us wish to exist
we’re hiding like a shadow in the dark
in the dark
be the change that you wanna see
no not like that
it’s a risk we can all agree
fuck the fucking facts
but it bleeds right in front of me
we’re under attack
yeah, we all know that these rights are holy
we’re never gonna leave this shell
let’s hope your gold don’t fail you now
save us a special place in hell
you’re the reason that our hearts ache
deep fake
we are one and the fucking same
we see the cards and we go to fold
we play along but it soon grows old
we took the ark and sold it all for parts
they’ve got a fist full of fucking gold
a return on the souls they sold
do you remember who we are?
these tyrants will build an abyss
but the rest of us wish to exist
we’re fighting with a shadow in the dark

oh... my god. this slapped hard.

Love your videos btw
No it didn't. This band is crap now.
No its not
@alexhefner i agree bruv. 😁🤘🏻
Let Josh do more backing vocals hes so sick
You should check his band sylosis if you haven't 👍
@@28prez this
@@28prez thankyou in advance! Just subbed, can't wait to check his band out!
So at last he rescued 2 bands ;)
@@28prez y'know what I love, that sylosis' drummer is Ali from Bleed From Within, another fucking fantastic band.
I LOVE the dual vocals between Sam & Josh in the second verse. I’ve been waiting so long for this! Incredible
I just love whatever Architects is doing with their music.
…Architects is the best !!! But you need to listen to Glory by SLT right now 🤘!!! You’re missing out !!! !!! !!!
no
their music reminds me of homosexual mating
Thank yoooooou somebody that accept them, whatever they do! Like me! ❤
I am definitely a fan of the older style. All Our Gods and Holy Hell are two of the best albums I've ever heard. This new style is growing on me tho.
Goddamn Right
a person who enjoys both styles of Architects! never thought i’d find another one but that’s class
I'm pretty sure they did this to give Sam's vocal a rest on stage. Kinda like those poppy album of BMTH
@@ilham7345 probably so maybe we get some heavier stuff in future, but i’m not complaining either way
@@ilham7345 bmth stopped doing heavy stuff cause Oli is so fucking horrible at doing vocals he fucked his voice up permanently
Sam has such a unique voice idc that he is singing more. Sure I’m more of a fan of their older shit but after their colorful and amazing discography they don’t have shit to prove to me. They’ll be heavy when they want to be. Great song regardless.
THIS. This is the take. They’ve earned the right to do whatever tf they want.
Exactly! They made 2-3 of the greatest albums ever written. Let them make their money and take care of their families now. This music is still hella fun to hear live anyway!
Spot on! Tbh I discovered them through there most recently album when the single Animals came out and I am someone who enjoys both clean and hard vocals, personally I like their newer stuff because there's more clean vocal but I like that they are doing what they are wanting to do and not forcing to create what they don't want to create. Song slaps!
@@deadlyninjafish lmao how can you listen to a song knowing they’re writing it for the money? Hard to be passionate about this as a long time fan
@@shreddingthatjeet they're not writing it for money, they're doing it because they want to. The fact it's more radio friendly is a byproduct of the fact they're older and more influenced by different music now. I'm just saying I've got no issues with them having more success, they've earned it.
A solid, catchy track! I love the lyrical references to their older music. 'A return on the souls they sold' being taken from the lyrics to Nihilist and 'But some of us wish to exist' as a reference to the last album's title. I really enjoy how their lyrics echo throughout their career, it makes it feel like one continuous vision and story. I can't wait to hear the rest of the new record!
While I agree on the continuities, I do think the lyrics lack a certain kind of touch, especially in the chorus. "Do you remember who we are?", is such a bland and by now overused boring line.
@@lazylegolars I think it's fine. But I mean, we lost Tom, so ofc it is going to be different.
then you should give Counterparts a listen. They're great doing this.
Sam with eyeliner and eye shadow. This can't get better. Totally excited.
Can't wait for this album 🔥
Thank you for having the balls to be yourselves, and continue to make music that is honest and real.
being yourselves is trying to be bmth?
@@spectre722 and you have something against bring me the horizon?
Honestly this style sounds more like a forced change, instead an honest transition.
@@proximityclockworkx1572 a few years ago I knew it was coming. Not forced. He mentioned something in an interview about bands changing their styles mainly referring to BMTH going pop, this was during or around when Holy Hell came out.
@@jasonthekeyblademaster945 no lol. sempiternal is probably my favorite metalcore album. it's just that i want architects to be architects, not discount post-2013 bmth.
He basically abandoned screaming all together. I have no issue with him singing all, but his screams and scream singing were huge aspects of why I fell in love with this band.
So you have no issue with it except that you have an issue with it
I'm pretty sure they did this to give Sam's vocal a rest on stage. Kinda like those poppy album of BMTH
@@ilham7345 but bmth is never going to make that kind of music again
@@wakipai3D that's a bold statement, are you their their crew?? Because I wouldn't assume something as bold like that
@@ilham7345 no but think about it, what would they gain from that?
It's just fanservice at that point
I really really like this one. LOVE that breakdown, love that upwards shift in the chorus. Just overall really really enjoyable.
The producer absolutely nailed this song. Don’t get me wrong , good band , good song but the Ingenieur made this song bigger than it is I guess. In an absolute positive way
i sense the engineer in you ;) ps 100% agree.
The breakdown has the in-vogue pitch shifted guitars, I think… doubled with the synth and it’s like djent meets 80s basslines in the metal production world haha (see I Prevail and Day To Remember singles…)
yea if theres anything i like about new architects its the production so perfect
Architects is the best !!! But you need to listen to Glory by SLT right now 🤘!!! You’re missing out !!! !!!
So this song is gonna be very different live
Rip Grandma, this song came out the day you passed, and it will always remind me of you.
sorry for your loss
absolutely incredible!!!! love to see you guys experimenting, changing, growing, and showing new sides. it’s like watching a friend over the years, who’s maturing and i love every bit of it!!!
Im livin for 2:00 onwards AGHHHH and thank you for the heavy black eyeshadow, Love when singers where it!
Die hard fans should understand that nothing can stay the same forever , I absolutely LOVE this new sound and that was an amazing song that will get stuck in my head for sure , because that's what Architects do . Can't wait for more !!
Exactly! You shouldn't just love the music, you should love their journey as artists.
Ofcourse not, I’m all for evolution of sound even if it doesn’t appeal to me as much. People have forgotten that yes while Architects was heavier back then.. their sound was constantly changing.
But tbf the most disappointing change was Parkway Drive once IRE came out and so on.. they kinda lost their high energy drive and started sounding more like Limp Bizkit with their new rap sounding song, and FFDP… one of my least favorite styles I’ll be honest. But I still respect them immensely for their musicianship, likewise with Architects
They have evolved as perfectly as you could hope a band would.
I'm generally okay with change, it's just, that this sounds exactly like bmth. I'm missing the uniqueness and complexity of their older stuff. This sounds kinda like generic contemporary metalcore.
"He who rejects change is the architect of decay"
This band is still so amazing!!! Bravoooo
Definitely the best single off the new album they've released so far. Not a huge fan of the cleaner singing, but the instrumental work was definitely a step-up the previous singles and that breakdown was sick. Here's to more songs of this quality.
The instrumentals were the only good things about the song, in my opinion. And I agree, Tear Gas was utter rubbish, in my opinion. I didn't mind "When we were young though." While not close to their older material, it was far better than half of their last album.
It's still butt rock with a hint of Architects and a decent breakdown. Tom was the heart and soul of this band, and it's really starting to show now.
They're slowly turning into BMTH if you pay attention. Not only they're following them w/ the small case letters for song titles, but they're also experimenting w/ this industrial sound. The instrumental is top notch level, but I do miss the screams from previous albums. And I agree that this is the best single so far.
I agreed with you, this is the best
@@dravenripley9468 truuuuth
Please stay relentless in the path you are pursuing with your music. I love that you're doing whatever makes you happy, just like true artists should. Your band is loved and respected, and in my opinion all your songs ever since FTTWTE are SICK!!! Architects is one of the few bands that gets the evolution of music and the power of their craft in these troubled times.... Congratulations and success to you!
That pixel sorting is just sublime.
Being an artist is a balancing act to make fans happy, make sure your marketable, and doing what you love.
The main difference between the old Architects and the new? I still get goosebumps every time I listen to Lost Forever, Lost Together / AOGHAU / Holy Hell / and some older stuff like These Colors don't run and Devil's Island. No goosebumps here. Not for the last album or the latest 2 songs. Not bitching about it. I still flew from Eastern Europe to see Architects live in the UK this year, and I will never forget it. I hope they are happy with what they are doing, which is more important than anything. I can still listen to all the old stuff which I consider a pure masterpiece and would still travel thousands of miles to see and hear it live. Secretly hoping that the goosebumps will come back with a new song one day.
Nailed it with the goosebumps factor.
This one sounds like all their other more recent songs it doesnt stand out. Its not bad and I wont ever change it when it plays but I wont seek this song out .
the same
100% agree. It’s such a weird and kinda lame position to be in. I don’t even wholly dislike any of the new songs. They’re not bad at being what they’re supposed to be. Because this shift in sound is obviously super intentional. They just aren’t memorable in any way for me. I’ll end up passively listening to the album occasionally when I want to turn my brain off. But that’s about it. Not what I want from Architects.
Same bruv
Linkin Park core
Josh's vocals on Sylosis is so needed in this band. If his voice somehow made it into more songs and more heavy, this band would be so SO good!
JC just quit it already with the "oh no there's not enough ****ing screaming this is not heavy now" mindset. The ****ing music is what makes it heavy not intelligible screaming which has its place but not as a rule or form but rather as a highlight
@@codenamescarletfox no, you quit copying and pasting this response on every comment that has a different opinion than you. You’re entitled to like this more, and others are entitled to like the older stuff better.

I LOVE THIS BAND
The little quick silent breaks..... spine tingles
I find the band amazing, I understand that the moment is very different from when they started but one thing remains, architects is a band focused on lyrics and meaning behind them, that´s their super power but I am still processing the lyrics from this new album.
This breakdown is all I've ever wanted

This is honestly such an amazing album
One of my all time fave bands!
Josh actually did a couple of lines of vocals in that orchestral version of impermanence, even though that was just a coverup so that Sam could get a breath, it's so good to see him do it again
They're sound has never been consistent. Go through their discography and they've always been changing They're sound. They're like the linkin park of metalcore. You win some fans and lose some. That's life. Keep it up guys.
Yup, I'm here since their last album FTTWTE and I'm loving their new sound! (The older albums kick ass btw, but I totally dig the new sound!!)
The problem is that it used to be consistently good. This is Imagine Dragons with a random breakdown.
@@auberginedreams00 "good" is a matter of subjective opinion. I get why certain fans don't like it. You don't have to. They're aren't writing for you.

Larga vida Architects.
