    10 Years Later:
“That part” in ‘Hollow crown’ still makes me feel safe, all the way to my core.
‘The Bitter End’ still makes me feel light, like I could simply ascend into the clouds
‘Heartburn’ still makes my chest feel tight, and my eyes sweat
but this…this makes me feel depressed…
Because this makes me feel absolutely nothing at all.

In all seriousness, who can blame any rock band? It’s so incredibly hard to make it in a sub genre of metal, and even if you do a lot of bands can more than 10 years without having to quit due to not getting enough money… it either requires non stop touring or recording, or a top 5 sized fanbase in your sub genre, which is so unrealistic. I will never criticize bands for trying to get more money because that’s what we all do at our jobs.

@@someguyguitar8601 tbh I disagree. This album is obviously not a metalcore album so people are gonna get turned off anyways. However, isn't it impressive how effortlessly they completely shifted subgenres and made it sound good?
Like there are a lot more elements being used in this album than the previous ones: synths, programmed drums/clicks, industrial riffs, beat drops, grooves, cleans etc. And yeah a lot of these existed but they were always supplementary assets for the straightforward metalcore sound - now they're front and centre and it's executed so well.
I think they deserve some respect for not doing what other metal bands do which is just release a "softer" version of their best songs, 4 slow acoustic songs and then 1 good heavy song but it's just a shitty rip off. These guys made a genuine effort to change and the quality of the product is (personally for me) probably in the top 5 best albums.

I honestly just feel so happy that they sound like they’re healing from Tom’s passing. Although amazing and cathartic, the last couple of albums were dripping with grief. I think it’s quite selfish for “fans” to attack change when it kind of indicates (at least to me) that they’re in a better place. They’re also not angsty 20 year olds anymore. Honestly the worst kind of “fans” in existence.
Do you really want a band to continue making sounds they don’t even want to do?
People grow and change. If you don’t like this sound, go and listen to their old stuff.
“Metalcore shouldn’t be popular” is the most tone deaf saying I’ve ever heard. By allowing bands to spread their wings and recruit a wider audiecne, more people will listen to their previous works and bring new eyes to the scene. That’s what we’d all love. Stop being gatekeepers.

It’s just so disrespectful to bash a band got putting something out that diverts from their first few albums. Not to mention when a select few bring Tom into it say disrespectful things of “Tom would be disappointed” or whatever. If you don’t like then that’s fine but some people need to stop being so disrespectful towards bands all because they change their style and it’s not putting out the same material from their earlier albums over and over again. Much of the comments I’ve seen people have been at least respectful. Then there’s some that just say nasty things to them. Totally uncalled for. However, I know many people still love them myself included and look forward to the new album🤘

Still not quite happy about the musical direction though. Been a fan since Hollow Crown. Lose some, win some. Same as with PWD. Metalcore is simplified these days attracting a broader audience and increasing sales, optimized for stadium shows and festivals with simple beats and singalongs. If this is the way it goes, best of luck. Happily there are still a few Oldschool bands keeping their recipes without being boring or repeating themselves.

@@brettwardle4723 Tbh I'm tired of hearing that this development is necessary to pay your rent and food. Not meaning to be personal towards your comment. Especially for Epitaph I would assume that they grant the band lots of creative freedom. So why don't they use it (obviously)? Most of the musicians on this band have additional skills like mixing or so and earn money otherwise.
Maybe the root of the problem not that bands need to play simpler music but the industry should start paying them more (again). I was born in the 80s and back then bands survived without streaming and lots of them are still around.

Not saying I dislike this new direction they’re going but I’m just gonna miss their older sound not to mention all their other previous albums like all our gods have abandoned us,lost forever etc.All phenomenal albums and I’m gonna miss new music with that type of sound

@@harrisonlord3524 the point is, there will never be more architects that people loved. This is their new direction and it's crap. It's more mediocre BMTH generic "metal" (more like rock)
AOGHAU and previous albums were masterpieces. Tom had the architects DNS, now we have generic riff number 4 and some Medicare vocal overlays to cover Sam's cleans.

I dont think they're doing it to appeal to a wider audience, the writing style till all our gods have abandoned us was basically Tom's and holy hell followed it but as an album to mourn him but it already had some diferente elements.
I think they know they can't do it without Tom and want to leave that era as his legacy. So they've been crafting a new style on the last couple albums without losing what the band sound is
