Lyrics
Royal beggars
Do you wanna live forever?
Alone.
Alone.
Alone.
‘Cos we’re broken
All hope is dead
But we’re coping
Somebody save our souls
Like a bird in a cage
Trying to fly away
Is this the price that we have to pay?
Overflowing with rage
Yet we still obey
‘Cos we’re asleep in a hurricane
Bitter lovers
Let go
‘Cos it’s now or never
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Breathe in.
‘Cos we’re choking
And left for dead
But we’re coping
Somebody save our souls
Are you listening?
You may not have noticed
We have totally lost our way
Are you lost in the clouds?
Or can you hold your focus?
It’s ourselves that we will betray
We sit on a throne waiting for god to bend the knee
But we’re nothing more than
Royal beggars
But I’m as guilty as the next man
Our eyes are open, but we’re not listening

The vocalist Sam has become is just stunning. There is no voice like him out there.
THE VOCALIST SAM
There is, Lucas Woodland of Holding Absence is like Sam but like a decade younger and already as talented.
Think Spencer Charnas gets pretty close man. Both outstanding vocalists both Clean and Harsh
Hey I’m The Vocalist Sam from The Progressive Metal Architects.
Jon B. Ryan Kirby
I used to listen to this song with my brother, we share the same emotion. this song really get in through our soul, touch our heart gently, always had a goosebumps.
Then my brother died this day, 1 month ago due to kidney failure. he'd fought for his life for almost 4 years. i lost my only brother, my best man everyday. it feels so hard to listen this song. it feels so wrong without my brother around. it takes a time to realize that he's free now, not like a bird in a cage. But i still overflowing with rage that i can never be enough for my brother. i ask everyday "why him?", blaming myself. But i guess "doomsday" answer me "they said the good die young". But i feel i can never accept that he's gone.
But i really grateful that i always stay by his side till his last breath, his hand really holds me tight until God took him away. I wish my brother satisfied with my loyalty all this time.
i appreciate whoever read this, thank you for your attention

Sam has THE best voice of this generation of metal. You can't change my mind
If not, it's one of the best - and it certainly suits their music
depends on what kind of range you thinking? Metal only or also the sub-genre like metalcore. Then I would say Caleb Shomo comes really close. But it is another style they going for. Sam could have the best voice because of the whole band, he fits so perfectly with the band. He is not just a voice of a band but another instrumental.
100% he does. Architects are front and centre for the leaders of metal
@@ronan5610 what about the man Spencer Charnas from Ice nine kills? Tyler Carter (OG woe is me and Issues) Garrett Rapp from The Color Morale.

This is so powerful, it's amazing how they can convey such emotion, you can really feel it in Sams voice
I love the way he's able to hit notes when he screams. Like he's singing and screaming at the same time, not a lot of people can do it. Even Greg Puciato can't scream with that level of control and melody

No, not really. While Architects are pretty loyal to metalcore, Parkway Drive "ascended" into more of a heavy metal music.. But they sure as hell got some quality stuff.
should i check out some songs?
Well, to be honest, there's nothing really similar to Architects.. For example, Sam (the vocalist) has probably one of the most unique voices in the genre... But if I can recommend you something: While She Sleeps - Four Walls, Make Them Suffer - Let Me In, Bury Tomorrow - The Age, Wage War - Witness, Dreamshade - On My Own... If you'll like some of these songs, make sure you listen to more from each artist, these are some of my favorites.. ;)

TIL DEATH
Why the tears rolling down my face are so real?
Architects, is, really, a great band. Architects Family forever.
Dear Architects,
I normally don't hear music like this at all. With this band and especially with the last songs (Hereafter, Doomsday, Royal Beggars) and the videos, this changed. Why? Well, the gateway to this for me is simply one thing: Emotions. I never experienced a band that carried such emotions, I cannot even describe because of my english... well, probably I couldn't do this in my motherlanguage either.
I saw a few videos of you guys where you did speeches on stage because of Tom, because of what happens with your lifes at this time... how you speak about life itself and to appreciate it, man... it really makes me think. And then I see this new video here and it starts with every single one of you - crying - which is really really weird and... awesome... and hurting - all at the same time. It's so rare these days (well, maybe it was always) to show your emotions, to show your pain, stress, grief...
And what I want to say is, that I am really really thankful for you guys sharing these emotions with us/and me, because it really means a lot to me, and it makes me think and it helps me through my day and my life, how you transport those feelings with your music. And I defintely cannot wait for the new album of cause. But somehow I'm also scared, because I know with your music I am also gonna face my own pain, like with Gone With The Wind, which is kind of a song, I somehow cannot listen to (often), without facing my pain (and obviously yours and Tom's somehow...). But that's okay, it's part of life itself.
Thank you a thousand times for everything you've done and you're doing, not only musicwise but as human beings. I wish you all the best.
wait is this r/biography section of youtube ._.
I'm glad you found your way to them, they are unique with their words and rhythms they bind it to. And they pour their heart (and tears) out on the stage. I understand the struggle listening to some of their songs, if you have personal experience, it's really bloody hard, but it's also therapy in the form of a song. At least for me, Hereafter is the perfect therapy haha. I hope you also found time to listen to their other songs, they have great political songs as well (something this world is really lacking considering what has become of it..)
They are amazing in how they make people feel. The three he mentioned are the only architects songs to ever make me cry from the song itself (heartburn made me cry over an ex haha) Because of the raw emotion and the power that is Tom in their hearts to bring even better music to carry on his legacy!
If you're looking for bands that have a similar style check out make them suffer, they are more deathcore leaning but similar idea, incorporating emotion in the music

A couple of months/years ago I was incomplete because one of my favorite singers (Chester - LP) died and I was playing and playing old LP songs. After too many loops in albums and songs, I wanted to find another band that give that emotion, that "feeling" (dont know how to explain), and finally, looping through recommendations I came to Architects with Nihilist and Royal Beggars songs, now I can say I found a really amazing band, with that scream, that blegh that feels just directly to the soul and gives you that emotion, that "feeling". Now I am just looping in all their songs... Amazing!

Also it's just not prog metal, time signature doesn't change once, riff is "Djenty" but so are most of Korn and Limp Bizkits riffs if you mean they're low tuned.
Prog and "Djent" is stuff like TesseracT, Animals as Leaders, Monuments, Periphery etc. The word "Djent" refers to a heavily palm muted, percussive playing style (see almost anything by TesseracT for reference), where as Josh let's nearly all of the notes ring out in this song.

Listening the music is one thing, but when watching and listening the music video is another. I literally cried a little when watching this. This is the reality. The hard pills that we have to swallow in adulthood. Stuck in a vicious cycle of modern life. Everyday is nearly the same for us workers.

They've been an amazing band from the start. Still have all of their old cds laying about. Hollow crown changed me as a a person and coming back to listen to them now after a long while I'm thinking why did I stop listening. They've evolved but never fell off at all. Such a great band. Fucking love Architects 💯🙌
Every single I think they've released their best song and then they release a new one
I think this is the best album from architects.. Why? Because they show maturity and Soul to this album.. maybe they are not adding a complicated guitar melody or intense beat like any other metalcore does, but architects is one of the band that bring the quality of the music not only hard to play or hard music..but the message that they trying to give to the listener can deliver well..
2:36 - 2:59 = Best Moment in the Song
Change my Mind!
@Antonio McCann one hundred percent.
@Antonio McCann I completely agree
Sam bleeding and screaming at the same time is so creepy and beautiful at the same time wtf
Holy hell, there's something in his voice! my love to Sam is my longest relationship ever😍
listening from saudi arabia on repeat. screaming crying throwing up. this is too good to be true
Вы - лучшие. Я вдохновлён на все, что есть. Как же сильно, чёрт побери. Твой вокал лучший среди лучших.
the way he looks at that tissue... felt that.

@@cunt5413 ☆ the more you know ☆ lmao
Just discovered this band few days ago! Royal Beggars, Hereafter and Doomsday have taken me for a ride. Damn, I'm listening to these guys continuously from last few days. I have became their fan!
Listen to the first 2 albums, way different. More math core Dillinger Escape Plan type shit
All of those songs are absolutely amazing but my favorite has got to be Gone With The Wind
2022 - still love you guys and miss Tom every day for his talent, ability and personality. A legend taken too soon but not before leaving an unforgettable mark on the world!
Honestly never ceases to blow my mind. The lyrics are so heavy and the instrumentals are always on point. All my tattoos are influenced by them. Can't get over them, every song is a banger.
