    that sounds nice.
    my vn 800 does the potato song writen by twin cam. i know it's a cover tune but it does it well. completely open drag pipes large diameter. it sounds awesome. i think a 900 with carb instead of f i would do the same. i have stage 2 on carb . drilled slide and shimmed needle .but stock jet. so it will idle correct. 2 5/8 turns on pilot. powerful. reliable .huge difference from stock. so much so , i was able to go to 19 x 39 drive sprockets for hywy speeds. wow ! no loss of power.

      I would love to change my final drive. Seems I am always hunting for a 6th gear on the highway. I always play around with exhaust. slowly but surely it turns into short glasspacks or drag pipes haha.

      @@mrawesome14b yep ! loud but with some tonal note quality.
      i think "Barron " sells a larger front pulley for the vn 900. gives you that " 6th gear" you want .but more . it broadens the power curve longer throu the gear so you don't have to run throu all gears so fast. around town , i sometimes never get out of above 4th gear. but on the interstate it's a whole new bike. it's the easiest mod to do for this. i don't think there is an alternative rear pulley available. i need to see if that barron pulley fits output shaft and space allowed before i buy the rest. i may go up on wheel diameter as they put this little skateboard wheel on the back and 21" pizza cutter on front. well see.
      i like your work. and the fact that you did those mods when folks say crap. f em' i say .do it how you want. i do.my mods always comes out good but i do more than most would . belt drive on suzuki was 350$ at most but plus my work. probably solid 16hrs of you know what. bloody knuckles and smoky shop! ha!

      @@KevinFreist haha! Thanks man. If those pulleys weren't so expensive I would already have one. budget modifying sucks sometimes.

    Enjoy seeing people learn about their bikes. You did a great job here and the thought going into this was noteworthy. However, looking back - and with consideration to the value of your time, do you think you could have achieved about the same sound by simply putting on Baron Hack and Slash slip-ons? It' s hard to tell from the video, but the results does comparable. Have a great evening.

      The nice part about doing this is that it retained all the factory mounting locations and rubber isolators. I would assume you would have more vibration with a pair of slip ons unless isolated very well. I went this route more from a money perspective since I already had all of the tools needed. I would say slip ons would probably be quieter which may not be a bad thing. ITS LOUD haha.

      there is something about making things a certain way yourself. sometimes the bolt on parts don't satisfy like your own custom mods or one off creations.
      i have also a 1997 Suzuki Marauder. diddle squat available for that model as far as quality bolt on anything. i hated the chain drive so much , i made my own belt drive .the bolt on " scoot works " is just garbage. go see it at my thumb nail. one of a kind .i love it 10 times more now that it's done. wish i did it 23 yrs ago when i bought it new. some bikes don't produce much chain noise but this one was terrible. went thru so many chains and sprokets. filthy grease .just sucked. now , perfect.

    Thank you for the Nice Video,
    Did you get any Performance Difference?
    Cheers

      Its hard to tell. I always perceive a performance increase with the sound increase, but you would probably need a tuner to make noticeable additional power with this setup.

    I guess it'd just sound like an exhaust leak if I took the heat shields off and cut a short section out of each header pipe and then hid it by putting the shields back on...

    • @mrawesome14b
      @mrawesome14b  2 года назад

      It probably wouldn't sound bad. There is a guy on RUclips that did that but left the mufflers off and reinstalled the shields. I would be concerned about heat. You may end up melting some stuff down there.

      @mrawesome14b  3 года назад

      They are just some cheap amazon plastic saddle bags. the hinges and paint were worn out so I have since removed them, but they worked well.

    ALL that when you could have gotten cobra pipes like I did on my Vulcan 900 LT - and mine sound better, look better and give it more torque - for $350? Glad I classy my bike up and not chop it up.

      If I had $350 for exhaust pipes, I would have done that. This is a DIY cheap way to get decent looking straight pipes.
