I just did this right before putting on my new Viking bags. Took about an hour from start to finish. I was wishing I had a Dremel with a circular cutting blade because I think this could be done in about 30 minutes. Anyways, a big difference in the exhaust!! Sounds even better "live". Not sure I will go to "Stage 2" because of the neighbors but I will take this new found happiness one day at a time. Thank you for posting. Reference: 2017 Vulcan 900 Classic.
I did stage one then tapped the holes that lets me insert Allen bolts to return it back to normal, as here in the UK they wont pass the noise levels for the annual safety/emission checks that all vehicles over 3 years old must pass
I have a 08 classic and the previous owner started the process of drilling off the rivet/studd heads. While i was riding one of the black caps blew off so now i have one pipe with the cap and the other without (it looks awful) . So im thinking about doing the stage one so they are the same.
From what I've been reading online from a Vulcan forum, if you only do the stage 1 or 2 debaffle and don't touch the air intake, the bike will be okay. Same if you only do intake and not pipes. When you do both the bike will run very lean, and you need to get your ECM flashed for the new setup. There's someone everyone refers to as Ivan who does ECM reflashes for these bikes and has a very good reputation.
I did my 2008 Vulcan 900 like this but I used a pilot bit and 1/2 “bit for the 8 holes , then I got a rod like 3 1/2 foot long and small sledge and stuck it all the way into each pipe and knocked off the screens inside , they stay in there fyi, you get a way better beautiful rumbling sound especially with acceleration
I don't understand negative comments here, like why did you watch the video if you had nothing good to say? Thank you for the vid, hard to find stuff for the vulcan, or maybe it's just on the mobile version that it's hard. Did you have to make any adjustments after this stage or stage 2?
thats how i wanted to start by debaffle, but thought all that drilling is kinda experimental so i just replaced stock with cobra pipes and intake with pcv and it runs like a new bike or i should say like a different bike, and offcourse louder pipes save lives :D
Id call it more of a modification then destroying, Thats the entire reason people are watching this video because they want their bike to be louder without having to buy new pipes, i say to each their own
After riding 200 miles this weekend, I haven't notice any difference on improvement or decline in performance. Quite honestly, I debaffle my pipes to be heard when approaching texting drivers. But wait, I actually finished stage 2 and will be posing a video about it tonight. Stage 2 - There is no turning back, and I am loving it.
Why did you drill out the baffle completely it would have given a better sound. There wasn't anything wrong with what you did but the baffle is still inside the pipes. Peace.
I feel this isn't really "debaffling", because the baffles are still in there; they were not crushed or extracted. You just put holes on the back plates to make it louder. Real debaffling (where you crush or remove the baffles all-together from the pipe) give a deeper rumble.
Laughed out loud when you were showing us the 1/4" drill bit to cut the 8 holes - maybe you should try a metal cutting bit instead of a brad point wood drilling bit - also, get a better set of bits - nothing wrong with Ryobi - just not the $1.99 set for working on butter.
Naw man... just buy some pipes. This doesn't sound right at all. I hear air whooshing through those little holes you drilled more than the rumble of the bike, and that's just at idle.
I totally agree. I just bought a 900 Vulcan. It took me a long time to find one that was unmolested. It's unreal what some people do to their bikes because they think it's cool. Irreversible damage to very expensive parts.

Oohrah brother. Thanks for video. I ahave 2019 Vulcan 900 classic Lt. Be safe
Thanks for the video! Nice music by the way.
⭕️semper fi brother devil dog sounds awesome
Nice skeleton in the background, Classic!
I have been told that the full stage 2 baffle removal will cause the engine to run leaner but is this the case for just the stage 1?
Just get the procom fuel injexctor box and turn up the juice £94 in the Uk

After your stage 2 did you experience a power loss?

I used a dremel and cut off wheels to cut smaller pipes flush
Trouble hearing a couple of times. Can you post bit sizes for both drilling parts and blade size for easy list?
Was this bike out before the polaris scout

I just got a 2016 Vulcan...I think this may have already been done to it...it's pretty loud!
Why didn't you just pull the baffles out? Instead of drilling more holes into them? Just curious fam and btw great looking bike 🔥🤘🏼
Pulling the baffles out is stage 2, and the bike gets extremely loud compared to this stage 1 "mod" :)
What.is.stage.2.?
What you do is get something black to screw down on the flat part in the exhaust
grat vid lama.!...so what u clean your wheels/spokes with and white walls man?
Won't the inside of the pipe turn black anyway?
Put 12K miles and never turned black
thats how i wanted to start by debaffle, but thought all that drilling is kinda experimental so i just replaced stock with cobra pipes and intake with pcv and it runs like a new bike or i should say like a different bike, and offcourse louder pipes save lives :D
WOW that is an Awesome way to destroy your exhaust , Good Job ,Bro

Yes indeed, something every adolescent should do with his or her new bike...

Thats not debaffled. Thats drilling holes. Debaffling is taking the whole insides completely out
What you are speaking of is Stage 2, which I speak of on my channel.

cutting the pipes with that saw ...12 hours later
if you haven't thrown out these oval parts and you have an ebay account, sell them to me

WTF, is with the loud music and caput camera angle?
Nice video…next time back off on the music level….distracting trying to listen to you.
Annoying loud music. Couldn't hear him.
You ruined a good exhaust!
Sounds a lot worse than before!
You should have bought a cobra or v&h and kept the original untouched!

How to butcher your pipes 👎 in the Uk we need to put baffles in for annual test so this isn’t an option.
Here in the States, we refer to this as ingenuity. But sure, you are from the UK. We took care of that issue in 1776.
