Only thing I see bad about this now is the probability of water being sucked in while riding at highways speeds in rain. But pretty nice work and cool idea. I’d still do it myself
I been looking at intakes for my 09. I cant believe how expensive this stuff is. Im gonna use your idea. But i have access to tools, machinery and a welder. That being said, my airbox is chrome so ill get some stainless and fab a small "scoop" and heat shield from the other guys suggestions. Ill do this in the next few weeks and let yall know how it goes.
Good idea however, the hot jug is almost touching the fins, and the exhaust is directly in front of it to. You got a modified extremely hot air ram intake. Seriously, do what you want, but get some stainless sheet and make a flat shield so the hot air bypasses exhaust heat and cylinder head heated air. Good idea, I'll hopefully soon use your idea and mod it a bit more.. p.s. hope you don't take this as an insult!!
I understand what your saying, and I don't take it as an insult. The gap between the intake opening and the exhaust is decent. It's way better than Where it had been in the middle of the engine surrounded completely by heat. This is a modification I decided to do until I could find an intake I like and that everybody doesn't have. It does seem to work pretty well. Thanks for your input.
What did you use as a screen protector? I just bough a use vn900 and it looks that the previous owner did the same, but the opening is not protected with any kind or strainer or screen, thanks

That sounds awesome.
Belo trabalho amigo. E muito bem pensado. Ar mais frio tem uma densidade de oxigenio maior . Vai ganhar um bom desempenho.

@3 Dubs agreed, testing is key, its been found many times homemade stuff works. Thanks for the data.

Cold air intake..behind the exhaust downpipe..how can that work?

Works good I did it
Didnt suck water in it when u ride in the rain?
No, it hasn't at all I've got it and she's pretty heavy rain.
How did it work?
It actually works better than I thought it would.
turn the idle down now
Dont ruin your stock airbox! Not everything you see on tube is worth doing.Poor design near exhause and open for water to get in.
Music is massively annoying.
