This is the after video of my custom pipes with the 4 inch mini baffles installed. I would not recomend wrapping the baffles in anything. The holes are to large and if the packing is not tight it will blow out. Sound might be different without the stainless steel in it but this gives everyone an idea of what they sound like.

I did not want to pay 400 dollars for a set of pipes so i made my own. This is very simple to do the only difficult part is making brackets to hold the pipes. Due to keeping the factory header pipes there is not a significant change in performance. as long as you keep some back pressure in the system no jetting is required.

R8 collets in this style (3 segments) are rarely used anymore.....you can buy ER collets w/R8 collet holder that can clamp much tighter because the 3-sided tools only grab on the leading edge, whereas ER collets can grab on the entire length. Also would NOT have printed in PLA...PETG superior for this use. Wrong material, wrong design
Jimbo Jones I agree on all counts. I used what I had. I think the thickness and design of an ER collet W/R8 collet holder would not have been feasible to 3d print due to the need for thickness for strength. This is really showing that I had good layer adhesion rather than material strength. It was just a fun project to see if I could do it. I would never use this over an appropriate tool for an actual job.
1 year later, and still awesome!!
Thanks Man! I miss this truck.
@@mrawesome14b You don't got it anymore?! What a shame!! Get another one, but the latest version!! A red 2024 V6 Sierra, and tune it the same!!!
Thank you for the Nice Video, Did you get any Performance Difference? Cheers
Its hard to tell. I always perceive a performance increase with the sound increase, but you would probably need a tuner to make noticeable additional power with this setup.
What kind of saddle bags ?
I honestly don't know. I haven't had this bike for several years now.
y the fn carb tho.....
cost mainly. It's easy to tune if you know what you're doing.
Instead of a full length pipe what sizes tips do I need to just make shorty pipes from the stock header
you will have to measure your stock head pipe diameter to determine that. it will be different depending on bike manufacturer and model. if you use automotive parts, you will probably have to use the smallest diameter you can find and use bushings to get it down to the right size.
Did you get the gages to work and if so how?
I reused all of the factory sensors on the 350 I installed. I stripped out all of the unnecessary wiring but kept all of the sending unit wiring so everything worked except for the speedometer.
Yoo, my grandmas 99 camry can probably outrun this thing no cap
lmao probably. I will say it made 30 more hp at the tire than a stock tbi 350.
If it had an LV3 4.3 V6, which the RPMs are tuned to 7,000, it'll be MUCH faster then.
I guess it'd just sound like an exhaust leak if I took the heat shields off and cut a short section out of each header pipe and then hid it by putting the shields back on...
It probably wouldn't sound bad. There is a guy on RUclips that did that but left the mufflers off and reinstalled the shields. I would be concerned about heat. You may end up melting some stuff down there.
Love the budget stuff and on my channel my wifes mustang is a 98 with a carbbed ls motor that really is low buck stock bottom end keep it up !
Thats awesome! I actually sold this car and got a 87 s10 that I am planning on putting a relatively stock 454 in. It will be awhile for the budget to allow it, but it will be on the channel for sure.
I just put a Vance and Hines drag pipes and sounds awesome
how did you keep your ac and heat working also your lights
I reused the factory radiator and hoses and just connected it to the water pump like it was before, so the heat works, but I got rid of the A/C compressor and lines so that does not work. I did not touch anything on the body wiring harness so as long as the key is in the run position everything on the body of the truck works like normal.
that sounds nice. my vn 800 does the potato song writen by twin cam. i know it's a cover tune but it does it well. completely open drag pipes large diameter. it sounds awesome. i think a 900 with carb instead of f i would do the same. i have stage 2 on carb . drilled slide and shimmed needle .but stock jet. so it will idle correct. 2 5/8 turns on pilot. powerful. reliable .huge difference from stock. so much so , i was able to go to 19 x 39 drive sprockets for hywy speeds. wow ! no loss of power.
I would love to change my final drive. Seems I am always hunting for a 6th gear on the highway. I always play around with exhaust. slowly but surely it turns into short glasspacks or drag pipes haha.
@@mrawesome14b yep ! loud but with some tonal note quality. i think "Barron " sells a larger front pulley for the vn 900. gives you that " 6th gear" you want .but more . it broadens the power curve longer throu the gear so you don't have to run throu all gears so fast. around town , i sometimes never get out of above 4th gear. but on the interstate it's a whole new bike. it's the easiest mod to do for this. i don't think there is an alternative rear pulley available. i need to see if that barron pulley fits output shaft and space allowed before i buy the rest. i may go up on wheel diameter as they put this little skateboard wheel on the back and 21" pizza cutter on front. well see. i like your work. and the fact that you did those mods when folks say crap. f em' i say .do it how you want. i do.my mods always comes out good but i do more than most would . belt drive on suzuki was 350$ at most but plus my work. probably solid 16hrs of you know what. bloody knuckles and smoky shop! ha!

Remove rims immediately
I got them too cheap to not use them, but I sold the car so that responsibility is in someone else's hands now.
Sounds good! What are those bags?
They are just some cheap amazon plastic saddle bags. the hinges and paint were worn out so I have since removed them, but they worked well.
Did you do a base run before the mods and did you use a chip ? The chip could make the difference with the existing mods.
He did not do a base run before he put the tune in unfortunately. It was a very generic tune all he did was grab the high side of the timing curve and add 4 degrees of timing and lean out the wot afr to 13.2 If I remember right.
Enjoy seeing people learn about their bikes. You did a great job here and the thought going into this was noteworthy. However, looking back - and with consideration to the value of your time, do you think you could have achieved about the same sound by simply putting on Baron Hack and Slash slip-ons? It' s hard to tell from the video, but the results does comparable. Have a great evening.
The nice part about doing this is that it retained all the factory mounting locations and rubber isolators. I would assume you would have more vibration with a pair of slip ons unless isolated very well. I went this route more from a money perspective since I already had all of the tools needed. I would say slip ons would probably be quieter which may not be a bad thing. ITS LOUD haha.
there is something about making things a certain way yourself. sometimes the bolt on parts don't satisfy like your own custom mods or one off creations. i have also a 1997 Suzuki Marauder. diddle squat available for that model as far as quality bolt on anything. i hated the chain drive so much , i made my own belt drive .the bolt on " scoot works " is just garbage. go see it at my thumb nail. one of a kind .i love it 10 times more now that it's done. wish i did it 23 yrs ago when i bought it new. some bikes don't produce much chain noise but this one was terrible. went thru so many chains and sprokets. filthy grease .just sucked. now , perfect.
Can I put on a 600 cc
It is a homemade exhaust system so The installation of custom made pipes will very for every bike. You can make pipes like this for your motorcycle but the attachment method and mounting will probably be different.

Where did you find the underdrive pulley? Will those long tube headers work on a 97 Sierra SL single cab? What tuner did you use? My truck is a 97 Sierra SL single cab 2wd long bed 4.3L 5spd MT. She was given to me with 199k miles and I put the rest. She's currently showing signs of leaking around the block so she'll be pulled soon and re-sealed. Since she's out, I want to start modding her a little bit more. Currently she only has an air intake that I pieced together and a muffler delete. Suspension wise she has brand new energy suspension full undercarriage bushing kit installed front to back.
What I would recommend for a little extra power is jet underdrive pulleys from summit racing. only install the crank pulley. Install electric fans that will be a significant gain and yes the headers should work on a Sierra as long as it is 2wd. I used XP racing in OKC but I would also recommend Abel Racing in OKC.
@@mrawesome14b ok well I live in Miami,FL so OKC is out of the question lol
@@funguy7979 my tune was nothing special at all. I basically paid 260 bucks for the guy to delete some o2 codes, add 4 degrees of timing, and change the target afr at wot a few decimal points. It wasn't a large player in my power gain. The electric fans and headers will be the most notable improvement. Be careful with mufflers I recommend magnaflow, Jones max flows, or cherry bombs. They are all straight through perforated cores.
@@mrawesome14b Exhaust wise, I currently have my factory stock headers, ypipe, cat and then the muffler was cut out, exhaust system shortened so it comes out the passenger side before the rear tire with a aftermarket tip 4.5-5in, I think.

Due to the use of the factory head pipes no re-jet was necessary. You may see additional power from re-jetting the carburetor, but I never tried it to verify that.

Thanks for the video. I have a CBR1000RR that a previous owner removed the stock exhaust and welded a pipe, and it sound obnoxiously loud and childish. I was wondering if I bought a baffle how can I fix it inside a straight pipe?

Hi, I am having troubles connecting the homemade pipes with the factory header.... could you explain how did you solve it?
Its an odd pipe size but you can buy muffler reducer inserts to put on the homemade pipes until you can U clamp it on the header. It was a pretty hard crush fit. The seal doesn't have to be perfect since there wasn't much back pressure in the homemade pipes. Could also put some header wrap in the joint to help seal it up.
Nice falcon I have one too same color, went through a few generators, just putting a gm 1 wire alternator on even though it kills me to put anything Chevy on it . Must fly with the v8
Sounds great!
Sounds much better my friend. I am wanting to do exactly the same thing on my 2000 V Star 1100. I am the second owner and unfortunately the last guy removed the original baffles and he didn't re-sync the carbs! He wondered why the bike ran so horribly. Good for me because he needed to sell it in the wintertime, and I could only offer about 33% of what it's worth. Luckily for me, he accepted. Your bike now sounds amazing Personally, I like the sound alot better with baffles, definitely a much more pleasant tone and contrary to what people think, removing baffles does not increase truly horsepower by more than 2 or 3%. In my experience all it really does it cause issues, which consequently cause the need for rejetting. So I now have my bike running well, and I want to reinstall baffles and have it running and sounding like its engineers intended. I will also experiment with making them myself.
Stock pipes cut sound better. At least on RUclips. Wish you had a video on your SBC Dodge build.

I would need a picture to really give you any ideas, but you need a bracket that you can attach the cable sheath to. then you can hook the end up of your cable to the bracket on the carburetors throttle that the governor is also on. If you go directly on the carb the governor will not work. Normally the cable is attached to a bracket connected to the throttle via a spring so that the governor can still shut the throttle when max rpms are achieved under no load

@@jmc4712 I can understand haha. If its a flathead no worries float the valves to death they can take alot but if it is an ohv engine try not to float the valves to much. Don't get me wrong its still hard on the valves and seats but there is no chance of piston contact in a flathead.
@@mrawesome14b what do u mean float the valves?
@@jmc4712 this information is subjective and depends on the engine, but on typical lawnmower and small engine application they usually run 3600 rpm and are designed to do so. When you rev the engine higher than that you will reach an rpm probably 4000 or 4500 rpm where the springs cannot stay in contact with the camshaft. there isn't enough spring pressure to pull it shut with the camshaft lobe so they float bouncing on the camshaft lobe preventing the valve from shutting. Since the valve isn't sealing properly it stops the engine from revving any higher than what the spring pressure will allow. In an ohv engine this can cause the valve face to hit the piston.
