- It was time for an oil change. So I decided to do a quick instructional video for those with this same bike, considering this model, or maybe a project for whatever bike you own. By no means am I a certified mechanic but this is a simple task. An oil change is one of the most cost effective maintenance that can be done by almost anyone. Thanks for viewing!!!

Great video. Thanks!!
Thank you!!👍🏿Thanks for watching!!
Great video. Very easy to follow. One idea to help with the screws. First Loosen them with the socket wrench then remove the socket from the driver handle and use the socket to turn the screw by hand. This helps me when I find hard to reach screw heads. Thanks for the video.
Thank you!!! I appreciate it!!!👍🏿
Thanks for the video, it’s my first bike and had no idea how to change the oil😂
You're welcome!! Thanks for watching!! It'll save you a lot of money😁. Be safe out there!!🏍💨

Congrats man!!!🎉💯 Welcome to the Vulcan Club!! Did you go with the Classic or Custom? Oil change is very easy to do. Ride safe, enjoy every moment!!🏍💨👍🏿
@@TD205 thanks man got the classic. Know have to insure and register but the dmv here in jersey is crazy
@@scalicia1 That's awesome💯!!
Great video dude. I have the custom over here in the UK and I love it. Going to do the oil in the next few weeks and keep my fingers crossed the weather gets warmer. I am going to do my best not to turn the oil filter upside down when full... That put a smile on my face. Everyone does that at least once 😁
Thanks!! Best Wishes!!! You'll be fine.
Just got one and I want to change the oil thanks a lot
Congrats!! You're welcome! Thanks for watching!!
K&N has a socket end at top of filter, you can use a ratchet to remove it
Yes, thank you!
THANK YOU MAN!
You're welcome!! And take you for watching!!!👍🏿💯
Might be just me but I'd have waited to put the drain plug back till after i removed the oil filter. Also props to this guy for representing the mime community.
Thanks for watching!! Reading is fundamental.
@@TD205 😄👍

Thanks for watching!! I really appreciate it. Anytime I can save a 🤑🤑💵, I'm all for DYI. Stay safe out there!!.
exactly how much oil is poured into the engine? 3l?
That 17mm nut on the oil filter is there for a reason...
Also, remove the oil filler plug while draining the oil, goes a lot faster
Thanks for watching!!
LOL Newb he is, yeah and helps also when you remove the filler cap as well while draining the oil man, air flow get it air flow to completely drain the old oil out, wow.
And yes the same 17 mil socket will tighten the oil filter back on. Ok Okay man
Vulcan vn 900 good motorcycle 👍
live to ride brother ✌️
It really is!! Thank you!!👍🏿 Likewise, may update to the 1700 Nomad later on in life.😁
Awesome video! The only thing I don’t know what to chose is oil?! Should I use 20W50 or just 10W40? My bike has 13,000 miles (forgot to mention, I just bought the bike recently and I don’t know how long it’s been sitting)
Thanks for watching!!💯 You can always go by the manual recommendations. I use 10W40 because it's most common and that's what the book says. Best wishes!!👍🏿
Thank you! I’m picking up some Mobile 1 10W40. I just finished fixing the Forks so now I’m just touching up everything then I’m going to start practicing on road. I rode it around my property but I need more space to practice shifting @@TD205
@@Peeinurcereal You're welcome! Sounds good! That Mobil 1 is good oil. Anything named brand you should be fine. It basically boils down to if you what thicker or thinner oil. Try going to a Public School or Mall Parking lot for space. Be safe out there!!👍🏿
Dam found a washer in my oil pan. Guess it's the washer from drain plug. New oil ready install catching this on the fly. Smh
It's probably is!!😂
Ytk u so much 👍👍
You're welcome!!! Glad I could help.👍🏿👍🏿
You could remove the oil filter with tubular key...
Thanks!! Thanks for watching!!
Why didn’t you use a socket to take off filter?
Thanks for watching!!
OEM filters don't have socket adapters. Might have been demonstrating for those who run them
LOL cause he is a well NEWB or you know a ah ride safe LOL but hm hmm LOL
@@bobb74ysmith Not sure what you're referring too. But thanks for watching!!
The screen filtre?
There was no need to change it. It was clean. No partials inside it.
What kind of oil was that?
I used Havoline 10W-40. Thanks for watching!!
@@TD205 LOL its Valvoline Santa Maria man
@@bobb74ysmith Thanks for watching!!
Good job, but you have sound in the video why not just speak instead of typing out on the screen??
Thank you for watching!! Typing is my preference.
You didn't do the screen. It's very important.
Not sure what you're referring too. But Ok. Dirty Oil was changed, New Oil put in and filter changed. Bike is running well!!✌🏿
@@TD205 there is an oil screen that a lot of people miss. On mine it's just behind the kick stand. Hard to find, easy to miss.
@@MarinosMysteries Ok, I'll have to go in the garage and find it. Thanks.
What is the screen? And what level does oil need to be in?
@@wolfywolf63 Its's on the left side of the crankcase near the drain plug. You'll definitely miss it. I had to look it up in the manual. And the book says 3.2L of oil when doing a full oil change(oil filter removed).
Please don’t reef on the oil plug
Thanks for watching!
You totally skipped over what tool to use to get the oil fill cap off. Showed nothing whatsoever.
I used an oil filter remover I purchased from Advanced Auto Parts. Can be purchased at most auto stores.
@@TD205 I was talking about the chrome cap where you put in the new oil, but I ended up using a quarter with some slip joint pliers lol.
@Gonzo_Bubb Oh my bad man. I used a flat head screw driver. But you should have one in your tool kit.
Why don't you talk ?
I prefer not to.
Video showed everything I need , without all the blah blah blah.
