What is possibly the MOST impressive is the opening Iron Maiden riff because it is actually 2 guitar parts that he put into 1. NICE!!!
The amount of talent he has playing is disgusting. He makes it look so simple and effortless. Off the charts talented.
Saw John 5 open for Queensryche few years back and admit had no idea of what to expect and was literally blown away by his high level talent. Everyone should see this dude live at least once. Great show and his playing ability is only outdone by his own amazing humility and gratitude.
J5 is amazing. One of my favorite players, he lives and breathes the guitar.

Exactly! He always appears to be having fun! And isn’t that what we want when performing? I got to meet him years ago. That along with his interviews, etc. have shown his humor, love of life and music. I would say he feels he is living a great life.

JOHN5 is the whole package..and seems like a genuine great guy. Took my wife and sister to see him in concert, they werent familiar with him and it wasnt the wifes type of music..they absolutley loved the show. Total beast

Hey, hopefully someone will see this comment before they ask where the bass is again... thanks to all of you who were curious. I was sick! I had to miss a few shows for the first time since we started doing J5 solo tours (I've always at least tried to get on stage and see how long I last!) I'm back and booming again. Hopefully not too booming, though. I like midrange. The guys killed it as always while I was out and they had some funky circumstances to deal with for this one from what I heard!
A beast of a bass player. Saw you in Philly and you were sick and alms missed the show. Still managed to crush it with the fever. See you again at the next Philly shows.

John5 is a virtuoso, one of the best guitarists of all time.
Plus he plays a mean ass Telecaster.
He’s good but not anywhere near the best. Listen to Guthrie Goven or Max Ostro, or Steve Vai. John’s good but I have been in numerous bands with dudes as good as him if not better. It’s not that uncommon these days. But he absolutely is a exceptional player.

Yet neither of them play a traditional Tele with single coils. But then again im sure John 5 has a ton of them in his collection.
Tele's have probably been used in 70% of popular guitar music. They are far more prevalent than you think. Probably the most versatile guitar in history.
Just because your favorite guitar slinger is known for playing a Les Paul or a Strat doesn't mean he/she used that in the studio on your favorite song. You'd be surprised to find Tele's where you thought there was something else.
It's not a true Telecaster set up, it has high quality humbucker pickups.

I Sat next to John and his wife on a flight from LaGuardia to LAX years ago. As much as I wanted to ask a million questions and BS with him, I gave them their space. Said a couple hellos and that was is it. In my opinion, he's one of the greatest living guitarists today. Dude is underappreciated. Hard to Showcase skills playing Zombie songs. Not that zombie songs are bad.

in order for him to able to switch between riffs and dial in the actual artists feel is what is truly amazing about John. On a dime I might add! As a drummer I know that if I’m playing VH I’m thinking Alex and his feel. To be able to switch to different artists and get their groove right and how close you can come to their energy is the challenge. You can also tell that although he was already a smokin hot guitarist he is constantly challenging himself. This is what makes legends..

The only thing is that he can't really improvise. Which is pretty normal thing for guitarists.
I saw Rob Zombie (with John 5) open for Ozzy in the late 00s. I was so excited to see Zakk Wylde for the first time, and while he was good, my lasting memory of the show is just how unbelievable John 5 was.
He is incredible and is definitely a guitarist who can actually play anything!

Such a flawless, amazing player, and a downright cool guy, and he selects amazingly iconic riffs to showcase! It's easy to see why he was a big fan of Rik Emmett who is a flawless player as well. Would love to see him put some Triumph riffs into his show.
The differences in tone and sound he gets out of that thing are amazing, his technique changes to fit the riff perfectly

I was at the show in Montreal just recently! I got to meet John 5 & Ian Ross & the drummer.! Great guys !John said He loves Montreal & always come back! Great show!!

I was sooo fortunate to meet John on the tourbus in Spokane Washington when he was on tour with Rob Halford and the band TWO and I was working for radio station Z-ROCK (yes, THAT Z-ROCK lol). It was AT THAT EXACT MOMENT, he got a call on a cellphone that Marilyn Manson guitarists ZimZum and possibly Twiggy (as well) were leaving Manson and Marilyn reached out to John 5 to replace ZimZum. He went from the front of the bus to the back for a few minutes, when hecame back to join us at the front of that bus, he says “I guess I’m Manson’s new guitarist!” We all laughed unbelievingly.. and then he got the last laugh. It was RIGHT THEN, John Lowery became JOHN 5
I have about 40 hours of Z ROCK saved, what a great network! I miss those days.

Sorry, late to the party… I just want to say John is one of the most kindest, happy, and out going individuals I’ve ever met! It’s been 30 plus years and watched in amazement and gratitude. To the point! I remember meeting john (I like to to say Johnny…lol) before it all began, and sitting on the couch. I listened for hours… I eventually asked if the guitar was an extension of his voice? And, from there this little jam session reminds me of just that! Johnny, love ya brother and kill it it with Motley 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I picked up a tele a few years ago from a guy at work for a steal.. It's a 2013 MIA and I hardly play my Les Paul, Charvel, Jackson or Kramer anymore. You really can play anything with it!
I traded a strat for a tele many years ago. Teles are great. Now my 15 year old plays it.
