Aah yes that was when I found out that I was pregnant with my daughter about 9 years ago. I had been struggling with alcohol and drug addiction and lost everything. I thought my life was over, but God gave me my miracle baby and saved my life. I'm 8 years sober and I'm so grateful for life today :) This shawl is absolutely stunning :)

After a very emotional roller coaster as a mom, when my youngest son was officially recognized as a person by the state, it felt amazing to see the look in his eyes at this victory he achieved. It came after a million small battles but it came, despite the obstacles. It's wonderful to see your children shine as who they are ❤

Beautiful shawl & pattern!!! After feeling my life had ended when my husband died from a drawn out time of cancer, I met my now husband. We became great friends & found out we both loved to travel to new, adventurous places together. Later we discovered we couldn’t bear a day apart from each other & got married. Every day has been a “wave” of up & down adventures!!! This shawl reminds me so much of our wonderful life together!!! Thanks for sharing this with us!!!

Love watching the flocks of birds flying. This such a great representation of them. This colorway has got to be one of my favorites! The most impactful time I started something new was when I had my daughter. It was full of joy, excitement, unpredictability,... lots of emotiions.

The feeling I had when I got my first nursing position at a prestigious Long Island Hospital. I had been a single parent struggling with making ends meet before I graduated college with my nursing degree. I felt so empowered that day. I went on to lovingly care for oncology patients for 14 years. It was a calling, and I answered it. Today I am retired and living a wonderful life in Wyoming, just outside Yellowstone National Park. My kids are grown and on their own. That moment proved to me, I can do anything I put my mind to. Life is wonderful!

In my mid-30s, I knew I had to make a change and that was the feeling I had when I left Chicago for Wyoming without knowing a soul here, ending up in a small town of 195 people. Twenty-seven years later, I still work too many hours, but instead of riding home alone on a subway every day, I work from home and begin and end each day hiking in a state park with a pack of foster dogs rescued from rough situations, training them to be the best they can be so they can be adopted. I can't wait to learn to make the waves in this beautiful shawl!

I always feel content when I finally start a new knitting or crochet project, especially whith that beautiful yarn I fell in love with at first sight and that was waiting in my stash for the perfect pattern to show up... 🤗
But that genuine feeling of happy, smiling thrill..., as a child I experienced it each year the night before Santa Claus. As an adult, each time I went to my dance courses or the first time I sang or danced on stage or when waiting for a plane and travelling to a foreign country; especially on that journey to Africa... Or the day that I bought my first car... Or when I put my makeup on and then, while driving the whole road long to meet that special friend who could become my lover... 🤗☺️
    But that was long ago...
Chandy, your presentations are perfect! 🤩 The colours of those exceptionally beautiful yarns, the photographies, the patterns, the way you accesorize and showcase them, your narrations... It's all harmony!
Well done! 👍🏼 Congratulations to the entire Expression Fiber Arts team!💜

The thrill of starting something new hit me when I first became a mother and laid eyes on my precious tiny little 4 pound twin baby boys. And in typing this, I can recall going back even further in my memories, when first hearing their heartbeats in the stethoscope. I remember I was laying down, and at hearing those heart beats, (sounding like a lot of sawing and construction going on in there! 😀) the tears just leaked out of my eyes and down into my ears! I was so in love immediately! *sigh* Such a special time in a woman's life! Thank you for making mind go down such a sweet memory lane.

My most memorable thrill of starting something new was in 2015 - my grandmother had been an avid knitter for decades, and for as many times as I tried, I could never catch on. When she lost sight in one eye, she could no longer knit. I went and spent the weekend with her and we went through all of her supplies, tools, gadgets, and patterns. I picked up a set of needles and cast on and started to knit successfully! She was so excited that she could share her art. I immediately inherited everything she had, and made her several washcloths, so I could practice different stitches and patterns. My gramma passed away in 2018, and every time I knit, I think of her and smile, feeling all warm and fuzzy. I treasure those moments with her that weekend, and still think of her with immense love.

I thought long and hard about when I had a moment like this. My feeling of excitement is kind of nerdy.
I was a stay at home mom and was picking up computer repair as a hobby.
The first time I took the cover off of a computer and looked at the inside of it, I exclaimed “WOW”! And my husband came running, asking what was going on.
I said “I HAVE to know MORE!”
And I learned and had a successful career in network administration and computer repair as well as tech support.
This shawl is beautiful and I bet that feeling comes as the waviness and feel of the beautiful pearlescent fingering catches your skin!
It looks like a fun project!

The new start for me is when I became a grandmother. I didn't think I was going to experience being one for a few reasons. I now have 1 grandson 23, and 2 granddaughters ages 14 and 3. Yes they were spaced out and by my only child. The love I have for them is 100% pure joy. There are many things that have brought me happiness, my child, my husband, my experiences in life most were good, some not so much. My love for those 3 and the love that they have for me is just beyond anything I would think possible.

That is such a nifty little spinneroo! What fun! I must get myself a dpn now. As for thrills at something new, I'm an explorer at heart and get itchy feet and wanderlust. The first time I remember the thrill is when we moved from PA to the Bay Area of Cali. So much newness, from geography to climate to place in the world! We're in FL now, and between the Bay Area and here we lived in AZ and SoCal. Been in FL now almost 13 years and the feet are itchy for sure. No move on horizon, so I explore in other ways, be it gardening, landscaping, knitting & crocheting, other crafts, languages, etc.

So basically I get that feeling, that thrill, whenever I start a new project. Whether it's knitting, crochet, calligraphy, sashiko, embroidery, Goldwork, white work, barghello .....that zing inside is what propels me to keep starting and finding something new. Not only has it become my favorite thing to do of all time but it has helped me work through some of the things I have struggled with for years! I don't exactly know what made me decide to pick up something new in my life when nothing else was working but I'm so glad I did!! The 1st that I remember was being asked to an 8th/9th grade school dance and saying yes and all that ensued from that moment. That's what's coming to mind as the earliest remembrance. That was a while ago! 🤣
Thank you for the give-a-way. Your yarn is truly lovely!!!❤️🧶

What a beautiful shawl and a neat stitch (spin). The time in my life I remember a thrill of starting something new would be learning how to knit and how much I have gone out of comfort zone to learn new techniques and trying new patterns.😎💜

But the most exciting thing for me was the day I learned we were able too adopt our two boys! There is nothing in the world like it!

For me it was when I finally found my dream job, when I was in my late 30ies. I knew that it was what I wanted to do for the rest of my working life. Now, almost 17 years later, it’s still my dream job. I work as a test manager, testing computer software, and I love that there is structure, but always something unexpected. Btw, this was a beautiful shawl ❤

Most recently, the thrill of finding crochet again. Years of caregiving, along with chronic back pain I gave up my pottery business. Needing a creative outlet, I picked up crochet again after many years away. It is truly an emotional life saver! Loving every aspect of it ... yarns, learning new stitches, reading patterns, and the beauty and accomplishment of finishing a project!
It's a wonderful gift that my mom gave by teaching me how to crochet ... now after her passing its feels like a very special connection that I have with her.

Beautiful pattern Chandi. Those twisted stitches are really pretty. I felt that thrill when I got engaged in 1976. It was the beginning of an amazing journey. Also when I started taking knitting and crochet classes about 11 years ago. Even though I had been doing both for years, I wanted to learn new things. Thank you for another lovely pattern. Happy Friday.❤

Truly sad, but I always feel good when I begin studying a new subject. Currently I'm working on a degree in computing and IT and I get that butterfly feeling as soon as my course materials arrive! I think I would work this shawl with a twist section along the bottom of the shawl where the stocking stitch section is. Lovely pattern, as always. Thanks Chandi!

I have that feeling every day. Just being alive is an awesome experience. 😊 My drive each year since I retired has been to learn a new art form, quilting, photography, watercolors, stained glass, lampwork, and learning to knit. It has brought me that joy with each time I push the envelope with a more difficult pattern.

I’m still pretty new as I crochet and always have several projects in the works, but that’s when I felt excited…😊 Hopefully, I can knit some of those beautiful patterns that you graciously share with us…🤗🥰

When my husband and I got our first home. We had waited so long and finally the time had come.
That was a very quick forty two years ago. We've had five children and now have ten grandchildren. Still happy, bit older and not much wiser.
I've been looking at this and had gone through my stash on Tuesday and was looking for a yarn or three to use.
So excited by the pattern. xxJane 🐑🌼

I love your patterns and newsletter. I remember the excitement I had when learning to knit a swatch for a sweater knit in the round (different than a flat swatch) and loved how the yarn looked after washing it. It was the hardest sweater I ever knit but the yarn was luscious. I love your yarns too. So soft! I love the technique used in this pattern and learning new things! Thank you!!

I love the ripples! I made a mini blanket with a similar pattern once before. One endeavor that's always exciting for our family is gardening/market gardening. We started growing for just us, but decided to sell weekly from our sidewalk, and included sourdough and baked goods. We share a dream to own a food truck or small restaurant... Someday. For now, it's a fun side thing we do with our 8 children, teaching them life skills and that thrill of entrepreneurship 🩷

In 1983 I joined the military (US Air Force) and I was excited and scared at the same time. I love the pattern and your lovely pearlescent fingering yarn is one of my favorites. Your singing voice is so pretty I can easily overlook the comical mispronunciation of the Queen of Souls name. I got a good laugh from both that and Tim's comment.
