    I am a crochet designer and you have inspired me to go out of my comfort zone and knit. You showed me that there are some flowy things you cannot achieve by staying stuck with crochet. Crochet works for what it works for but to get that elegant drape and a proper lace, knitting is the way to go. Thank you so much for being such an inspiration.

      I agree! There are so many gorgeous stitches with crochet, but knitting is becoming my favorite. I just started to crochet something with a new yarn and could quickly tell I needed to knit with it. Crochet just couldn't do it justice. I will always like doing both though. And I'm obsessed with beautiful yarn. Expression Fiber Arts definitely has gorgeous yarn!

    I know this video was 2 years ago now, but just watching it. I just downloaded the Sonder pattern and pre-ordered two sets of yarn in Sonder Hues and Gnome Hues. Can't wait to make this beautiful shawl for Fall! I have learned so much from watching your videos with each pattern! I was so intimidated by knitting before but have advanced so much now from your instructional videos! You're my GO-TO knitting channel!! Plus, I don't order yarn from anyone else now! I used to order from another site online but after getting your yarns, none of them compare in color or squish appeal! lol Also, I love the out-takes and your husband's filming! I’ve only knitted two long (single stitch) scarves 🧣before, so I’m very happy to have found your pattern to learn. I’m 4 rows in, and it’s the furthest I’ve gotten in two days. It’s taken about eight tries, experimenting with five or six different size/composition of needles, and a LOT of concentration for this newbie.

    • @barbarakayton1921
      @barbarakayton1921 Год назад

      After ripping the work back about 15 times (really!), I finally got the hang of it! I made some errors (including mixing up the rows 😂), but feel I am at a full beginner level finally. I opted for a neck scarf size due to time constraints. I wish I could post the finished piece here for you.

      Hi Merlyn, thank you for your question. I'm happy to help.
      From what you describe I think you're doing everything correctly. When working the Sonder shawl you will be increasing constantly on one side and should end with a lot of stitches on your needles. When you bind these stitches off there will be a long edge and that is just what you want. Does that sound like what's happening to you?
      Let me know and have a wonderful day! 💕

    all knit-wise will do? and should I do a few rounds without the yo before? to "match" the CO4 of the other corner?
    😅 oh, well, I'll come up with something...

      Hi Kathy, thank you for your comment. It is possible that your knitting is quite loose (that is not a bead thing) and thus when you use the super stretchy Jeny's Bind Off Method that it get's very long. I'd suggest using another bind off technique (like k2, *pass first st over second st, then k1; rep from * to end) just to make both edges more even. I hope this helps. Have a nice day! 🥰

      This shawl is fantastic because you don't ever decrease. Whenever the shawl is the size you like, you bind off: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/sonder.html

    My husband came home with some yarn he got at an auction, but it's a 6-weight. Kind of wondering if I couldn't make a bulky version of this pattern, for a winter-weight shawl. Hummm...

    Hi I just received 4 skeins of beautiful colors to make the Sonder, the problem I have is finishing the beginning of the Yarn and when I, thought, I did it got tangled and it’s a mess and frustrating. My local yarn store won’t ball it up for me and now I’m stuck with tangled yarn and No Sonder to be made. HELP!!!

      @ExpressionFiberArts  2 года назад

      Hi Yolanda, I'm sorry you have tangled yarn. Our yarn is always shipped in hanks and needs to be balled up before working with it. Unfortunately, we don't offer winding services either.
      If you don't have a winder we have a tutorial how to wind your yarn (ruclips.net/video/Uki32eSWkEI/видео.html). If that doesn't help, please reach out to our customer service info@expressionfiberarts.com and we'll try our best to help you.
      Have a wonderful day. 💕

    Hi, I am going to try to knit for the first time with this pattern. Will straight needles be fine for this project? I see you are using them to begin but will they be long enough? I've read the circular needles are great for shawls. I have no clue lol. Thanks so much! I am a self taught crocheter and was gifted a yarn that i just can't figure out what to make with. It really should be knit so I am going to try! Your yarn and patterns are beautiful. You are so successful, an inspiration!

      I would use circular needles, just so they can hold the amount of stitches required to knit the pattern. 😍

    But what size knitting needle do you use for this lovely shawl and how many skeins do you recommend for it?

      You can always find that information in the pattern description: www.expressionfiberarts.com/products/sonder.html
      This shawl uses a US Size 5 (3.75 mm) 32” circular needles and uses 1 skein each of four colors of our Luster Sport yarn (395 yds/4 oz).

      Hi there, so the row instructions are all included in the tutorial. The pattern additionally gives you instructions for how many inches to work in which color so you know when to alternate and has a suggestion for a bind off method. But it's not essential.
      I hope this answers your question. 💕

      Thank you so much! I really appreciate the help! So with the stitch it will increase and decrease to make that triangle shape just by doing those two rows? I am new to knitting so am trying to understand it all. In gratitude, Linnae@@ExpressionFiberArts

    You are a darling - I am making this shawl for a second time using my own yarn. I really love this pattern and have the confidence to purchasing the yarn kit in Sonder Hues.I am concerned that I'm going to do a bad job as there are not specific instructions with how many rows to do color A & B, B, B&C, and D, do we just guess? I look forward to your reply!

The one I love is Tatoo Graffiti. Do u have any suggestion what I could put with this yarn to do the stripes or would it even work?

    Hi there! That you for this amazing pattern. It's a pretty significant birthday for my mum this year so I have just got 2 of your amazing patterns to make for her.
    I do have one question and I apologise for my ignorance. How do you decrease to get the other side? Looking at this it tells us how to increase the stitches but I can work out how to go back down. Is it just knot 2 together? Sorry if this has been answered before.

    • @ExpressionFiberArts
      @ExpressionFiberArts  2 года назад +1

      What a sweet gift for your mom! I hope she loves it. So in this pattern all RS rows add 2 stitches, and then the combination of the k2tog and yo on the WS rows neither adds nor decreases the stitch count. So you don't "go back down. Your triangle will be formed by an edge on the right that is straight up from the cast on and an angled edge on the left where all of the increases are happening. Hope that helps.
