I saw a video of Tommy Lee Wallace taking a William Shatner Captain Kirk mask and easily recreating the original. When I saw that I was like theres no excuse for all the other variations of Michael Myers mask.
Fantastic video! Favorite mask is the original. The long face, black eyes and pale white color give it the mostly ghostly appearance. One thing I would have liked to have seen touched on in the video was how some of the movies hid the actor's eyes and some showed them, and what reasons went into that decision. As you said, the more you see of the monster, the less scary it is. I always though it bizarre to fully display Michael's eyes behind the mask in Halloween II while they were blacked out in the original.
I appreciate this video so much. Micheal Myers is such a big part of my childhood (I’d watch the Halloween movies secretly when my parents weren’t home) and learning so much history behind all the masks is a real treat for me. Very informative video and I love it! Thank you!
There are several facts wrong in this video, sorry Chris. For starters, the Hero mask was kept by Nick Castle after filming H1 and he had hung the mask in his house above his fireplace on a styrofoam head, which caused the mask to yellow, there is even video of him saying so himself, which I have cut together on my channel, Debra asked for the mask back, cause nobody knew where it was then Nick gave it to her for H2, where she kept it stored under her bed after each day of shooting H2, when Dick Warlock was cast, he had eventually added Velcro to the back of the neck, cause he hated the neck flaring out which is why the stretch is so extreme, he actually said that himself, cause I had that question sent to him by Nick Mulpagano. During H2, when Warlock would pull on and pull off the mask, he would grab the hair and then pinch the nose as well as pull the eyecuts, which is why all those markings are on it, from the streaks and tips that was sprayed in the hair for H1 and also why the blonde shows through more. now as for H4, the masks were cast off a an 84 "The Mask" with kirk lineage, yes, but several backups were made, because the masks were very tiny on George Wilbur, which is why the neck extension was on it, the one that had the most detail, was the one Tom wears when he impales Kelly with the shotgun. And lastly H5, it had a nose appliance put over the original nose, not just due to Don having his nose broken, but because of how Greg Nicotero had modeled it off his face, on Dons lifecast, also the H6 mask that was used in H20, is owned by Sean Clark, TonyMoranFan on Michael-Myers.Net, is Darren Hughes as well, that's his username
The original mask is iconic, but my personal favorite is the Part 6 mask. Super video love it. One thing I believe is wrong is the fact the original 78 mask was not kept in a shoe box under a bed. Smoking wouldn’t have had an effect on it due to the fact it was under a bed in a box. I read and seen an interview the original mask was kept on a fire place mantle. The heat and smoke just killed it
I’m not gonna lie to you I’m probably the only one who gets creeped out by the Halloween 4 mask specially the scene in Jamie’s bedroom with the lightning.
You think with all the money these movie companies have they could duplicate the original mask and use it as it keeps getting the #1 nod when compared to other masks. Who's to say Halloween stores don't still sell this mask in the movies as that's where Michael Myers supposedly got it from (hardware store) in the original Halloween 1978
I'd argue that Halloween II was the first one made by a major production company. Dino De Laurentiis Corporation was a major force in Hollywood in the early 80s.
I now have to say that the Halloween kills mask is more scarier than the other mask, so of course it will be number 1, and I do like the 2018 mask. the original mask is good too, especially it was scary when Michael was stalking lourie. The scariest mask in my opinion now, is the Halloween Kills mask with the burn marks.
I think the Stan Winston H20 mask has a great sculpt. It was just lit too flat much of the time, and Miner wanted the giant eyeholes because he wanted to show Myers's eyes a lot, for whatever reason. So that throws it off a bit.
I think the original is the best. There’s something about the almost “drooped” (I guess you could say) soul-less eyes and the sagging cheekbones. The eyebrows weren’t goofy and I feel like ‘78 is the only movie where his hair doesn’t look ridiculous. It’s just so simple
Funny thing is that the cover of Halloween 4 has one of the most iconic images of the mask ever, almost better than the original. He looks absolutely narly in that image but that mask isn't anywhere in the movie. 🤔 Oh, and the 2018 looks like my grandmorther about to burst out crying.
It is in the movie. Sort of. They didn't do a good job converting the Kirks they received. All they had to do was rip the sideburns off and get rid of those dumb brows-- maybe add some weathering too, and it would have looked somewhat like the original 78 one. The round eyecuts also make it look friendly, unfortunately.
Am I alone when I say I love the H4 and H5 mask? Maybe because I grew up with those ones but I find H4 to be particularly unsettling an eerie. The opening bedroom scene in Halloween 4 is so creepy! What of my favorite scenes of all time.
For me the best mask is the current one from the last few films, on display on your desk. Definitely going to be my next Halloween costume. The worst mask for me is the one from Halloween 4 followed by 5.
Ok seriously, just subbed. Sending my TOTS '78 to Simon...f**k if this isn't an exciting gd time for Halloween fans! Keep up the good work and spirit, man. Happy Halloween!
I actually have a DP '84 The Mask! Not the very first look, I believe the second version. It's still in great condition considering it was made 3 years after Halloween 2
The Tyler Mane version of the mask always gave me a Frankenstein vibe. I understand the criticism, but I'm a big fan of the hobo Michael Myers with ripped mask and hunting knife from the sequel. The one I find the worst by far is the one from H20.
I think it's hard to include the original mask in a ranking if the standard is what looks most like the original. If the standard is simply, which fits the best and is most scary I think the Halloween 2018 mask is number 1 and then followed by Halloween 1978
The first one, I think, will always be the best. I love how it’s a real mask the crew managed to find (of course they altered it, changing the colour and hair) this… Pale-faced man. It reminds me a lot of the original Cybermen from Doctor Who (1966’s, The Tenth Planet). The mask looks so uncannily human but the fact that it has no expression, eyes or colour, it just looks freaky, and it being a real mask makes Micheal so much freakier as it seems so much more real as… well a real serial killer could have used that mask. My other favourite is the 2018/21 one. I love how it’s aged. Not like latex, but like a human face. It looks older, but it also seems… newer. I do really like the burn marks over it in the Halloween Kills posters. Honestly, I’m not interested in Michael’s real face. The mask IS his face to me. Others like Halloween 4 and even H20 look downright goofy, especially when you can see his eyes. I don’t dislike Rob Zombie’s mask, but… I have the same problem with it that I have with the whole movie. It’s overdone. It’s the same as the Texas Chainsaw remake, the movie is just over-played and over-produced and it’s the same with the mask.
@@s9l.k973 Someone's a little quick to the trigger? 😂 I was just making my point. The only factual point about the movie in this comment thread. Go kick rocks kid.
William Shatner said the 1978 Mask was used in Star Trek as Captain Kirk’s Death Mask. They made a mold of Mr. Shatner’s face and created the mask so they could add prosthetics to it in the episode of Star Trek it was used in. He then to.d the story of the Prop Guy going into the Store and buying the Shatner Mask.
A great video. Hope you keep it up for years to come. My favorite masks as far as the movies are the original from the first two films and the 2018 mask. The only one I care to own is the 2018 one. However the scariest mask has to be the original Shatner mask pre-Myers.
Amazing run-down on the masks, it's always fascinated me how hard it is to replicate the original mask in both looks and feelings evoked

I'd argue that Halloween II was the first one made by a major production company. Dino De Laurentiis Corporation was a major force in Hollywood in the early 80s.
I love the mask of the original part 2 film. It scared the bajeezus out of me as a kid!
always found how the mask looked in II to be the creepiest one growing up
Halloween Kills 2021 Theme : The Shape Official Video ( Remaster) Exclusive Uploadruclips.net/video/mU9saXmrh2U/видео.html.....,
Yeah me too. Since it was weathered it looked the scariest to me.
There are the 3 Silver Shamrock masks in the playground scene.
The good ol warlock stretch . Always fun if you ask me
I now have to say that the Halloween kills mask is more scarier than the other mask, so of course it will be number 1, and I do like the 2018 mask. the original mask is good too, especially it was scary when Michael was stalking lourie. The scariest mask in my opinion now, is the Halloween Kills mask with the burn marks.

Can’t beat that original mask from 1978
I think the Stan Winston H20 mask has a great sculpt. It was just lit too flat much of the time, and Miner wanted the giant eyeholes because he wanted to show Myers's eyes a lot, for whatever reason. So that throws it off a bit.
Sweet video bro!
2018 mask and the 2021 mask were utterly terrifying.
I think the original is the best. There’s something about the almost “drooped” (I guess you could say) soul-less eyes and the sagging cheekbones. The eyebrows weren’t goofy and I feel like ‘78 is the only movie where his hair doesn’t look ridiculous. It’s just so simple
my favorite masks are 1978, h2, curse, h20 h6 mask, h20 stan winston, rob zombie halloween 1, 2018, kills and kills flashback
the one in the return of michael myers is so botched i can’t even 😭
There’s just something about the 2018 that feels more like Micheal Myers than any of the others. Just the sculpt and paint it just has that feel.
I agree man, that shits dope
@@joshcapa2901 for me H2018 feels like a watered down Rob Zombie michael myers.
@@xxxod in fairness that’s like saying that all masks are just reshaded version of the original.
I looovvee Rob Zombie’s mask
Hey Chris I love the channel man really like what you did with the kills mask !

Am I alone when I say I love the H4 and H5 mask? Maybe because I grew up with those ones but I find H4 to be particularly unsettling an eerie. The opening bedroom scene in Halloween 4 is so creepy! What of my favorite scenes of all time.
They're definitely both guilty pleasures for me
Me too omg !!!!
Halloween 2 had the best and Scariest Michael Myers mask out of all the other ones for sure
For me the best mask is the current one from the last few films, on display on your desk. Definitely going to be my next Halloween costume. The worst mask for me is the one from Halloween 4 followed by 5.
Ghost joining this movie it's just breathtaking
The video is amazing! And your doctor Loomis impression was accurate
Ok seriously, just subbed. Sending my TOTS '78 to Simon...f**k if this isn't an exciting gd time for Halloween fans! Keep up the good work and spirit, man. Happy Halloween!
Cool video & I agree with your ranking.🤘
Great video Chris! I love your stuff. This one was very good

I actually have a DP '84 The Mask! Not the very first look, I believe the second version. It's still in great condition considering it was made 3 years after Halloween 2

Michael is a legend no matter what his mask looks like cuz Michael is Michael regardless.
Different type of video, I love it
Great video my man!!!
The Tyler Mane version of the mask always gave me a Frankenstein vibe. I understand the criticism, but I'm a big fan of the hobo Michael Myers with ripped mask and hunting knife from the sequel. The one I find the worst by far is the one from H20.
Love this! Amazing and informative video as always!!!!
Here before this video goes viral!! Let’s GO!! I’m ready for Halloween kills!!
I love these history videos!

I agree with resurrection mask its my top fave behind the og and burned
Incredible video and loved your behind the scenes story for each of the mask! Simply awesome!!! Thank you Chris!
MM was in part 3 when the lot attendant at the has station was watching Halloween on tv!
16:55 Didn’t Michaels face get exposed in the original 78 film?
It did indeed and played by Tony Moran in that instance as opposed to Wallace/ Castle
I enjoyed that! halloween is iconic, so is the mask. Cool to see the appreciation of it. Hope the new movie is good.
When Laurie rips off Michael's mask, it's not Nick Castle but it's Tony Moran
Original is definitely the best but I have a soft spot for them all. And I can’t wait for Halloween kills
This is an interesting new content format
I think it's hard to include the original mask in a ranking if the standard is what looks most like the original. If the standard is simply, which fits the best and is most scary I think the Halloween 2018 mask is number 1 and then followed by Halloween 1978
the halloween kills mask is pretty good
Halloween H20 is my total guilty pleasure.
Man the 2018 mask is just beautiful!
Can we talk about how Michale literally took off his mask in the first movie though
He didn't take it off. Laurie ripped it off in a struggle.
@@8ZakattacK9 you get the point bozo so stfu
