Everything you said about Halloween 2 I agree with, it’s the first film amplified for me and I love it the most. It is in fact my favorite horror movie ever too. With Warlocks performance being robotic I like to attribute that to Michael basically running on fumes in terms of the human part of himself. After being stabbed numerous times, shot six times, and falling off the balcony the human side of Michael is basically dead meanwhile the evil shape still roams. He is completely inhuman by the end not even looking down the stairs while he walks! The only human trait that remains in him is when Laurie calls out his name that stops him in his tracks for a second but that’s it. I’m probably alone in this thought but this makes his performance my personal favorite as well only rivaled by Castle, Courtney, and George

I have and always will stand by the Halloween ends mask. I absolutely love the moldy look of Michael in that film. The camera and lighting work really helped a lot too. Say what you will about the story of Halloween ends, but theres a lot of moments where Michael looks genuinely creepy. I don't know what it is. I loved the 2018 mask, I thought the kills mask was absolutely awesome, but from the moment I first saw the ends look, I fell head over heels in love with it. Without a doubt my favorite look aside from the 78/HII mask. He literally looks like a dead man walking.

I’m sure you’re gonna put H5 at the bottom but I’ve always loved it. I remember as a kid in the video store, always looking at that box and thinking the mask was very scary looking. By the time I was old enough to watch the movie, that mask was legendary to me.
I grew up in the 80s watching the slasher sequels, body horror and video nasties. Michael Myers look achieved perfection with Halloween II (1981) and none of the sequels or reboots that followed have been as good. And yes I am a fan of the hated and underrated Halloween III
I normally pride myself on being able to spot stuff and have seen Halloween H2O more times than most and can’t believe I didn’t spot the cgi mask in that film till it was pointed out to me a few years ago.
H4 was my first Halloween film so I have a soft spot for the mask. I think Jamie’s nightmare is where the mask looks the best, the low lighting and quick lighting flash really sells the creepy factor, especially that shot of him in the mirror with the lighting flash.
It does make sense that it looks different (unlike H5), but it does not look right. The paint job was far too bright white and thick, washing out the details. Its baffling that they somehow failed to remove the sideburns. The whole portrayal of Michael was not right. Wilbur was too big and slow, he seemed to follow Dick Warlock's portrayal more than Nick Castle's. It's certainly not the worst portrayal (again, H5). But it's far removed from the 1978 version.
When it comes to H4's mask, I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. It's a case of wasted potential, more than anything else. They had an opportunity to replicate the original mask perfectly, but the production was so rushed, they botched the Kirk-to-Myers conversion. So it's not the worst mask, and it does make sense that it's a new mask, so it looks a bit different, but it looks different in a variety of negative ways. And when you consider how good it could have looked, had they taken more time and care with the conversion, it's just a letdown.
You've probably had this idea already but I'd like to see a Jason Vorhees murder weapon tier list. Like yeah, any slasher has multiple ways to dispatch teenagers but I feel like F13 is the king of grabbing random shit for the killshot.

This mask desveres so much more praise. This one is imho the best of the original sequels. Very close to the OG while still maintaining its own flare and particular brand of "Blank, pale, and emotionless" expression. It looks sinister in a way. 7. Halloween Kills / Ends. Solid masks, not solid movies. Putting them together because they're basically the same one, aside from the added mold and weathering. To note, the flashback one in Kills is near picture perfect to the OG but is only there for a few scenes so I don't want to rate it on it's own. 8. Halloween 4. Shut up if you don't like this mask. Doulble shut up if you don't like this movie. The mask would have been damn close to the OG if they didn't have to repaint them on set quickly and actually took off the eyeborws and sideburns. Fumbled the bag when it was already in the end zone. 9. RZH2 Torn Mask. Love Tyler as Micahel and honestly RZH2 was more a character study than a slasher, truly underrated. The torn mask worked for the story and Tyler made it look badass with his hobo get up. 9. H20 Stan Winston. I like this mask depending on what scene it is / how its lit. Does its job well. Doesn't look much like the OG Myers but still works. They should have just stuck with the H6 mask. 10. Halloween 5. They were going for Micahel Myers and landed somewhere near Michael Jackson. 11. H20 CGI Mask. At least it has cheek bones. 12. H20 KNB Mask. What were you even going for? Beat by a CGI mask. Embarrasing.

Additional fun fact about the Additional Shape: The doctor whose face he pushes through the bars was played by his father, Fred Lerner. Brad Hardin did also get to play the reshoot Shape, as you mentioned, in some second unit gore effect stuff that they inserted into the death scenes. So it would be his hands twisting the guy's neck as his vertebrae pop out, for instance, since he knew the props and how to handle them. I don't think Lerner gets enough credit. The H6 reshoots are some wacko left-field X-Files wannabe nonsense, but Lerner gave a good Myers performance, in his own right, in that bananapants third act that Joe Chappelle and Paul Freeman made up as they went along.

I just finished re-hauling my first mask, a 2018, and i've grown to have a burning love with the mask. I've noticed so many details over this time that make it stand out above the rest for me. Also, just wondering if you've ever seen the two My Bloody Valentine movies and what you think about them?
The Halloween Kills mask is my favorite, followed by 2018, then the original, and then Ends. I also kind of dig the H5 mask. There's just something off and kind of freaky about it.
I didn't mind the Halloween 4 mask, he did pick it up from a Halloween store in the movie, so it's a bit more "cheap looking" I guess is the word for it. However some shots I thought it looked kind of creepy.
I never knew Micheal was played by Sabretooth in the reboot lol. I only saw the first of the reboots (besides the original movies, pretty sure I saw all of those)
The new Halloween Trilogy, Halloween 6, and Halloween II (1981) alone are the closest to the Original mask we’d ever get. These masks don’t get enough credit.

hey Chris if you had to put a list of Michael's clown mask he wore as a kid and Corey's scarecrow mask in which order would it be? Mine is like this: 3-Original 1978 clown 2-Rob Z 2007 clown 1-David G 2022 scarecrow I think these masks are worth an honorable mention at the very best.
Starting with Part 4, why didn't they just make a new mask from scratch? Were those Star Trek masks that scarce by 1988? It's ridiculous it took so many years for them to replicate the original mask for the new trilogy's 1978 flashback scene.
The biggest thing that sets the good/decent masks apart from the goofy/bad ones is the neckline. Half of the reason the original and the DGG masks look so good is that not only do the necks taper naturally, but the edge isn't drawing any attention. Now look at H4, H5 and even RZ's Halloween. Just...ew.
The original ‘78 mask will always be the best, but the mask from H-Kills is definitely a close second.👍 The H5 mask is definitely the worst in my opinion. It’s like they didn’t even try to make the mask look similar to the rest.
Only thing I really disagree with is the Halloween 4 mask being below the H20 and Zombie H2 masks. The H4 mask isn't great by any means, but the fact that you never see Michael's eyes should put it above those other two, or at least in the same "Oh My" tier.
Coming from someone who's favorite movie is Halloween 4, It's really annoying when people use that same still image where that super bright light shines on his mask and take away the shadows and detail from the mask, everyone knows that masks never look as good with a super bright light shined on it so why should we use that one still image as an example of how its bad?? There's plenty of shots from Halloween 4 where the mask looks arguably amazing.
That’s actually a good point! I remember watching Halloween 4 on cable tv at my grandma’s house and as soon as I saw Michael’s mask I was like “Nope! That ain’t Michael.. they fucked up.” Fast forward to now and I dot mind it. Halloween 4 is great, and I love the soundtrack. I always listen to it this time of year 🎃🍂

@@daytonsouthall1137 the lighting they did in the first two was perfection, but if you were to shine a bright ass light directly on them it obviously wouldn't look good, imo they did an amazing job with the lighting in halloween 4, id say the only time the mask really looked bad was when the bright light was shining directly on to the mask in that split second shot. He literally used a picture of a fanmade mask that looks nothing like the actual movie to say that its bad 💀💀
H5 is such a flawed movie that I think the mask and Shank’s performance get bad reps. They did a pretty solid job throughout the film of lighting and shooting it well and I’ve really grown to enjoy that aspect of the film.
I agree except the producer's cut for 6 is so much worse, I get people like it mimics the original, but it's not the original, at least the theater version is fun and has the gore. Also no incest, not a fan of the producer's cut incest

The new Halloween Trilogy, Halloween 6, and Halloween II (1981) alone are the closest to the Original mask we’d ever get. These masks don’t get enough credit.

I think these masks are worth an honorable mention at the very best.

Starting with Part 4, why didn't they just make a new mask from scratch? Were those Star Trek masks that scarce by 1988? It's ridiculous it took so many years for them to replicate the original mask for the new trilogy's 1978 flashback scene.
The KNB mask from H20 always looked like Jack Black to me, especially in that screen shot.
The biggest thing that sets the good/decent masks apart from the goofy/bad ones is the neckline. Half of the reason the original and the DGG masks look so good is that not only do the necks taper naturally, but the edge isn't drawing any attention. Now look at H4, H5 and even RZ's Halloween. Just...ew.

The H5 mask is definitely the worst in my opinion. It’s like they didn’t even try to make the mask look similar to the rest.
There is something so unsettling about the Kills mask I would be absolutely terrified if i saw that in person.

Only thing I really disagree with is the Halloween 4 mask being below the H20 and Zombie H2 masks. The H4 mask isn't great by any means, but the fact that you never see Michael's eyes should put it above those other two, or at least in the same "Oh My" tier.

Coming from someone who's favorite movie is Halloween 4, It's really annoying when people use that same still image where that super bright light shines on his mask and take away the shadows and detail from the mask, everyone knows that masks never look as good with a super bright light shined on it so why should we use that one still image as an example of how its bad?? There's plenty of shots from Halloween 4 where the mask looks arguably amazing.
That’s actually a good point! I remember watching Halloween 4 on cable tv at my grandma’s house and as soon as I saw Michael’s mask I was like “Nope! That ain’t Michael.. they fucked up.” Fast forward to now and I dot mind it. Halloween 4 is great, and I love the soundtrack. I always listen to it this time of year 🎃🍂
Well can point you out a moment where the H2 and OG mask looked bad? If you watched the video, he said they knew how lighting works with the masks, the makers of Halloween 4 didn’t do a good job of that
@@daytonsouthall1137 the lighting they did in the first two was perfection, but if you were to shine a bright ass light directly on them it obviously wouldn't look good, imo they did an amazing job with the lighting in halloween 4, id say the only time the mask really looked bad was when the bright light was shining directly on to the mask in that split second shot. He literally used a picture of a fanmade mask that looks nothing like the actual movie to say that its bad 💀💀

The original looks goofy? Look at Lord Kayoss' video of the 2018 mask vs the rotten hero. It looks creepy!
H5 is such a flawed movie that I think the mask and Shank’s performance get bad reps. They did a pretty solid job throughout the film of lighting and shooting it well and I’ve really grown to enjoy that aspect of the film.

Not bad kid but you missed the point of part 4!!! Return of Michael Myers was done as a killer mime which is a very clever departure and is bizarre how low you rank it. I get it its not part 1n2 MICHAEL but for what it is its still creepy.
