    I would love the haptic trackpads on next gen Zephyrus lineup. Glass is fine build / feel wise, but haptic is what makes it more usable for me coming from the MacBook trackpads. - Asus ROG Flow X16 (has to have the mini-LED Nebula screen, only one worth getting).

    Now in 2024 I'm probably gonna get the Asus Zephyrus G16 with the AMD 370 cpu (Zen 5).

    Asus knows how to build the PCs, but they never done it completely right.
    Choose the 4080 version G14 2023 for a relatively portable device that can do some machine learning stuff.
    They released the zenbook 14 with the power budget that we can use 7940+4080 just like 2023 G14 but never put 4080 on it.😢
    They even reserved a memory slot for upgrade.

    Probably the best creators laptop on the market - which is ironic considering that ASUS themselves just launched a new ProArt model recently. Still, unlike you I find it criminal to not have a numpad on a machine for creators. Working in any CAD software with just the trackpad key-screen instead of a physical one is borderline impossible. I understand that has a lot to do with the new 16 inch craze (bigger screens are still better. Sorry nay-sayers plus air-plane travellers) and the fact that speakers on the front sides are objectively better. However I would take a more comfortable and complete keyboard over sound-quality and a more centered aesthetic any day of the week.
    When it comes to keyboard comfort the 2023 Asus ProArt was by far the best laptop out there imho, the newer model is a huge step backwards in this regard, AND lacks power. This one has the power, but it's last year tech with a '24 price tag, and still would force me to use an external keyboard or numpad. Really annoying!
    I hope 2025 has something that fits my creator's niche a bit more, or it will be gamer laptop again for the first time in a decade. And I really don't want to show up with a heavy gamer case to a client! :/

      @JoshCravesTech  2 месяца назад +1

      @@lukecarson1828 $1750 is absolutely insane. For the 4080 right?? Even for any 4080 laptop that’s an insane price. But yeah so if you’re seeing random spikes up then that would be a sign of background processes from Windows or some other software or driver. First, try enabling battery saver mode in Windows so it stops doing things like updates and stuff in the background, and change the power mode in Windows to “Best Efficiency”. That should hopefully help. Make sure you hit that “one button” for battery saver at the top of MyAsus that I showed in the software part of the video. I forget what all that does though.
      I REALLY wish G-Helper worked on this laptop cause then you could do some real fine tuning. You might be able to get something like UXTU or Throttlestop to work and maybe drag down the PL1/PL2 when on battery to something like 10-15W max and see if that works as well.

    Can you compare this to the Legion 7i gen 9 with the i9-14900HX, RTX 4070, 3.2K display, 32GB, and 1TB? I’m planning to get the Legion 7i for college, productivity/programming, video editing, and gaming

    • @JoshCravesTech
      @JoshCravesTech  2 месяца назад +4

      @@Namu4Life yeah I have the Legion 7i with me right now! Except mine is the 1600p display. The colors are definitely not as vibrant (nor would they be on the 3.2K since it’s still IPS) unless you get the mini-LED model then you’d have both brightness and high color gamut. The Legion’s CPU gets HOT! It cannot hit the full potential of the 14900HX because that CPU is just way too demanding and power-hungry for that chassis. The area to the right of the trackpad also gets pretty hot on your hands due to the 2-fan system not being able to fully cool every part of the laptop. Battery life also kinda sucks. I’m getting around 4-6 hours at the very most with all battery saving features enabled. The 4070 is good, but still nowhere near as good for video and gaming as the 4080/4090. And the fan tuning is a little wonky with the Balanced mode being way too loud for my tastes. And silent mode can even ramp the fans up at times.
      As for pros, the Legion is very sleek looking and has a nice glass trackpad and comfortable keyboard that feels a bit better to type on than the Zenbook. It’s not as premium feeling as the Zenbook, and it’s not the most “Slim” either, which is why I think they took the “Slim” out of the name this year. It’s bigger than the Zenbook in all dimensions, and thicker. But it is lighter so that’s a plus. It also has Advanced Optimus and Gsync for no screen-tearing and GPU switching on the fly. You also get a second SSD slot.
      So idk, for a college laptop, I don’t think I’d pick the Legion. I’d probably go with a Zephyrus G16, G14, or this Zenbook. Or even a 2023 Flow X16, and I have reviews for all of those. They all offer much better battery life, better fan tuning, and more portability than the Legion while all having similar or better performance in games and video editing.

I like the num pad and the additional keys as they'll be very helpful in productivity & programming. The G14 & G16 (AMD AI) is maxed out at RTX 4070. The G16’s intel is maxed out at RTX 4090. I don't know if they're going to be worth it because they are expensive as hell (that includes this laptop, Zenbook Pro 16x). • @JoshCravesTech
      @JoshCravesTech  2 месяца назад +1

      @@Ch3CKP0INT. yeah you could easily get that out of the G16. Burn-in isn’t nearly as big of an issue as it used to be thanks to modern panel technology. Also the S-stripe subpixel layout makes it the most burn-in resistant panel you can get. All the settings they have on by default are a huge help, like pixel shift and the screen saver. Static elements cause the most risk for burn-in but doing things like auto hiding the taskbar and not having your brightness maxed out all the time help a lot. And if your game has an option to turn down brightness of hud elements that helps too
