As someone who has played close to 10.000 matches of World of Tanks, I can confirm that this is a very accurate simulation of how a match goes. The german tank spends the whole match camping behind a house, the sherman BLOWS UP IMMEDIATELY, the russian tank is new at the game and drives seemingly aimless around in the open until he explodes and the cromwell is the seasoned hardcore player with the premium consumables who kills everyone. :D 10/10
HAHAHAHAHA
I think I need to try the MMO. This was hilarious :)
I bought into the previous incarnation of this game, TANKS, played a few games with my dad who is in his 60s and remembers the classic ww2 movies of the 60s and 70s. We got some enjoyment out of that simple system so I scaled it up and showed him Tank War from Bolt Action and now we play that on the living room floor at his house when I go out and visit.
I have 2 criticisms, no lake for the arty to drown in and no cliffs to push your team mates off.
I wonder if there will be a bush to hide the Maus
Back in the early 70's we played a shoot 'am tank game using Roco (sp?) mini-tanks. We made up our own rules and used our little kid feet to measure how far a tank could shoot. Thank you for a great blast from the past!
Was kinda of interested in this now I’m really interested in it. Ash me, you and my wallet really needs to have a heart to heart!
Love the Duxford reference. Loved that place as a child.
The first tank I ever painted was my buddy's Imperial guard Chimera. I went overboard on mudding it up according to him, but I thought it looked pretty good! Love worn looking tanks
Thank you for the clear overview of the game. It looks like it will be more fun with multiple players; each controlling a single tank. A Battletech style game for this set of rules could be fun.
If the Devs let us know how all the points are determined, then yeah, I could see this rule set being really useful for any sci-fi setting
I hope they plan to release more tanks after the five waves of expansions, there are so many more tanks to choose from. Not to mention other nations as well. I really enjoy this game.
Great intro video. Sure, I play "historical" games like Bolt Action but if I thought I could get my family to play it I'd definitely get this for the fun of it.
To paraphrase Patches O'Houlihan, if you can pilot a starfighter, you can pilot a tank!
Of course the Sherman was the first tank to catch fire. LOL!
Funny story: most military vehicles dont actually have keys: in fact it's a joke in the military to get the new guy to go check out the keys for the 7 ton trucks. There is in fact one set of keys on a CH-46, though: to lock the crew door to close the aircraft up, but the actual lock usually isnt installed (not that the lock would do anything, you can access hydraulic controls to open the back from the outside). The Germans actually had keys to some of their tanks, but usually keys are one tiny thing a junior soldier can easily lose to destroy the combat effectiveness of a massive asset.
Cool game, i will get a core set, thanks!
Dude you are awesome. I didnt even know there was a mini gaming for tanks. Now more reasons to paint tanks for dioramas.
Lol the first hit sets the Sherman on fire
Historically accurate at least lol
Zippo!
There is plenty of evidence to show that the early Sherman was no more likely to catch fire than other WW2 tanks including PzIII, PZ IV and Panthers, later WW2 Shermans were a lot less likely to burn than German tanks due to the later Sherman's wet ammo storage. Check any google search for Sherman tank burning/ronson/zippo myth.
Zippo was the Sherman flamethrower tank and there is no credible evidence that zippo was used as a reference to the Sherman's burning "ability".
Belton Cooper is responsible for a number of falsehoods about Sherman survivability.
Looks interesting, but I'll stick with 'What a Tanker!' by Too Fat Lardies for a different spin on tank-only combat with a bit more of a historical flavour - but both are fun beer n' pretzels games so whatever floats your panzer really.
With every day Ash looks more and more like Arcturus Mengsk from Starcraft1
This looks like a simple and fun introductory game.
I just wish they somehow incorporated different armour values into the system. They already have you measuring the 180-degree arc, and give a negative on the defense rolls for side shots. Doesn't feel like adding armour values to the front/sides/back would slow down the game that much. And preferrably as an extra step instead of just altering the successes.
I used to play the old Mongoose game Battlefield Evolution with pre-painted miniatures. One thing I liked was that the game was more skirmish (with vehicles and squads) and allowed you to play in constricted urban environments. Has anyone seen anything more recent like that, that would work for 15mm? I'd love to use my Team Yankee mini's for something more skirmish like (but fast playing).
I really dig Team Yankee, but I love the skirmish feel of World of Tanks that you have shown. I'd much rather play with smaller forces where you move units individually rather than swarms of tanks.
Tanks for watching!
I bought this game for my son. Now we have a lot of fun
This reminds me of the older version TANKS we used to have some awesome times playing it
I believe this is a re-imagining off of that line. Gale Force 9 publishes Tanks. tanks.gf9games.com
Love the video.
I have 15mm WWII tanks from when I was in high school (need to find my crusaders and panzer IIIs, but I have Shermans and Tigers, probably need to be repainted and reglued though)
Please do more of these!
Great video
Thank you for this excellent video! As cool as this looks, I already play a lot of BattleTech, and this doesn't seem to do all that much differently than BattleTech, aside from the scale. I could see this as being a nice rules set for like an alternate-history RPG, but the fact it doesn't conform to historical standards and seems more like a tie-in to the video game kind of turns me off. I was an RPG-player first long before I became a wargamer, so things like universe consistency and other such topics is very important to me. Don't get me wrong, the game looks fun, and I hope people enjoy it, but I can definitely tell its not for me. Still, awesome to see another video from you, Ash!
I wish there was more information on how to set up your first game. Neither the videos nor the instruction manual seemed clear on how the initial setup of how to you aquire or use upgrade cards. What the numbers on the cards indicate anything like that
You should try out What A Tanker! by Too Fat Lardies. Light rules with "enjoyable frustration."
Cool game
Back in my day we used to play wot on a table
It looks like the GF9 Tanks game re-skinned as World 'o' Tanks
It is.
Did you not notice your Cromwell moved through the corner of the house, at the start of play?
So do the USSR tanks get a special rule to represent Russian Bias(tm)?
Seriously though it looks like a nice simple skirmish game that you can play quickly. Seems perfect for a beer and pretzels kinda thing or for introducing people new to tabletop wargaming.
Good overview! Not for me, but interesting
Think if you had tanks from Flames of war you could just slot them in, if you had spare cards for them atleast
Absolutely! The WoT tanks are merely pre-assembled and primed individual tanks from FoW sets. Much like the GF9 models for Tanks were individual sprues from FoW plastic boxes.
Also 3D printing tanks is very much an option
will they also come out with modern tanks for this?
Ok this makes me think of girls und panzer
Now we can play "Girls und Panzer"!
I plan on doing that straight away
Yo... this is the ONLY reason I have interest in this game...
@@joahnaut
L.m..l
Didn't they try this a couple times before?
RIP My Wallet After Buying This
Is this not the old TANKS game with WOT units and more prebuilt?
Not keen om mixing axis-allies a lot. Soviet vs US/UK fine but not germans on both sides etc...
Is there a good ww2 table top game? Tanks and infantry would be preferable. I mean there's got to be one out there
Check out Flames of War or Bolt Action :)
@@GuerrillaMiniatureGames Ok thanks
Where is a Bolschev and where is a North-Star?)
Ash....I take offense....my M1A1 was factory clean after every trip to the washrack.😂😂😂😂😂
Impressive!
Haha, but in the field, how long did that factory clean last? Exactly 2.3 seconds after the first track link contacts the ground? I'd be impressed if it stayed clean coming back from the wash rack
@@GammaAKF Hey, but for a few minutes it was showroom new. Especially in 1991 when it got repainted from desert sand back to NATO 3 color Green, Brown, Black.
@@jefferydraper4019 I bet! Tricolor had a quality look to it. Factory new is great to look at and line tanks up for inspections, but so long as its clean where it counts, danks deserve a little grime to show they work. We always had a joke in the wing that the best looking birds were the ones that never flew
@@GammaAKF that would be HQ66 and HQ55 the BN Cdr and S3 tanks.
the T-34 got robbed! 2 crits for no damage. that's garbage. Sure, it took nothing in return, but I would rather have gotten some damage on my target, would have given them a better chance to pull out the victory
funny miniature minecraft funny figure zombie...
Mediocre rebrand of a mediocre game.
But an easy to get into and easy to learn game that plays decently.
It's weird, isn't this the third redo of this "X-wing" style game?
For $40, its impressively cheap if you're just looking to introduce someone to miniature wargaming. There might be some cheaper alternatives available (like the BattleTech Beginner Box, which I think is $20), but a lot of people will more readily recognize World of Tanks and real world tanks from history a lot more than giant fighting robots. Its simple (ish?) enough for new people to the hobby to understand, but like I've said in another comment, the fact that its more-or-less a historically-inaccurate tank game that plays a lot like Alpha Strike kind of turns me off of it.
@@tomryan3768 Yeah, pre-painted miniatures, specialized dice, crit decks, upgrades, and movement templates--It feels like once Fantasy Flight introduced the concept, everyone started to copy the formula. I guess a lot of people prefer pre-painted stuff as opposed to painting it themselves.
@@DarkKnightCuron it's impressively expensive if we consider "Tanks" The same game with the previous brand was 19€
