I'm so happy Nathan is with andre reviewing trucks again.
Agreed. More Nathan.
I agree, Nathan is great. I have learned a lot from him over the years.
However, every time I see him, I think he is from another planet...
No more boot, too
Yeah where has Nathan been man?
Me to
I purchased a 2020 AT4 with the 6.2 in February. I absolutely love the truck and it's features. I use it as a daily driver for work that includes towing a few times a month. I've put 28k miles on it to date and have averaged 17.4mpg. For an everyday work truck you can not go wrong with the AT4. The Raptor is a beast and there is nothing bad I can say about it. For the money, features avaliable, durability and efficiency, I would choose the AT4 time and again. Great video guys. Happy New Year!
I love the Raptor but I’m with Nathan on this one , AT4 for daily use, just all around better for that. Another good and fun video, thanks for the fun content guys!
That "No, you're wrong!" moment was pure gold.
I owned both trucks and I'm with Nathan. I traded in my raptor for the 6.2L AT4. In my opinion, the Sierra has better tech, better comfort and a better look for the everyday driver.
Bro what business you do man?, may you get more cars
can you give your advice on 2.7 and 3.0 engines of sierra 1500?
I have a 2020 carbon pro with a 6.2 and i love it. Does everything i need it to do for everyday things. Cant be more happier with my purchase.
Your videos are great! I just faced this very decision. I bought the AT4. Thanks, TFL!
I love this unscripted style it feels like I’m literally behind the camera with you guys
At the 0:16 mark I thought to myself for a split second, who’s this guy walking into the video frame. Then I realized that it’s Nathan. Excellent way to start the New Year. Hope he’s doing well and will contribute more on camera in 2021.
Happy New Year to the tfl crew and looking forward to another year of tfl entertainment.
What happened to Nathan?
SofTopper on a Raptor, come on guys take it off, it looks awful...
HA HA!!! it's military lol.
And anyone can steal the stuff inside it outherwise I think it's ok
It's good if you want to stealth the Raptor to make it look like a senior's truck.
After 10 years he will be towing your raptor to the mechanic. Here we use diesel engine (30 year old and older) the chassis, body frames are falling apart but the engine, they just don't know when to give up. Here you can see ladies, moms and gays driving the gas engines. 😂
@@allenflores6373 ya diesel are way better and usually the companies make them the best even vag diesels and BMWs are very good
I just bought a 2021 AT4 with the 3.0l. Just hit 500 miles and so far, it's incredible.
Happy New Year. We've been enjoying your videos all year. Thank you guys for doing a great job.
Andres " wait! No you're wrong" was his best yet! Funny stuff man!
Please remove that cover from the raptor
haha agreed
Ihhuhhivjoi.hhikj
That “Soft Topper” is an ugly, ugly thing that ruins the looks of the Raptor.
LOVE my Softopper.
I kind of like it, as long as it's doing what is supposed to which is keep stuff dry inside.
Good to see Nathan out of the 2020 boot.
Great review guys.
Always a pleasure viewing your content.
Happy New Year TFL family.
What happened to you guys actually going off road and driving these things?
They will.
@@shitloveaduck first of all why did you change your name bronco guy and second of all winter means we can actually see which trucks are for real/ good in the snow.
@@shitloveaduck I don’t see how that was asked with bad intent I was just asking a question and no I don’t know you personally or worship you or anything so that’s why I didn’t know about your 6 names I’m so sorry my Lord
You know the old saying, "You brake it, you buy it" lol
I have a rare super cab mid package raptor. I just ordered a at4 just like the one Nathan is driving. My raptor is rated for 6k towing and it won’t pull my new 5,000 pound tractor. Sad to see it go but I’m excited for the duramax and the mpg’s.
I love this review and the GMC is cool, but I drive a 2020 Raptor as my daily and love it such a comfortable drive and the fact that I can’t take it to the desert and have a blast wouldn’t trade that!!
The Chevy ZR2 is the best off-road vehicle GM makes currently.
They said GMC vehicle. Not GM.
@@dmegahan they clearly said general motors
@@dmegahan they said General Motors
100% agree
@@corylee2261 ya. My bad. I relistened and it does say GM. I think it was just a simple mess up
I don't think GM will ever have a Raptor rival
Definitely not a raptor competitor but they still have the Colorado zr2 for what it’s worth
Yea not a Raptor competitor but the ZR2 is one of the most capable off road vehicles out of the box. And the upcoming Hummer is going to be an absolute monster, although again not directly competing against the Raptor I would say
In the real world, it doesn't make sense to own one
The ZR2 looks good until you hook up a expedition trailer on it and bend the frame driving over a wet cigarette butt while off roading
That can be said for any vehicle if you exceed the tongue weight.
Great video guys!!! For me GMC. The Raptor is cool but too big to do the offroading I like. To mean it's a truck if you want to posture
Nathan, aux switches are really useful! I’m setting up my truck with pod lights on a headache rack so they will swing out, be better back up lights and help out on the farm.
Happy New Year!
I would like to see which heavy duty is good for a daily driver. Yall have done the best towing/braking as a work truck... but not for daily driver
Not sure when this was filmed, but I installed an Agri-Cover folding tonneau specifically for my Carbon bed. I believe BakFlip and the other companies are developing them. The carbon bed actually has pass thrus under the top trim in the bed for J-nuts so I'll expect more accessories to mount using J-nuts in the future. Wasn't a show stopper for me.
Use my raptor as an everyday truck and tow 3-6k in toys regularly and love it! It’s very comfortable and tows very good.
If I have to pick only one,.it would be the GMC AT4 all day, every day.
_Michael_ fak it I’ll make a new day
Great discussion guys on playing both sides of the fence. Both trucks are great in their own respective way. I would note that being a diesel owner myself, its good to point out maintenance prices are higher for diesel. In the long term everyday life diesel issues will push the price tag up vs gas.
I learned this the hard way . That's most people forget to say.
With only 1,000 lbs of payload the soft topper makes a ton of sense as passengers will take up a considerable amount of that 1,000lbs.
I’ll take the GMC with the 6.2 and add the pro charger for around 9k and to gain 200hp and still be under the raptor price tag
Andre forgot to mention how much cooler you are during your daily commute, going through the Starbuck's drive thru in a Raptor instead of that GMC. Great video fellas! Love our 2019 Raptor! Over 30K miles, commuting, towing, off roading, travelling....it really does a lot and very well.
Regardless of what you are driving, You can’t be cool going through a Starbucks, as a matter of fact you have only proven you are a hipster even going to a Starbucks. That being said the cool factor of either of these trucks will be dependent on age, maturity and sophistication.
@@stephenmitchum5864 🤣 No Starbucks for me, but that’s the running joke over on the Raptor groups for the folks that never take them off-roading and just frequent Starbucks and mall parking lots. 😉
You two are hilarious 🤣
I CANNOT WAIT FOR MY AT4 diesel to get here on Feb 20th 2021!!
great and funny video guys.. keep up the good work.
Happy New Year to all at TFL Trucks. Just wish you had also had the Ram Rebel Diesel, would make for a great review. How about in at least 1 foot of snow as well
@12:55 "I can easily fix that", how?. "piece of plywood just screw it in.... " Then realises what he said (time to change the subject) haha
Love it. That was hilarious. Sorry not sorry. And Happy New Years!
Somehow I missed this video but you two guys make reviews fun! Do more videos!
Nice love you guys
Happy new year’s 🥂🥂
Happy new year and wow 4K..buckle up buds!
Yeah Nathan and Andre back together again. Great review gentlemen.
Happy New year to everyone at tfl
I like the soft topper , overland style. Glad to see Nathan is back.
I use my F150 tailgate step as a comfy place to sit and poop when in the bush. Squatting is for cavemen.
AC slater it while your work is resting on the tailgate, productivity never stops.
Or sit the other way, relax and enjoy nature.
Just remember to put a shop towel down first so you don't get that cold shock on your toosh.
Like the Topper, Ultimately you have to buy what's going to suit your lifestyle. Keep up the good work fellas. Been following since the beginning.
"If you're a regular working joe who doesnt go offroading all the time the gmc is better. "
Well that should be changed to a regular working supervisor at minimum or business owner with that msrp lol
Edit: just to throw this in. I keep hearing you cant really appreciate what the raptor does if you dont offroad. So i would have to agree the gmc maybe the better choice as a daily driver. Im a ford guy but i think those gmc are the best looking trucks out now.
Nah, he was correct... The working man who gets talked into one at the dealership and becomes a slave to the bank man every month.
I don't remember hearing that in the video. But if you wanna "no you're wrong" me go ahead lol
All the fancy gadgets are nice, but be honest with yourself. Probably 90% of people won't use half those gadgets the way they are meant to be used.
Nope thats true. Im just answering their question with the choices we were given.
Happy new year TFL family
Awesome video thanks guys...
Love the arguments, great video
As part of a comparo between these trucks, I’d like to see both pull a horse trailer (about 7,500 lbs total) up/down the Ike Gauntlet, along with MPG. As configured, how do they deal with sway and downhill issues? And, what about total range? I’m looking for the best of all categories (if that’s possible).
I love Andrea and his input! Keep up the great work guys
Little tiny feet for little people that I don’t want in my truck anyway 😂🤣🤣😂 Nathan’s the best !!
I gotta think these new $70k plus trucks with all the tech options are great to lease and turn in before all the crazy expensive maintenance and repairs start.
"Are you kickin it" ---...
crickets. lol
The AT4 is a Swiss army knife. The raptor is a scalpel.
@Riley Bodnar The raptor is pretty much a purpose built truck. The AT4 is more of a daily truck doesn't doesn't do anything super great.... IMO
@Riley Bodnar Never said they was but I would get a lot more use out of that AT4 than that Raptor. Both are great trucks but to be honest neither suits my needs.
I would say the raptor can do everything the gmc could but it sacrificed some for the all out performance where the gmc is severely lacking
@Riley Bodnar the gm looks like a child's toy inside compared to the raptor in person. Plus the raptor isn't even loaded out and has hugely comfortable seats. I'd say the ride is better over small bumps on the gmc but the raptor handles bigger hits better.
@Riley Bodnar I think they are only talking about American trucks
Nathan’s input on things is on point 💯
Nathan cracks me up. Good review guys! I do disagree with Nathan though called the Ford the “party truck” while the GMC clearly is the party truck as it has speakers in the tailgate haha
Make sure you take the hitch out of the receiver when done towing with multi-pro equipped trucks. My neighbor learned the hard way when, he was showing functions the tailgate . Very expensive at the body shop. Happy New Year y'all !
Nathan struggling to make his point at 22:50 highlights the absurdity of trying to make an argument that a loaded, luxurious $65k truck with a carbon bed and speakers in the articulated tailgate is a better and more practical daily driver than the other $65k luxury truck because it’s narrower and gets better gas mileage. Both of these trucks are lifestyle enhancing toys and that’s 100% okay. We love them, not because of what they can do, but because of how they make us feel.
I'm not FORD man but that Raptor front is beautiful!
It kinda looks like a 2007 to 2013 gen Tundra.
@@user-fi1xu1pp7p I'm driving 2012 :)
The 2020 white AT4 diesel carbon pro you all had a few moths ago on the channel, had a bed cover on it from gmc .
They must be available for that carbon pro bed.
Hopefully I'll be getting the AT4 with the Diesel later this year. I do a lot of driving and need something economical but also able to tow a trailer and carry stuff. Looks like a nice daily driver!
I've had my at4 diesel for over a year do you have any questions please ask I'll answer for you
I have about 21k on it only a could of issues so far. 1 is the electro ice on the screen ever once in a few it takes a few seconds for everything to initiate once you crank it. Another us the radio. Often times it will take a minute or 2 just for it to initiate in order to listen to the radio. Probably due to it being digital. As far as everything else it's working great
@@andysmith5220 I’m bout to get one, is it truly
Better on mpg? And how do you like the drive ? Is it smooth?
@@andysmith5220 I want to tow a 6500 pound toy hauler on west coast also daily driver in winter storms. Plus a 7300 pound boat have you done anything close to that? How’s towing up hill 5.5 grade?
Dudes have you who's in the White House? Diesel prices will be going crazy high.
I love when these 2 guys review stuff
Happy New Year!
The GMC has 5 auxiliary switches available as a factory option or dealer-installed accessory
True. I'm getting it done this month.
Andre saying look at the soft top on the raptor and the best thing is.... ‘walks around and lets the tailgate down’.. covered storage! 🤣🤣 Nathan keep him in line
I'd rather own the GMC, but a Raptor is a fun toy.
If u have enough money to buy a new truck then the "mpg" sure as hell doesn't matter to you
Okay.
Haha I love the chemistry between y’all
Love my 2020 GMC AT4!!!
Granted I only have to 5.3 in my at4 but so far I love it. I gotta agree though the raptor is more like a play toy I’d love to have one to go on trials or what have you but I can do almost the same with my at4 so can’t beat it. My only regret is not getting the diesel since I’m averaging around 16mpg with 2k on the odometer.
My Raptor gives me 22MPG highway (though it drops by 4MPG over 70MPH), 17.7MPG combined. I off-road once or twice a month. It’s amazing in snow and can tow more than I need. That’s as practical as it gets for me.
Your video was helpful! I have a 2001 GMC 2500 HD long bed that I bought new 20 years ago. I love it and have maintained it well. It has over 316K miles on original engine and transmission with no major problems. I would keep driving it except for the fact that it is 2 wheel drive, heavy, and I have taken up hunting and am tired of getting my heavy 2 wheel truck stuck in mud. So I am going to get a new 4WD 1500 class truck with a standard (6'5"') bed (because I want to put a truck shell on the back and sleep in it) and a Crew or Double Cab, and I am strongly considering the Ford F150 and GMC 1500s 4WDs. Unfortunately the Raptor only comes in the short (5'7") bed (not a standard bed). Your videos gave me some good info to think about. I am interested in that fabric shell that you had on the Raptor. Who makes those?
The Sierra AT4 is GMC's most off-road worthy truck? I remember when Stephen went off-road racing with the Chevy/GMC crew last year? He was talking about the twins developing a half-ton off-road truck. I haven't heard a thing from anyone about this proposed truck. I believe that GM is good with the ZR2 Bison as their most off-road worthy truck.
Operative word being “GMC”
Wheat kills zr2 is difficulty of putting larger tires without cutting into body.
Is Roman watching this thinking "Ok kids, wait until big daddy (TRX) gets home."
This was one of my hardest decision when I bought a truck. Raptor or At4. Decided to go with the AT4 and no regrets so far beside the fact that GMC took off some features due to shortages on 2022.
I loved this video. I love how objective Andre is with his reviews, but I loved the bit of fanboy attitude from Nathan as well. Would make a hilarious video to put Nathan against a different fanboy truck owner.
can you compare AT4/Trailboss suspension with usual submodels? in therms of road handling, feelings and geometry (height)
Another parking lot special lol you guys are going downhill. Truck king is stepping it up.
Totally agree, wish they were able to offroad more and not beat us to death with specs over and over and over again
Love Nathan/Andre combination they make an awesome funny team
I've never even looked at GM for a truck before and I bought a Silverado Diesel two days ago. The Chevy is less expensive than the GMC, has fewer cameras, but the same G80 rear end and 4WD system Z71 / RST packages. What a great motor!
You guys are great!!!😁
To bad the Raptor is now in the insane price range. I’m gone with a 250 diesel tremor for the same price.
Good video. I personally know 3 people that drive Raptors to work everyday. One one of them is even a Shelby Raptor he also uses it for work. Don't know anybody that has any AT4s that do not yet lol
Just waiting to see an ike gauntlet towing test with 8,000 lbs that would be cool and a drag race while you're at it
Now the real question is if I will get the AT4 I ordered in October in the next by spring hopefully?!
For commuting on our local roads my 2018 Raptor gets 20MPG, on expressway at 65 to 75 I get about 17MPG regular fuel. That diesel wins on MPG, but diesel fuel here is about $2,30 per gallon and gasoline about $1.95 per gallon. So economy of fuel use is not so different. I have NO problem parallel parking, it rides great, it is quiet, and it won't rust.
It's still a ford with a daisy ecopuff powerplant that won't last ,unless you drive it like most woman that own ford's do..
Same three issues with the GMT's every year: Tire/wheel height is so much smaller than their competitors (to the point they just look undersized), they still have no manually controllable rear differential locker, and the Ranchero shocks are ridiculously outdated for a 'premium' shock. All three of these issues seem so easy for GM to fix, yet they never do... Congress and GM may be the same people.
Last I checked, Ford is the only company still repaying the government is money. Loan matures in June. The other 5 have already repaid their debt.
@@domin8ss By repaid, you mean, bankruptcy?? :D
@@AnyManProjects nope. I mean repaid. Not all debts are forgiven in bankruptcy. Please know what your talking about before posting up nonsense. The governments involvement in rescuing GM saved an estimated 1.2 million jobs and recaptured $34.9 billion in tax revenue. And, the government lost over $1 billion dollars in rescuing Chrysler, but nobody calls them something like "government motors". As of Dec 2013 (remember, bankruptcy occurred in 2009) the government has not been part of GM, and edmunds.com points out that those who still refer to GM as "government motors" weren't, and likely never will be, GM customers. Therefore, what these peons have to say is irrelevant because they choose to ignore facts.
@@domin8ss You had my interest until the assumptions about my character... not that I care really, but we could have had a good convo about this ;)
@@AnyManProjects a good convo starts with an open mind. Parroting a decade-old meritless term used to defame and degrade shows a closed mind, to which I'm not interested in wasting my time with. Perhaps next time you'll seek info from the start instead of starting with tarradiddle. This convo was over before it began. I merely posted to set the record straight, not converse. Call it a Point of Information.
You guys should’ve waited a few months until the F150 Tremor package was released to do this video. Comparing a Baja truck to a regular truck with a couple of suspension mods is ridiculous.
Well said
You keep seeing this comparisons and it makes me scratch my head. Dodge makes the closest thing to compare with the TRX. GM doesn’t make a Baja-inspired truck.
I actually like the soft topper. I am looking at possibly getting one. Just my to sense....
Have they improved the regen problems in this new diesel or does it have to go to the shop ✌️🇨🇦
Love the video Andre and Nathan, you two do videos great together, but I'm going to have to Agree with Andre. I have a 2019 Raptor as a commuter vehicle and love the ride. I use it for off roading, and tow my 28 foot trailer which is 5600 lbs, and there is no where I can't take it, and love the power but also the look of the raptor. Though that is a good looking truck It just looks like a grandpa truck. Love the raptor I even like the look of the Ram Rebel (which i bought for my wife) but this truck just doesn't scream at me like the raptor or rebel. And the trail boss has way too many problems especially after 50k.
I'm a ford guy through and through, and own a Coyote powered F150 King Ranch. With that said, I think that the Raptor loses this round. It is just too complicated and has too many things that will be VERY expensive to repair, down the road. That GMC tailgate is great, but if you ever have to replace it, you will have to take out another loan.
Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!😀
Great video but I used 5.3 sierra 2012 till 2021 no major issues at all . But v6 ecoboost engine and complicated systems in ford made me decide to get another sierra 6.2 for cost of long term utilization
Nice shades Nathan! What style and Brand? I choose AT4
Love the AT4! Andre...you should have reminded him that your Raptor has Ford Pass!
I have a 2020 Raptor coming from 2017 F150 Platinum and I don’t miss anything from my platinum, the size is pretty much the same if you measure the mirrors is the same wide since the cab is the same and the suspension in Daly drive is way better than any truck I ever own. I daily drive my raptor an I really love it and average 17 mpg mostly city is fairly good
What happens on the GMC if you drop the tailgate step with a hitch and ball attached?
Softopper may be the most utilitarian cover of any. I have one on Tundra and will always have one on all trucks. I can leave it up and have full weather protection for gear and such. I can roll up sides and back and go SAFARI style and have shade for my dog in her crate while still having plenty of airflow here in southeast. I have pulled over in truck stops or elsewhere and laid out full length on bedroll and slept in back on hunting trips.... A Decked system, a Softopper...and is golden. I have folded it down and had pallets of stone lifted in rear and set on DECKED to carry home. Cant beat it.
Can u use the tailgate step when u have a hitch in the reciever?
That composite bed looks like the one in my 15 year old Toyota did GM copy that or is it made out of a different material
Its hard to find caps or bed rails for the carbon box on the GMC.
I agree with a previous comment. Apples to oranges comparison. I recently priced a Raptor near me at $76K. Same crew cab with comparable options in a Chevy, Dodge, and Toyota was a difference of $10-20K. Give me the ability to add that much in improvements to all of those makes and I’ll gladly do a head-to-head. Some after market add-ons are engineered better than OEM parts. I’d close the gap in a hurry and the comparison would be more evenly matched. Until GM and other manufacturers make a true off road truck similar to what Dodge did with the TRX, this head to head tests will never make any sense. Love the channel by the way.
