hey truck king on that empty fuel economy loop I happen to notice you were in Orillia I didn't know you were around this neck of the woods. You'll have to pop by one day and check out my 17 power wagon Laramie some time
@@Em_jiggy I agree. But I wish they would offer the diesel on the Trail Boss. It's my hard earned money i using to purchase there products. Why not let the customer decide what version is best for them.
You really nailed this review! Very enjoyable to watch and you covered everything im interested in. Specs, price, cool features, driving feel and impressions under load, EPA economy loaded and unloaded and of course offroading it through the hydro line! Love the channel bud!
Also a Suggestion with these half tons is to start using the travel trailer as a test bench. Most people buying half tons are towing high profile trailers like travel trailers, and that would give them a more realistic expectation of fuel economy towing with wind resistance. Flatbeds are easy to load for weight, but they really don't have any resistance other than rolling. You could also get a better idea for how the trucks handle sway, as TTs are notoriously easy to get swaying, as well as to improperly load.
Honestly, one of the best reviews I’ve seen on a truck. This is the type of stuff real truck drivers like to see and know about. Keep it up!! 💯💯 really love this AT4, have had mine for about 2 weeks and love every single thing about it.
My new favourite channel for truck reviews :). You guys do sooo much more than just show the engine and bed and interior . Keep up the amazing work !!!
Loved my Tacoma composite bed. Put in a rubber mat and had amazing grip. Great to see your dad in the videos. It will make great memories. You guys have the same voice.
I bought a 2020 At4 with the 6.2 in it. Msrp was 68k, has everything but the carbon pro bed. Chose it over a Denali because of the capability and less chrome. The only real difference is the off-road package and the At4 has carbon fiber inserts in the door handholds. Great truck, would highly recommend. Towed a 4200lb car when I moved with it on a car trailer and averaged 14.1mpg on varying grades over 320 miles.
Probably should mention that MSRP was 68K, I took the 6K off instead of the 72 months zero APR because I"m planning on paying it off early and I had a supplier discount that brought it down to 56K. I think every review I've seen of this truck misses the driving modes. Obviously the trailering mode, its great you can customize what your towing and save the presets. There's also three selectable modes, Normal, Sport and Off-road. There's very noticeable differences between the three.
I would like to see reviews towing a 7000lb camper. How much of a factor wind resistance and sway affect the towing experience vs a flat trailer with the same weight.
TTs are a great towing test, and we're going to do some more coming up. The flat decks and concrete are here to stay, but we'll try and mix it up a bit.
I have a 2019 AT4. I tow a 28 foot 6,800lbs Jayco. That's without all my gear. With gear I estimate about another 500 lbs. The Truck does really well 60 mph and slower. Above that I get some sway. I do have a tow hitch that helps with weight and sway.
Great review of the Sierra AT4. The Sierra is an awesome looking Truck and that carbon fiber bed is really nice. Thanks to you and your Dad for the review.
Although I'm Canadian I'd be inclined to do everything in US units, add metric in afterwards. Ultimately the US is where the bulk of your views will eventually come from.
just bought the same truck a few weeks ago, I'm still learning all of the features and Easter eggs... great video and I can honestly say this is the best vehicle I have ever owned.. and I have owned over 100 vehicles.. including the monster dually in my profile picture. You really get the best of all worlds, great gas mileage, superior comfort and tech, great off road capabilities from the factory, while not compromising the ride.GMC nailed this one!!
My 17 sierra is rated for 1890lbs payload.... I've had a cubic yard of 2" round river rock. And 3 adults. (3000lb of rock and 600 of people. Still wasn't down to the bump stops. Payload is wwwaaaayyyy underrated on these trucks. (P-rated tires are the Achilles heal on most)
Always like how indepth you went into the reviews even when you were with TFL. Somewhat better knowledge of the vehicles! Still like TFL, but have to give it to Truck King
I have a feeling that those beds aren't going to look too good in the future when the truck is 10+ years old. I know not many people care about that, but I'm a guy who likes to hold on to his vehicles for a while. I've had my 16 year old dodge ram for 10 years.
At 3:42 you say that you don't lose any functionality with the Carbon Pro bed but I disagree. With the sloped transition from the bed sides to the bottom of the bed rails, you cannot mount a camper shell because there is no where to put the clamps. You can get creative and use one of the tie down hooks to secure the shell to the bed but then you would be losing "functionality" of a bed anchor point. Aside from this one oversight, good review. I have a 2020 Chevy 3.0 4x4 and love it.
Something I have realized on ram truck is when you tow a heavy trailer it sort of makes the whole truck sit lower even in the front although it’s is still lower in the back because of the weight
I just subscribed; are you still doing work with the TFL guys? I always loved the off reading you did in Canada. It actually looks a lot closer to the muddy off roading you tend to find here in the southeastern US than anything I’ve seen them run out west.
@@craigquann they updated the pricing but the 2.7 turbo is still cheaper than the 4.3 v6 by a few hundred dollars, it produces more power and torque, will be able to officially tow 9k in 2021 models and is available in all lower end trims of the silverado and sierra with the exception of the custom trailboss. This includes the base trims as the marketed absolute starting price for both silverado and sierra are a rwd 2.7t truck
This is the only GM product that would steer me away from my BMW X5 diesel. The in-line engines are great. 9.5 l/100 are what immer getting in city 7/100 highway. This is great for a full size truck.
Nice truck, I have the 2020 3500 HD AT4 version...All in all, despite capacity/power differences they're comparable... Having my truck since 5/11/2020, IF I could could have just one "techie" item, it'd be that rear view mirror camera, that is my favorite... Just placed my order for my 2021 Sierra at4 but I just got the preferred package and technology package. The carbon bed just seems to expensive for what it is. Plus I got mine at $68k with discounts due to truck month! Can't wait to get it and thanks for the great review!
Slippery is good to sly in sheets of drywall because drywall could break easley if you try to sly it on a bed that has spread in bedliner. In your older video with TFL you first said your not a big fan of the multi tailgate.
Every gm truck since at least the 90s. The real pain in the ass is if you want to use POR or most other non oil coatings, you have to strip all that wax off the frame. Talk about a huge effing PITA
Evan Barnett No you don’t, on Fluid Film or Krown you can just spray over that stuff and it’ll soften the rubberized undercoating and seep thru the bare metal. Also it’ll weaken the coating and eventually come off itself. Happened in my vehicles and you can look it up also.
Carbon fill PA6. It's Nylon with carbon fiber impregnated. Very durable stuff though. As strong as Aluminum, but much lighter, so you can lay it on thick. Even though plastic is usually cheap, this is about as expensive as stamped steel, due to the fiber fill tearing up the molds much faster.
I’m seriously considering getting one of these and would buy the Duramax over the 6.2 in a heartbeat if it didn’t have all the complicated and expensive emissions equipment attached to it.
Just stumbled across your awesome channel. Awesome review! Sounds like the new diesel and AT4 are a winning combo and incentives are $8-$10k off until early January. A 2500HD Duramax is overkill for my needs so this might be the answer.
Love the tailgate. Wish they had put one like it on the Zr2. But hey can't always get what you want. I'll take the front locker over the tailgate any day.

Better than the 5.3or 6.2 with the push rod issues and lifter issues the last thing you want on your new 65.000 +truck is problems or getting stuck, broke down !
The camper you see in the video doesn't belong to us. We let a family friend store it there, and I wouldn't risk any damage using it. We've got some more travel trailer towing videos coming though, so stay tuned.
Would you be able to test the off-road chops of the gm single speed transfer case with the 2.7l turbo engine in GMC or chevy? Would love to see the limitations! Keep up the great content. Stay safe.

Why is there a 2 second difference between the 2 diesels? 0 - 50 is 3.6 in the one and 5.3 in the other, yet both have identical 0 - 100. Something seems off there.
Great video. At 19:10 the truck wheels look like they are going in reverse. The trailer wheels look like they are going forward..... Isn't science fun?
You actually do loose functionality with carbon pro bed It does not have the pop op ports on the side of the bed That would allow to you run wiring neatly through the bed
Definitely an awesome truck. But I’m worried the CarbonPro can limit what you can attach. I’ve seen some tonneau covers that are compatible but haven’t seen any caps or racks get fitted.
The Tow numbers are factored in with a safety margin cause the rating will degrade as the vehicle ages, they know people will tempt fate and exceed them or modify vehicles in a way that could comprimise them somtimes. Its a standard Engineering practice in all manufacting Engineering.

That would allow to you run wiring neatly through the bed
No concrete blocks where hurt but that spider looked pretty freaked out
That spider said, "what the hell".
Definitely an awesome truck.
But I’m worried the CarbonPro can limit what you can attach. I’ve seen some tonneau covers that are compatible but haven’t seen any caps or racks get fitted.
It looks like clamps would work but hard to tell from these vids.
Amazing looking trucks! If only they made them reliable 😏
The Tow numbers are factored in with a safety margin cause the rating will degrade as the vehicle ages, they know people will tempt fate and exceed them or modify vehicles in a way that could comprimise them somtimes. Its a standard Engineering practice in all manufacting Engineering.
i want one. my heart is pumping hard just watching that truck.
love your reviews, great both you and your dad. thanks for doind this.
I have a more personal question, being a big guy myself, I was wondering how tall/weight are you? there aren't much large people doing truck reviews
Thanks
I'm 6'2" and north of 250.
Now that you’ve taken it off road, how are you enjoying the squeaky leaf springs?? 🥴🥴
That cost more than my fully loaded ‘17 3500HD LTZ Midnight Edition Crew Cab.
Lol, I was thinking the same thing. Buy a 6.6l for same or less.
I wish gm would put some better gears in the off road trucks, like something closer to the towing packages
