    • @michaelking1869
      @michaelking1869 4 года назад +11

      They should be offering it with a Torsen style limited slip in the front. Combined with the current traction control system it would make that truck miles better in off road and snowy situations.

    • @cc23001
      @cc23001 4 года назад +2

      Until they change the design of their front diffs a locker is a death sentence off-road. It's been an aluminum case bolded together since they went to IFS in the late 80s. The pinion gear acts like a wedge and splits the diff. Can't even get a aftermarket locker for the 8.25" in the half tons and only like 1 is available for the 9.25" in the HD trucks. Lol sad sad

    • @mikec3454
      @mikec3454 5 лет назад +10

      Exactly! I’ve been saying this ever since the TB and AT4 was released... they are half-assed attempts at an “off road package”. They are merely appearance packages as far as I’m concerned. They aren’t that much more capable than any other Silverado and Sierra with a good set of tires.

    • @mikec5820

      They need to totally go through that ifs system. It hasn't really changed since they designed it in the 80s. The diff is terrible and can't survive with a locker in it. I'm not gonna even get started with the BS links. It's sad too because they could have really competent off-road machines but don't think it's worth their effort

They have Silverados running around but mostly LT, RST, Custom, TrailBoss & below not many High country, LTZs. Unlike the Gladiator which i have only seen 1 literally to date on the road & 1 other at a shop. 19 newgen Rams are kinda semi-rare see one here & there but quite a few 19 classics which is what i like as well.

      In that case def look into Bilstein 5100 series. They’re the go to reliable performing shock. They’ll be softer around town but still have plenty of performance on washboard and dirt roads. Fox 2.0 would be the equivalent but at a higher price and they’ll ride a bit too firm around town...no need since your HD Silverado already rides a tad firmer than LT trucks. Oh... and they won’t rust, they might show some oxidation, all cosmetic, but nothing that will make the shock fail overtime.

I also like that GM hasn't went to the huge screen display on the dash. The Dodge has that and it just looks stupid to me. If I'm not going to watch movies on it I only want the screen big enough to do the job and not look like an I-Pad got stuck to the center stack.

    This truck is intriguing, but is ridiculously overpriced, by at least $10K+. I also am waiting for some automotive "journalist" to corner one of the engineers and ask them what they suggest a diesel 4WD driver should do when he/she gets a "DPF full, Drive To Clean" message when the vehicle is 10 miles back on some rock-crawling trail where the engine can't be run in a manner to allow a DPF regen. This is not a hypothetical situation--I've seen diesel pickups in exactly that difficult position. Ford at least offers and optional software program on their 6.7 Super Duty XL and XLT pickups that will allow a driver to initiate a stationary re-gen if the driver gets a "Full DPF" warning and can't, for whatever reason, drive the truck down the highway for 20 minutes to re-gen the DPF. By the way, slow speed-up/slow down rock-crawling is one of the driving regimens that will produce the most diesel particulates and fill the DPF most quickly. Why don't you TFL guys EVER report on this? I've been around diesels for about a half-century now. Why don't you hire me?--I'll ask those questions without hesitation.

      rockymountainjazzfan the DPF is simply a filter. Sensors measure the amount of back pressure and determine when a regen is needed. It will attempt to do a regen until it’s able to do so and regardless of what the manual says it will do a regen it stop and go conditions - it just takes longer. There’s no need to force it to do a regen unless you just don’t like looking at the alert on the dashboard. Source: owner of a modern Chevy diesel. Don’t make a mountain out of a mole hill for arguments sake - you want drive like you described then get a Jeep.

      @@artiaga1547I came from a gm family. I don't think we ever owned a Ford. My first one. I owned 3 GMC pickups prior to buying my Ford. I used to be a GMC guy but a man's wallet can only take so much of a beating before you try something else. This Ford hasn't been perfect but compared to the GM stuff I had, it's had a small fraction of the issues. Had it almost 7 years and it's not going anywhere anytime soon.
      Almost went back when the 16 Chevys came out because they were sexy... But damn the interiors suuuuuucked compared to my Ford. It felt like going to a midsize from my F150 and soooooo cheap feeling. Too bad, that was the best looking truck they've made in a decade plus. GM used to set the bar for design IMO but they've fallen off a cliff this century in that department.

    The problem with Diesel engines is people want to immediately "Delete and Tune it" I understand why, I do. However I like cleaner air better. Ever get behind a diesel blowing all that black smoke on a nice day and you can't get around it? Yeah that's why they put all the emissions on it, those particulates are a known cause for Cancer. Might as well leave the emissions on it anyway. States are going (from what I am reading) to start enforcing these emissions as diesels become more popular. Dealerships are already getting to where they don't want to touch a deleted and tuned truck for fear of not being able to move the product. Looks like a great truck, good job Roman.

      87gunsnroses Rancho isn’t the problem. GM gives Rancho the specs and design for the shocks that Rancho must follow to the T. GM is far too conservative in bringing on performance products which is why the ZR2 is so unique with its proprietary shocks.
