      Honestly road presence actually makes a difference, and these measurement comparisons are significant. But standing back and just looking, the RAM is the overall more appealing/handsome/manly looking Truck.

    This is the best test I’ve seen from you guys. Besides driving them I absolutely loved the measurements from the diff to the doors to the front chin to the tires. Which magazine or site does this ? No one! Thank you guys for doing real world tests and measurements. From Andre to Roman to Nathan to the rest of the guys , thank you guys very much.

    All the measurements and specs are interesting; however, it all boils down to your gut feeling about a truck. Not to be too biased, but I recently bought a '19 Power Wagon. I love it thus far, but GMCs, Fords, Tundras, etc. are cool as well. I went with the Power Wagon because it fits my personality/interests more and aesthetically it's awesome. Keep up the reviews! 👍

      I don't know anyone with a Ram that has reliability issues. I do know other people driving Ford and Chevy pickups that have had problems. Generally, new vehicles are amazingly reliable. First model year is usually the sticking point to that.

      @@fifthcircle1 I know people who have had issue with all of them, however, it't only the people who have owned Ram/FCA vehicles that had them lemon lawed. On guy lemon lawed his 1500. Another guy lemon lawed his Hemi Grand Cherokee once, and tried with the second one they gave him after having countless issues. Ended up trading it for a hit.

      @@chadsteele1 Those stereotypes exist about all vehicles. I owned a Ford before this and had nothing but problems, but I still feel Ford is a solid brand. The PW just fits me better. It's pointless to put down another brand, because some people like one brand, and others like another. We just need to respect those choices. Peace, my friend. 🙂

    Why doesn't anyone make an easily detachable chin spoler? Leave it on most of the time for a bit of fuel economy, and snap it off for off-road?

      andrews I know! My chin spoiler is held on by zip ties and my bumper is all bent to shit. I’ve had to winch it out of the bottom of the headlights a couple times already.

      Exactly. The Duratrac is a tougher tire and an actual off-road tread. The other one GM used is just a street tire for a truck.
      If you want the same ground clearance, get a taller Duratrac.

    HaHa, the price of these vehicles is just staggering and untouchable to most of the driving public, not saying that they are not nice, they are, just not affordable for the avg American. I mean I make a good living but I am not investing my $$$ into these way overpriced vehicles. I got a Jeep paid for, I go off road with it and get my off road on and I am done. When I got hauling and towing to do I jump in the ole 99 Chevy and tow and haul most anything in my lifestyle. Good job tho Andre, I enjoy your videos the most.

      Paul J your thinking of a different 10 speed transmission the one that’s in the 1/2 ton raptor and Silverado/Sierra is a joint venture with General Motors and Ford. The one put in the 3/4 ton and 1 ton is Allison designed components and assembled in Toledo by General motors.

      Mike Leggiero the last time a Allison assembled transmission was put in a GM truck was the Lb7. After that General Motors assembled them all in Baltimore.

      @@pechmichaelchristina2640 If I was purchasing a HD truck that was a bit of a jack of all trades off road and towing my priority would be the towing aspect. The vast majority of the people purchasing these truck will tow more than serious off roading which may require the locker disconnect. I am almost certain these 2 trucks will be very similar off road giving the edge to the Ram. But towing it wouldnt be a edge but a GMC it would be a land slide difference. Not to mention MPG. But 2 each his own. :) isn't america GREAT!

    I would choose the ram for its solid axles and old school 4x4 shifter, even the lockers, I just hate the knob gear selector, it really should be a column shift lever. It bugs me that much.

    You can’t compare those 2 man . Power wagon is an off-road truck and lighter than the gmc with key off-road features the gmc is a heavy duty truck that can go little bit off road

    The GMC is an “off road” truck, the Ram IS an off road truck. AT4 should be compared to a Ram 2500 diesel with the off road package.

      Add the same tire/wheel size from the at4 to the powerwagon probably make but the rear diff height difference. At4 near 9.5 and wagon at 8 1/4. That extra inch makes 9 1/4 maybe load rating of tires would have it sitting 9.5 to 9.5 maybe

Because every manufacturer chooses track width, wheel size/backspace/offset, and tire size with consideration for tire clearances. No stock truck, no matter the articulation, is going to rub.

      Greg Kittle Mexico's factory complex is larger than the one in Warren, Michigan. It has more capacity and flexibility, here we make Ram 1500 Classic, and the entire Heavy Duty Ram line from 2500 to 5500, and it is rumored to be the next truck midsize of Ram will be built here in Mexico. I can tell you that there is no intention of taking more production to Michigan, that has already happened, they only obtained the new generation Ram 1500. Do not believe the lies of your president here we work with more quality and it is more profitable for FCA.

    Love that new GM tailgate, but I'll keep my Power Wagon. Too many features ideally suited to off-road. I had a GM back when they first brouhgt out the "Sportside" and loved it for years. I think either vehicle would make an owner happy.

      @@WilliamStewart1 I have Toyo open country MT 35"s and am getting about 12 mpg and you're right pretty much Irrelevant whats not mentioned here is I can stick 37 underneath mine and still get full lock on the steering there is no way that's true for the GMC

    Thank you Andre for actually measuring the ground clearance that matters! The minimum ground clearance. The ram is advertised as having 13 inches of ground clearance (obviously measured from highest point). Meanwhile the minimum from the rear diff is a paltry 8 inches. What a joke!

    I would love to see ram bring a 7.0ltr “426” hemi to the heavy duty line up. It could bring a lot more power to the power wagon without the weight of a diesel

      They could put the Helliphant in it that's a modern 426 Hemi that's super charged & makes 1000 HP & over 900ftlbs of torque on pump gas . The engine uses the superstock block heads crank rods & pistons so it can take a healthy beating plus it comes with the computer opened up so you can custom tune the engine your self with a laptop & not having to send the ECM in to either have it flashed or a custom tune put into it !

    Ground clearance at the differential is usually due to the tire size. Put the larger tires on the PW and clearance would be the same

    As for effective tire height, measure from the ground to the hub centre. That's the rolling radius times two = what the truck sees.

      Lots of people buy these trucks, they're a tax write off if you did life right. Drive it for 2 years and then trade it in for a new model. Work for yourself, it has benefits.

    More power wagons might be sold if there was a diesel option but personally, I don't mind using a gasoline engine. It still gets the job done.

    When it comes to off roading the tried and true solid axle wins. Ps those are Dana 60s. I am a hummer owner to this day and I will go with a power wagon.

    I do like that the Ram HD crew cabs are 149" wheel base. Thats not huge. To put that into perspective, my 2014 F150 Supercrew with a 6.5' bed is a 157" WB. And now that GM and Ram have gone to bigger cabs in their 1500's, even those are bigger.

    I have a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon for serious off roading. A heavy duty truck is more for towing than anything else, so the GMC is the one that fills that need hands down.

    You can get a Power Wagon new right now with all the needed off road goodies but none of the fluff for $47,225. That is the best deal on a dedicated off roader anywhere. You can get a minivan motored Rubicon Gladiator or Wrangler for a few thousand less, but step up to the Ecodiesel and it's $2000 more. The ZR2 Diesel Colorado is $500 more but smaller and no winch. The AT4 even without the diesel and still lacking front lockers and a winch with the most basic possible options except the off road performance package is $9000 more.

    My vote goes to the one that has the mechanical transfer case lever. Power Wagon.
    Loved that skid plate view and comparison. That should be a part of all of your off road reviews.

    If we're talking some real off-roading, it's the Power Wagon all day for me. Having front and rear lockers on the Power Wagon just makes a massive difference. I'm not a fan of that G80 auto locker that GM just won't go away from. The Power Wagon also gets you solid axles, disconnecting sway bar, and that factory Warn winch. I hope you put them up against each other on a hairy off-road trail.

    Ram HD and Ford Superduty will always beat GM HD trucks off-road due to the straight front axle. Ford owns half ton off-road action with the Raptor.

      The Raptor is a class above these two trucks. Although they are both nice trucks, if I wanted a straight off-road truck It would be straight to a Raptor.
      And I own a 2019 Ram 1500.

    Next week we compare the power Wagon to a D9 cat which can out-Tow the Ram by 48 tons, but the D9 has no radio, tires or steering wheel, but 1200 more HP, so we subtracted 4 points from the Ram, let's see if the Ram can compare...why compare disel with non diesel???? Am I missing something here?

    REALLY wish you guys would also point out that you can get the AT4 in a 3500 SRW and quote it's payload and towing capacity.
    Also I still don't understand why they classify the Power Wagon as an HD truck, most if not all 1500's have better payload and towing capabilities.

      Motortrend tested them and said they could comfortably do double what the power wagon was rated 4. It also destroyed the gas gm hd's in towing and payload despite being rated for less.

    Hi Andre I just want to know which truck of the big 3 would you buy if you had the $ for any of them base on planning on keeping vehicle for ever so is because it's reliable in motor, transmission. Safety, quality components interior/ exterior meaning you not going to be replacing parts that break easily or worn out prematurely. It's a one time huge investment. Mostly for towing a fithwheel traveling with family????

    Hey Guys awesome channels I love all of them! You guys are one of my all time favorite to watch. Keep em coming. I'm undecided in the 1/2 ton pickup and looking to buy in a month or so. In order I was thinking F150 FX4 (3.5 or 5.0-not liking the oil consumption issues plaguing it) RAM Rebel 5.7 (FCA product worries me) and last Chevy/GMC Trail Boss/AT4 6.2L Honestly what do you think is the most dependable one (besides Tundra) of the bunch? I'm in the Chicagoland are, retired Homeland Security. Thanks in advance.

      Road racer Tanner Foust just did a 4x4 off road challenge with the ram rebel against a Toyota fj & a Range Rover & the rebel kicked both of these off road trucks asses in not only power but handling the rough stuff in sand rocks boulders & deep water crossings so maybe look it up on here !

    Why would you " disconnect the front sway bar" on the Dodge? Or are you doing that on both?

      Only the Dodge has that option & the reason why is if you off road it disconnecting the sway bar in the front allows better articulation of the suspension which in some instances will keep the tire on ground or surface which allows better traction !

    I care more about visibility down the hood to obstacles and parking than the big grill points.. so o jectively prefer the ram hood headlight setups to GMC, even if I like the looks of GMC front grill.

    I have never had good luck with Rancho shocks, they have always leaked and caused cupping for me. Not sure why GM uses them as their selling point on an "off road" suspension.

      Awful shocks. Bilsteins are more expensive, but are definitely superior. Likely outdone only by the latest FOX designs.

    It's WAAAYYY more than a winch that makes the Power Wagon much better off road, and cameras don't have much to do with it either. Door length has little to do with interior space. Measure seat back n dash thickness as well as seat travel too.

    I’ve got the AT4 which is NOT as good off-road as my buddy’s power wagon so a bit disappointed cause this isn’t an apples to apples comparison! The AT4’s come with optional 6.6 gasoline motors which is what YOU should’ve compared the Ram 6.4 Hemi to. Rather than comparing the LOADED OUT AT4 diesel to a not fully loaded out gasoline powered Power Wagon. Also, the longer wheel base is horrible for any off-roading which really is a marketing ploy on GM’s part. If you really want to know which is the best HD Off-road capable truck look no further than the over lander club, Ram Power Wagons are without a doubt The Top Choice.

    When comparing a payload and towing capacity. You can’t test a diesel versus a gas engine. Of course the diesel is gonna pull more.

    It looks like there was quite a bit of wear on the Dodge probably accounting for lower tie right. I will use the configurator to see what the GMC comes out to with a gas engine.

    For offroad power wagon for sure....softer suspension and more offroad features....lighter weight, shorter wheelbase.....easy choice......
    For towing it's GMC...powerwagon is basically a 1500 in terms of towing

    Ram and GM both use the same AAM 11.6 rear end...right? Still?
    So different diff clearance should be subjective to tire diameter not suspension. So the AT4 must use a taller tire
