    This is the best format you have ever used for a review. You finally get to voice some criticisms of a vehicle which you rarely do in other reviews without candy coating them. Where I live is almost sea level and there are no substantial hills around. So you towing tests and acceleration tests are almost irrelevant since your normal tests penalize the NA engines too much. With this comparative format you covered everything in a relative way which is much more informative even though its in a lighthearted manner. This is the only reason why I'll stay subscribed. More buddy reviews please.

      For whatever reason, every vehicle except a few trucks have ditched Column Gear Selectors, which are the easiest to use by feel, are out of the way, and don't take up room in the center console. Rams rotary selector isn't as good to use, in my opinion, but at least it's out of the way, unlike the console levers on most upscale F-150's.

    I have absolutely no problem with the interior of the GMC. Nice to see they still have a column shiftier, I think it's still the best option for a pick up truck. I don't mind Fords console shifter, but hate the RAM knob or the push buttons on the new Yukon/Hoe. I also like the size of the GMs screen. I personally am not interested in having the huge tablet screen that Ram has. I appreciate it's an option for those who like it though.

Put 621 miles and filled up once the light came on and put 17.81 gal in it. Do the calculations and that is 34 mpg. the big test is when you pull a boat. Car & Driver tested at a 6800lb trailer getting 17mpg. Take an average boat at 3000lb. you should get 20mpg. I will get mine late next month and are very close to you guys.

    So I finally test drove a 2021 Limited ecodiesel after binging on so many RUclipss. The good news, the fit and finish both inside and out as well as the quiet comfortable ride... nailed it. The motor, let's say I was underwhelmed. Just not enough low-end torque off the mark; it felt sluggish and underpowered out of the gate. I hopped in a Rebel 5.7 hemi and loved the responsiveness of that engine AND the interior was as comfortable and quite a ride as the limited despite the off-road tires. My inner nerd came out as I used a decibel meter app to measure interior noise at hi-way speed... both vehicles measured the same at 65-66 dB; you could hear a subtle whir from the OR tires, but it did not ping the dB meter. Very quiet, comfy ride!!

    I liked the review. It was nice that this wasn't filtered. The tailgate scene was too much! I laughed even harder when the big "Giraffe" missed the foothold in the bumper, of the GMC. Then, while I was laughing, I thought, "What am I laughing about, if I did that, I would have fell on the ground." LOL. To me, the Ram tailgate is a joke. It even shuts flimsy. The GMC step tailgate, is the ticket. I am older, now, and my knees really talk to me. Now that I think about it, watching those three reminded me of watching an old clip of the "3 Stooges!" It would have been funnier if all three were to give the sound effects of the "Stooges." Or, imagine if those three had a few beers in them. LOL! "No, the button goes this way!" Get out of there, let me!" "You shut the wrong side of the tailgate, first!" I do see where that big screen on the Ram, is almost too big. Looking at the screen, while driving, is worse than driving while looking at your cell phone. Think about it? The one thing we can all agree on, the prices on both trucks, is way too much money!

    AT4 is probably the best half ton truck i've even used.. its very well equipped and has lots of neat little tech things many others dont. i have all safety pkg and tech pkg in mine.. has more cameras than the Ram and i have a camera for my trailer and TPMS for my trailer also!! first GMC in over 10 years for me and i'm very happy with it. i nearly bought the raptor actually but glad i went with the AT4 std box.

    After watching many videos, both by TFL and others, I feel the need to point a couple of things out. 1: you wouldn't like the "huge" sunroof if you knew all of the issues they are having with them, the gmc "small" sunroof is tried and true. 2: I've drove all the 1/2 tons offroad, and the e lockers in both the ford and ram are speed limited, they will unlock at a relatively low speed, making them useless in mud and dirt when wheelspin is excessive. People say the g80 doesn't work above 20 mph, I've never had them not lock regardless of speed. And 3: the barn door tailgate being split vertically, really concerns me if you were to any significant amount of weight on it, I see the latches as a weak point for it. Just my .02.

    • @karlschauff7989
      @karlschauff7989 4 года назад

      The G80 unlocks at about 25 MPH which is a good thing because it's dangerous to fly down the highway with a locked diff when traction isn't good. Doesn't take much for the back end to swing out without warning.

    Chevy pioneered bedside storage boxes many years ago on the Chevy Avalanche. Chevy/GMC don't over exaggerate their tow ratings for their 3.0L diesels like Ram/Ford. Imagine how SLOW they would be with 12000 Lbs. hooked up. Anyone needing to tow that should be up-sizing their truck. Only thing missing was technology available on these higher trim trucks which would be important to those willing to pay for these trucks. Great review video, fun to watch.

    What a great and fun video to enjoy over breakfast. I will admit, that I have been looking for that color rebel, without airbags and without the pano roof. In the end, I believe the rebel will cost less money to own and operate than the G. M. Factor in the transmission and drive train maintenance and durability. I just cannot get on board with a rear mounted timing set up, nor the oil pump design on the i6.

Your reviews always seem to be very laid back and fun as to why I've been watching since juke vs xterra snow drive test up lick skillet road. These are fun tests and enjoy the live shows either walk around or behind the desk shows. But for price you could get an LTZ HD, or Ram HD limited as well with rebates tossed in. That's alarming these prices are sky rocketing as much as they are. 10 year financing coming soon .

      Dampened multi function tailgates and sensors/cameras have their rightful place in a truck. They just need to be durable *and* reliable without compromise! Same with bed liners. These are the basic attributes of a truck yet they're not standard issue but are gated behind overpriced packages and made with unreliable, cheap quality hardware and component. These tech aren't new, it's up to the buyers to push higher standard and fair pricing on the compagnies but it's not gonna happen since people change trucks like they change smartphones.

    • @taylor5542

    I got a dark quartz metallic AT4 Dec 2019. I had a 2014 Ram eco diesel and after 13k it had a chronic issue. You get a service electronic throttle position switch message and the truck would go into limp mode. The ram spent over 6 months time for 4 service visits and Ram couldn't fix it and they wouldn't replace it. With the GMC I have 26k miles on it and it gave me a scare but GM fixed it. About 12k a glow plug went bad. I have and have had several 2500 RAMS with the Cummins 5.9 and 6.7 and prefer i6 configuration so happy to wear out this GM 3.0. So far so good.

    I like the Carbon bed on the GMC and the bedside storage on the Ram. The tailgates on both trucks are just a gimmick and I could pass on the sunroof on both trucks. I like that the Ram has a larger fuel tank too. I feel like you guys dropped the ball on both of these by not at least telling us what the towing capacity was for both. One of the reasons you opt for a diesel is for more towing.

    I prefer the Ram tailgate but I use my truck for work and getting a forklift in closer for loading and unloading is a huge benefit; as is being able to getting into your truck bed when towing a trailer and not worrying about damaging the tailgate on trailer coupler.

    • @hochhaul
      @hochhaul 4 года назад

      They make a hitch that clears the tailgate on the GMC. Plus the bumper steps make it easy to get into and out of the bed without dropping the tailgate. Ram doesn't have an option like that, aside from those junk aftermarket steps that rust up and stop working after one winter.

    NATHAN! My man. I agree with you 95% . I've had both an Elocker on my F150 FX4 and a G80 on my Trail boss. I found the Elocker next to useless in most offroad situations. I live in BC there isn't much slick rock to crawl on. But lots of tight trails where a fully locked axle sucks! The G80 being Automatic is always there. Now I'd rather a Torsen system LSD, but the G80 will do.

      Diesel leads gas in every facet of technology, that's partly why they are more expensive. Its not the 40's anymore where they are the cheap dumb alternative. They are the pricey performance alternative when performance is real world economy on working duty cycles. They are certainly more expensive to maintain, but not by some astronomical margin, its not 2010 anymore either and the emissions systems are relatively reliable now.

    • @StoneysWorkshop
      @StoneysWorkshop 4 года назад

      Matthew Garn I am speaking specifically in regards to half ton segment.
      VW has great mpg in their cars and the heavy duty has the towing capability to justify the massive diesel.
      The half tons can’t seem to decide what they want to accomplish with the diesel. Therefore you get something that can’t merge into traffic unloaded.

    • @StoneysWorkshop
      @StoneysWorkshop 4 года назад

      David Pritchard I am not sure about your gasket market, but here in Louisiana gas averages maybe 2.10/gal. I drive about 10,000 miles (roughly your 16,000km) every two months.
      At 15mpg (my f150 with all my tools and parts loaded on hwy with 5.0) that’s 666 gallons at 2.10/gal is $1,400.
      Lets say the diesel will get 25 mpg loaded with about 1,000lbs like I am. That is 400gal, and diesel on the cheap side is maybe 2.80/gal so that is $1,120.
      If you are saving $600 per month more power to you, sounds great.
      Here in the southern USA it does not add up

      I've got the 6.2 AT4 as well, but if I wanted a diesel, I wouldn't waste my time with turbo'd 3.0 v6 when there's a 6.6 v8 turbodiesel on the market. The 3.0 is bound to have longevity issues, whereas the 6.6 will more than likely last as long as you want it to.
