I rented a 2025:Ram Rebel from Enterprise recently for a 1,000 mile road trip. I absolutely loved it! I was super impressed by the Twin Turbo Hurricane In-Line 6. I was thinking it was going to be a disappointment compared to the legendary Hemi. Instead, I found it to be remarkably smooth with great linear acceleration and - due to the dual turbos - zero turbo lag. I did not time it but I think 0-60 was in the low 5's. Very smooth,.quiet, comfortable ride. However, with all the Tech and the new Hurricane engine, I would recommend Extended Warranty if purchasing (vs Lease). Otherwise two thumbs up 👍

I would avoid the transfer case with the "auto-4wd" feature (borg-warner 44-44). I have one and it's a computer controlled clutch pack instead of a gears and a chain. I lost a wheel speed sensor in a snowstorm so the computer would not allow the truck into 4wd because of the traction-control/ESC system. There was no way to override it. Also the bw 44-44 clutch-based xfer case can overheat and then the computer disables 4wd. No good for serious off-road use. Ram really should not have put it in a truck targeted for off-road use.
Use auto if there "could be" slippery conditions, 4HI if you know it's slipperly. Don't do this and you'll overheat the t-case clutch pack, other than that we don't see any issues in service.

@@TFLtruck Are you sure about that? Other channels have done Apples to Apples testing (same tires, cab/bed, engine) but with different axle ratios and the lower ratios actually did better with modern higher gear count transmissions. This was with F150s and a 10-speed, but lower geared doesn't automatically mean lower MPG. You also have to consider tire diameter since that affects your final ratio.
Not needed with the turbos...my 2023 F150 3.5L EB pulls my dump trailer and mini-excavator all over Utah without hesitation with a 10sp transmission and a 3.55 rear gear. Empty it will stop light drag race with the best of them and get 20-22 mpg. Assuming the 3.92 comment came from an NA V8 owner who has no experience towing with a twin turbo V6 gasser.
Warlock goes back further than the 1500 Classic, all the way back to the late 70s. It was a W150 stepside with a special paint scheme, usually black or dark green with gold pinstriping. Special wheels, tires, and gauge cluster were also included.
I won’t fall into the FUD that many commenters seem to be having, but will say that of course it’ll be a bit better to wait another model year or two to have the best chance at a unremarkable ownership experience (from a recall or TSB standpoint).
I really have to commend Ram for picking a name like Warlock (which also happens to be an amazing old Western film with Anthony Quinn and DeForrest Kelly). I see a lot of used Rams for sale while shopping around and I'm not planning on getting a full-size, but I will admit there are some nice models that tempt me at times.
Yep. Nice wheels. I agree….. shoulda kept the V8 as an option. Prices….. outrageous, but I believe they are all that way. Where Stellantis falls way short, IMHO, is how they treat the dealers and customers with ordering. I tried to order a new Jeep in March….. 7 dealers, 3 states, no dealer would order what I spec’d out. Got a Bronco ordered, delivered in 7 weeks, and about $20K less than the average Jeep on the lot….. when your budget is $47K, and Jeep tries to sway you with a $5000 discount from $65k….. no a great deal.
Was considering RHO but bought a 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor. Best designed truck ever! People simply talk about the RHO's higher HP, which is true, but it is basically same on torque. And by the time you add all the options that come standard in base Raptor, RHO is way more expensive. So it is incorrect to say RHO is better value. Finally, Raptor looks much more bad ass.
I drove a hemi ram Warlock and new straight 6 and there was a 4 liter per 100km difference combined on the same route, the better going to the straight 6. What I didn't like was that when I opened the hood on the new straight 6 I was shocked at the amount of heat shielding, unbelievable, that engine must be running extremely hot - only run premium and change oil every 5000 kms or your gonna get it. Talked to a mechanic who said that these extended oil changes are insane and a lot of people apparently are blowing engines on the 0w20 oil and the super extended oil changes
The red RAM Rabel reminds me a little bit at the Power Wagon..😅 The Warlock in gray would not look bag. Especially with a chrome grill (only the grill). Also the cloth seats are nice. But some non-pianoblack style elements in the interior would be even nicer. So out of these 3.. hmm.. I would calculate between the Rebel and the Warlock. And if the dealer could switch the grill and we could find some interior options, I would take the Warlock.
My warlock was $ 43,000 in 2021 and it was well equipped with the limited slip , inch factory lift , upgraded Radiator, 3.92 diff and other interior goodies but it did not have lockers ,no rear passenger ventilation, , no brake controler , no all terrain tires , only offered in QuadCab configuration so I think the newer Warlocks as long as they’re under 50000 it’s an OK 👌🏻 deal , my first Ram was a 2017 1500 Express and it was $33,000 wth happened to those prices !!!
Great info Andre, thanks. However, I think the payload on the Warlock & Rebel is horrible for a full size truck. There are midsize trucks with the same or better payload (Colorado, Ranger - Raptor even). Ram literature says 3.0L with 5’7” crew cab & 4x4 has payload of 1890; so that means the options on this Rebel accounted for 500 lbs? At the end of the day not much more payload than a Wrangler Rubicon. That sucks considering it has so much more potential for an overland build due to the bed.
And they suuuuccckkkk!!! Get a rock within 3 feet of one of them and you'll see the sidewall just surrender and tear. One would think they're French (but Michellin makes a slightly better soft-roader, the BFG KO)
As Andre pointed out in a previous video, RAM hasn't sold well as of late and that started under the watch of the 5.7. Right now they are blowing out the competition on prices. We just got a SO Big Horn at $17k off MSRP. Mid 40s! It will dust off the 5.7 and all of its competitors with towing thrust and acceleration. Typical nice RAM interior. I've read of a few bugs but that's typical of all brand new engines. Ours runs smooth as silk and although I believe it will prove to be robust, with that discount we were able to get a great extended warranty. Once Stellantis gets its head out of its rear, these things will rebound the RAM brand sales wise.
That "TV for the passenger" is the biggest waste of money. We love that extra room in our TRX without it. We have the "TV" in our Jeep and never ever use it. We wish we had the extra space.
@Group.B the transmission is not the same as the TRX, so it won't last with that much boost. So, it would also need an upgraded transmission for that high of power.
Going to miss the V8 sound but this seems to the the path everyone is heading in with all the emissions regulations. I'd like to see a side by side teardown of this motor and BMW's S58 engine.
There's just one thing I never understood about the RAM truck is that I've never seen one reviewed with a power adjustable steering columb. I have seen it on both Ford and Chevy and GMC but never once on any RAM.

Heads up displays and crash detection are killing windshield prices, up to $3,500CDN for a windshield now depending on the vehicle and options
To me the Warlock with about a 20% discount would be about right for my needs. I’ve had the 392 rear diff before and I really liked it.
Ram really should not have put it in a truck targeted for off-road use.
pretty sure the rho has the same transfer case as the trx.. which is not a 44-44
Use auto if there "could be" slippery conditions, 4HI if you know it's slipperly. Don't do this and you'll overheat the t-case clutch pack, other than that we don't see any issues in service.
Shoulda just bought a jeep for offroading
With that extra screen on the passenger side, your wife has another reason to yell at you during the backup time 😂
still love my 2017 rebel with a hemi and the air suspension.
So stoked for the RHO. Looking forward to the drive tests. Love the videos TFL!!!
Neutered TRX😂
They ruined the rebel with taking away the led taillights n taking the led turn signals n led runners with the headlights it looks so base model now but ask for more money smh 🤦

3 Expensive Trucks only the rich could afford
I believe Andre’s new truck will be a Warlock.
I think the RHO is more of a competitor for the raptor rather than a trx replacement
Great review, thanks. The Warlock and Rebel are the same height. I'd take the Warlock any day.
Rebel can be raised with its air suspension
Andre, NICE 👍 👟 SHOES!. a high end seats for comfort, and a six passenger cab.
I want to see a road trip with Tommy in the middle of the front bench seat in between Roman and Andre to see how useful that 6th seat is over a center console with deep storage (that can accommodate a small safe if desired).
As always Andrea great journalism, you really went over every detail of these trucks.
And I agree with you, if you buy a Stellantis/Ram you had better get every bit of warranty you possibly can get. LOL
Thanks for the review..but again…pricing is just out of control at this point.
love the rho, cant wait to c a full review on it.
I agree. I'd take the Warlock with a discount. Only thing I'd like to have in it that it doesn't is 4wd auto.
Hanging on to my FIAT era Rebel for now. I don’t outright hate the I6, I just don’t trust Stellantis. And i’ve heard rumors of it being a nightmare in the Wagoneer. Also I hope you can get a new Rebel without a lot of that tech….
It sucks that all of the speciality trucks are crew cabs. Why can't we have a rebel in an extended cab, or better yet... A regular cab?!
What’s going to last longer? The inline 6 cylinder or Ram as a company?
🤣🤣🤣
My 2020 5.7 Ram 1500 has been flawless, now has 73,000 miles. I think the new inline 6s are cool but they should off the Hemi. If I trade, which I usually do every five years or so, I’ll be in a 5.0 F150.
can’t wait to see tuners covert those to a big single turbo monster
Get the 3.92 axle if you live in the mountains.
No. I want better MPG.
A trailer without brakes is like Lamb without the Tuna Fish!
@@jaytee1086 yep, like a snickers bar without the cod liver!
After the… you know what? Forget it. RAM is not my brand.
I’m a BIG fan of straight 6 engines. I had plenty of trucks with that 6 cylinder engines from broncos to f150s to old dodge trucks and a Chevy .
Warlock goes back further than the 1500 Classic, all the way back to the late 70s. It was a W150 stepside with a special paint scheme, usually black or dark green with gold pinstriping. Special wheels, tires, and gauge cluster were also included.
Most dealers are going to mark up the RHO just like FORD dealers do the Raptor.
That RHO fully loaded is gonna be as much as a fully loaded TRX for sure. I’ll keep my 22’ TRX. Bought it a good price and will keep that.
Preorder from Mark Dodge in Louisiana or Koons in Virginia. Both are giving between $9K to $11K or so off MSRP.
I won’t fall into the FUD that many commenters seem to be having, but will say that of course it’ll be a bit better to wait another model year or two to have the best chance at a unremarkable ownership experience (from a recall or TSB standpoint).
For those who remember the ram rebel was 40k new in 2020
I did not know that Ram is Andre’s favorite truck
Waiting for my RHO, super excited!
Looks good very exciting to see the warlock back
TFL please do stop participating in 60 second ads. Yahll already have the dream job. Don’t be greedy.
No standard cab even available. My next truck will probably be a Ford f-150 with a V-8 and a dipstick.
And wet belt🤢🤮
Need to see 6 seaters in more cars. No need to have 3 rows so you can get the vehicle you want out of a truck even with a big family or 3 couples
Hemi ram with the new 6🤔

Forgot to add...at least there are buttons and switches and knobs (not all touchscreen)
The red RAM Rabel reminds me a little bit at the Power Wagon..😅
The Warlock in gray would not look bag.
The RHO would be my dream truck, but I’d have to be dreaming to afford it
Been waiting on yall to review a warlock in person!
72k starting for the RHO is an absolute value. I'm guessing next year that price will climb.
friendly reminder the first ever raptor in 2010 released for 40k starting. Love ram but screw these prices!!
It's a baddass, and very comfortable. that's my only reason to buy one. No towing or off-roading. Just to cruise and chill 😎
Kinda excited to see what the new straight 6 in action.
Is the Wiring harness to short in the RHO? Are they still using the plastic Thermostat in the RHO engine?
Quite happy with my '19 Warlock. Only wish it were 4x4 instead of 2x4 =( ....least its got a Hemi! haha
@23:00... ZR2 is much older than Rebel. It was offered on the old S10's.
1:49 however, that is the prior generation Duratrac. I guess Goodyear and/or Ram had some extra inventory they needed to move.
And they suuuuccckkkk!!! Get a rock within 3 feet of one of them and you'll see the sidewall just surrender and tear. One would think they're French (but Michellin makes a slightly better soft-roader, the BFG KO)
I like the look of the warlock. Specially in black
It doesn't really look like a warlock anymore though.
667kg payload for a full-size pickup is funny when I have 970kg in my 2005 Isuzu D-Max, which is basically a compact 😂
Oh look, a TRX without what made the TRX cool.
Could say the same about the Raptor... it went from v8 to v6 and it didn't hurt sales. Stop 😢
@@atg1338 as TRX owner, I will cry damnit! Plus Raptor still gets a V8 option, even if it is ungodly expensive.
@@steve8032 i have a 2013 Raptor and a 2021 Raptor.... both do there job amd i could careless if one has a v6
Oh boy! A knob to shift my transmission. Because that’s what we all wanted. 🤦🏻♂️
That "TV for the passenger" is the biggest waste of money. We love that extra room in our TRX without it. We have the "TV" in our Jeep and never ever use it. We wish we had the extra space.
I was so stoked when the RHO was announced but 72k starting is ridiculous not to mention dealers will make the 90k trucks easily.
Why does it matter, Ram is a sinking ship. They adopted an engine that is going to be a paperweight.

Same, but RHO with a tune could push into 800hp range. It'll will be interesting to see how the aftermarket responds.
@Group.B the transmission is not the same as the TRX, so it won't last with that much boost. So, it would also need an upgraded transmission for that high of power.

My favourite truck is… the previous generation with the HEMI. NO V8 = NO SALE.
No ceiling a/c vents. My buddy’s RAM Truck is always hot in the back seats with those knee vents 😩. RAMS are the best looking trucks tho. 👍
