    Roman doesn’t get that Ram just opened more gates for more people to buy a truck like the RHO. The price went down by $20,000 and it keeps 95% of the performance. Let alone probably waaaay better mpg. And now that midsize trucks are $65,000, this RHO sounds even that much better. Roman is just hung up on the engine. That’s it. Price isn’t a factor for him. Ford is laughing all the way to the bank. What people say they want and what they actually want are usually opposite. You never go backwards, it’s like if the next gen Corvette was cheaper but had turbo 6 instead of the V8. Why do you think Ford never got rid of the V8 in the Mustang when the Ecoboost would’ve probably performed better? Because it wouldn’t be a Mustang.

    • @EastexCruiser
      @EastexCruiser 23 дня назад +26

      I am too agreeing with Andre. Roman talks about never going back, and why build a lesser powered vehicle. Why then does Ford still have their lesser powered Raptor, why not just have the Raptor-X? The RHO may not be the most powerful option, but it looks great, and by today’s pricing on vehicles is not outrageous (though I have serious issues with current pricing on vehicles).

    • @khakiswag
      @khakiswag 23 дня назад +5

      @@EastexCruiser Ford didn’t introduce the supercharged V8 first then go back to a turbo 6. They could’ve; the Coyote was designed from the beginning to be supercharged. Ford intentionally left the valley clean to make it easier to drop in a supercharger. But they saved that to play later if there was a challenger to the King. Smart move. Ram knew the HEMI was being discontinued when they introduced the TRX. So they should’ve offered a N.A. V8 as the TRX and the supercharged model as the TRX Hellcat knowing the next gen wouldn’t have the V8. This way they could still use the TRX name on this truck and make it more desirable. This truck looks like an option package.

Most squakers online are people that have never owned any of these trucks and never will even if they could afford them. They just love to look at contrived car channel numbers and think they know something about real world performance and livability. Roman likes to pretend they buy these vehicles to really test them out but cry's likes a baby if there's even a chance of trail damage because they are going to sell them later. However, though the Gladiator has apparently the most spacious interior of all mid-sized trucks in its segment, honestly the interior space is less than my wife’s compact SUV. Mid-sized trucks definitely have some advantages over full-sized trucks (easier to park, fits well in parking garages, can fit in smaller trails, etc.), but if you have a family, I’m definitely not recommending them. In fact, I have moved to driving classic trucks instead! I am happier to put my money in the hands of an individual than the hands of a corporation or dealership. A personal philosophy I guess for now. I have classics restomods that are worth more than any TRX or RaptorR, for now, the collector market is fickle. I just prefer driving them currently and also have my rebelling philosophy against high prices. Even though I have over 6 digit classics, I have yet to put 6 digits into a build. To me no pickup is actually very fast so why battle over what is the fastest performance truck when they are actually mediocre in actual speed. It’s kind of like racing turtles not many really care much which is a little faster. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize Ram is all about making a million different marketing packages and most likely the new TRX will be an electrified version of the six cylinder to max out the Six’s performance. Fortunately Ram has marketing teams that do research about what to release and when rather than taking the opinions of online video content. Ram knows they have to be cheaper because if close in price the Raptor is a no brainer because of the legacy and strong resale value. I own several Performance Teslas if I want actual raw power.

    its a more practical truck with hopefully better MPGs. more people can purchase this. I literally said to myself "I love the TRX but its too expensive and MPG are horrible." this has fixed that, buying this truck

    As a current TRX owner, I say this is a really good option for everyone who does not want to spend the extra buck on a TRX and also save money every day on gas, trust TRX is by far the most gas guzzling car I ever owned. If MPGs are way better, I am even considering an RHO.

    Roman. This is great. I’m the guy this truck is for. I own a construction company and can not make sense of getting a TRX to do what I do. I’m really considering the RHO. This makes sense for me. The bananas factor of the TRX turned me off on it. I’m a MOPAR guy, I own a 2017 Viper ACR, a 2022 Grand Wagoneer, a 2016 Ram. They just left room on the table for the next move.

    I think the RHO is a good move and this coming from a 2 time Raptor owner. Owned a 2019 and my current a 2021 with 50K miles on it. Since I purchased my 2021 Raptor new in Sept 2021, the Raptor prices have went from insane to crazy. Everything obviously has went up in price but with the economy being what it is, folks are looking for best bang for the buck and the Raptor is questionable especially with all of the price increases.
    In my opinion, the Raptor prices need get back to that $70K starting price.... the 3.5EB is pretty long in the tooth with no changes between the Gen2 and Gen 3/3.5. A HP boost would also be nice as well. Folk thought the Gen 3.5 would have a bump in HP, but nope...we were disappointed. 500HP should be the next benchmark for the next Raptor. The Raptor R is great but unobtainable for 95% of folk considering a truck like the Raptor or RHO/TRX.
    Speaking of Raptors....it's about time for an update video on my channel since I'm coming up on 3 years and 50K miles of ownership.

    also remember... saying "man everything is too expensive" doesnt mean you want to settle for a bare bones vehicle that you need live with for 10+ years. We can complain stuff costs to much then still buy the vehicle we WANT. I got a 23 zr2 colorado, cuz it had the features I wanted... and you damn right it was too expensive! That said, this RHO nails a sweet spot for MOST buyers who want a hot shit off-roader and are rational enough to know they are VERY unlikely to ever use the top 50% of the performance of a 'super truck'

    I just bought a 2022 TRX with 10k miles for 88k but 96k after shipping and fees. I am now thinking about selling it to get the RHO. There’s also dealerships selling the RHO for 10K less than msrp

    The RHO is a great thing for consumers that want a Raptor competitor. Not everyone wants or needs a 700hp truck. And yes, I much prefer the V8 because of the character and sound BUT i'd get an RHO. Perfect amount of power and still carries over the suspension from the last gen. This truck is not out of reach for many people now, only big caveat is if the dealerships dont go markup crazy.

    This truck is the result of of so many people buying a trx and owning it for a year as a novelty and then selling because they are tired of driving 250 miles between tank fill ups. This truck is going to take smart buyers away from ranger raptor (too small) and f150 raptor buyers simply because of the value. Having both a new f150 and a ram in the garage I can be unbiased when I say RAM builds I higher quality vehicle when it comes to driving experience and interior quality. Now they add more power to the equation at a lower price point for a true raptor competitor. Job well done I say

    The Gen 3 Raptor engine (3.5 TT V6) is way underrated by Ford. It is a common Ford practice to underrate their engines. Now that being said, it's probably not 540 horsepower either.
    Gen 3 Raptors are much quicker than Gen 2 models. The engine was retuned due to the coil spring rear suspension. However, Ford decided not to get the engine re-rated because the Raptor R was coming.

    100% Andre! An attainable TRX for the masses. Stellantis is not dumb, they are actually ahead of the game. Everyone knows that electrification is the new way to get instant power (think eRay) the next TRX will definitely be aided by a couple of motors inside a new transmission to keep everything else the way it is.

    Regarding Roman's point about the dealer having people waiting for the more expensive truck while base models languish, and the discrepancy on written vs. demonstrated price sensitivity, I think it comes down to the audience. The people who watch these videos and learn about what features new vehicles include and what they can do are the people who take issue with the prices, and who WANT cheaper vehicles because we actively USE them, we understand what they're capable of, and we want good value without a bunch of extra junk. But people who aren't as in the know are going to be less likely to have a sense of that value. If they need/want a new vehicle, they're just going to get whatever looks nicest, and unless it's _exorbitantly_ out of their price range, they're going to buy it, because they don't have the understanding of what it SHOULD cost (and with financing, it's all to easy to dilute the immediate total cost and make it easier to swallow). Simply put, if you go to buy something that you know next to nothing about, it's really easy to get scammed and not even realize it.
    Using myself as an example, I watch your videos duteously, and I'm in the boat that new vehicles are far too expensive. But I also bought my car used when it was already 15 years old, I bought it outright, and I've kept it ever since. I am not the kind of person who feels the need to have a new car every year or two. And if I were to need a new vehicle, I would almost certainly not buy one new, because when I buy something big like that, I spend DAYS doing a ton of research on the options, and I want to know exactly what I'm getting, what I'm going to spend, and what I COULD get for that money. Because I do that, I honestly don't think any new car would make the cut for me (maybe something simple like a Corolla or an Insight, if the price were right). But I expect that my ultimate decision would be to buy a used car, or just spend the money to keep my current car going. And because I do that, the only reason I would get a new (to me) vehicle would be if my car physically dies. So even if new vehicles WERE easily affordable and worth the cost, I STILL wouldn't be buying one unless I absolutely needed one.
    I believe that's the kind of person that generally watches your videos and is constantly lamenting how expensive new cars have gotten, but I don't think that's the kind of person that is actually BUYING new cars. Therefore, we're not the kind of person that manufacturers are targeting. They're selling to people who want to keep up with the Joneses, and who are just going to buy without looking too hard, rather than people who diligently look under the hood, so to speak. Just my 2 ¢ents.

    Per the reveal video from Ram RHO stands for “Rebel High Output” keep in mind when the TRX was a concept it was a Ram Rebel TRX, when put into production and to fruition it was just called TRX and was to be a Raptor Killer. The RHO is to be a direct competitor to the V6 Raptor hence why Ram undercut the price. The Rebel X is the 15th anniversary edition of the Rebel. So essentially the RHO is the Rebel to get in 2025 as it’s cheaper then a regular Rebel make that make sense.

    This is not a step backwards. On the contrary. They're finally closing a gap. Now I have more driving pleasure than in a normal RAM and more load capacity and towing capacity than in the TRX and, thank God, without electric hybrid crap. The car lasts longer and the resale price is more stable. It's also more economical thanks to less weight and 2 fewer cylinders. And at a more favourable price. This is a truck with fun, everyday utility and the possibilities of a touring vehicle. I think they've hit the nail on the head.

    I think you’re speaking from someone who can get whatever you want, that’s not most people. The TRX was not even an option because of price and availability. This vehicle is a vehicle that most people would be able to afford and would be more available. I think it was a great idea. I feel it’s going to be successful. I know this exactly what I need and will be ordering one.

    15:12 wrong interpretation of data. The SR5 is too expensive for those shopping in that category, hence they aren’t selling. Sure, there are those who can afford the higher trims, but to confuse that customer with the average midsize truck price range shopper is wrong. Nissan Frontier is selling well and I don’t think that is a coincidence.

    I like this option. Its very close in 0-60 time and the look is amazing and its within reach as far of affordability. As always Rams interior looks great too. I want time for the 3.0 Hurricane motor to be out there and see its durability and any issues it might have.

    What Roman said is absolutely the reason I came watched this video! I’m looking forward to get a new off roader next year and I was thinking about 4Runner/Land Cruiser or Tacoma but with the ridiculous pricing I was thinking about getting a GX or Ram RHO. I just don’t know if the new Ram is reliable for a long time and wish you had covered that as well!

    I’m on Andre’s side. I also compared Rams 0-60 times from the TRX to what Ram says the RHO can do and the RHO can do 0-60 in 4.6 which is only 0.1 of a second slower than the TRX. The average person who owns these trucks won’t notice that 0.1 different between the TRX and RHO.

    Roman,you're wrong. Selling posters sells a few trucks. Putting the RHO into the cost range of more people sells tons or trucks. Then you bring back the TRX and get the advertising from that to sell more RHOs.

    At 175hp/liter, the big question for me is what is going to break and how soon with off road use? that level of power per liter is a long term durability issue.
