Maybe age up the characters to like 16, and make Marinette a better character, give Adrien more screen time, and maybe do something else with Chloe?
if i were to age characters i'd personally have them be in their second-to-last and last year of highschool for majority of the show. that's the peak time-frame for messy relationships and questionable life choices
(also i'd rewrite master fu's whole character. i wouldn't make mari be a guardian at all, but if i absolutely had to, i'd have her study the miraculous during the show proper and maybe use alyx to hint that she becomes a full-fledged guardian sometime in the future)

The moment Adrien and Marinette unfortunately jump into a relationship is the moment I'll abandon ship as I won't stay for the sh*tty aftermath that will follow that trainwreck. because they don’t know each other’s identities, and the reason they get miraculous isn’t just because Ladybug knows them, but because they get a miraculous whenever their loved ones are in danger. i.e. Alya getting the fox pendant to save the twins, Nino getting the turtle bracelet to save Alya, Chloe getting the bee comb to save her André.

The only episode where she does anything that’s over the line weird is Chat Blanc during the beginning, and like I said before, it was more a problem with the writers trying to portray someone who is obsessive and not knowing where the limit for it should be drawn. However, this bad aspect of her character has basically disappeared in season 4, so we should at least acknowledge the development in that regard.
Marinette is so irresponsible as a guardian, she barely thinks about her actions when it comes to giving people miraculous, she is so horribly written but at least my boy luka got a dad and our favourite side characters got some development

Chloe relapsed back into her old behavior because she lost inspiration to become a better person like in the first three seasons. And even when she was still considered a character that had a redemption arc, she was still pretty mean most of the time (like in Stormy Weather 2). In season 4, the added dislike of her sister was making her act more like her mother than before.

Why? Because Marinette acted responsibly and broke up with him realizing that she’d always have to be dishonest in their relationship and just hurt him even more severely? And the fact that she said Adrien while calling him is just clumsiness and tripping over her words; she’s not trying to be malicious.
As...not good as Marinette's writing has been lately, even I think she handled her break up pretty well, and a million times better than Adrien. I do think she and Luka should have made it clear how Marinette felt about him but it's Miraculous, the writing will only get so decent.
@@47ratsinahoodie Marinette was clear that she had feelings for Luka too. She just wasn’t committed to showing that it was only him she had feelings for. And Marinette’s character writing has been improving a lot in season 4 with her facing greater challenges and maturing rather than remain the obsessed girl she was. Most characters in this season are getting better development and depth in general, which was always the show’s main problem at the end of the day. The plot writing has always been getting better each season.

Honestly I think it circles back to Hawkmoth's "I should take more inspiration from [Chloe]". As in, if she's nice now, they'll lose at least half the enemy of the season. Of course there's always Lila, but Lila is generally 'nice' to everyone but Marinette-and even then it's because Marinette is the only one who doesn't believe her lies. Lila's sole motivation is to bring down Ladybug anyway, so as far as she's concerned there's no point in akumatize-ing her classmates since she doesn't even know who Ladybug is.

@@ghostlycrab9879 Hmm, you do have a point. But I think the idea is for Lila to be a threat to the Miraculous holders instead. Chloe is... short-sighted. She's more focused on what's in front of her and what's irritating her _at the moment_. But Lila actually want revenge against Ladybug, and she doesn't see it as a problem to construct an actual plan to take her, and, presumably, every other Miraculous holder down. And to make that work and not get any repercussions against herself, she needs as many people on her side as possible-meaning she needs people who will defend her, and people who will be very easily used by her (remember what happened in Chameleon? Yeah).
All in all, Chloe has the mindset of 'not needing anybody but herself and her father's wealth', Lila has the mindset of 'Anybody can be my tool, but no tool works when you don't take care of them."
