I waited my WHOLE life for ppl to finally appreciate dreamhouse Ken. Their relationship is so healthy and supportive of each other. My fave part was Cringing in the Rain, when it stopped raining and Barbie and her friends were sad so Ken used a shower head. HE WAS ALWAYS READY TO MAKE HER HAPPY, SATISFY AND FULFILL HER NEEDS, IN THE HARDEST OR SIMPLEST WAY. Love him!

He was not only intelligent and less naive, he genuinely wanted everything that was best for Barbie. Also, he would’ve never even wanted to establish the patriarchy in Barbie Lane in the first place bc he wouldn’t have found it appealing and he’s already content with the role of being her boyfriend (he literally acknowledges that himself). Additionally, they both had a more mutual relationship of appreciation and respect for each other compared to the live action movie version of themselves. But, I do understand and admire that the live action movie had a different message they wanted to be voiced/get across.

(Spoiler alert) The Barbie 2023 movie Barbie was pretty mean to Ken prior to his antagonist arc. Not because she didn’t want to date him (totally fair and understandable), but she spent a lot of time being actively dismissive towards him, like how she went out of her way to remind him that literally every other Barbie mattered more to her than he did, how she said it was HER dream house (and we never got an answer for if the Kens live anywhere), not his, how she legitimately told Gloria and Sasha that he was superfluous, and how, after everything was said and done, the Kens are still second to the Barbies and Ken only got an apology for her taking him for granted, not for supporting him being a second class citizen and all the hurtful things she said and did over the years.

Also, it’s hinted in the movie that since Barbie’s owner (America’s character) never actually owned a Ken doll, there wasn’t that connection between Barbie and Ken, which is why she didn’t notice him a lot. Nah, the point of movie Ken was to illustrate the dynamics of men and women under patriarchy and why some men lean so hard into it. Movie Ken centered his whole identity around being with a woman, and when that woman didn't feel the same, he tried to make her life hell. The movie dealt with critiquing systems of oppression and exploitation while still having compassion and humanity for the individuals, including Ken. It's not a kid's movie.
