I'll never forget going to a friends house for a sleepover as a kid. He wasn't home yet but his older brother was, and he was playing Doom II through his giant home stereo system speakers. You could hear the shotgun from outside the door and I'll never forget that sound of the shotgun blasting and reloading. Chck Chck. ;)
@@nightsightproductions I created a text file in the gzdoom dir, named it whatever and wrote gzdoom.exe +rt_fluid 0 into it, then I quit notepad (saved first) and renamed the file to whatever.bat , and ran that. Had to ran it only once like this.
Considering there's a ton of low-level stuff going on to talk directly to the GPU hardware, rather than working through established API calls, I suspect there's a bit more to do than just compile it for Linux. But you never know. The Vulkan pipeline is growing hardcore. And we already know both RT and PT works on Linux, since I can run Cyberpunk with both.
Yeah, and it would appear that neither the map, nor the lighting settings, have been adjusted at all, leading to those awkward hyperexposed bright areas and pitch black areas right next to them. With real light bounces, that would never happen, so I dunno what's going on with this renderer, but it seems to be working on very shallow depth for performance reasons.
Update: Since the config file does not generate sometimes, we provided a replacement one in the description
Thanks for that!
pretty much how doom looked to me as a kid

Yep, same. Just like Quake, in my memories. When QII came out I was in heaven. Couldn’t comprehend graphics being any better at the time lol
@@ryanmac8829 I lived and breathed Quake2. Used to play in a CTF Clan back in the day. ;)
Nice. A remastered version just came out on Steam 2 weeks ago too...this game will NEVER die lol.
both doom and skyrim will never die...
But they won't remake Interstate 76 or 82. Those were great games that need a breath of life. ;)
Thats what doom looked like to me the first time. But this accentuates the grittiness of doom 2
Thx for the help got it working

I have no config file there.
I noticed this problem as well. I'll upload a replacement one in the description later today for people having similar issues
make a bat file containing
gzdoom.exe +rt_fluid 0
Check the description, there is now a replacement one for download

@@pivkaaa This might actually solve a problem over on Linux
How to make it work on Linux??????
Currently it seems there's no way yet

Does it work for Rx 6000 cards as well?
@@d4rkz3nn3n yes
Can this run on the M1 air ?
@@Mr.Coffee576 No, but it could possibly run on M3, we'll possibly be getting one of those chips soon as well
Any one got this running on a steam deck?
Trying to, but Linux has some issues right now
We love classic, so nah
имел 7600 слабая карта . стоял выбор между 7800XT и 4070 . взял 4070 и не прогадал . фпс уровня 7900XTX
with dlss and rt the 4060 can be even better than the 7900xt, they all lied to us

Ray Tracing in 2d game...
I mean, the voxels pretty much make it a full 3D game now
Doom's not 2d at all
