Had a 2024 GX Avenir since May of 2023 and it’s been great!
Our 20 something year old daughter and her husband love their Encore and so do their friends. Luckily most are being sold for thousands less than MSRP.
We have the 2022 model. They summed it up perfectly when the said the power train was “adequate”. It’s certainly not fun or sporty but there’s nothing wrong with it. It picks up quickly and has plenty of passing power on the highway. Definitely get the AWD version though to avoid the CVT
I’m in Oklahoma and I found the avenir with AWD going for 28k. That’s where it should be.
I love that Buick. I'd love to have one.
- We have a lot of these in Spokane, they started appearing quickly in 2019 as they were released; we have two very big Buick dealerships in the Spokane area.
- The top grade at 37k is too much, but the mid grade for around 30-32k is very reasonable . . . I see lots with senior's driving, but also 20s, 30s, 40s women . . . for the ladies, it's the new Mini Cooper for those who live in the Mountain West.
Overpriced, but pretty nice for a small CUV. I agree with Roman on the buyer for this. I think the intended audience are people who are downsizing from a larger American vehicle.
Not really because they’re usually always heavily discounted at the dealers
@@bjay8197 not really. used ones sell for very nearly as much as new ones.
Maybe talk about that engine and its reliability...
I disagree 100% about the chrome. I love the sexy, shiney and very elegant chrome trim!!! It's a gorgeous car!! Thank you Buick for keeping classy in style. It looks so much better than the off road sport look or track race car, with black tires and grills. Not everyone is into sporty race car looks.
The Encore Sport Touring trim is priced about $27,000 in my area and you’re not sacrificing much on features.
I like the old school mixed with the new School
I really like the new look of the Buicks. Doesn’t look like it’s designed by an 8 year old like the rest of GM
tiny engine with odd # of cylinders + turbo = questionable long term reliability.
There's nothing inherently unreliable about 3cyl engines, but slapping a turbo on makes any engine more problematic than without it.
I agree. It should've been a hybrid only car.
@@SouthsideKidd550Turbos are lighter and more efficient for a given power level. This applies equally to hybrid and non hybrid. Most new car buyers/leasers don’t care about long term reliability, they’re likely not planning to have the car more than 3/5 years, but they do care about MPG.
@@ATH_Berkshire From my experiences of ownership of small cars, I owned a Chevy Cruze (junk and glad I got rid of it) which is factory turbocharged was less efficient and heavier than my 2024 Toyota Corolla Hybrid that I currently own. However, each brand uses different materials. Its a confusing thing across the board I must say.😂
Don't these engines have wet timing belts?
This is a great car my mom just leased one back in May and it was by far the best lease deal in its class
I'm not a fan of chrome, but I think that grill looks great on that vehicle.
Very nice looking little suv !!!
The local Chevrolet-Buick dealer in my area, just recently dropped their Buick franchise after selling them for almost 60+ years.
buick is supposedly going all EV soon.
I like the chrome blacked outed reminds of a rattle can paint job.
37k would get you a nice cx-50 with more power and a nicer looking inside and outside.
Yep. Encore is grotesquely overpriced for what it is.
That's what I was just thinking.
Yesss for sure !!!
0% finance deals with mazda too. cx5 made in japan might be the more reliable option.
That's about $10k too much....
Gm basically got caught with their pants down with the slowdown of the ev market and pulled an Asian market car to fill the slot in their lineup.
It's way too expensive for what it is, and the power numbers and performance don't justify the poor fuel economy. The Buick Envista is larger and offers much better rear passenger room even though it's significantly cheaper. The top Avenir is around $30k, which is a more realistic price. Tiny turbo engines in place of larger displacement naturally aspirated engines don't make sense. They tend to not be more fuel-efficient and they add complexity and expense to long-term ownership. Also, this is made by GM Korea (Daewoo), which are notoriously problematic cars long-term. Think of the Chevy Cruze and the previous generation Encore.
Thx I need to here this.. so long term it notva goid vehcile. Any one had this vehicle for 4 yr or more??
$37,000+ is not cheap. And if I were to pay that, I would not be cheerful.
It’s certainly not going to last, IMO. So how long before it’s a $5k car, or too expensive to fix? OTOH, do people really pay close to that?
Agreed. To be fair though... that's the top Avenir trim with all the bells and whistles. Lower trims start at $26k, which is more reasonable. I wish reviewers would stop always reviewing the fully-loaded top trim levels so much, or at least just mention the base price. I'm sure most of these models will sell in the high $20's or low $30's.
But yeah, if I was gonna spend $37k on a Buick, I'd be looking at the larger Envision. Generally speaking, I'd rather buy a mid trim of a bigger model than the top trim of a smaller one. I think most people feel the same.
@@stephencooper3583 Even at $26k for the base trim, it's still a little pricey. There are more spacious and more reliable CUVs for that price with equal interior quality and features.
@@stephencooper3583Reviewers can only practically/economically review what the manufacturers send out from their press fleet. If you want to see reviews of base cars you need to convince the car companies to send them out. I suspect the manufacturers send out high spec cars in the hope people will want what they’ve seen in the press and stump up the money for the high spec, much higher profit trims.
37k for a 3 cylinder, my god
I'm old school on Buicks - I would be fine with the crossovers if it still made at least one sedan or coupe - granted, sedans didn't sell and they were discontinued, so my response here is admittedly a little 'bitter' LOL - The Encore GX is an impressive car given some of GM's other offerings. The styling is just bland to me. However, more importantly 1) the MSRP on the Encore GX is indeed too high...37K???? for those who got the car discounted down to 30K or under, good deal. and 2) the new Buick Envista appears to be a better value to me - it's longer, bigger, more spacious (except cargo capacity, which Encore has the advantage).... and it's far cheaper and more in tune to the intended market.
They make the Envista, which is newer and cheaper than this (although AWD isn't even offered on that one, and it has a 6 speed automatic transmission). Sounds strange that GM will do that. Also, why would they not just offer the 9 speed automatic as standard since you can switch between FWD and AWD on the AWD models?
I suspect the CVT version gets significantly better MPG. A segment of the market cares far more about MPG than about how the car sounds/feels to drive.
I love suv but they should've kept making sedans i love my 2015 Buick Lacrosse 3.6 v6 all wheel drive get 31.3 mpg on the hwy
I love the comments complaining about the high price on this 3 cylinder uglobox crossover SUV, when the GR Yaris/GR Corolla exists...
I love the chrome
give this the bolt powertrain with an updated battery and faster charging for about 35k could be nice.
That's not really a bad price compared to a premium Rav4 or Tucson.
Those vehicles are larger though with much bigger engines, and I'll argue that the Tucson is as luxurious in design and feel as this Encore.
@@palebeachbum Tucson large? Not really. And no more luxurious.
I'm fine with the power. Love the looks .
But Buick needs a truly off road capaple SUV. I would pay ten grand more for proper 4wd DNA.
Will Roman come around if they have midnight version? And he didn’t wear his red sneakers to match.
It needs red tow hooks!
I wonder if it will pull a 5x8 or a waverunner
Too many tried and true alternatives in this class for me to even consider one.
GOD all this SUV / Crossover stuff all looks alike and is getting SO BOARING !
This car with a manual would be great in Europe, but that will never happen...
What? 37k!!!!!! I just knew you were about to say 26 k
About $10k too high in this current market, with inflation.
About 3 years ago, that was a $23,000 car all day long.
Edit: Roman basically said the same thing at the end of the video, after I wrote this. $10k too high!
This would look much better without all the chrome.
I bet Maverick has better floor space n particular, although don't exterior, i rather had a sedan.
I hate the knob placement on the screen. The screen needs to be flush and seamless. It just looks like a tacky afterthought.
is this a bolt euv body and cabin just tweaked a little?
For a second, I thought you were going to say North Korea lol…. Thanks, Captain obvious 😂
MPG for such a small car is a bit meh! My stinger GT line gets 35 on the highway easy... 255 hp and 265 bft of torque.... Who is buying this??
Terrible fuel economy, but it's great, it's $37k, but it's great, but if it's against a Mercedes GLA. Come on guys...the "1% situations", "what if's" you focus on, the 98-99% of the issue is that this car, currently equipped, should be less than $30k, if Buick wants to play in market. Can't sell touchscreens anymore, we've had tablets, and phones forever. Skip Buick altogether.
Not bad
No
3 cylinder...REALLY?! Fred and Barney had four legs and I bet could get going quicker.
This may be the most expensive 3 cylinder car on the market.
Cheese Grader Grill
Spoiler: No
Lol
cheap my patootie! cheap for a millionaire, but even used ones with high miles are relatively expensive [compared to other used cars of similar type and mileage] for a working class person.
No thanks.
The day the OPEL MOKKA platform gets discontinued, will be a great day for the automotive world.
The entire platform, for nearly a decade, has been SO AWFUL 🤢. Everything wrong with OPEL / Buick / Vauxhall is represented in these vehicles.
also,…is this a Buick that is farmed out and built in China!?…Just as patriotic as anyone else here in the U.S. but I will NEVER KNOWINGLY waste my hard earned money on a vehicle made in China; I don’t give a damn WHOSE badge is on it.

First 🎉
Honestly why does Buick still exist, I couldn’t tell you the last time I saw a Buick. This GX is ugly as is all of there lineup & just need to give it up already.
Buick is very popular in China/overseas markets. That’s why.
I'm a GM customer, and squarely in the demographic of Buick buyers. The styling and price are fine. These, however, are not cars to buy if you want a reliable car for the next 10 years. The interior materials are cut rate, the electronics are problematic, and the engine and transmission have questionable longevity. You get what you pay for...
🙄
37k is insane for this. So many better vehicles I would take over this.
It is a Daewoo. Better choices are available. Don't be suckered into this thing
Agreed. Once you strip off the Buick badge and styling, you realize it's just a cheap quality Daewoo under the skin with a ridiculous price attached. There are much better choices, even from Hyundai and Kia, for the same money, let along from Mazda, Honda, Toyota, etc.
@@palebeachbum well said
It is a chinese car
Guys I’ve got a question Where is built this encore?
It's built in South Korea.
They say South Korea within the first minute. Did you even watch the video.
Korea, 0:30 Don’t a bot be you
Korea built it is
built and designed in cHinA
Isn't this vehicle completely Non American? No American Engineering? No American Assembly? (Only "American Engineered" Buick is the Enclave) Humm? It's more foregn than a Honda or a Toyota! ... And less reliable!
Huge proportion of the market doesn’t care where the car was designed and built.
built and designed in cHiNa
@@ATH_Berkshire Thank Mary Barra!
Absolutely not 🚫 Put it back where you got it from to collect dust 😅😅
That's horrible
guys you need to stand up straight … too much forward head posture is not good from a health perspective
No, no this Buick is not worth my time 😂
Christ that looks cheap
May be worth buying for less money, and a naturally aspirated four cyl. engine. Would be a good commuter car, just not confident about longevity..
Trash
Omg this stupid fcking obsession with gas guzzling torque and bigness! I like the chrome and i would be tempted except it is GM. Gen X here grew up on GM so ...
