We’ve had an Avenir for about 8 months. A few complaints, #1 no lane keeping on highway driving - there is lane reminder but that is very different, #2 driver seat auto memory is not easy to use. Ex; I assume that when you set the memory for a driver the seat will remember it and when you push the button and the seat will return to the program - well not really. You have to hold the button. The seat will move to the programmed memory when the car is started but the problem is if two different people have different settings the seat will return to the setting of the person who unlocked the car. If my wife unlocks and loads the car while I’m doing something else the seat will return to her setting even though I might be driving. #3 we are still trying to figure out some of the computer functions. It takes time sitting in the car with the manual to figure out some of the functions. After time if you don’t use a feature for a while we have to get the manual out again. Over all we like the car and enjoy driving it. Our mileage is 27/28 mpg. I do wish the gas tank was a bit larger as we can get about 250-275 miles on a tank full without running done close to empty. We need frequent stops more often then with our other vehicle. It may be safer to get out and move around more often however.
I am looking at all different makes of compact suv's to buy and my first place to look is you guys of course. This Buick was looking really good until it came to the pricing and I was stunned at how high it was. I can buy a loaded Mazda CX30 for less. A shame because I really liked it. So going to pass but thank you for a great unbiased review as usual.
IMO, GM offering a 3 banger implies they are cutting corners on mechanical reliability. The darn thing is a people mover - not an oversized lawn mower.

The price for this Buick is absolutely bonkers. A Buick crossover for $22 grand? For the interior, exterior, and features you get, that’s hard to beat. Granted, the engine isn’t the best thing out there, but still, it is tolerable for a car that price. I’d get this in a heartbeat over a similar priced Hyundai.
I don’t get it. Why you car reviewers don’t like to point it out there is no rear center headrest which is essential for safety. There is no shark fin antenna, either. Interior lights are not LEDs. It is not cool.
why is the steering wheel not flat at the bottom?? other reviews have a flat bottom steering wheel. This avenir is missing a lot of things. Also no pano either

Hey guys, me again. Your review says a 9 speed tranny but on the Buick website it shows a cvt only. Do you know if the 9 speed has since been discontinued. Thanks guys.
What an underwhelming departure for this brand. I have a 2000 Buick Park Avenue Ultra in showroom condition. It's more than "premium" which is a term we're overusing for vehicles today; it's downright luxurious. It's plush, it's unique, it's powerful, it's stunning to look at. This Buick, to me, is just basic, point A to B transportation no different from the likes of Honda or Toyota. It's nice enough, but it's not a real Buick or at least not in the way they used to be.
Would take a smile off the acceleration meter to make it 2/5. Don't recall another vehicle with a digital speedo that I saw every individual number when accelerating.
It's surprisingly faster then it looks lol the wife has one. It's comparable to a cobalt ss in the seat of the pants feel. My cobalt was under 7 seconds to 60mph. The 1.3L feels closer to 170hp.
It's a nice entry car for a secretary or someone just out of college and entering the job market. No (minimal) car enthusiast would waste their money buying or leasing it (and of course that isn't the demographic Buick is chasing).

@@mrgurulittle7000 Amazing how so many people have no clue their American car is being made by overseas labor. Typically South Koreans build better cars than domestic Americans build them. The American part about this car, the engine, is its WORST feature. American engines and American build quality are both worse than most German and Asian manufacturers.
@@jordanimatedstreamingBut we’re speaking former Daewoo operations that made this Buick. They weren’t that good, though I have to admit the UAW is probably the worst.
@@jordanimatedstreaming I have a 23 GX, and according to the window sticker, the engine was made in Korea while the transmission (CVT) was made in Mexico. No problems thus far, and I do the oil changes approx. every 5k miles.
9 seconds is adequate. Sometimes I wonder why 0-60 sprints are a thing in auto reviews since it's not something people do on a regular basis. I find the performance of the 1.3L Turbo better than the base engines of two previous cars I've had, which are Hyundai Kona and Subaru Impreza.
The turbos on these engines always fail early and often. GM doesn't pay the turbo supplier much money so the supplier doesn't build a quality durable unit. A 7 day test shows nothing about its durability. If you only plan to own this vehicle under warranty or if you buy an extended powertrain warranty, the factory will fix it under warranty or a co-pay will be charged under an extended warranty. Never ever buy any Encore without a powertrain warranty, Turbo replacements start at 2k and you will replacing it every 40,000 miles. And lets not even talk about the durability of that CVT transmission.
I'd like to know exactly how many $$$ hard touch, visually unattractive plastics actually save on cost. The fact that the top spec Avenir line which when fully loaded approaches $40,000 STILL has some hard touch, cheap looking surfaces is ridiculous.
A friend used to have a late model 4Runner. It was a $40k vehicle and it too had a hard plastic dashboard. I was driving a Mitsubishi Mirage at the time. He wasn't amused when I told him the interior quality of his mighty 4Runner was the same as America's cheapest car. lol

Top of the line and no cooled seats? Typical GM, you can go to Hyundai or Kia and pay the same money and get heated and ventilated seats in the front and back. GM has got to catch up and stop being so cheap with their features they offer on their "Top of the line " models. Ridiculous! I am a loyal GM buyer too. They are stripped down, overpriced vehicles. I am not sure my next vehicle will be a GM vehicle. I'm not sure I can stay with the brand.
Its not ridiculous, pretty normal for the bottom line lowest model in the lineup. Same goes for luxury brands. Being cheap is a ridiculous statement, you as an end user pay for all add ons at the end, no such thing as included, everything in the car is charged for. Sounds like you want to buy a Hyundai.
