Compact SUVs are an extremely popular segment in Canada, and Stephanie Wallcraft and I are driving two of them in this comparison: the 2024 Buick Encore GX versus the 2024 Mazda CX-5. They’re not quite head-to-head equal - the Mazda is slightly larger, and equipped with its optional and more powerful turbocharged engine - but they’re among the top vehicles people are searching out for more information, and so we’ll have a look.
Our Buick Encore GX is the top-line Avenir, with standard all-wheel drive and a starting price of $36,579, and further optioned with numerous features to $40,594. The Mazda CX-5 is in Suna trim, one step below the top Signature, and it’s $44,200.

Bad comparison, why didn’t you use the non turbo engine in the Mazda and why not use cx30 which is more in line with the encore???
