My Lincoln engine runs on all cylinders and when I start the engine, I turn-off the auto start-stop feature using the touch screen. I don't have to purchase after-market products to accomplish either. GM ran me away as a customer several years ago. I used to like my Chevys, Pontiacs, and GMCs. They left me, I didn't leave them.

      I basically abandoned GM after 2019 in my eyes. 2020 c8 though futuristic fast and amazing, is NOT a true corvette based on mid engine and all auto. It just went to a different market. The 2019 zr1 is basically the last amazing super car they make with a 7 speed manual. Their trucks aren’t what they used to be. And with their supposed voiced move to be “all electric” by 2030, completely capped any feelings I have toward their new lines. I’ll always be a GM guy in terms of Camaros GTOs G8s and the amazing corvette along with the older duramaxes all the Tahoes and Yukons/suburbans I grew up in … but I don’t think I’d ever buy new from GM or give them the time of day :(

    Buicks are beautiful cars, and with regular maintenance, they'll treat you well. My parents had a 03 LeSabre until about 8 months ago, and only traded it in because the rear struts were literally rusting off the car (they live in Connecticut, so the road salt corroded the strut mounts practically off). When they traded it in, that car boasted a whopping 217,000+ miles, and they would have kept driving it had it not been for that issue. Nowadays, they have a 2014 and 2017 Buick LaCrosse, both of which have given them no issues. When it's time to replace my car, I'm hoping to get a Buick myself.

      @@jasono2139dodge sucks. I had a 99 dodge Avenger that I bought in 2004 and I put it in reverse and then when I put it in drive it died and would not start. Don't remember what it was but it cost me $1300.00 to fix it. The engine idled ruff by the time it had 115,00 miles on it and I paid several people to fix it never could get it fixed. And one cold winter morning the driver side door handle broke after I had it 1 year so I always reached through the passenger side to open the door. Then one day at 158,000 miles another cold winter morning it just died on me while I was doing about 45mph and I had just enough to coast into the gas station.
      While I was making up my mind wether or not I was done with this car I decided to go into the gas station to get a coke. So I went to open the passenger side door and now THAT handle broke off so I threw it and said "I'M DONE WITH THIS CAR"
      then I brought an 09 Corolla in the fall of 08 now it has 139,000 miles and still runs like the day I bought it.
      And I went car shopping for my mom (she just wanted me to do it for her) and got her a 2015 Buick LaCrosse about 4 or 5 years ago have had no problems so far.

    I never thought I would ever purchase a GM vehicle, but the Enclave has more passenger space, more cargo space, and more actual useable room behind the third row than any of the competition. It also has a dual-clutch AWD system that can send power to a single wheel if needed (which they stupidly got rid of starting in 2022), lots of tech and safety features, active suspension damping, is quiet, and has excellent power and handling.

    Vicks Vapo-Rub works great to keep everything away. Mice, rats, squirrels, cats etc. The menthol really offends them. I buy a bunch every fall when I put my motorcycles away for the winter. I put holes in the lids and hide the bottles in my saddlebags, on the engine, under the dust cover on the seats, on the shelves in the shed, in my tool box, on the floor, etc. I also keep them in my cellar. I smear it inside the engine compartment of my Jeep too. The stuff is cheap and it works.

    I just bought a new 2022 Enclave because I have a young family (3 kids ages 4-7). We love it-I bought it because it has the most space of any three row SUV (cargo space is very good, most 3 rows including the Toyota have non-existent cargo space). Since purchasing, I have also found that I love the engine power (I go 80 mph without realizing), the quiet and smooth ride, the lane assist and safety features, the cameras, the wireless charging, the climate control, etc. HIGHLY recommend one of these to anyone with kids. Seats 7 comfortably.

    I learned to drive in 1989 Buick park avenue. I absolutely loved that car. Ugly brown with a vinyl top. It had the opera lights on the sides along with a power antenna and a weird auto closing trunk - I used to get pissed when people slammed it. It had a “concert sound II” sound system - I had the cd adapter that you put in the cassette deck to play my disc man.
    The 3800 engine was a so awesome. Not really a fast car, but it was reliable, the transmission shifted flawlessly, and it rode Ike an absolute dream. When I was 18 and me and my buddies wanted to go out we took “the old man” car and loved every minute of it.
    My dad had Buicks from the 1950’s until he died in 2003. He bought his first and only new car in early 2003 - a brand new park Avenue - he was able to drive it once before he succumbed to cancer. My mom had that car for 18 years…. The only reason it didn’t last longer was due to the salt on the roads in the northern US…. Engine and transmission still shifted smooth.
    Buick still holds a place in my heart as cheesy as that sounds.

As a basic matter of risk management, being able to control your vehicle in slippery conditions seems to make a hell of a lot of sense. You can flip the switch at the bottom to turn off the camera and then it functions like a regular rearview mirror. Although I don't know why you would want to unless you are in certain weather conditions. If it's raining pretty hard, or the vehicle is very dirty, it can be blurry. In those cases, I switch it off and use it like a regular mirror.

And has had a few long trips from Nevada to California but always very comfortable driving. She does have the regular maintenance when required and does take care of keeping car always clean inside and out. She is very diligent about taking care of things we both learned from my parents and that is like me I have had the same car for 39 years and not anal about maintenance but I always take care of either myself or a good mechanic that I have had do work on all my vehicles for the last 33 years and I plan to drive this car up to the day I leave this earth.

    I used to only buy Buicks, but then in 2007 they started making junk. I had the 1993 Park Avenue Ultra, 2001 LeSabre, 2005 LeSabre. The LeSabres never broke down. Then I bought a 2007 and 2008 Buick Lucerne and all that thing had was problems. I have switched to Honda now and I am sure liking getting 36 mpg.

    • @za4117
      @za4117 2 года назад +2

      The best buicks like your Park Avenue and LeSabres were made in Buick City, that mega 1 million squarefoot manufacturing facility in Flint, MI. They built great stuff there through the 90's but the Asian Competition (Honda, Toyota, and now Kia/Hyundai) still crushed them through their competitive advantage. Any Buick made in the ~20 or so years is a Chinese car made with Asian componenets.

  • @vdgitaliano
    @vdgitaliano Год назад +8

    We have two 2014 premium enclaves. They are absolutely beautiful inside and make the new ones look like junk. They, like he said, are absolutely luxury cars.
    Wood trim, European style LED accent mood lighting, heated and cooled seats... AND LOTS OF POWER! they get great gas milage for what they are. I get on average 19-20 mpg in the city and 27-30 on the highway
    Their cargo storage is okay, not great, but if I really wanted that I would have bought a Suburban. The articulating headlights are awesome and the overall comfort for long distance driving is excellent. They designed these cars with cross country travel in mind. A.C. works better than great and it heats up quickly too though here in Texas we don't have that much opportunity for the heating.
    Visibility all around the car is pretty good and the backup camera is the best we've ever had. Stero sounds fantastic and the engine and transmission are so quiet sometimes I have to see if the car is still running when I am at a stop, even with the radio off.
    Having the remote start is nice to get the AC going in the dead of summer and the circulation is more than sufficient even way in the third row for rear passengers. They thought of everything with these cars.
    Too bad they cheapened the interiors so bad on the new models. Ours in comparison to the new ones make them look like economy models.
    THE ONLY BAD THING... AND IT IS SERIOUS...is that you MUST check the oil frequently. These cars lose oil through a vent hole in the head or something and as a result can run low causing timing chain issues. Also, YOU MUST change the oil every 3500 to 5000 miles. These cars are picky and don't like to be ignored. You will pay dearly if you don't stay on top of the maintenance.

And of course a big repair to fix the transmission shudder… a torque converter. I also have to change the oil every 3-4K because some of the direct injection engines burn oil… which mine does. But the body and interior are holding up great. Quiet and rides nice.
