I have the same but bought it with 120 has 160 now, ive replaced ac line behind rear tire, 2 power steering pumps, heat actuator, spark plugs are 80 bucks for 6, replaced section of exhaust, then i developed a shudder with the torque converter, some bullshit 2oz bottle from autozone somehow fixed that.. Was able to fix the majority myself, over all, it drives like a dream.. These are all just normal things, even though it sounds like a headache. Key is changing transfluid every time you change the oil. Car was made to do this after 100k, i bet it'll go 250k easily with proper maintance

He knows what he is talking about. I changed the oil on my 2010 regularly so never had a problem with the timing chain but I know people who didn't and suffered a stretched chain. Never had a coil fail (maybe my 120,000 miles I had the car being mostly highway saved me from that). But I had two water pumps fail. Noticed the first failing in my garage under the extended warranty so I had the dealer replace it. The second one seized within 100 miles and the car had to be towed off the road back to the dealership for a third pump which was back-ordered. Power steering still worked when I sold it as did the dual zone climate control. It was a good car, just did not need a car that big anymore after 6 years of high mileage. Nice review on how to do it!

Not bad as far as I'm concerned.

Have a 2011 Enclave with 162,000 miles on it. Had the oil changed every 6,000 miles (oil sevice light) and transmission fluid every 30,000 miles. So far no major or minor issues with either. Some annoyances like late upshifting and medioctlre fuel ecenomy but otherwise just following regulat maintence schedule. Engine did run a little better after I replaced the PCV valve and lines ($40 in parts and less than 1 hour). Enlarged the holes in the PCV valve to match those of later model years.

2010 Buick Enclave 140k miles. Owned it the last 30k with Mobil 1 oil changes. Issues sway bar linkages replace, A/C line broke, both motor mounts broke, leaking from struts, some of this was just found as we are right now having to replace the engine, as pins let loose. Engine blew. 3800 was the best Buick engine, never had an engine problem with my old Lucerne. Almost 300k miles.

Great tips. This past Monday we purchased a 2012 Buick Enclave from the used car section of a local Ford dealer. The vehicle has almost 71,000 miles, three prior owners in which the vehicle was well maintained and a comprehensive Car Fax history. The salesman offered a warranty with the vehicle which added another $100 to the car payment, but to me it was worth it. I’ll service and work on the Buick all I can, but the warranty is for the major stuff I don’t have the facilities or time for doing.

I bought a 2009 with about 115k miles a little over a year ago Money was tight and it had to do in a pinch I just want to emphasize that now at 128k miles, EVERYTHING has been a problem! Bad coils, fuel injectors, alternator, ' sensors exhaust, water pump, battery access is a real pain, power steering pump... Basically every month, I'm spending nearly as much in repairs as I would for a new car note. As soon as I get back on my feet and can afford a replacement, this thing is gone.

I’m experiencing all of this right now. Seriously ALL OF THIS! I’m beyond livid. The only difference is that when I purchased mine, the dealer had wiped the title. Can’t find that it’s been in 3 serious crashes anywhere, but my mechanic confirmed and showed me how he can confidently say it has. They did their best in fixing/hiding the crashes, but failed in areas, so things don’t align perfectly and every time it rains, I cry because something electrical will malfunction. The 09 is known for having the worst fuel management system. Once something fails, the vehicle is basically done. You can repair it, but it will continuously fail. This is why the 2010 model has a different system. I paid $10,000, still owe $9,000 and I can’t even drive it.

Once you get over 200K on these vehicles you have to replace the timing chain. I paid $2600 CDN for a repair I don't think should of happened. Apparently GM has some kind of recall on this but my vehicle didn't meet the criteria due to time and mileage. My old Montanna Van went to 350K no problems but air conditioning couldn't be repaired. I"ve had nothing but problems with this vehicle in later years.

@@rockymaivia787if you're referring to the hvac actuator, the parts are not expensive, but you do need a few specialized tools to make the job easier, namely a flexible drill extender that can bend in two places. From experience, the actuator replacement is a pain in the ass to do by oneself though mainly due to access issues (for me it was the passenger side so we had to work around the glovebox. the alternative is going to a shop and paying a few hundred bucks for the mechanic to take on said pain in the ass lol

I have a 2011 with 80K on it (low mileage) and it's had the HVAC actuator problem, water pump problems. Forward flushed the ATF at 60K and do the full synthetic Walmart SuperTech oil every 8-10K. 3 sets of tires so far on a vehicle with only 80K, so it must be quite heavy. I changed the brake fluid and steering fluid so hopefully no issues with the steering in the future, but it was pretty dark and dirty when I did it. But number of other interior bits like the doors, steering accordian cover, rear arm rest have a been problems. I covered all the shiny chrome on the dash with liquid vinyl tape - just horrible to put anything reflective on an interior for driver safety and comfort.

    • @agems56
      @agems56 2 месяца назад

Who suggested brake fluid change? I found out the hard expensive way that most of the time it's not necessary, just like with transmission fluid where normal color change is used as an excuse to have it changed when in fact it is only a normal occurance!

Biggest issues with the engines is the VVT and the timing chains. I believe GM sets the oil maintenance service light at 7,500 miles. This is BS. You need to use a high quality synthetic 5W-30 and go no more than 4,000 miles between changes.

Would be nice if a program for the shift points was available. It is a very comfortable ride and does excellent in the snow and ice. Shifts nice and smooth but could use a little more on the low rpm shifts. Trans can shutter at this point thinking your trans is shot. There can be a lot of life still in it if the shift point is changed. If I had to pay someone to fix or replace all of the parts on here I probably would not buy another one. With my own repairs the cost is doable and am going to get another. The body looks very nice still after all of the winters of salty roads. Pickups of the same age are having the frames rot in half. These days if you want to drive a used vehicle either be prepared to pay the high price for repairs or be able to do it yourself. Hopefully you can find an honest shop with reasonable rates.

My Buick Enclave 2011 has been wonderful. The best car I have ever owned. I did have engine mounts problem about 50k miles. I found out from my Buick dealer mechanic that this was a major problem with years 2010;ton2012. The engine would vibrate terribly. It cost from the dealer about $600.00 way over charge. I now found a great mechanic and he works for a quarter of the price the dealer does. My car now is 12 years old and looks and drives like a new car. I just love it. However, it has cost about $10,000 over the passed 12 years. But worth ever penny. The car rides like the day i purchase it from the dealer. A new one now runs about $50,000 plus $3000.00 tax. I am lucky not one scratch on it. I will keep it until it starts costing to much to keep it. I thing about another 10;years is about right. It is a great automobile. Robert W

a couple things. obviously, this isnt a new video, but this is the second gen of the enclave, and had a change to the engine between the first and second gen. the timing chain issue is present in the first 2 generations. not sure about 2018 or newer. the timing chain issue arises from the same problem, and is similar to the eco tec engine problem. although keeping on an oil change regimen is obviously warranted, one of the causes of oil issues on this vehicle is the oil recirculation. many people with this variety of vehicle might see oil pooled up in the intake tube. it all stems down to how oil gets recirculated through the system. over time, when this system is restricted at all, it affects the dynamic of how oil is recirculated, and eventually how it lubes the timing chain and tensioner.i recall seeing a mechanic show the difference under the valve covers. under the rear valve cover, it is not nearly as clean as it is under the front valve cover, and that rear valve cover, not being so efficient, ultimately is the primary cause of what happens over time. many people found this out later on, because the same issue was present in the earlier new gen camaro. if you search online, there are many posts on how to modify the system to help with oil reticulation.
the issue itself was more prominent on the initial models of the enclave, but as far as i know, this issue still existed well after. ive had a 2008, which had the oil recirculation issue, and now have a 2016, which is all good currently, minus the coolant temp sensor that i had to replace yesterday

Issues with sluggish acceleration and higher rpms at higher speeds. Replaced one of the cam sensors and cleaned the throttle body and the issues didn’t really go away. Today I replaced the other cam sensor just in case and now it won’t even start or if it does, it shuts down after about 5 second. Wondering if it’s an oxygen sensor or the throttle kicker actuator (symptoms and theory behind this sound spot on).

I've been gm for 8 years. At buick for 5 years Timing chain issues are extremely rare. Coils. Also rare.
Here is a list from myself being a cert gm tech
    Ps pressure hose common.
    Control arm bushings common.
    Ac actuators common.
Oil leaks. Almost every single one produced will leak at some point due to the timing cover design.
    Water pump. Sometimes.
    Rear evaporator also common.
Replacing the battery or disconnecting the fuse block will sometimes cause actuators to fail.
    Engine mounts also common.
DO not buy one of these vehicles unless you have an extended service contract any repair will cost a lot and they have failing parts all the time. Do not buy one. At buick these are our bread and butter.

I just replaced the other sensor today and now it won’t even run or if it does start it will die after about 5 seconds. I’m not a mechanic and I’m kind of lost with what to do at this point. The timing chain WILL rattle around a little bit on every cold start on these motors...they have a hydraulic chain tensioner that activates w/ oil pressure so it takes up to maybe 30 seconds or so to build this pressure after a cold start, then the chain will quieten down once the tensioner fully extends & takes out the slack...this is normal...it's when it starts to sound like that all the time or it starts setting a CEL is when u have a problem that needs to be addressed ASAP!

Sounds like you did the necessary repairs. How did the sprockets look on the cam gears and crankshaft ? If ok, the only other thing associated with the chain noise would be the cam VVT gear assembly(s). I’ve seen some that needed replacing along with the chain due to internal wear in those components. That is usually due to excessive miles put on the engine after the check valve timing light comes on along with low oil levels which doesn’t appear to be the issue in your case as your mileage is quite low. It is still possible that the noise your hearing at startup is low oil pressure until the engine gets to idle speed. This unfortunately is more common now that 5-20W oils have been introduced. You could try upgrading your oil to 10-30W to see if it makes a difference. I do this to all my vehicles that have excess of 100k miles to help make up the difference in crank and rod bearing wear.

Sounds like a personal fixation / obsession / or even a vendetta issue for you. (You've made several posts here alone regarding your old Enclave that all say the same thing)
Sad though it was for you personally, maybe it's time to get over it an move on. Many others (and their reviews are all over the internet. I've been reading them for days now) have great running Enclaves and praise their vehicle's performance even at close to 200k miles or more.
Just because your Enclave was (apparently) a problem child, and you were seemingly to cheap (or simply cash poor perhaps) to fix the problem when you had the chance to do so, doesn't mean all Enclaves are problems and therefore unfixable junk.
Sometimes bad things happen to good people, (and cars!) and those same people make poor choices that further aggravate their problems.
I wish you much better luck in the future with finding a reliable vehicle that will never cause you issues.

How about the later Enclaves? Are they known for problems also?

  • @denniscraig850

Any idea on how to “reboot” the Infotainment system on a 2017 Enclave? The “human interface” that allows voice commands is not working, especially to call a number in your Bluetooth connected iPhone. I’m out of ideas, and my dealer seems clueless as to how to even attack the problem.

@@feliciawilson3417 It is definitely the worst car I've ever owned in American History. Especially coming from an MDX. My PSP is leaking. I have to fill it every week. It has an oil leak, the suspension is shot and the Stabilitrak doesn't work.

A vehicle that didn't need repair would put mechanics out of business.

      Its not bad at all
my 2009 Enclave @ 99k starts every time trans shifts good & quick, engine is still quiet But I have a '09 Lexus ES350 as my everyday car, I don't think the Enclave should be driven hard everyday or it may wear faster I drive it easy every couple of days change the fluids on time so far so good

@@hobys3418 it ain't bad had my '09 Enclave CXL FWD for 2yrs now just broke 100k miles my FWD with new tires ploughs thru deep Chicago snow like AWD recently
Love the remote start but its disable when the Engine light comes on but works when it goes out on its own after a couple days
But its STILL smooth like new on the highway & Trans is still sharp & quick with light acceleration in the city
BUT its important to change that Trans fluid & I use only full synthetic Mobile 1 extended performance oil
I drive it every couple of days
So far in 2 years it needed
      Front struts = $1,000
      1 rear shock = $300
      Brakes all around /Rotor = $600
      LOVE my pearl white/gray Enclave

wait up, so if one were to change the plugs on one of these would they have to take the intake off to do it?

    • @Christina33IL
      @Christina33IL 2 года назад +1

Sounds like it, since they are under the coils, according to this video. 😔

    • @johnwayne007
      @johnwayne007 2 года назад +1

No, plugs and coils are 100% accessable without removing intake. I have a 2014 and only took 30 min. Just make sure engine is cold.
This was actually easier than my 2006 Escalade ESV.

Every one of the 5 problems you pointed, I have encountered and mostly handled. Now my mileage is over 130k, will push it through 150k and will be time to get rid of it.
Floaty ride and a lot of body leaning in general. Not a bad vehicle, just too much to work out.

Absolutely hate hate hate the Wi-Fi connectivity problems. It is a crapshoot every time I get in my Enclave with her I can get on the Internet or not. My former Tahoe absolutely zero problems instant connection. What is going on?
