    Just a heads up, I just bought a Preferred Envista. You can get get 3 packages that include the power liftgate, power seats, heated steering wheel, rain sensing windshied. blindspot, adaptive cruise control, phone charger and couple other things. So basically an Avenir without the roof and leather and rims (of course some other small things). MSRP was $26,495. I wanted the safety and the heat being in the midwest. My friend worked at the dealership and I wanted to test drive it. I traded in a 2020 Rav4 XLE. I was shocked how it drove. My first non Toyota in 20 years. I hope I dont regret it, but honestly dealing with a Toyota dealership is a nightmare right now. Plus to get a similar equipped Corolla Cross was about 8 grand more with mark ups. So all you "trade in people" can pound salt. I am up 8k already! lol

      OMG I would be so curious to hear your opinion in the future! Cause I test drove both: Envista and Corolla Hatchback. I was afraid to get the Envista just because it’s a newer car, so it doesn’t have the crash test score yet (what is the most important thing for me) and Corolla hatchback is considered one of the safest hatchback and car overall. Plus it has the lane center assist (the Envista just lane keep assist, but it doesn’t keep you in the center of the lane, it just avoid you to cross the lane). I went to the Buick dealer and I felt like trash, they treat me so bad. At Toyota the car has everything I want it but the better ground clearance and power liftgate. They have the reliability, plus 2 years of maintenance free (Buick doesn’t have that for the Envista, only for the other cars). I’m very very happy with the Corolla (it was exactly the same price as the envista I want it). But I confess that I loved the Envista as well. It’s such a hard decision, I really don’t regret but of course it’s cool to hear other peoples opinion and what made them to get one thing instead to another. I hope both of us made the right thing 🤣🤣🤣

    • @robertk2530
      @robertk2530 7 месяцев назад +7

      Use the lane keep assist for awhile and turn it off and drive on the highway without it. You will never turn it on again (opinion). I had it on my Rav4 and it on for years, but i was driving last winter in cold rain and wondering why my arms were getting tired. It was adjusting back and forth from the lane keep assist. Once I turned it off driving my Rav4 was much better. Absolutely love my Envista, fits my needs perfectly, quieter and more responsive than my Rav4. If the reliability is there on the Buick after 3 years I will stay with Buick, if not back to Toyota. @@danieltani2474

      That’s a good point about vehicle deals. It don’t matter that a Toyota keeps it’s value better. If you’re overpaying for that vehicle. 8k is a lot of money. I bought a ram over the tundra because the difference in the deal was 15k.

    There is a lot to like about this car. Credit to GM for offering an affordable car with an orientation towards comfort rather than sportiness. I'm getting old I admit, but yeah sometimes a car that quietly gets you from A to B and eats up highway miles drama-free on road trips is just the thing you need.

    Nice review. Spot on. I live in SW Florida and bought my ST a little over 2 weeks ago. This car wasn't even on my radar 3 weeks ago. Saw it by chance while looking at other car reviews on RUclips. Spent a solid week reading up on and watching every review I could find on it; went to the local dealer on a Saturday morning, test drove it and took it home that afternoon. So far, I am extremely pleased with it. I was looking at a completely different color option (black), which the dealer had on hand, but then I saw a White Frost Tricoat with the 18 inch black wheels sitting in the showroom. So glad I made that choice. It is simply a drop dead gorgeous car. I am a pretty no-nonsense kind of guy. The ST I bought did not come equipped with all the options; and I'm ok with this. No sunroof? OK with me, never really cared for them much anyway. No power seats? Mine are standard 6-way manual, I'm the only driver, and I managed to find a real sweet spot without the electronic controls. Didn't have the remote start or powered lift-gate? I don't care. Had these features on other cars I've owned and barely used them. Heated seats and steering wheel??? I live in Florida: 'nuff said. Not saying these wouldn't be nice features to have for others, just that they didn't interest me. The standard features are more than enough to make me happy, especially my bottom line/out-the-door price of $27,400 and that included the $1095 extra that the factory charges for that paint option. Could have walked out with any other of the other similarly equipped Envistas (and they ALL look beautiful) in a standard color option for $26,000. The car is extremely quiet going down the road. And the 3 cylinder engine is surprisingly quick and smooth. If you have a heavy foot and impatient driving habits, this might not be for you. I'm all about comfort, not speed. This is a nice compromise. Goes down the highway at 80 smooth as silk and no indication of an engine straining to go through its paces when needed. Like you VoV, I hope my feelings will still be the same after 6 months to a year, but I really have a good feeling about this car. So far so good. Hope your luck continues as well.

      I think it's a stunning looking hatchback, reminds me of my Toyota Celica hatchback I had soo many years ago. Especially considering the price on these. If you need a bigger cargo area to haul this and that, this car probably won't do. But for just getting to work and running around town, it's a great different look.

    Both this and the Trax are the first GM vehicles to catch my attention in many years. The Trailblazer/Encore GX are also interesting cars. Their 1.2 and 1.3 engines have been out for several years now and I haven't heard about any major problems so far.

      I have no factual basis for the statement I am about to make, but based on the past performance of similar vehicles, the engine in this Envista is going to be fine, but not extraordinary. That means it probably won't hold up like a Toyota or Honda engine, but it shouldn't be any worse than a typical small Ford or GM engine. And at the price you pay, you'll get your money's worth. Plus, for anyone purchasing one now, it will be new with a full GM warranty.

      I agree. I don't have one but I know what it is and I can't imagine trying to merge onto the interstate and not feeling like I was going to break the damn thing. I don't have a heavy foot and drive quite conservatively but merging and changing lanes at highway speeds sometimes you just need to be able to move. It's a great looking car and even if it was comfortable I can't help thinking I would need more. A hybrid option with battery assistance could fix that concern but if this "1.2L liter turbo 3 cyl is all they're going to offer I'll probably keep looking.

    I went to our local Buick dealership yesterday to see one of these. I was kinda excited. The salesman was so awful and rude I left. So they didn't have any in stock. But they were brimming with new cars. His sales approach was , "NO, we don't have any of those cars, so you won't be buying from here and more or less turned around and walked off." I've purchased 3 cars from this dealership since 98. I told him I'll find one somewhere and if I purchased one, I'll bring it buy so he could see one in person. These car dealerships act like we are still in covid times when they mark them up and people are standing in line to buy. Oh, BTW, I told him I was a repeat customer, and he looked at me and smirked. As if to so, "so"... Buick needs to get they want our business. It's still a Buick, I say, and it has an old person stigma. 😮😮😮 #twincitybuick

    The Avenir trim is Buick-exclusive with no equivalent in the Chevy Trax line. Likewise, there's no Buick equivalent to the base Trax LS or the 1RS. In the mid-spec trims the Buick lists at $100 more than the equivalent Chevy and it comes down to whether you like the fastback shape or the more wagon-like Trax.

  • @johnbuckingham6895

    Back in October this year,, I tested an Envista with the sport touring trim. I enjoyed it for the most part - it handled well, was very quiet/comfortable, and had exterior style to spare. It ran smoother and peppier than the cramped and jittery Mazda CX-30 that I had test driven the day before. That said, to make the Envista even better, Buick/GM need to add AWD, the 1.3 liter 155 HP engine from the Encore GX Sport Touring and Avenir trim lines, and - as noted in the video - a rear window washer and wiper. I live in central Massachusetts, where winter road salt obstructs visibility out of nearly every car window. Not including a washer/wiper combo on the Envista is a big cause for hesitation in my actually buying one. Offering a hybrid model would be welcome, too. (And I want one in deeper Blue Glow Metallic as on the new Trax - not the watery bland Ocean Blue currently featured. I'm particular that way.) Thanks for the real life review; the Envista is still in the running to succeed my beloved 15 & 1/2 year old Kia Optima EX V6.

      @henryd1981 4 месяца назад

      Um, adding AWD and the bigger engine to the Envista would defeat its own purpose, which is to be a premium, affordable vehicle. You might as well get the Encore GX, which only has a tad less passenger room but a tad more cargo room cargo room with more conventional SUV styling. I have a GX with the 1.3L, albeit with FWD, and I love it.

    The Envista is essentially a lengthened Trax with some upgrades. Both have the tiny 1.2L, 3-cylinder engine, with sleek styling. The Envision interior has notable panel gaps, handles bumps adequately but not as well as many other Buicks, door access somewhat compromised by styling.

    I work at a Buick GMC & Isuzu Trucks dealership. I’m 6’ 2” and I’m also impressed with the Buick Envista. Buick is testing their waters on the Envista to attract younger buyers. When I sat on the drivers seat of course I scoot the seat all the back and then I sat behind the driver seat. Like this guy says I still have leg room. Even though this is a 3 cylinder turbo with 137 horsepower and 162 foot pounds of torque with a 6 speed automatic transmission. Not a CVT. I’ve seen and sat on the Preferred package which is the basic package. Then the ST which is the Sport Touring package and then the Avenir which is the top of the line package. I like it. I’m impressed with Buick that they made the Envista. However let’s see what happens in the long run for reliability and more. Until then it looks very nice. I’m a lube technician since I know this.

It’s interesting to see that you achieved 42mpg at optimal speeds but that isn’t technically real world mpg. Is it possible to recreate real world mpg including city and highway without trying find optimal speeds to achieve the best mpg? I am assuming you are Vet based on your screen name. Sorry, but lack of AWD is a deal breaker for me. I dont go off road, but live in MN, where (most years) roads are snow covered and slippery 4-5 months of the year. The Envista is a very nice hatchback, and would probably be a great value in a warm weather climate. Only other caveat, is that I am somewhat suspicious of the reliability and longevity of those tiny turbocharged 3 bangers.
