Dear Emma, I am an English teacher in Ecuador. I always use your videos to reinforce explanations of grammar and improve the pronunciation of my students. The quality of your videos is excellent and you are beautiful, by the way. I hope someday you visit Ecuador (South America)
Since 2017... wow. Amo como explicas las cosas y como sabes perfectamente como enseñar en video, buena edición, interacción exacta entre lo editado y lo mostrado, "mirando las palabras" cuando aparecen para darles énfasis,
Thanks Emma! The way you explain the subjetcs is very sound and clear. I've been learning more now than during the whole last year, when i've taken private lessons. Great channel, congrats!
Our teacher recommended us to follow your lessons if we really need to improve, immediate from now I can affirm you’re at the top of communicate the information.thanks from deep my heart
Thank you beautiful, I have been watching you for couple of days and learned pretty much. Your way of teaching is gorgeous, every single word is so clear, pretty easy to understand. May GOD bless you
So far i have understood more about both em and i prefer using the past continuous to using the past cos i really wanna sound more fluent regarding My English level
That has been the best explanation about the difference between Simple Perfect and Continuous Perfect Tenses, ever, and the periods of times connection to "for" and "since"!
Really i have understand in this videos..I saw many more spoken English classes there , but your explanation is incredible.. when I speak English that time which tense come from here I was confused..now I got increased confident level..Thank you so much
Your videos are great. I wish I had found your channel much earlier! At the moment I am learning for an exam in English and some of your videos have been helping me a lot already. Thanks for that Emma :)
Emma just want to thank you again from the bottom of my heart ,i told my other iraqi friends to learn your beautiful lesson ,you are the best and wish you all the best for your help.
Emma, just a comment: I love your lessons, I'm also an English teacher and I always share them with my students! I usually tell my students that when we want to give emphasis to the duration of an activity that is still true in the present, we use the Present Perfect Continuous - apparently this makes things easier for them to understand, especially when the verbs are teach, work or live. For example, when I say "I have lived in Rio de Janeiro since 2010", I mean that this is still true today, but I just want to give you the fact, the final result. But when I say "I have been living in Rio de Janeiro since 2010", I want to emphasize the duration of an activity that is still true today. Emphasis on the duration of time, rather than in the fact itself. Does that make sense? Have an amazing day! Cheers!
I the same, but it was confusing because when they wanted to answer a worksheet, they didn't know when to emphasize duration or action. It applies for speaking, I guess
Thank you so much Emma.. I just love the way you've been teaching us. Even I'm a teacher, I'm really very impressed with your teaching skills and i love to learn from here..
hi emma! I'm from Argentina. And i've been practising my english skills with your videos. These grammar videos have been very useful . Would you please make one clarifying the differences between "going to" and "will"? And when we should use them. Thank you!
Dear Emma, Your videos are fantastic! Everything from the way you plan the course of your lessons to the fantastic visuals which are extremely helpful. Thank you so much for producing such comprehensive lessons! English learners are always very timid when it comes to to the Perfect Tenses, but with you explaining it so patiently you were able to make a difficult subject approachable to many more students. Again, Thank you!
I'm a non native speaker, I learned a little bit a few years ago. So, I'm here, tryin' to be able to do my online English homework, cause' my teacher only left it but he didn't explain anything. In conclusion, You saved me. Thank you. Sorry if I made a mistake bout' grammar or something else, I'm learning. ❤😂
Hi Emma, i'm a bit confused on your explanation. You said SINCE can only be used on present perfect but this sentense " they have been waiting since 3 o.clock" is present perfect continuous. Responde pls.
Dear Emma I am an English learner , and I have watched your video explaining about present perfect Tense | simple or continuous ? | for & since . it really helped me a lot and it also given me a better understanding of how to use a present perfect tense | simple or continuous plus for & since. I really appreciate your great job, thank you .
hi emma can i ask you question Could you tell me how uses in structure in the sentence, about "SOON AFTER" Would you especially make a video about this subject? THANK YOU SO MUCH BEST REGARDS
hi Emma, greetings from one English teacher to another!...just a comment re: your explanations here, and please don't take it as anything other than constructive! :-) Your work is generally flawless, but I do feel there may be a danger of misleading your adoring public here: the PPC, strictly speaking, only talks about the time UP TO NOW, with no guarantee that the action will continue into the future, or even that it is actually still happening at the moment of speaking (e.g. "Mr Bond, I've been expecting you." or "Where have you been? I've been waiting for you for ages!"). Of course in reality many of the actions talked about in the PPC do continue into the future, but guaranteed it is not, and I do feel that many of your students will finish watching this video thinking that PPC actions will always continue into the future... Point 2: I wouldn't make the distinction you do regarding work and live; I simply tell my classes that to all intents and purposes they're just honorary non-continuous verbs which can be used in either form with no difference in meaning, other than where your main focus is (on the action itself, or the duration thereof)...e.g. if I say "I've been living in Berlin for 15 years or so now!" I'm not saying I'm thinking of moving or that my continued presence here is in any way in doubt (I'm a dual citizen, hello Theresa May!), rather focusing on the (perceived) long time I've been here...when I study NCVs with my people, I introduce the PPC as the "classic" tense for "started in past, has continued to now", make them aware of NCVs (which must obviously be used in the PPS form to illustrate the same concept), and add that live and work should technically be used in the PPC, but are, as I say above, "honorary NCVS" which can be used in the PPS as well (my hunch is they're thus flexible because they're essentially the two most important things we do in our time on this planet, so the hive mind has deemed it acceptable to grant them honorary NCV status...!) OK, I hope that gives you food for thought, and if you feel like chewing the fat / arguing the toss / debating the merits of my points, feel free to answer! :-)
When you said "She has been borrowing our car every Thursday" I had a confusion with using the tense when comes to routine, do we not use a simple present tense when talking to an event that happens often? -please help
There is a subtle different between “She borrows our car every Thursday” and “She has been borrowing our car every Thursday”. Both are 100% correct. The first sentence implies the action is ongoing and she is still borrowing the car on Thursdays. The second second is the present perfect continuous tense. It’s an action that started in the past, continues in the present , but it’s not clear if it will continue in the future. For example, I could say “She has been borrowing our car on Thursdays, but she bought her own car.” Don’t worry about this one! Just know that you’re right and you can use the simple present tense if the action is ongoing.
I have been joining your channel since a while ...I have got many useful and helpul tips for most tenses ..I woul like to say thank you from the depth of my heart Emma
Wow my mind is quite open now! I have to practice a lot! Since yesterday I’ve been re-watching past perfect, present perfect, all about if clauses etc etc! Thank you! Sending a hello from São Paulo - Brazil!
Because then you aren’t specific, if you want to say clearly to someone what you are doing now and what you were doing 5 minutes ago, then you must use present perfect continuous.
"She has been borrowing car every day", but why not "she borrow our car everyday"???? Also: "i have been searching ...." but why not "i am searching..."?

Hello Teacker Emma. I am from Brazil and I love your classes. I have been learning so much with you. Big hug.

I've been watching your videos for over 2 months
I've lived ho chi mi city since 2018 to 2020.
thanks from Brazil...It's too hard to Brazilians, because, don't have that tenses in Portuguese...
The present perfect continuous exists in Portuguese. Anyway, Portuguese tenses are by far more difficult than English ones.
Hi...teacher ..i can not learn english ...i forget the class...only look to you...loll
Lol
I really like your lessons! you're so gorgeous!
Wow my mind is quite open now! I have to practice a lot! Since yesterday I’ve been re-watching past perfect, present perfect, all about if clauses etc etc! Thank you! Sending a hello from São Paulo - Brazil!
This is such a great video! Very clear contents, you talk slowly, great articulation, and, astonishingly, recorded it all in one take!
Wow, thank you!
If my english teacher was as pretty as you , i would never miss any of my classes 😂❤️ Thank you
Debería enamorarme de la clase ingles? O de la maestra? uwu
But can't I use the present continuous instead of present perfect continuous? Why should I Say "I've been eating pizza" and not "I am eating pizza"?
Because then you aren’t specific, if you want to say clearly to someone what you are doing now and what you were doing 5 minutes ago, then you must use present perfect continuous.
The explanation of the present perfect and continuous present perfect tense is very clear, thank you
I love you. You are saving my life in english class.

O no?
"She has been borrowing car every day", but why not "she borrow our car everyday"????
Also: "i have been searching ...." but why not "i am searching..."?
Dude, cause we want to show the connection with past. And present simple and continous only show action in present, what sometimes is not enough.
Because has just used or she and he

I've been looking for a good teacher like you since years💖
this is the best gammar video teaching that i have ever seen ! well done Emma and keep doing it ;)
Present perfect tense is very hard tense for me((( Present continuous is easier
Yes, it is challenging hopefully these lessons help to make the present perfect a little easier :)
I hope so, but your unearthly beauty helps and distracts :)
