      I believe you. I used a pokemon step tracker back in the day wheni delivered medication. I questioned it's accuracy when everyday was at or over 30k steps. It was consistent, that's for sure. You're going to put on some weight when you reduce that work load by 30%. I speak from experience.

    I did intermittent fasting, low carb diet change with walking 10000 steps. I lost 30 lbs in about 3 months.

    • @bobwallace9753
      @bobwallace9753 4 года назад +59

      Same here. Started with intermediate fasting (8 hour food window) and cutting way back on bread and pasta. Lost some weight which made walking easier so I started walking 10k steps per day. I lost 29 pounds in three months and have another ~10 to go.
      When I hit my weight goal I wonder what I'll do. I suspect I'll increase the eating window to 10 hours and include a bit more carb. But I want to continue the walking as it seems to have eliminated a bunch of stiffness and pain. (I'm an oldie.)

    • @Anonymous-qp4zf
      @Anonymous-qp4zf 4 года назад +6

      Yeah and once you stop those things, you'll gain fat again

    • @bobwallace9753
      @bobwallace9753 4 года назад +47

      @@Anonymous-qp4zf The trick for not getting fat is to find a medium ground between the regime that lets you lose weight and the regime that caused you to stay fat.
      A limited eating window of 10 hours would not be hard for me to follow. That's two hours more than what I'm using to lose weight but less than the number of hours of the past. And I expect I'll continue to walk because I enjoy it.
      And I'll weigh myself weekly. If I do put on a couple of pounds I'll tighten things up until I lose back to my goal.
      BTW, I'm averaging 2.5 pounds loss per week over the previous three months. And it's fairly painless. Actually, I have far fewer pains than before when I was heavy and walking less. Back then my knees almost always hurt when I walked and one hip hurt from time to time. That's gone.

    I've been doing distance walking for about 2 years now. My Fitbit is set for a 10,000 step daily goal but I usually walk about 13,000 steps on average daily. It takes me about 90 minutes to do 10,000 steps but I end up walking just a little over 2 hours daily averaging about 7 miles. I'm 77 and not overweight but have lost a few pounds but a lot of inches instead. I also do a 1-hour aqua fitness class 6 days a week at a local health club. Hey, I'm old but can still talk and still walk so I'm taking advantage of what God has still blessed me with. PS, I live in California where I can walk year-round.

    it's much easier to walk when you manage to live near the places you go everyday. if it makes sense to walk to work and the grocery store for instance rather than going by car or bus or train because it's just too close to justify the cost, then you won't even think about it.

      Definitely! I used to live 2 miles from work and walked there and back everyday. It was awesome. Then we moved and now I live 250 metres from work. It's much harder to get the same amount of walking in. I mean, I could make a 2 mile round trip to and from work, but it's much harder to motivate myself to do it.

    I started walking 2 years ago. Have had down times. The reason I started because I was snoring like a BUZZSAW! After my start, a couple if months, I wasn't snoring as much. Also, I have started swimming, and getting steps in the water. Walking in the water can be beneficial if you have sore joints! Back to walking. I live in Ohio, and we get some inclement weather. For those days, I have walking videos (I love Leslie Sansone!), dance videos, Zumba videos, etc. Plus, if you have amazon prime, you have access to free exercise videos. Plus, plus, RUclips has a ton!
    I applaude all off you doing this when you are younger. I didn't start until I was 48! And that was after four 9 lb children where I didn't lose the weight in between. Keep it up!👏👏👏 and thanks for the video!

      yeah, and i was on the livestream where Jack was expressing his frustration with having so many subs on RUclips and so few views, and even fewer turning up for live shows and he was asking for ideas of how to get more of that money into the artists hands rather than advertisers as well as ensuring that people that liked the artists would actually get the content they want. months later, he launched Patreon. I was all for it then. but then i found out that one of the artists i was supporting in Patreon was actually only getting a little more than half of what I was paying them. and I thought about what they were actually getting for that... a payment processing system and a shitty "community" system that's not even worth using. The artist has to do all of the promotion, the artist supplies all of the content, perks, and merch, it's not like a gallery space where there's a physical building to pay for, and limited space for the artists work to live in... I realized it would be cheaper for the artist to pay someone to create a website and just pay the creditcard processing fee themselves, and they would get a better product and keep more of the money... so now I'm pissed because I've been recommending Patreon to people, when i shouldn't have been.

    Having dogs forces me to go for two walks a day, and usually my husband and I try to do it together. We started doing it to get the dogs exercise but this video just made me realize how good it is for us too. I had already realized that dog walks are when we really get a chance to talk and that's one of my favorite parts, getting to spend time together with no other distractions. Right now my husband and the dogs are out of town for a few days so I haven't been walking and I feel pretty lethargic and I'm sure part of that is because I haven't been walking.
    I'm also going to be one of those obnoxious people and say I don't think the cold weather is a great excuse for not getting out. We live in Montana, where it also gets cold and crappy out and we still try to walk the dogs twice a day, every day. Sometimes on weekends it doesn't happen twice, and they just get one longer one, but we almost never let the weather be the reason we don't go for a walk. When it's cold we just super bundle up. If it's really cold, like single digits, negatives etc., we still walk but usually for not as long. That's a long way of saying that the weather isn't an excuse! What presents more of a challenge for us rather than the cold, is the lack of daylight here in the winter. It's dark when I leave for work, and dark when I come home. So we got some decent headlamps and have been walking in the dark. If we can do it in Montana you can do it in Wisconsin! (Although we have never tracked our steps, I don't think we get 10,000 every day. That sounds like a lot.)

And it's probably a lifestyle I'm going to continue with for the rest of my life. I'm so sick of hearing how someone or another has started IF and lost 3,000 lbs in just 7-days.....uh no. I'm on my 3rd month and weigh in only every 30 days. I've lost 11 lbs. that I know of and dropped a pant size which is so much more important. So IF and walking are doing the trick. I live in Palm Springs, CA so the weather right now is ideal. I only walk between 6-8k steps but I do it every single day and it's working.

Like, so many podcasts and audiobooks that it'd be impossible for a regular person to keep up. Often I find myself not wanting to walk, but knowing that I'm falling behind on my various listenings, so I throw on my headphones and go for a wander as an excuse to listen to more stuff. The problem with many people who train hard at the gym, is they wind up being sedentary more to "recover". That combined with over-estimating calorie burn and eating too much results in fatter "fit" people.
    I didn't start getting really lean until I started walking dogs part time a few years ago. Suddenly I was getting 20K+ steps most days of the week. LOL Regular daily walking, lifting weights 3-4 days per week, and a solid eating strategy like intermittent fasting is what makes the difference.

    Walking every day has been fantastic. On average, I get over 10,000 steps per day mostly without to many issues and it really helped with my health, weigh management and joint mobility. It gave me more energy, got me away from my computer and allowed me to see what was going on outside. Most of the time, I had a circuit that I would walk and variate so I did not need a purpose other than to walk. Personally, I have a lot of energy which I believe comes from my vegetarian transitioning to vegan diet and sometimes I actually have to tell myself to stop walking as I have other things that need doing. On the flip side, it does take up time and that is something that most people struggle to manage. I have time at the moment where I can walk but I do know that if I was a parent, it would be hard. Props for the video and for thinking outside the square. Propz.
