A day in the life of a car salesman at a Chevrolet Dealership. I've been in the business since 2004 and created a "Dealership Life" playlist to show you my experiences selling cars for a living. Hope you enjoy!

Love the video and update Dave.
Good luck with the contest Dave B and as always another awesome video 👍
We need Ed back on the channel ASAP 😂😂
Yes Ed needs to be a regular for sure.
noted!
Love these longer videos and tales of other sales people.
Another great Dave- keep them coming brother!!!
Thanks! Will do!
Great video Dave. Your Chevrolet store seems like a awesome environment to work with! I love your videos they are awesome!
Thanks 👍 It is a good group to work with
Fire video Dave B love your videos
Thanks my dude
@@DaveBsellsChevy u welcome bro
Amazing insight into the more nuanced details of negotiations & sales on vehicles for us total neophytes. That was awesome.
The Blazer EV looks gorgeous, can't wait to test drive an RS.
Thanks for teaching me a new word.. lol. I had to look up neophytes
I couldn't DO, "what YOU do" .... But, I DO ENJOY your channel content ... "THANKS" for posting, the good days and the Not so good days of car sales .... It shows the more HUMAN SIDE of it ........
Every single thing about Crazy Eddy is so perfect.
I Swear to God you really have to be the best Chevrolet salesman out there. Great video showing behind the scenes a little. 👍👍
Thank you 🙏
Getting my Bolt EUV Monday from Schumacher Denville. Your videos swayed me to make the plunge. Would love to pick your brain for a few min as I am nervous going EV. Thanks for the videos!
Awesome Frank! Congrats! I'd be happy to chat. Give me a call or stop into Livingston anytime 👍
Blazer still made in Mexico where GM pays their workers $6.58/day not a mistake not an hour. Then still charge $50,000 for it.
My Silverado was assembled in Mexico and wants to turn in at every Taco Bell it passes by.
Always great videos Dave. I will say out of the different vehicles we have had Chevy is the best hands down. Currently in an Equinox and love everything about it. Got back from a 1,300 mile vacation and exceeded GM fuel economy. Average speed of 75mph and average mpg was 33.4
Nice! Thanks for sharing. That's great mileage.
just a recommendation if you don't already; carry a microfiber towel and place between your paint/the charge cable if it is going to rub your paint.
Good idea. The problem with the charger I sometimes use is the retraction system for the cable is too strong so it pulls the cable very taught.
You must be excited for the 2023 Colorado. It looks gorgeous.
Yes, much needed interior update! It looks great!
Good content
Thank you 🙏
Yeah, and pushing the button to start is very hard to do!!
“If you want to do something that the car could have done already, that should be taken care of. The software should just do it.” - Elon
That Blazer is really good looking. But the Bolt is all the vehicle I really need.
The airport garage near me had a sign that said no Bolts allowed, lol. Made me think of you!
haha, I now have a special Bolt EV sticker with a QR code on it to inform that I have had the battery update done. I wonder if the airport would accept it.
Great video again Dave! Thanks for posting! Did you happen to see AlexSellsCars may be getting back into posting some vlogs? You should give him a shout out! He is a different brand of vehicle so I think that is ok to do? Take it easy man!
Yea, we speak through DM's from time to time. He'd have to come out with some consistent content before I'd do a shout out. I hope he does, if he builds the channel up he can make some extra money. Doesn't even have to be a big channel to earn a few hundred bucks a month.
I bet that loud sound you and Ed heard on that white Traverse was the plastic door check snapping. Nice.
It was definitely something, I couldn't get it to do it again... If it snapped would it need to be replaced? I'm not sure what a plastic door check is.
@@DaveBsellsChevy When you have the door open, look in to where the door hinges are. In between the two door hinges, there is a black plastic door check. In your video, it looks like it's is broken. It is an easy fix. Just have service replace the part.
Do a walk thru of how the finance sept works?! Great video
From one car vlogger to another. Your videos look great. I am curious, how much editing are you doing?
Hope your making 100K+ because you seem talented
Right on 👍
Audi Etron has the same style charge doors. They easy to use and no issue regarding charging. Only thing I would say is the Chevy looks to have slightly bigger charge doors
cool, good to know 👍
Dave, no customer likes to be chased down in the parking lot trying to leave a dealership. Good luck in the contest!
It's ok if you're returning the wallet they dropped.
It's not chasing the client down.. It's more like you say your goodbye's inside the showroom while walking your client to the door.. Once outside you thank your client again for coming in to the dealership and sometimes conversation continues that'll lead to a closed deal.
Can't tell you how many times I've sold people cars when they are "just looking" and even avoided parking in a parking space.
Dave. Can you highlight the 2023 Colorado when you get one in?
Casual attire
Ed is a hoot
He is always good for a funny rant.. I have to see if he will keep showing up in videos
Dave can you make a video talking about GM allocations. I currently have a retail -sold order put into GM workbench since 5/16/22 for a 2023 Camaro. It hasn’t budged. Still sitting at 1100 status. However I also have another order put in for a 2023 acadia ordered same date. As of last Thursday it moved to 2000 status. A video describing this whole process would be great.
Lol shut up and wait you still got another 4 months on the Camaro
wow that blacked out trail boss is sweet. here in new england I got a prise of $48-52k what was that one priced at ?
What happen that was really cool in NJ last week? Didn’t make final edit 🤣
Yea, totally forgot to film that... NJ re-introduced an EV car incentive. NJ residents get $4,000 off on the purchase/lease of a Bolt EV or Bolt EUV while the 35,000,000 lasts.
I stopped at a local Ford dealer the other day. They were putting a $3,000 mark up on their new vehicles--the Shelby's had $12,000 mark ups! Outrageous!
Supply and demand if you want it you will pay for it
Shutup an pay it…
That charge door on the Blazer EV also isn’t really protected for those that live in winter climates and the car is exposed to snow and other elements when charging. It seems to be unnecessarily exposed for the sake of a cool factor.
Wow, that was a rather busy day for you!! Out of curiosity and being from UK, what exactly is Sirius xm Radio? Thanks Dave
it is Satellite radio subscription service
I have a 2022 Tesla Model X. And it has hands free start. Well Tesla has always had it. But your foot on the brake and the car is on. It turns off when you get out and the vehicle locks and turns off. Or as Tesla says the vehicle goes to sleep.....lol
Nice! I figured the Blazer would be the same. Once locked it turns off.
Hey Dave B. you stated that the new Blazer EV was equipped with the premium BREMBO brake package. Since EV's have "regenerative braking" which quickly slows down the vehicle, is the additional expense of the Brembo system really required ?!? It would seem to be an overkill option installed basically to enhance the appearance of the EV's profile. What is the price on sticker for that braking option ?!? BTW - during customer negotiations INSIDE the showroom you used the word "tense" when you should have used "contentious" as appropriate. Hope This Helps Yo ! 🤔 🔚 🔥
Hello Dave Rick from Massachusetts do you know when the traverse will be getting retrofitted for the heated and cool seats and the steering wheel too just wording if you heard a date yet
I haven't heard anything official from the dealership yet but did see someone post an email that went out saying parts are on the way (months ago GM said around August)
@@DaveBsellsChevy thank you
I enjoyed the format of you interviewing another sales person during the deal, a more civilized version of King of Cars…..
We were just talking about that "King of Cars" series today. I actually have season one on dvd
@@DaveBsellsChevy that is so cool, I didn’t realize it was out on dvd. You guys should try to re-enact an episode
Check it out.. Just checked for the hell of it and A&E RUclips channel has the whole series ruclips.net/p/PLcviVtB85dLz1DbaEULlJ1Cf-5WimOJva
The Blazer EV looks great, however when you said the starting price is $47K, that will keep me out of that vehicle. I'll keep driving my 2021 Equinox (much more afforadable).
"HOPEFULLY" it lasts till the note is PAID OFF ..... (that is what most folks seem to worry about ) !!!
👏👏
Great video as always. My 2 cents: I don't understand why engineers would design "hands free starting." How hard is it to push a button fercryinoutloud? If you can't push a simple button (let alone turn a key), then you will have a real hard time with a steering wheel, infotainment controls, seat & mirror adjustments, etc. Give me a break! This is technology that NOBODY needed. If you can't push a button, then don't drive a car!
I love the new Blazer EV (except for the air vents, those look pretty bad). But I am not sure I am ready to go EV yet and I can't really afford it. I am hoping to find a good deal on a low mileage Blazer in the next few months as the used car market crashes. I also really like the new Seeker Chevy announced, but unfortunately it is just for China.
Lmao your sadly mistaken if you think the used car market is gonna crash in months… this market is not looking any different for years to come.. but customers know best lmao
@@squadleader420 I'm not going to pretend to know exactly how it all plays out, but all signs are pointing towards prices going down. Average used car prices have fallen week over week since the beginning of the month, repo rates have had a sharp increase, and cars are selling for less at auction. At the same time interest rates are going up and we are in an official recession, so people will be less willing to spend money.
With those facts I definitely can't see the harm in waiting and watching. I know dealers would never tell you this, that would be like a real estate agent telling you in 2007 that the house you are buying will be worth much less in a year. The prices of vehicles have simply went up at an unstainable pace for the last 2 years and will have to come back down. I don't see the new car market changing too much because the manufacturers can limit production to keep the prices where they want them, but the used cars are already out there. There are auction yards full of them, the banks are just trying to trickle them out so they don't crash the market, but unless there is a major pivot they will eventually have to run across the auction block.
Either way, it's a chance I am willing to take. If prices stay elevated I just won't buy anything, if they come down I will.
I have never seen someone have glasses that split in the middle like that. Didn't even know that existed.
haha, neither did I until he got them
I was thinking the same thing…
Dealership markups will make the top trim level of the blazer more expensive than a Tesla Model Y. And it will have less range. Plus GM won’t be able to produce enough initially. Just look at the backlog for Tesla.
That’s funny. The gate. At that point of me leaving I’m like “ what are you following me?” I hate pushy people. I wouldn’t be back if they followed me outside. That’s just me. My tactic that I did twice before the pandemic and once during is I emailed multiple dealers. Picked the best one and talked over email. So much less stress. I get so pissed in the dealership. I was getting a new car every 2 years. I don’t go to that dealer anymore after like 4 cars. They were the ones that did the gate. lol
It all depends on how it's done. I'm probably the least pushy car salesman you'd ever meet yet I've pulled the "gate" off a number of times. Reason being, buyers are taught to "walk" to get a better deal. When negotiations are done and the dealer stands firm the buyer walks thinking it'll get them a better deal mean while they actually want the car. Now they are outside stalling because their pride won't let them walk back in... on the flip side the pride of the salesperson holds them back from chasing them, solves nothing. I will always take that last chance if I feel there is a deal to be had.
Fun Fact... I was told that the "Gate" was started back in the day by a dealer that actually had a manned "gate" to enter/exit the dealerships lot. The guy manning the gate was a friendly guy who would just talk to people as they were leaving... "How's it going folks.. How'd you make out today?" "oh no deal"... "Were you close"... "Who were you dealing with?" Jim! I know Jim... "Let me call Jim and see if I can get him to help you out".... next thing you know, car deal... (I have no idea if this is true, sort of a car dealership legend)
What are your thoughts on what GM is doing to the Z06 warranty?
I get what GM is trying to do to discourage people flipping the cars. Buyers shouldn't mind if they truly intend to keep the car since it won't affect them.
Of course your having fun trying to get the highest bid.
More of "Crazy Eddie Goldstein"!
👍
Blazer EV looks okay but going to wait to see what the Equinox EV has going. Is the dealership excited about the EV Federal incentives that might be coming back in 2023?
I'm thinking 2023 will be a good year for auto sales.. hopefully they can produce more inventory by then, plus new models coming out, plus people itching to buy new cars.
I want to know why Chevy stopped making compact cars like the Cruze. The Spark is too small and the Malibu is too big. I plan to go with either a Toyota or Hyundai on my next vehicle.
How many deals do get a week on average?
here is my opinion with EVs. when the infostructure can support or catch up with EVs only then i can consider it. now it is still a sort of a novality. that is also includes the ability to support fixing it as a used vehicle as well
Any opinion about the used car bubble popping?
Shouldn't really hurt us as we have been keeping our used inventory pretty lean as to not get stuck with a bunch of vehicles that were over paid for.
I don’t think normal is coming back for about couple years of ever. There is so much pent up demand that supply can not catchup to it
Hey Dave, question. How does ordering a car from the factory work? What do you have to put down? Is it refundable? How longs it take (Silverado)?
At my dealership we write up the deal and take a $1000 deposit. Our deposits are refundable if something changes for the client. Silverado would be relatively quick for these current times.. Maybe 2 to 3 months (depending on parts constraints)
@@DaveBsellsChevy thanks for the quick response! Always enjoy the vids. Just finished this one. What do you mean “if something changes”?
For example I have had clients wait so long for their order with me that they found a vehicle somewhere else so we just refund the deposit. I've also had a client order a vehicle and by the time it arrived the lease programs changed so much the payments were like $200 per month more so he canceled and we refunded his deposit.
@@DaveBsellsChevy oh so you don’t finalize a deal until it arrives…
@@super_tomtendo sale price is established at time of sale but incentives, lease programs, etc are all applied at the time the vehicle is at the dealership to be picked up by the buyer.
Will the Blazer compete directly with Ford Mustang Mach E?
yup, probably meant to
The hands free start worries me with kids. If my son climbs in the front to play around and I have the key fob with me while I’m buckling my daughter in the back seat. Would that be close enough for my son to start moving the vehicle.
Very very very good point! Parents will have to adjust to this for sure.
Teslas have always had no “on” or off” switch. You press the right stalk down (forward) or up(reverse) while having your foot on the brake. The Model S & X that are being produced now still has no on or off and it automatically knows whether you want to go forward or in reverse. You no longer have to push the stalk up or down.
Blazer EV cost: $47K. Cost to replace battery in Blazer EV: $47K. Includes new car with purchase.
Hey Dave, I know you like the Blazer (being a Chevy guy), but given the success (at least in terms of hype and customer buy in) of the Ford Bronco, I gotta ask: Can you see Chevy asking for a redo on their CUV “Blazer”?
The OG Blazer was an iconic vehicle. Two of my uncles drove one (1980s); one of them died in his (head on with a semi whose driver was asleep at the wheel), the other still has it as a bush vehicle for hunting trips.
The Blazer was such a game-changing vehicle, Ford moved from their Gen 1 Bronco (an International Scout rip off) to the Gen 2 direct Blazer rip-off (actually putting their F series front end on a Blazer body in the initial Gen 2 concept in 1978.)
Now Jeep (which I drive) still has the market largely cornered in the off roader, body-on-frame segment…. Which is why Ford’s Gen 5 Bronco ripped off the JL Wrangler (ah, Ford)….. But Chevy could have done SO much more with the Blazer. The market wants it. Everything that made the Blazer great is gone with this CUV name-sharing descendent. So: Would YOU like to see a real honest-to-God, Body on Frame, rip the top off and cruise successor to the OG Blazer?
I was a kid in the 80's and remember seeing blazers around but they never stood out to me as a vehicle I would want. Even today I would just get another Wrangler if I wanted an Off-roading convertible.
May I ask what is the role of the guy who sits behind the desk in the office that you guys explain your deal to? Is he the sales manager or finance manager?
That is our sales manager and general manager. They work lease deals, approve the deals we bring them, among a bunch of other things.
@@DaveBsellsChevy super cool!! I’ve seen him a few times in a few of your videos briefly and was curious. G.M. of few words!! Love the content, keep it coming!!!

How much of a pain is to get a new Camaro convertible???? Waiting until next spring is the better choice?
I'd try to get one in the order bank as soon as you can. Camaro's have been very slow to be produced and they're days are numbered.

Wait, you forgot to tell us what happened in NJ that was good news
Yea, totally forgot to film that... NJ re-introduced an EV car incentive. NJ residents get $4,000 off on the purchase/lease of a Bolt EV or Bolt EUV while the 35,000,000 lasts.
The ranges suck on electric vehicles, and in the cold winter temps, even shorter range.
I don’t understand why any electric car would have to be turned on. In a Tesla, you put in drive and go. When you stop, you put it in park and get out. The legacy car makers think that people need an “on” button. It takes 5 minutes to get used to not having an on button because it’s much simpler. The same with one pedal driving. I don’t need paddle shifters. Just give me a good level of regen braking with a full stop. One pedal driving takes about 10 minutes to get used to. Tesla has made it all so simple and the legacy car makers are just making it more complicated.
Absolutely they are so scared they are going to offend someone by not having things cars have always had, just make it simple, no need to over complicate things especially with a fingerprint reader to start cars and all that stuff, the more things get complicated that is what is going to turn more people off to electric cars
Is your new car another ev?
Why work there if there is little inventory to sell?? Dealers are headed the way if the rotary phone.
I have a pretty loyal 17 year customer base
You never said what happened in NJ last week.
Yea, forgot to film it.. NJ re-introduced their EV rebate which on the Bolt is $4,000
There's a lot of problems with electric cars and this government is moving very quickly to outlaw gas combustion engines.
You don't have a lot of mechanics that are trained to fix these cars also if they need a battery it's a lot of money.
I would consider an EV but my concern is battery life and replacement cost.
battery is warrantied 8 years/100,000 miles.

Not at our store. Salesperson closes 98% of out own deals.. but we are a smaller store. Bigger highway stores do have that process of sales, closer, manager

@@DaveBsellsChevy @Dave B sells Chevy Thank you for sharing this. I did find it very informative. Was not aware that there were so many obscure or brand names that were falling in those mileage parameters.
The bubble has bursted. Dealerships better start selling cars at the proper price or Half of all dealerships will be going out of business.
If anyone is considering an EV, all should be aware of the limitations no one talks about regarding the power supply side of things. The government, and now OEMs are foolishly over-pushing selling EVs while the government is forcing expedited power plant closures without any grid supply replacement plans. In short, unless 300-400 nuclear plants do not begin construction within just the next few years, if you buy an EV good luck being able to charge it or find infrastructure to support it. Without grid supporting power, your EV will end up either a super expensive to operate vehicle compared to ICE, or become a garage paper weight.
FUD personified
Scotty kilmer and the car wizard says that equinoxes are crap
Very true car wizard lists it as a vehicle to run away from fast service wise, but unfortunately people think their cars will be new forever or think they will trade them in within 2-3 years and then life happens and they are left out of warranty with numerous repairs
Can you order me a C8 Z06
No. We may only get one or two and there are people lined up for them
I can not wait until all the automakers go the route of Tesla style sales (internet with delivery), no more show rooms, no shady dealerships, no dishonest greasy sales people and no more overcharging (gouging) the consumer! I have had enough already! I come from the automotive industry, I owned a company that supplied Tier 1 & 2 suppliers to all auto manufacturers for over 30 years. The time has come...Good bye dealership franchises!
Dealerships are an asset in communities; especially smaller communities where dealerships are the major business in town. The Tesla method may be okay, but what about service? Beside sales, dealer service and parts departments are important not only for the customer but for the shops that can get parts and information only from the manufacturer.
@@apolloniaaskew9487 Well for service and parts there will obviously be many dealerships left after the other 50% close, maybe they will be called Authorized Service Centers...and make there revenue that way. Or, alternatively or additionally the dealerships that are left will get a fee from the manufacturers for "in dealership" pick ups for orders placed online from consumers?
When dealers are gone you and I will all pay more than ever before for vehicles... a book on negotiating is about 20 bucks and would have been the better way to go rather than hope an entire industry of careers is destroyed.
@@DaveBsellsChevy I don't need a phony book on negotiating, I have purchased over 40 new vehicles (cars, suv's and trucks) for myself and the companies I have owned in America and Europe (some on the X plans and other industry wide supplier and employee discount plans). If the auto industry does not change then we all pay more with terrible consequences. We don't need the "middle man" to gouge the consumer, let them be the Service & Parts Centers as well as the "Customer New Vehicle Pick Up Center" in the future. Now with all that said, I think your honest and a great salesman and you have your point of view and I have mine...
Right, we will just be gouged by the manufacturers instead. Better to learn to negotiate with a dealership to get a better deal in a competitive market place. Plus those negotiating skills can be used in pretty much every facet of life. You have to admit that prior to our current situation pretty much every car deal was discounted. Those days will be gone. In-fact they are already gone. The new Chevy Bolt's MSRP, Supplier, and Employee price are all the same.
We can hide behind the limited inventory masking the lowering vehicle demand based on this current recession, but for how long? I know you are well positioned to answer this question honestly free of a political narrative swing Dave. Love your videos!

what's the SS blazer going to go for
It’s going for the junkyard
SS starts at $65,995
Looks like a dead empty mall in there
I’m sorry but I won’t hold back that I hate the new Blazer EV. I was already upset with Chevy when they brought back the Blazer as a soccer mom, NPC Karen crossover but now they’ve made it even more worse with the electric version. I also saw the new 2023 Colorado reveal and am also upset with how that turned out. Looks too much like a Tacoma or Ranger Raptor and the grille is hideous. I’m starting to loose hope in Chevy as the years go on. The only decent looking vehicles by them are the Tahoe/Suburban, Silverado and maybe the Equinox. Just thought I’d share my thoughts aloud, sorry lol
No reason to apologize. Everyone is entitled to their opinion
Wake me up when I can refuel an EV in 5 minutes and drive it for 500 miles.
Otherwise, great video

If i can afford I'd buy electric vehicle
E v in reality burn coal
I don’t understand having 4 sold signs in one vehicle. But maybe that’s the sign of the times, I don’t know. With the limited range,of these EV’s I think once has comes back down to $2.00/gallon these EV’s will become large paper weights. There’s plenty of oil and this climate change hysteria is none sense. My first new car was a 1970 Dodge Charger with the alarming MSRP of $3800.00 . Times sure are different. Buying a vehicle in a new car showroom is stressful, but it shouldn’t be. The customer wants the lowest price possible and the dealer wants the highest price possible. Today I can only imagine how much over MSRP these cars are. I do enjoy the videos.
Can’t legislate technology.
50 Grand for a base model? Nahh
Poor boy.... I'd be pissed if my Dad bought me a Chevy Trax. Call me ungrateful, but you'd never get laid in that trim wagon.
Merc for Chevy? Interesting 🤔
Blazer EV.... great looking and already too expensive....
Realistically, heard all this before from GM -- reinventing the car experience -- then junkers and they won't back the product up. On the other hand, my Toyota Avalon 133k -- 6 years old --- front rack went out. Service writer comes back says $1700 -- but Wait ! --- Toyota knows about the problem and they will fully pay for the repairs....133K ON IT....GM/Chev get close to that kind of car experience !!! -- Never gonna happen !!!
I am just curious is white the most popular color that the majority of people want? I can't stand white vehicles. I like color. Just my preference but I feel like I'm in the minority.
