Lightning Mcqueen is famous for "KACHOW!" but the car he's based upon seems to earn less attention, at least here in the Philippines. While the likes of the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, and Dodge Challenger gained widespread popularity, there is one car that sits above all of those. An American car that serves a very niche market and is less of a muscle car (but still has the muscle) more of a proper sports car exists too. Our feature today is on this well preserved track oriented version of the Chevrolet Corvette C6: The Grand Sport model.

C6 is the greatest looking vettes of all times. It has a beautiful classic look to it.
I love the look too
I completely agree. I own a 2013 60th Anniversary Grand Sport and love the car..
I've owned a lot of Corvettes. The C-6 was shorter but had a longer wheelbase than the C-5. Add the wider body found in the Grandsport makes it my favorite Corvette. Plus it's reliable and easy to work on and old enough that it's probably going to go up in value. Great weekender.
Agree :D
He said in the video the c6 doesn't shift gears that fast, how do you fix this? Do you change the gears? Which cost how much?
People told me I was crazy, but I traded my 2014 Stingray for a 2012 GS... Couldn't be happier. Oh - And GREAT job, Kyle!
Thanks
get a manual@@mikehogan5087
This is weirdly one of my fave gen of the corvette
After the C3, this is my next favourite
One of the prettiest for sure!
I love the C6 CORVETTE GRANDSPORT, I'm an Owner ! Very nice Review dude
Thanks and congrats on your ownership of one :)
One of the reviews I've been waiting for! 👀😍
:)
so fun watching everyone looking at the vette as you drive around. must not be to common there lol!
Not at all haha! Extremely rare
Corvette has had the best looking for all-American sports cars. The 1964 corvette stingray is a looker, a personal favorite, I hope they start converting them to EV for future's sake. Compliments of the season.
My personal favourite is the C3 Corvette :D
I hope they don’t.
I’ve had 3 C6, std, Grand Sport and a Z06. Very well put together vehicles in my experience. Love em!
Love them too
The numbers come first in the trim levels, not the “L”. That looks to be a 1LT or 2LT. No HUD means it a lower trim level.
Kyle
Donde conseguiste la cubierta trasera de los asientos en fibra con el logotipo??
Not sure with the owner
Dumb question... but did both 2013 AND 2012 models come with the "60" badging? I know 2012 had that all black, red rims centennial edittion. And 2013 had the white GS and Z06 with silver stripes. Wondering if both '12 and '13 shared that logo.
Good question. I have a 2013 it has the 60 year attachments.
@@andrewvavuris8789 nice... My first choice would have been a 2013... but found a great 2011 GS!
Why is your battery mounted in the Front of the car? Beautiful GS! Have you ever tried the Manual Transmission? It’s a blast. Mine is a 2011.
The automatic versions are not dry sump and the battery is under the hood, on the manual models the dry sump oil tank is under the hood where the battery belongs and the battery is relocated to the trunk
Haven't tried the manual one, unfortunately
@@The98deville *except* in the convertible, manual GS version. No dry-sump in them and the battery is still upfront.
I own a sliver 2011 grand sport convertible 27000 Miles. Love this car!!
😍😍😍
I have the 2010 GS with a stick. That’s a sports car ! Auto just isn’t the same feel.
I really wanna try it with a stick
Fastest cars are automatic 🤷🏽♂️
@@ricardotriana1197not a decade ago.
The c6 manual Vettes had launch control starting in 2010.
Great review! Someone in my neighborhood is selling his and offered it to me. Only issue is it has 180k miles... Not sure if I should pull the trigger or not
All about proper maintenance. High or low mileage without proper maintenance is always a no-no
Try to get a copy of its service records
@@KyleLiongCars Sounds good, I'll go ahead and ask this weekend. Appreciate the quick response!
My pleasure! Good luck :)
Pay no more then 10k
LT4 is the trim that gets the dash covered in leather.
Ooh thanks
i thought the batteries were relocated to the back in GS trims?
Maybe for manual versions?
a good first car? found one for 37,000$ and 30,000 miles. how much would insurance and stuff be?
Try NCM Insurance if you have another daily driver... or else they will not ensure it. If you do... can't go wrong with them!
Haha I get the Ka-chow reference at the beginning 😂
Hehe
Yun oh nice❤💯😊
Thanks
The c6 Z06/Zr1is more so the natural R35 Gtr competitors, especially on track.
Please Review the BMW X1 Base Variant.
Hope BMW sends me one haha
Comparison to the GTR/6 is more appropriate with the Z06, and not the touring Grand Sport.
Manuel has the battery in the back.
Only the coupe version, the GS convertible doesn't have the dry sump .... battery is still under the hood.
@@danielfair4675 yes true fact
Weirdest push start has to go to 2011-ish era dodge vehicles. If you’ve ever been in a “push-start” one from that time period, you know what I mean😂
Please do a review on chevrolet trax. Thanks
@Chevrolet PH send me one plz
Nice review but this must be a 2013 model year since the 60th anniversary edition was in year 2013
Also 0-60 is about 4 seconds (you said 0-100). You’re correct Those seats were changed and improved for the 2012 model year. They’re not necessarily from the Z06, those were standard in GS.
The V8 sound is coming from that Borla exhaust which is an aftermarket system. Also this has a K&N aftermarket air intake which you didn’t mention
Thanks. The importation and paperwork blurred the lines for it being a 2012 or 2013 model here haha! 0-100kph. We use Km here.
typical american, there’s more measuring units than just mph buddy
@@CristianGonzalez-zq6oc I guess you couldn’t see it was constructive criticism.
@@stephendibari5010 He did and even thanked you. He just corrected you where your commentary was incorrect and provided justification.
@@ScottO84 Geeze are you the RUclips police. No one can take constructive criticism
When comparing to gt3, one must also compare price.
Yes of course
Thew reason they are comfier and softer in suspension is because they were built in detroit. The roads in Michgian are awful.
Oooh
I’m looking at this car right now has 60 k miles should run away it’s convertible asking 38 k it’s 2012 8 owners
8 owners. Ok now before you freak out, every dealer who “owned” this car is listed as an “owner” on the CARFAX report. So it might be half that amount. Check out that CarFax carefully and check out the car carefully before making judgement. Price is a bit steep for one with 60,000 miles. RUN AWAY if its an automatic!!!
that's a 2013 Vette. 60th year. my bad, somebody just swapped out the badge. wonder what else was done. wow that car was hacked up. it's a 1lt interior but someone put faux leather on the dash.
Probably oddly specced given that it's an import haha
Lightning McQueen was a Subaru BRZ
Huhhhhhh
Corvette Corvette 😎
😂😂
Manual's were hand built engines with dry sump systems
Except in the manual convertible GS, they're not dry-sump.
Right hand dome light is on.
Ohh and dont forget them leaf springs lol
right right haha
I feel like this guy hates American cars 😂
Depends hahaha
Hope you'd get a chance to review the 2019 kia sorento ex awd tnx :>
We’ll see :)
@@KyleLiongCars thank uuuu
ruby
What
Damn. Your cinenatic is very very mean.
Thanks
Get the manual one, ls3 with t56 gearbox man seats will really hug you while going 0-100. Driving an auto makes you look like a warvet driving a vette lol
Hahaha I’m into old land yachts so I’m already used to looking like a senior! 😂😂😂
0-100 in 4 seconds?.🤨
Yeah
not made of fiberglass, plastic
It is??????????
@@KyleLiongCars Most of the body is fiberglass. But that rear cap you were pushing is some type of plastic or polyurethane.
Ohhhh I see. Thanks for that
It's technically SMC, which is sort of a hybrid plastic with fiber content within.
Your avatar's arms are bigger than your waste
What
Buying this car with a slushbox is like taking a bath w/o the water. Why bother? You are neutering the car and removing all the fun. I’m being dead serious when I say take a pass on this Vette if you don’t get the wonderful 6 speed manual transmission. It’s got a very nice throw straight from the factory. The ratios are nicely spaced. The clutch is surprisingly light and the car is a hoot to drive. I have this exact color C6 in convertible form with a 6 speed manual transmission…of course. I have never driven the automatic and don’t need to. Now if it came with a nice dual clutch automatic then I might be curious to try that, but it doesn’t. Just a slow shifting torque converter box that is for folks who should be in a Buick or a Lexus sedan just cruising down the road. Nothing wrong with that at all.
I get you. Want to try out the manual of this as well
So the manual c6 vette shifts faster than the automatic? Lol
It's 0 to 60 in about 4 seconds not 0 to 100
Uhhh not the whole world uses the Imperial system 🤭🤭
@@KyleLiongCars well they should if they're talkin about an American made car. Gallons, inches, SAE tools. You know, American made stuff. At least State both measurements like miles per hour kilometers per hour so there's no confusion, good clear communication.
@@johngraham212 Not really?
I think it's pretty safe to say it's Metric unless otherwise stated..... Literally 90-95% of the world uses Metric. American cars are also exported too so like it's already a given that they will reach elsewhere :D
@@KyleLiongCars Yup, you are 100% correct 90-95% of the world uses Metric and I would use the correct terms for those country's when describing. Just say the car goes 0 to 100 Kilometers and hour in 4 seconds.
Cheers,
This dude hates American cars.
