Wow, Thanks so much. I just bought a 2012 C6 "Carbon Flash Metallic" GS with 4K miles. It is the Centennial edition at 44K. You made me feel comfortable with my purchase. And as you probably know, You dont need a Corvette to look cool but it doesn't hurt

I was looking in my Corvette Black Book and I don't see that color listed as an option. Only two reds available, Torch or Crystal. Just fyi either looks awesome. My 2011 GS is Crystal Red beautiful color. But I've had a Torch Red C5 too that was beautiful. Have fun either way:)
Have owned a black 2005 Jaguar XKR coupe for 10 years, and just added a Crystal Red 2008 Corvette coupe. The XKR is a sophisticated and stunningly beautiful brunette with an English accent, a strapless black cocktail dress, pearl necklace, and high heels, while the Vette is an athletic, barefooted, strawberry blonde from the US heartland, wearing cut-off jeans, a wet T-shirt, and legs that go all the way up. Great video. I was clueless on these cars and your video helped me make a decision. Oddly enough the one I purchased locally was the best one. Coupe and 6 speed. Thanks again
Thanks for making a Grand Sport focused buyer's guide. I am buying my fiancee's dad a C6 GS, and I feel like when you're in the market for a Grand Sport in particular, there is enough more stuff to need to know specific to the line and other videos weren't digging into it other than "you should really get a Grand Sport if you're getting a later C6". I have a phone call with a seller in about a half hour and now I have a couple extra things to ask before I make the 2 and a half hour trip out to see his 2012 GS 3LT.
Good information sir. I’m just starting my search. Love supersonic blue and Inferno orange like yours. You car is really sharp with the spider wheels. Thanks for the video.
They were made for 4 years, 2010, 11, 12 and 13. Not just three years, all LS3 are hand built and coupe manual cars are intended for track use due to the G forces from turning hard to keep oiling the motor continuously even
Im here 3 years later cause im looming at 2011 grand sport convertible, not really liked a convertible but its a really good price ans want to supercharge it
Nice job explaining about the C6 grand sport and I have a 2005 Corvette z51 black with cashmere interior and automatic would not mind finding a black C6 grand sport with cashmere interior and performance package
While the oil system is true for the manuals. I spoke with GM head quarters and they said their 2010-2013 motors are built in the same way. The manuals engines are not hand built like a Nissan GTRs or an AMG Mercedes Benz is. The final installation of the actual engine is more hands on because of the oil system, but not an actual hand built engine. I own the manual and thought the same thing. As far buying a GS C6 which happens to be an awesome car with an amazing rear stance. The most important thing is getting the color you like and forget about the fully loaded ones. its just more stuff to break. The base model with a few little extras here there is just right, in fact the stock radio on the base Grand Sport sounds better than the Bose. The selective ride, will give you so many problems down the road. Definitely avoid that, been there done that. The Base suspension on the GS is awesome. Inferno orange is a great color. Cant go wrong with Red, Yellow and even metallic blues sell well. Avoid silver corvettes as they are the hardest to sell.
Nice video that I find easy to watch and very informative. I do need to correct you on something: 1LT package includes the basic features 2LT adds adj lumbar and side bolster seats, bluetooth, steering wheel controls 3LT adds heated seats, HUD and Bose Two issues not mentioned are the gas tank issue and the active handling issue. Both of these don't seem to be widely rampant but there are plenty of folks that have reported issues.
Use Techron additive to help prevent the gas tank issue. Try to keep the fuel tank above the 1/2 mark. Inexpensive techniques versus dropping the gas tank.
There is a headlight recall on c6s, you can take to a dealer and get it fixed i bought my 2011 gs 2 years ago and had that problem headlights would turn of after like 10min of being on. Im assuming previous owner never used it at night.
Do the dry sump Grand Sports have different oil capacity by model year? The C6Z did. Good video and filled with facts rather than the usual blah. Thanks.
Really liked your vlog. You certainly did your homework on the c6 GS. I was wondering. What are the valve issues on the C6 zo6 models? I’m currently own a c7 GS and love it. However I’m looking to purchase a c6 zo6. I’ve never heard about any valve issues on the 427. I’ve looked over many vlogs . Can you please link some info about this problem. It would be greatly appreciated.
Here's an article about it, but feel free to search "valve issue c6 z06" on Google for tons of results. www.liveabout.com/ls7-engine-problems-and-wiggle-test-916184
What's the real world city/highway mpg for a C6 Grand Sport? I was initially looking at a base C6 Corvette but then I saw the widebody Grand Sport and really liked it. I know you don't buy a Corvette for fuel economy but it would be an added benefit on long road trips. Does the Grand Sport get worse fuel economy than a base C6? I'm assuming the bigger tires, gearing and wider fenders decrease fuel economy but how much less should I expect too get vs the base.
Honestly since this car was modified, it is hard to say what the MPGs were. I averaged around 15 city and mid 20's highway. GM rates it at 16/25 but I've heard reports of upper 20s on the highway if cruising in 6th gear at a reasonable speed.
I currently have a 2018 bmw m240i. It has basic bolt on and should make about high 400’s to the wheels. It’s a super nice car but it’s so disconnected to the road and the perception of speed isn’t there. I’m heavily considering getting into a late generation manual LS3 C6. I have yet to drive one, but I’m in love with the looks and very familiar with the ls3 in general. Any thoughts or inputs?
Looking at getting my first, settled on a GS, and found a nice black one, 2011 manual, but the mileage is a bit high, almost 90k. Anything I need to watch out for, or would it still be a good option (L3 around $30k)?
I have owned 4 Corvettes. 2008 Zo6 H/C/I 590whp fun car but huge money pit not cars fault shops I took it to. A 2010 C6 Grand Sport 1LT exhaust only auto car. Hello, I am looking for your help, I have a 2010 grand sport corvette with automatic transmission, I intend to buy a crown and pinion for my corvette but I can't find it, because it seems that they no longer make them, in my car I have a differential with 2.73 I would like to be able to Give it a 3.73 or a 3.90 so that it has a better response in the 1/4 mile, can you help me with the information, which one I could use and where I can buy it, I will greatly appreciate it.
Also, the ZO6 has an aluminum chassis whereas the Grandsport is steel chassis and the ZO6 has carbon fiber fenders and i think bumper whereas the Grandsport is a mix of fiberglass and something else. Great vid, didnt know that autos didnt come with dry sump oil
@@FocusedGarage Mine is a 2011 six-speed coupe with the hand built engine. Has most everything else including the dealer installed full width spoiler, competition gray aluminum wheels, and the GS Heritage Package (two-tone leather seats, logo seat headrest embroidery, and fender stripe hash mark). Love my Grand Sport.
@@FocusedGarage yes, only the manual transmission, with dry sump. They are built stronger cause usually those car are the ones to be track. Engine oil cooler etc. If you search at GM parts the crank shafts are different part numbers, pistons and rods are the same except for the crank.
The magnetic ride is nice, but prone to leaking and the shocks are expensive at over $1000 a piece. If you are concerned about having the best suspension, just buy a non-mag ride car and swap it to coilovers.
@@FocusedGarage my 2011 C6 GS has the mag ride shocks. I bought the car new in 2010 and I've had no problems at all with the shocks. In fact, the only things I've had to replace was the tires (the factory alignment eats up the inside of the tires), speed sensor (replaced under warranty), fan switch for radiator cooling. That's about all that was needed in the 10 years of ownership.
@@s2kimport I have about 29k on it now. I've driven it on cross country trips from Houston to Bowling Green, KY, St. Louis, Mississippi, etc. It's a great highway vehicle. Trying to keep it out of the triple digits was the biggest problem.

Thanks for the info and checking out the video!
Nice video that I find easy to watch and very informative. I do need to correct you on something:
1LT package includes the basic features
2LT adds adj lumbar and side bolster seats, bluetooth, steering wheel controls
3LT adds heated seats, HUD and Bose
Two issues not mentioned are the gas tank issue and the active handling issue. Both of these don't seem to be widely rampant but there are plenty of folks that have reported issues.
Thank you for clearing that up there and adding it to the video!
I’d like more info on the Active handling issue.
Use Techron additive to help prevent the gas tank issue. Try to keep the fuel tank above the 1/2 mark. Inexpensive techniques versus dropping the gas tank.
Awesome info. Thank you
Great presentation, I have a 2013, 60th anniversary and I love it, what do you recommend for more torque and power
Depends on how involved you want to get, but a intake, tune, and exhaust is a great starting point!
Yes sir you didn't say anything about 60th anniversary 4LT The white with the anniversary Stripes😁👍 This is Corvette might enjoy your RUclips channel
Forgot to mention that special one! Whoops. Haha. Thanks for checking out the video.
There is a headlight recall on c6s, you can take to a dealer and get it fixed i bought my 2011 gs 2 years ago and had that problem headlights would turn of after like 10min of being on. Im assuming previous owner never used it at night.
I've actually heard on some cars it can even start a fire in the wiring.
Thank you for the informative video I'm in the market myself!
Same
Glad it was helpful! Let us know if you've got any questions.
Do the dry sump Grand Sports have different oil capacity by model year? The C6Z did. Good video and filled with facts rather than the usual blah. Thanks.
The early Z06 have a smaller dry sump capacity, I think 8.5qt. The Grand Sport has the same 10.5qt capacity of the later Z06/ZR1.
@@FocusedGarage That is what I thought. Thanks.
No problem! Another benefit of the Grand Sport being a later model year production.

Thanks for the video! Currently in the market for one
No problem! Happy to help!
Nice review! About to purchase a 2012 GS!
Great choice!
Very in informative
Thanks 👍
Happy to help!
Great video. A z06 would be nice too
I definitely can make a Z06 specific video as well!
I know you made that video a while ago, but I’m looking at a transport. I’m in Illinois. Do you still have yours?
Great video dude
Great review!
very informative
Great video!
Thumbs up for a C6 Z06 video... I am flipping coins between the 2 ...
Video is coming in one or two weeks!
Me too. I’m thinking Z06 because I won’t be daily driving it, and the prices these days are basically the same.
Also the dual-roof option.
Any thoughts or inputs?
those b58s are crazy but a vette is a much more raw driving experience without all that new technology
Cool car one owner car I should have kept it got it for $25k with 24k miles pre Covid then a 2014 C7 Stingray 1LT I ended up with an A&A blower kit 620 whp fun car til I put it in wall at dragstrip driver error forgot to tune my traction control back on just stupid on my part but it is what it is. By God's grace it sold as is paid off wife's Tacoma. So now I went back to C6 2012 Grand Sport coupe 4LT crystal red auto car bone stock for now but prior owner spent some money on cosmetics Morimoto C7 style headlights n LED rears carbon fiber accents on the door seals n under hood. After market Pioneer deck back up camera car has magnetic ride NPP exhaust and I have ARH headers catless X pipe ordered with. Haltech intake. Maybe do a cam later on but my racing days are done this is a cruiser. I enjoyed your video good information. I prefer the C6 over the C7 but it's all personal preference
But one question which c6 year generation made with many mechanical and electronics issues to stay away from?
Most people tend to stay away from the first mode years of that gen, 2005.
Is there a Fixed Roof option for the C6 Grand Sport? I was just wondering if the removable target top and convertible were the only roof options.
The Grand Sport only comes as a Removable Targa Top or as a convertible. There are no Fixed Roof Coupe C6's.
@@FocusedGarage Copy and thanks.
Dude you know your stuff!
Thank you
You're welcome!
I'd definitely recommend checking with some performance shops that specialize in LS tuning. They should be able to point you in the right direction!
Nice job.
Thank you!
Hey, I saw someone mention in another video that the Grand Sport has a steel frame?
Correct. GS has steel frame, Z06 and ZR1 have aluminum.
You might want to mention the Heritage package option as well.
Thanks for the mention!
Exactly! We just made a Z06 vs GS video and we cover that difference in it. Thanks for the comment.
How is the open air experience in the coupe with the top off? Is it good enough or should I go for the vert?
For me it was the perfect blend!
I didn’t hear you talk about the Heritage Package. Did I miss that?
Sorry, I did not cover the heritage package or fender stripes in the video.
Sounds like it's got all the boxes checked! Nice sounding ride.
I'm not shifting gears all day care are to be driven , not a work out
I’m looking at 2012 centennial 100th anniversary grand sport 75k miles asking for $26k usd its automatic is it a good deal or no?
Grab it. That’s a terrific deal!!
Thanks
What about the Z16 package?
Z16 is actually the RPO code for C6 Grand Sports.
I also have a 2011 corvette grand sport with 24k miles on it !
Enjoy it!
@@FocusedGarage thank you I am enjoy it alotttt very good car !
Also you get a forged crank shaft only with manual transmission.
Really? That is new news to me.
@@FocusedGarage yes, only the manual transmission, with dry sump.
They are built stronger cause usually those car are the ones to be track.
Engine oil cooler etc.
If you search at GM parts the crank shafts are different part numbers, pistons and rods are the same except for the crank.
@@arnaldoserrano2289 The GS also has different gearing and a differential cooler
@@Morris1974 yes it does
Yes, I left out the differential cooler because I wasn't sure if that was just on dry sump models or all GS.
What’s a z16 grand sport ?
All Grand Sports are Z16. That is just the option code for them.
If you think a GS needs more power, turn all driver aids off and it will give you a different driving experience.
Feels great that way!
Does grandsport have t56 or tr6060?
TR6060 in all manual Grand Sports. All 08+ Z06 have the same TR6060 as well.
is the magnetic ride important to have? also, is the magnetic ride reliable on the c6?
That's great!
@@Morris1974 how many miles do you have now?
@@s2kimport I have about 29k on it now. I've driven it on cross country trips from Houston to Bowling Green, KY, St. Louis, Mississippi, etc. It's a great highway vehicle. Trying to keep it out of the triple digits was the biggest problem.
Subbed due to this video. :)
Thanks for the sub!
