I’ll tell you, the SpongeBob wiki sure cleared up on the amount of references they put in this episode. Also yeah, that literally was the most contrived way to get Squidward to forcefully get SpongeBobs memories back.
the last scene with the huge contraption was actually from a newer (good) episode where spongebob and patrick think they cant die cuz the have life insurance

its a surprisingly good episode, and squidward wasn't hurt by other. its by his recklessness (and spongebob and patrick shaking the ladder)
I love how he calls himself a SpongeBoomer.
2/3rds of the episode in, they ran out of time to show you the plot visually, so mister krabs has to basically tell you the plot instead. incredible writing there, nick. isnt "show dont tell" one of the cornerstones of good writing?

Basically ignore everything I said about the "new" memories with the car chase and obstacle course since those were actually real references to older episodes that I did not get

why is spongebob the only one who knows the combination to the safe. and arent there literally episodes where mr krabs opens the safe himself.
If this was a good episode they'd actually use the rare tender scenes between Spongebob and Squidward, not torture scenes.
well yeah like when Squidward threw pizza in that fish' face because that fish made Sponge Bob cry (this is my favorite ep for whole these years oh gosh)
The only reason this episode exists is to try to get older fans to watch it for the references and #freeSquidward
i think Squidward tried redoing the scenes that just happened because normally when people get amnesia recent shorter memories might possibly come back the easiest

this episode gets a 4/10 i don't think it's as bad as the episodes with the Narwhal Girl (i don't care to remember her name at all) but i still think this one is bad they could've done so much better with this episode honestly if they wanted to do a Friendiversary episode why not do SpongeBob and Patrick's friendiversary?

Obviously this episode is terrible, but pre-finished with the episode, I admittedly got excited from the season 4, 5, and 8 references. It kind of reminded me that in those episodes they were actual characters. Oh damn, the last 4 minutes were about to be decent, but they ruined it when Mr. Krabs came in. So basically Best Frenemies (4), Pest of the West (5), and Smoothe Jazz at Bikini Bottom (8) were funnier and had much better stories.
The only reason i kinda like this episode it's because it has Squidward.
I really felt sorry for him. It wasn't funny that he was terrified, it was sad. We can't blame him for erasing SpongeBob's memories of him.
Also i agree the reason Mr Krabs said was stupid.
Also the fact they bring sushi maker was unnecessary, it doesn't make any sense that SpongeBob remembered him by this.
They could use any other episode for that, like a heartwarming moment they had together like in band geeks or dying for pie or pizza delivery or Christmas who, even hello bikini bottom or tiki land or any other good moment they had together, even when he supported him in front of king neptune in 3 movie.

@@awespongebob true, but stories that imply that a character is better off being subjected to someone else when that person was set up as misbehaving and toxic always angers me a lot. This one at least acknowledges it’s messed up and unfair, they just don’t do anything to solve it or make it entertaining.

I really prefer SpongeBob with erased memories in new seasons. At east he's not a psycho stalker. Still horrible episode imo
Sad that they didn't use positive remarks as well for the "go remember" part. That would have been very cool. But the writers probably have the mindset of pain=funny. It's quite a disappointment to me

5:50 in Swimming Fools Squidward's torture didn't happen for no reason, it was justified except for in the beginning when he gets dirt in his mouth, and then the ending where he's plummeting with the diving board. Other than those two, Squidward brought it all on himself.

Worst is probably Sponge Haters Club and best is probably Patrick The Mailman. I haven’t watched the whole season tho
@@awespongebob Oh ok. My least favorite of the season is probably Dopey Dick cause it is really boring and dragged out (due to it being one of those longer episodes). The best is probably Arbor Day Disarray since it had probably the best jokes in the entire season and the ending was actually pretty heartwarming.
I gotta watch those two to know if I agree, think I got about a third of the season left to watch
