Sure Season 9 is tame and humorless, but I prefer that OVER Season 12 and 13, which provide childish jokes and overused expressive animation. Season 12 is one of the best seasons ever, seriously its so good, sure, the nitwitting is rancid, but it has spongebobs birthday blowout, dream hoppers, and a bunch of other amazing episodes, i just feel the only bad one is the nitwitting.
Seasons 10-14, Kamp Koral and Patrick Star Show actually made me nostalgic for Seasons 6-8. Despite their major missteps I think their gems should not go unnoticed especially Seasons 7 and 8 which I think were improvements over 6.
Honestly S1-12 are all memorable. S13 & 14 are such a blur. Ever since the addition of the spinoffs and the characters appearances in the main series, it just feels really off and very forgettable.
the main issue with modern spongebob is that the show can be easily done without the main characters and underwater setting. It's so generic that if the show was done with humans it wouldn't change too much.
I really hate how modern Spongebob just doesn't really care that its supposed to be undewater anymore. Too many scenes of underwater waterfalls, fires, and lightning as if they are on land. While earlier seasons did keep it mostly consistently underwater an nautical. In episodes like Pressure, the episode is about being fish underwater vs a mammal.
I gotta say this too - Spongebob fans were delusional thinking that Stephen Hillenburg automatically returning would make the show good again. He originally wanted to retire before they dragged him back to the studio because fans couldn't realize that the golden years were behind them and that he wanted to move on from Spongebob.

I Gotta say it. Just because Hillenburg came back, DOESN’T mean the show got great all of a sudden. The writers were already headed in a different direction with the show, and yes while there are some improvements on the show morally, that by no means, implies a renaissance era. Good video, i enjoyed this collaboration and hearing your points about the modern episodes, my thoughts of Seasons 9-11 (yes, also 9A) remain positive and enjoyed them as much as Seasons 1-5, but I agree with some of the points mentioned, especially about The Fish Bowl and Bunny Hunt. I will wait for the part 2 about Seasons 12 and 13!
Season 4 in the first half was fine, especially when you consider it has Gary Come Home. But the later half of the season starts to really change the show, like having SpongeBob cry constantly
Something about the modern show's pacing just is off. There aren't any really quotable lines or scenes, and some episodes don't seem like they have any actual jokes in them. Its just a lot of slapstick and missing plot phases. Especially considering Spongebob's golden years were remembered for its dialogue, and interaction gags. There is no set up for any lines or consistent subtle gags.

I actually quite like season 9b and its animation style a good bit: its like a nice inbetween season 6-9a's stiff and on model animation and season 10-present's overly wacky slapstick & silly faces focus Season 9b just hits the perfect balance of both i feel
This episode with Spongebob who had to remember who he was has quite a strong message even for adults, in short, Spongebob pretended to be others for so long that he forgot his identity, it can be considered a story about a character who rejected his "I" and had to take a long time to remember this

Here’s something funny I noticed they always want to reference the old seasons the old Memes and stuff in the old characters but they want your things like Patrick’s real sister, or jokes that weren’t funny enough to reference. Seriously I’ll never understand why they replaced Patrick‘s sister with a squid girl because the problem with his actual sister was she was just a jerk, they should’ve tried to make her a better character instead of replacing her because it feels so weird that they’re replacing her with his character that’s not Patrick biological sister and the fact that they change parents again too is just like do you guys even care about continuity or do you just cherry and pick what you want to be Canon? Not to mention the movie for Camp Cole which literally goes against everything SpongeBob’s lore has said. I know the lore isn’t the biggest thing for SpongeBob but the little parts of continuity with how Sandy SpongeBob Patrick Squidward and Mr. Krabs meant is very important. And cam Coral completely throws it down the drain just to have the crappy spin off, not to mention the age between the characters makes no sense now for taking the lore of camp coral into account, because Mr. crabs looks like he’s still an old man in that show which would tell me he would be even older SpongeBob meant him as an adult. So already I don’t think the show is Cannon. Why do I bring these spinoff things up? because there are prime example of what’s wrong with the newer SpongeBob as a whole, they rewrite the lore and characters not to mention they try so hard to appeal to the older generation that watch the show by referencing stuff like my leg and of course ruining the joke without realizing the whole reason why worked in the first place was because it was a short little gag that went fast and got the point across. Not to mention they make characters like bubble bash a character nobody likes that guy and I don’t know why they try so hard to make people like him. Then they wanna introduce other characters from their spin off into the main show literally defeating their purpose of being a spin off. It’s like they want to be the original show but forget we made the original show good. The last thing I wanna complain about is the Reliance on the faces and the visuals instead of the jokes and the writing and the Comedy. They really seem to rely more on funny faces, referencing things, and not to mention the visuals. They think that’s what makes SpongeBob but actually that’s not how SpongeBob came to be such a beloved show it’s like they’re doing the complete opposite of what they think people like.
I agree a problem with modern spongebob, is that it does lack jokes because its plotlines are a bit too developed, so they have maybe a good run time but no actual jokes to remember them for. The plotlines need to be simpler so the jokes around the situation can do the talking for it. Spongebob doesn't need a deep plot or story. It needs humor in the dialogue.

Watching reviews of modern seasons of _SpongeBob SquarePants_ has shown me how far back I stopped watching the show. Most of the episodes mentioned in this video I've never heard of.
I think seasons 9B-13 are A LOT BETTER than seasons 6-9A, I like seasons 9B-13 but I hate seasons 6-9A. Of course saying 6-9A is worse is a bad excuse, but it's definitively not wrong, it's WAY BETTER. I like modern SpongeBob because I think the animation is great, the humor is good and the characters have improved, they're also very creative and some episode are very well written.
Amd honestly, I think The Fish Bowl is pretty decent and I only dislike one scene. I dislike 5 modern episodes but The Fish Bowl isn't one of them, it's fun and creative, and Patrick didn't annoy me at all, he just abuses of his power like he did in Rule of Dumb, which is another decent episode imo but worse than this one because it had some awkward scenes, and he figures this out at the end and feels bad... And the Squidward torture here is actually funny because of how absurd it is, the ending with Squidward waiting at the door and then running to get his ice cream is pretty funny.
Seasons 4-8 get a lot of trash that those seasons honestly don’t deserve. Sure they’re not as good as seasons 1-3, but they’re way better than seasons 10- only god knows how many seasons SpongeBob goes on for.
Ngl bro new SpongeBob ain’t that bad. Sure older episodes and season are miles better but I still get a good laugh at the newer ones, I actually really like season 13 and I see it as an improvement to 11 and 12
I'd take Mimic Madness is easily over that disgusting Face Freeze episode. I prefer Mimic Madness for one, the quality song in it and, second, it plays off off something we already know about Spongebob, that he can alter his shape and voice, like he did in the earlier seasons. Face Freeze is just gross out that isn't funny. Its pretty much the same type of episode as the one with the invisible spray paint, but that episode is actually funny from the old seasons and not gross.
Hooray another Face Freeze enjoyer! Modern Spongebob is boring because of how the humor is so obvious and the stories are extremely goofy and lack any depth behind them, no clever and witty dialogue, gutsy characterization, just quirky joke along wacky episode and that's it, even the Tibbit seasons attempted to treat the audience at times older with writing, but now the show is just solely aimed to be juvenile as opposed to widely spread out.
Yeah, I really don't understand why people like Modern Spongebob for this reason. I can appreciate the show trying to be more ambitious and the animation looking good but there are way too many issues with it. Horrible characterization, flimsy stories, trying so hard to be funny, no clever dialogue to be found and shameless nostalgia baiting. To me, jingling keys in front of a child's face is more entertaining than most of Modern Spongebob.

People have different opinions. There's only one opinion about this that's invalid: "Modern SpongeBob is better than pre-movie". That one is not true by any means. Like, I personally like most of the modern episodes, (and only half of them in later Season 11 and 12, and in Season 13 I can't even say I like half of them.), but I would never say modern SpongeBob is better than pre-movie, nor would I say it's on-par, because it's not.

Here’s something funny I noticed they always want to reference the old seasons the old Memes and stuff in the old characters but they want your things like Patrick’s real sister, or jokes that weren’t funny enough to reference. Seriously I’ll never understand why they replaced Patrick‘s sister with a squid girl because the problem with his actual sister was she was just a jerk, they should’ve tried to make her a better character instead of replacing her because it feels so weird that they’re replacing her with his character that’s not Patrick biological sister and the fact that they change parents again too is just like do you guys even care about continuity or do you just cherry and pick what you want to be Canon?
Not to mention the movie for Camp Cole which literally goes against everything SpongeBob’s lore has said. I know the lore isn’t the biggest thing for SpongeBob but the little parts of continuity with how Sandy SpongeBob Patrick Squidward and Mr. Krabs meant is very important. And cam Coral completely throws it down the drain just to have the crappy spin off, not to mention the age between the characters makes no sense now for taking the lore of camp coral into account, because Mr. crabs looks like he’s still an old man in that show which would tell me he would be even older SpongeBob meant him as an adult. So already I don’t think the show is Cannon.
Why do I bring these spinoff things up? because there are prime example of what’s wrong with the newer SpongeBob as a whole, they rewrite the lore and characters not to mention they try so hard to appeal to the older generation that watch the show by referencing stuff like my leg and of course ruining the joke without realizing the whole reason why worked in the first place was because it was a short little gag that went fast and got the point across. Not to mention they make characters like bubble bash a character nobody likes that guy and I don’t know why they try so hard to make people like him.
Then they wanna introduce other characters from their spin off into the main show literally defeating their purpose of being a spin off. It’s like they want to be the original show but forget we made the original show good.
The last thing I wanna complain about is the Reliance on the faces and the visuals instead of the jokes and the writing and the Comedy. They really seem to rely more on funny faces, referencing things, and not to mention the visuals.
They think that’s what makes SpongeBob but actually that’s not how SpongeBob came to be such a beloved show it’s like they’re doing the complete opposite of what they think people like.
I agree a problem with modern spongebob, is that it does lack jokes because its plotlines are a bit too developed, so they have maybe a good run time but no actual jokes to remember them for. The plotlines need to be simpler so the jokes around the situation can do the talking for it. Spongebob doesn't need a deep plot or story. It needs humor in the dialogue.

6 and 8 still have good episodes but these new ones just don’t even feel like the show
I like modern SpongeBob! But I think the show has been falling of since Season 12 and onwards, I like all of the seasons before that! Oh and Season 11 is the best season of the show in my opinion!

Watching reviews of modern seasons of _SpongeBob SquarePants_ has shown me how far back I stopped watching the show. Most of the episodes mentioned in this video I've never heard of.
True, the Getaway was really good. It kind of reminds me of SpongeBob Meets the Strangler tbh
Kinda sucks though that it was paired with Lost and Found, which is pretty boring, despite having cool visuals and a fun concept.
I think seasons 9B-13 are A LOT BETTER than seasons 6-9A, I like seasons 9B-13 but I hate seasons 6-9A.
Of course saying 6-9A is worse is a bad excuse, but it's definitively not wrong, it's WAY BETTER. I like modern SpongeBob because I think the animation is great, the humor is good and the characters have improved, they're also very creative and some episode are very well written.
Amd honestly, I think The Fish Bowl is pretty decent and I only dislike one scene. I dislike 5 modern episodes but The Fish Bowl isn't one of them, it's fun and creative, and Patrick didn't annoy me at all, he just abuses of his power like he did in Rule of Dumb, which is another decent episode imo but worse than this one because it had some awkward scenes, and he figures this out at the end and feels bad... And the Squidward torture here is actually funny because of how absurd it is, the ending with Squidward waiting at the door and then running to get his ice cream is pretty funny.

Seasons 4-8 get a lot of trash that those seasons honestly don’t deserve. Sure they’re not as good as seasons 1-3, but they’re way better than seasons 10- only god knows how many seasons SpongeBob goes on for.
Ngl bro new SpongeBob ain’t that bad. Sure older episodes and season are miles better but I still get a good laugh at the newer ones, I actually really like season 13 and I see it as an improvement to 11 and 12
I'd take Mimic Madness is easily over that disgusting Face Freeze episode. I prefer Mimic Madness for one, the quality song in it and, second, it plays off off something we already know about Spongebob, that he can alter his shape and voice, like he did in the earlier seasons. Face Freeze is just gross out that isn't funny. Its pretty much the same type of episode as the one with the invisible spray paint, but that episode is actually funny from the old seasons and not gross.

Hooray another Face Freeze enjoyer! Modern Spongebob is boring because of how the humor is so obvious and the stories are extremely goofy and lack any depth behind them, no clever and witty dialogue, gutsy characterization, just quirky joke along wacky episode and that's it, even the Tibbit seasons attempted to treat the audience at times older with writing, but now the show is just solely aimed to be juvenile as opposed to widely spread out.
Yeah, I really don't understand why people like Modern Spongebob for this reason. I can appreciate the show trying to be more ambitious and the animation looking good but there are way too many issues with it. Horrible characterization, flimsy stories, trying so hard to be funny, no clever dialogue to be found and shameless nostalgia baiting. To me, jingling keys in front of a child's face is more entertaining than most of Modern Spongebob.

Honestly, I believe SpongeBob got truly bad by season 9. 1-8 really isn't as bad as people say it is. There are some really bad episodes in 4-8, but the good outweighs the bad

Sure you two and actually majority of people don't like modern SpongeBob, but it feels like this implies that anyone that likes modern SpongeBob is dumb, which is not true. People have different opinions. There's only one opinion about this that's invalid: "Modern SpongeBob is better than pre-movie". That one is not true by any means. Like, I personally like most of the modern episodes, (and only half of them in later Season 11 and 12, and in Season 13 I can't even say I like half of them.), but I would never say modern SpongeBob is better than pre-movie, nor would I say it's on-par, because it's not.
