  • Here's one from deep within the vault! 1997 Pre-SpongeBob demo recording, when the show was still referred to as "Sponge Boy." I recorded these songs and presented them to Steve Hillenburg as he was developing the musical identity for his show. Some of these unused songs appeared in my independent film, "Colordog" which features a funny pineapple character

      @@SteveBelferOfficialHi, I'm a huge fan of your work on spongebob I was wondering if you could clear some stuff up about this demo recording.
      1. is it just one cassette or multiple.
      2. I know this ones kinda weird but what was the original lable name/names of said tape/tapes.
      3. do you know or remember if this was the hawiian music that was played at the original pitch meeting for spongebob in early 1997. and if not what was it made for. The last ones kinda hard because you made this what like 33 years ago, I can't even remember what I mostly did a month ago I know it's a lot but I'm the kinda person that likes to know everything they like, if you could that would be nice.

      @@melissalongacre733 thanks for the thoughtful comment and questions! 1, it was one 60 minute cassette and multiple takes and sections. I edited it into this little compilation a long time ago. 2, the original name I put on the tape was 1997 SpongeBoy sessions or something like that. It was not affiliated with the show but I gave the tape to Steve H as my music idea pitch. 3. I was inspired by old Hawaiian music and used that as musical ideas with my limited abilities at that time as a player. My primitive style was appealing because it gave it a home-made and silly underwater vibe

    I noticed the theme at 5:15 appears to be the "primitive" version of the theme in SB-129. The "future" version has an added lead (my most viewed video has a decent audio extraction of it) and I'm wondering if you have that lead anywhere

    • @WhoBobWhatPants
      @WhoBobWhatPants Месяц назад +9

      Just to let you know the primitive version is a different recording from the future version and the one in this video is not the primitive version, just the future version without the added stuff

      I think the lead was synthesized by Nick Carr in Pro Tools.

    What electric guitar did you use on the spongebob closing theme? The lower chord notes have always had such a particular sound to them and I've never been able to figure out exactly why. I'm guessing a strat of some kind, anything else special?
