how would everything be loaded all at once? ground layout is generated with something similar to Perlin noise while a lot of structures are very rectangular , many biomes are eliptical, caves are of weird patterns and more. basically everything points out to be layers of generation, but I too didn't think they literally fill up the world just to replace the data later. I guess it's possible because you pre-gen the world and it's not that big to generate so it only takes some load time and that approach allows for more fluid and smooth worldgen than would be done otherwise with the same amount of work.
Crazy how small the oceans are compared to literally everything else, and those feel pretty big, it just really puts into perspective how big the map really is, and I love it
You wouldn't be able to watch it properly in Minecraft because the World Generator of Minecraft is so damn efficient, partly because it just has a lot less phases than Terraria has.

i dont agree with the picture thing but i do also think that for like me, for example i don’t want to have the whole thing spoiled and i would kinda subconsciously remember exactly where the temple is, and it wouldn’t be as satisfying when i “find” it. or as some one else said, sword shrines and pyramids. and also finding the “right” floating island can be very time consuming but satisfying, just knowing “ok the one at spawn is water, let’s skip that one” would be kinda boring. ok rant over (god this is long)

Something likely damaged the larva in one of the hives after you spawned in. Maybe lava dropped onto it because it generated inside somehow? Although I'm not familiar with the list of things which are able to damage the larva, that would be my best guess

The line you see that's updating the map actually just hadn't updated that the temple was created yet, and by the time it looped back around, it was doing the Settle Liquids pass, so it also updated the map to include the temple.
Fun Fact: most games actually spawn in what their saying because it is easier to name it the class (or variable) instead of just lying for example Public class terrain { String generate = “Loading terrain” } System.out.println(terrain); (you would also put the code for loading the terrain I’m but that is easier then writing different variables then just using the actual variable)

Problem in making it vanilla is that it tells you where everything is, there’s a reason the map is made by discovering it. Main point is that floating islands, sword shrines, and even specific biomes and chests are shown on this map if you look close enough
There’s a reason the whole map is blacked out once you’re in the game and you have to explore to open it up more, this would defeat the entire purpose of doing so

I think they might have thought about doing it. But it makes it easier to actually give you more satisfaction if they leave. It obscured since if you're looking at how the world generates, then you already kind of have a baseline verb? What and where in stuff like that? So it kind of takes the bite at exploring

I always use this mod. It’s a life saver If I see the corruption is too close to the spawn I will just remake the world. Makes it so much better for when hard mode hits to deal with evil biomes. Also seeing where the shimmer is saves so much time as well. It’s so annoying looking for that

This is really easy to prove with TEdit, creat a new world in terraria, open it in TEdit, flood it with a liquid, then save it and open it, it will be stuck on settling water for a good couple of minutes
