When I went to Vietnam in 1967 I took a little tape player with me on which I had taped some songs by Donovan. I figured that in lonely times over there in that jungle I could get some feelings of being back home. Donovan's voice could soothe things even in that hell hole called Vietnam.
A hellhole that was completely unnecessary too, as it turned out, but that monster Henry Kissinger couldn't wait for the death toll to get started. I LOVE this song, and Donovan and Crystal Gayle are perfect for this heart warming song of LOVE. The first time I listened to it I actually got a couple tears in my eyes. They warm my heart and remind me of my 45 years I've been lucky enough to have with my beautiful wife, Deb. I am so fortunate to have this LOVE affair with her. God Bless each of you and please focus on the happiness in your lives.

What is Scots Iris ??? Donovan is Scottish from Maryhill, no Irish in it.
But keep in mind that CG has Amerindian blood running through her veins. More beautiful than many a Miss Universe!
@@Bruce-1956 "Scots Irish" is what Americans usually call Ulster Scots, the Scottish who settled in what is now Northern Ireland. But as you say, Donovan is not descended from them.

Oh God, that was so beautiful, I wish it could have gone on for so much longer! Donovan was so very special, but never seemed to become an icon like Dylan or Elton John, or David Bowie. He deserved it. His songs and singing were very haunting.
