Im not one to "fall in love" with female entertainers but I think SHE would be an exception- what a heavenly voice.. and a sweet unassuming affect! Makes me think of my sweet Mary, lost long ago in Mexico...
Breathtaking! Her voice is like a hummingbird floating around a feeder: You are hesitant to make a move, or speak a word otherwise it will vanish; it is like vapor appearing before your eyes: once there, all too soon gone. Thank you for posting this gem
I' came acroos this OGWT show by accident. I was bored and there was nothing else on the tele. I was captivated. Emmylou and the Hot Band. Very special.
The only Angelic part missing on Emmylou are the Angels Wings! On the other hand they may be there, just not visible to the naked eye, but there nonetheless‼️🪽🪽❤️🤷🏽♂️
I was lucky enough to see Emmylou AND the Hot Band in person in NYC's Lincoln Center when Emmylou introduced the band to the public..A LONG time ago. Best performance I have ever seen. Of course it didn't hurt that I have loved Emmylou almost as far back as I can remember. Emmylou is five years younger than this old guy. Her hair is now a beautiful gray and mine is gone. I am to this very day still crazy in love with this marvelous lady.
True that! The only thing I see differently is that rather than "many of today's female singers " can't compare, I don't know of "any of today's female performers that can compare!
You couldn't have said it any better! She bears such a graceful elegance., decency, purity and humble charm that transfers directly to her voice. I didn't even know what she looked like until recently. Shes gorgeous! Yet it's her talented singing that she presents first and foremost!
@@hux2000 In defense of the comment, I think they are simply describing the "look " of many of today's performers. Simply describing the visual style that they choose. Not making any moral judgement. And, honestly I knew exactly what the comment meant. Some of them do portray a satanic presence with the way they present themselves, simply to appeal to a particular group of people. I might go on to say that performers do have to...market themselves to stand out in some way, especially if there is any lack of supreme talent. lol
@@rmiller2179 of course there’s no rap. It’s Emmylou Harris. Rap is to some folk what musicians like Emmylou are to us. Hell, if anything complain about that dogshit Nashville keeps putting on the radio while calling it “country” music as opposed to pop music, which it actually is. (Chris Stapleton excluded)
If you think you’ve heard every song Emmylou has ever done or just wanna hear a great one she laid tracks on than check out “Landlocked Blues” by Bright Eyes. She sings on another track or two on that Bright Eyes album but I can’t remember the names off the top of my head.
What a gift Emmylou Harris's voice is and it is so wonderful she shares it to the delight of all her fans. Plus what a fantastic group of musicians she has backing her. I wish I had been at this show.
Nowadays, especially if you watch those talent shows, a lot of people seem to like those 'singers' who screech at the top of their voice and above their range and what's worse, the so-called professional judges even praise them
I had the privilege of knowing Emmy Lou in the 70's when she would play regularly in a coffee house in Arlington Virginia. Tremendous talent. Saw her every night for weeks. She greeted me by name. Wonderful person.
All the way from ireland. What a lady artist and an unbelievable singer. There is only a few singers on this earth that makes you feel like the way after listening to to her singing
I just discovered this yesterday. I am not sure how I missed it back in the 70's. I never realized just how beautiful she was back then. I have played this A LOT. Total infatuation right now.
Matt James I know!!! I think that I thought that Loretta Lynn's sister, Crystal Gayle, was more beautiful than Loretta and Emmy Lou were. I was seriously deluded and have learned the error of my ways! Emmy is, and was, an exquisite natural beauty, who woke up looking beautiful. Crystal was beautiful, also, but in a more glamorous, made up way.
We saw her and the Hot Band a the NC State student union concert in the early 70"s. We sat 20 feet from her. They blew us all away. That was before she was a superstar, except to us.
I saw her in a nightclub in California in 1975. Unassigned Seating, I got a table Front Row Center and she sang this song, as well as others. I felt I was in the presence of a Goddess lol. Alot of people just don't like country for some kind of "stigma" reasons. I've found that most people really don't have their own taste in music, but follow a crowd - whatever that crowd likes, they "like". Or whatever is currently popular. And when certain music goes "out of style" they no longer listen, as if age and vogue have something to do with the enjoyment of music. They have to move with the times, rather than their own sense of what is good. When I hear comments like "oh that sounds so 'dated' " I know they have no tastes of their own.

Im not one to "fall in love" with female entertainers but I think SHE would be an exception- what a heavenly voice.. and a sweet unassuming affect! Makes me think of my sweet Mary, lost long ago in Mexico...
Second that Gene.
Amen to that.
Happy Birthday, Albert Lee is eighty now! Thank you for all the decades adding the cherry on the cream with your unique feeling for the right notes.
She has the voice of an angel...still gives me chills.
She’s such an amazing talent
Which of her songs is your favorite
Like nails on a chalkboard.
@@saturnsongs Wow, you're so edgy. 🤡

Been years since I first watched this performance and I still keep coming back..again and again. She's an angel. 🌷🌹
ruclips.net/video/3-f9PfLjI3A/видео.html Musicians are angels as they know how to take you from down earth and help you reach the sky. 🌹🌹🌹
Breathtaking! Her voice is like a hummingbird floating around a feeder: You are hesitant to make a move, or speak a word otherwise it will vanish; it is like vapor appearing before your eyes: once there, all too soon gone. Thank you for posting this gem

Yep beyond good
Beautiful description
Wauw.The right words.
I assume, Theo, that you are a songwriter and/or poet....if not, you should be.
I' came acroos this OGWT show by accident. I was bored and there was nothing else on the tele. I was captivated. Emmylou and the Hot Band. Very special.
She's probably the closest thing to an earthly angel 😌
The only Angelic part missing on Emmylou are the Angels Wings! On the other hand they may be there, just not visible to the naked eye, but there nonetheless‼️🪽🪽❤️🤷🏽♂️
Such a beautiful, haunting, wonderfull voice singing a great song. How can anyone not love her singing?
Love her with a passion…
I love her confidence. She sings to herself
I believe Willie Nelson once said: “ There are two kinds of people in this world, those who love Emmylou Harris, and those who have not met her yet.”
@@kasseyr1 so fricken purte
Hey Willy, I've never met her but I love her. I don't even want to know a man who doesn't.
Albert Lee und Emmylou Harris - very cool 👏👏👏
I think Albert said this time with the Hot Band was his favorite. This is by far my favorite HB line-up.
What a voice ...........
She is so beautiful and talented…. I listen to this song everyday 💕🙏🌺🌹
Hello how are you doing??
Emmylou Harris eine wunderbare Sängerin. Ihr zuzuhören macht Freude.
she's so humble she makes sure everyone gets the roost before she sings..and natural beauty also..i'm lucky to get to see this tonight..
Trev Mac burtrelnhoilst
A favorite for decades. This is possibly the most well constructed song ever performed. She reigns to this day. 💖
It was real back then, no auto tone
I've watched this a thousand times. The singular most beautiful singer in America.
Yes yes yes
still listening in 2024❤ ❤❤❤Beautiful ❤❤ love emmylou
I was lucky enough to see Emmylou AND the Hot Band in person in NYC's Lincoln Center when Emmylou introduced the band to the public..A LONG time ago. Best performance I have ever seen. Of course it didn't hurt that I have loved Emmylou almost as far back as I can remember. Emmylou is five years younger than this old guy. Her hair is now a beautiful gray and mine is gone. I am to this very day still crazy in love with this marvelous lady.
She embodies what elegant beauty and sexuality is without being cheap, vulgar or satanic. Many of today's female singers cannot compare to Emmy Lou
AMEN TO THAT!
"Satanic"? ROFL!!
I might go on to say that performers do have to...market themselves to stand out in some way, especially if there is any lack of supreme talent. lol
The best female vocalist ever❤❤❤
I would have trouble deciding between her and Linda Ronstadt....
Still listening 26 Mar 24 from Maastricht in the Netherlands.
Uit Groningen ook :)
2024 and I've just fallen in love with Emmy Lou ❤
welcome to the millions...
@@AllelemanAin’t that the truth!
Where have you been living?
Me the same 😊
So much to enjoy in five short minutes of pure excellence in this amazing voice singing her signature song, Tulsa Queen!
Real music, real talent, real art. So calm and peaceful. No lights, half naked dancers, or other shiney objects to detract from her amazing voice.
I know right?!
I covered this song to give a tribute to her on her birthday!!!! It would mean the world to me if you saw it😆
and no godamn "RAP"
Well said
@@rmiller2179 of course there’s no rap.
I wish I had been at this show.
someone commented that her singing is weak. Are we watching the same video? She opens her mouth and the most effortlessly glorious sound comes forth.
My top 3 are Emmylou, Linda Ronstadt and Annie Haslam. Maddy Prior is right up there, too. Oh yeah, and Ann Wilson.
Yeah WTH could that possibly mean? Weak, no way!!
Yes, she is impeccable and gracious too. Look and listen to the musicians who play with her.
I'm looking and listening..and?
Nowadays, especially if you watch those talent shows, a lot of people seem to like those 'singers' who screech at the top of their voice and above their range and what's worse, the so-called professional judges even praise them
I had the privilege of knowing Emmy Lou in the 70's when she would play regularly in a coffee house in Arlington Virginia. Tremendous talent. Saw her every night for weeks. She greeted me by name. Wonderful person.
Emmylou Harris has one of the most beautiful female vocalists voices out of all genre's of music. She is so under appreciated and what a talent.
Emmylou is an American treasure….
Was she Townes van Zandts Girl?
Right!
Agreed & that reality is disliked.

I discovered Emmy Lou just a few weeks ago, her voice is amazing!
This woman is of course a very fine performer with a legendary voice.
She's also one of the most hauntingly beautiful women I have seen in my life.
💯
Seen prettier girls at the cash register. We must be living on different planets.
Just because you like some one doesn't make them perfect...
@agnidas5816 I didn't ask you to think she's beautiful. I said I think she's beautiful.
My God, what idiocy..
You went to the trouble to write that?
@@agnidas5816 Change your glasses, it’ll help
She's arguably grown more beautiful with age.
How true ! God created women for man to enjoy his perfection. Thank you God!.
She will always be my favorite. Especially in her beginning days. I love you, Emmylou Harris ❤
We saw her and the Hot Band a the NC State student union concert in the early 70"s. We sat 20 feet from her. They blew us all away. That was before she was a superstar, except to us.
First time I saw her was in Cincinnati with Willie, Waylon and Jerry Jeff. What a great show.
Alright. Stop bragging Grandad. LOL. :)
I'm drooling too. ;-)

an angel singing she don't even try, to sound like an angel. just opens her mouth and beautiful comes out.
Voice of an angel
william chandler so true she has the voice of an angel maybe she is and lost her wings
I saw her in a nightclub in California in 1975. Unassigned Seating, I got a table Front Row Center and she sang this song, as well as others. I felt I was in the presence of a Goddess lol. Her voice cracked in all the right places, conveying sweet/sad vulnerability. What an excellent artist. I'll never forget that night.
@@relars52 You're a very fortunate man Richard, they weren't able to perform together very long...a tragic story Gram Parsons... haunted ELH to this day. Certainly far longer than his wife at the time. Thanks for sharing your experience. Thanks to every one! What a voice...and The Hot Band. Can't beat. Still amazing after all these years!
Emmylou is amazing, still is today. There's no telling how many times I've watched this video and it's still just as powerful now as the first time I saw it. She's an angel.
I have just listened to this track, then forwarded 30 years and Boy, she still sounds GREAT ~ probably the best female country singer, ever.
i agree. although, i did hear linda ronstadt in concert in 1978. amazing performance.
with the possible exception of the Stones (2002) and Simon & Garfunkel (1969), the best live show i ever attended.,

Had the wonderful pleasure of having this amazing talent visit my home a year ago. Her musical depth isn't the half of it. She is extremely intelligent and thoughtful as well as a warm humanitarian.
See how She introduces her band & others so humble ,never knowing that she is beautiful. What a sweetheart !
Some years ago when visiting Arizona,I was told ,most men here love Emmylou Harris.I joined them. What can I say, that's not been said before.
One of the most beautiful and creative artist in my opinion...A definintion of a very strong woman!!
It's been a couple of weeks since I first heard this number, not being a country fan, and it sticks in my head. I can't wait to get home and hear it again.
What a voice; what a tone from Albert Lee; the song's melody and haunting sound is one of the best things I've ever heard. Thank you Emmylou.
Same as that (I do not do country) but this was really cool 😎 (its stuck in my head)!
This is at least a weekly thing for me and has been for many years. It is beyond superlative.
501 dislikes of people who are deaf in their heart. With the tender hand of love, your voice strokes my soul.
dislikes from madonna, lady gaga, beyonce, lopez and such lovers
Alot of people just don't like country for some kind of "stigma" reasons. I've found that most people really don't have their own taste in music, but follow a crowd - whatever that crowd likes, they "like". Or whatever is currently popular. And when certain music goes "out of style" they no longer listen, as if age and vogue have something to do with the enjoyment of music. They have to move with the times, rather than their own sense of what is good.
When I hear comments like "oh that sounds so 'dated' " I know they have no tastes of their own.
Absolutely fantastic! There is not a song that this lady can't make better. There will never be another Emmylou!
