I was fortunate to see this show in Stockholm. When Emmylou opened her mouth and started singing tears came running down my face 😢 such beauty ♥️
My fatherinlaw passed away and my wife thought this song should be played on the day of his funeral in church. After that she listened a thousands times to this song, with tears in her eyes. Now my wife passed away recently and at the end of the burialceremony in the church I had arranged to play this song for her! Now I am crying every time when I hear this song! Soooo Good! Soooo Intense! So oo heartfilling! I am greatful to Mark and Emmylou. This song will last forever in my heart!
My God this is beautiful. The way Emmylou hangs on every note in the opening verse, is absolutely haunting. To know now that this was written to capture a phone call on 9/11 from one of the Twin Towers , knowing it was their last words. Close your eyes, and hear every word. It's just breathtakingly beautiful. Two legends... thank you.

Listening to this video every September 11, since 2006, we remember the many lives that were destroyed, damaged and changed forever and, in particular, the folk aboard the Boeing 757-222 (United Airlines Flight 93 ) whose last communications with loved ones inspired the lyrics and composition of this extraordinary and hauntingly beautiful song, and performance.

Definitely agree, no gimmicks just two superb artistes, on a stage with an excellent band, no silly lighting or pyrotechnics. Perfection can not be bettered, youngsters take note and learn.

This 'take' could've been the last take of this song and gone right onto the CD. Such an amazing beautiful, sad song performed in outstanding fashion by Mark, Emmylou and their tight backup band. Thank you! Bless all those commenting here and all those in this Covid time.
Omg. I can’t believe I haven’t heard this song. A mate of mine just sent it to me. Thank you Mark mate. I cried. Especially at the loss of our Queen Elizabeth II. I also lost an uncle in Oz aged 95. It’s 23:15 hrs 16/09/22 Good bye to our Queen. Long live The Queen. She will be remembered always.
Another gem by Mark written as only he can do with the deep delicacy and the right respect for the victims and the force of their love.... despite everything. This beautiful duet is very moving and intense. Thanks Mark and Emmylou.
Oh wow. Emmylou had and still has the voice of an angel. So much emotion and so much control. Beautiful, just beautiful. Add Mark's guitar and you have perfection
Since his days after leaving Dyer Straits, I have come to really appreciate this man's true appreciation for the guitar. Knopfler's style is truly unique, with his trademark string bending style. Do you even realize you're performing in front of a live audience Knopler? Looks like you're completely lost in your music, totally absorbed, oblivious to anything happening before you. As a guitarist, that's a true pleasure to watch (and listen to!).
I don't know what to say, except magnificent, superb... What a beautiful duo, between a genius guitarist and 2 superb voices. Thanks to the musicians too. And thank you to all of you, who post these very beautiful videos.
This is an extraordinary song. My dear wife died very recently, but I am consoled by a remark that her sister made. The sister said that my wife was always a happy person, but much happier with me in her life. My own sister said that I seemed much happier with my wife in my life. So, I guess we did well by each other.
I remember playing this song around Christmas when I thought my mom was going to be gone soon. It just seemed like the perfect song and it still makes me happy every time I hear it because it reminds me of her. No one is ever gone as long you keep them in your thoughts. This guy is one of my favorites.
There is no talent like this nowadays!....how can two artists from aceos the world from two completely different genres come together and do this?....simple answer! .... talent!!!
I love how they just come on the stage and perform - no backup singers and dancers - no crazy costumes - no theatrics - pure talent!

My eye's are now full of tears, the absolute love of my life passed away on 20/9/2019 and I now still I miss my wondeful wife more than mere words could possibly describe. I truly wish that I was present at that paricular concert.
I wept...cause I understand... mine has gone home on 1st July 2020... Life has been ever empty since then😢😢
Thinking and praying for you John brother
I'm so glad I stumbled on to this. As I expected from these two, there isn't an extra note in the whole piece and there isn't a note missing. I call that perfect.
Lo mejor un clásico me encantan los diré straits
Well put. I totally agree.
Michael Colloton
Couldn't agree more!!!
Yay, Mark and Emmylou! what could be better? Eric and Sheryl doing Wonderful Tonight, maybe?
Beautifully expressed… I cannot think of a lovelier tribute.❤️
This song is heartbreaking and beautiful. The outro solo sounds like the guitar is crying for all of those people. Wonderful tribute.
Two gods of music coming together for utter perfection
One God and one Goddess 😍
MK is a unique example of a decent and noble man, endowed with numerous talents. I admire him! ❤
I lost my dearest beautiful wife last August , yesterday would have been her 81 birthday. Tonight I'm hearing this song with tears in my eyes

Her voice knocks me over every time. Together they're magic.
The same here, wouw !!!!
This song hits my heart. So lovely
@@catherineriddle1191 I agree! They're both so soulful and thank goodness, still appreciated.
I fell in love with her voice hearing her harmonize with Gram Parsons, so sweet and real. I saw her in the late 70s in mankato mn, love to see her again! Her and Linda Ronstadt were huge, still are!
❤I was just finishing my university days in London when Dire Straits with Mark was most listened to. I bought all of Dire Straits albums and still with me. Dire Straits music & songs are unique and will always remain in me.
Thanks Dire Straits, thanks Mark. God blessing to you all. 🙏
First time I have heard this it's beautiful. The guitar playing fits Emmylou's voice and the lyrics. Fabulous thanks Mark for posting.
Emmylou has the most wonderful voice for sad songs. She could sing the telephone directory and have us all in tears by 'Aardvark'.
🥰
Thank You Mark for this beautiful tribute and for the challenge of living out our glory, which is loving one another ! 8:20am
Played at my adorable wife's 'Celebration of Life' yesterday. So uplifting! Till.......! Just shout my angel, just shout! xxxx
This woman is so pure of voice, and this guitarist is so beyond words for me, I play guitar largely because of him, and the songs on this album are poetic and beautiful
The guitar speeks love beautiful xx
Emmylou Harris...angel voice. Thanks Mark!
❤️
Agree...it's a taste of heaven .
@@emilyflotilla931 ❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇭
Absolutely beautiful…brings back memories of the last words my life partner Geetha whispered to me before she passed🙏🙏🙏❤️
Emmylou is as beautiful as she ever was and truly a phenom along with one of the best guitar players in the world~!!!!!
This is the definition of perfection. When the music and the singing are perfect, you don't need weird gimmicks.
Definitely agree, no gimmicks just two superb artistes, on a stage with an excellent band, no silly lighting or pyrotechnics. Perfection can not be bettered, youngsters take note and learn.
Is it true Mark plays only by ear?
@@lencalneggia8884 he almost certainly can read music very well. But at this level of skill he can almost certainly work anything out by ear
Thanks my info was wrong. I consider myself the best guitar player
Sorry that should be "consider MK" the best guitar player
Music directly send out of Heaven for wonderful men : Thank you eternaly
Mark and Emmylou!!!
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Een fantastisch duo. Mark Knopfler één van de allerbeste gitaristen ter wereld en Emmylou Harris een icoon op het gebied van Country muziek in Amerika.
Just beautiful, words can’t describe this master peace. Nostalgia of days gone by when music had a meaning of our generation.
Hello from 🌵Tucson AZ🌵…I’m 74…listening to these

Beauty and speaking my hearts’ truth with music & lyrics

i have heard this 120 times, and tears keep coming in my eyes, Everytime this song, these voices, and this music touches me. It is one of the best songs, and for sure the best version.
Ad Van Gool You have a excellent taste in real music sir
Time for 121!
me too, don't count anymore the replays, hahaha what a perfect combination, flowless
With you hombre, it was difficult to hit your thumbs up for sure!
This 'take' could've been the last take of this song and gone right onto the CD. Such an amazing beautiful, sad song performed in outstanding fashion by Mark, Emmylou and their tight backup band. Thank you! Bless all those commenting here and all those in this Covid time.
Bless you richly!
Your voices are beautiful the raw emotions shine thru. Absolutely wonderful!!
My husband of 48yrs loved this song, he has since passed away 02/24/24 ❤
Knopfler goosebumps....... Guitar King forever .
Another gem by Mark written as only he can do with the deep delicacy and the right respect for the victims and the force of their love.... despite everything. This beautiful duet is very moving and intense. Thanks Mark and Emmylou.
Emmy and Mark compliment each other. Just great.
The whole album is really good, I wish they'd do another one!
So respectful
Oh wow. Emmylou had and still has the voice of an angel. So much emotion and so much control. Beautiful, just beautiful. Add Mark's guitar and you have perfection
So Beautiful, a wonderful tribute to Chris Kristofferson. RIP Kris, forever free ❤
DRailroad n;
DRailroad: thanks for a great comment! Enjoyed reading it quite a bit, especially the last part.
So true x
I loved him in Dire Straights and he has just continued to get greater through the years !

I don't know what to say, except magnificent, superb... What a beautiful duo, between a genius guitarist and 2 superb voices. Thanks to the musicians too. And thank you to all of you, who post these very beautiful videos.
Perfect!Emmy,ou is one of my favorite female voices and he and she together, absolute perfection🎈💜👍🏼
Your memories are always yours , tunes ,words, weather whatever it's all yours , enjoy .
I'm still listening to this in 2024
This song will last forever bro. Just too good.
Same here October 18, 2024 it never gets old🎶🎶
