This is one of the most beautiful songs ever written. This is why Bob Dylan mocked Donovan. He saw the raw talent in this man and was scared what could happen if he stood up from his seat.
When did Dylan mock Donovan? Donovan looked up to Dylan as an older brother and Dylan seemed to like Donovan quite a lot. If anything it seemed more like playful, competitive banter between the two.
As Mary hopkin sang those were the days, beautiful music, when it came out our neighbours went down to Cornwall in England and they said this song reminded them of it
😎 🎶 In the chilly hours and minutes Of uncertainty, I want to be In the warm hold of your loving mind To feel you all around me And to take your hand along the sand Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind When sundown pales the sky I want to hide a while behind your smile And everywhere I'd look, your eyes I'd find For me to love you now Would be the sweetest thing That would make me sing Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind When rain has hung the leaves with tears I want you near to kill my fears To help me to leave all my blues behind For standing in your heart Is where I want to be, and I long to be Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind 🎶
It is clear to me that Donovan tries to put a little more bite in his performance here. It does not really work for him. It comes out as forced and goes against his natural flow. It is likely influenced by Dylan who has that bite in abundance.
SERIOUSLY? YOU THINK this sweet, but puerile little bubble gum ditty is superior to, say, Visions of Johanna; Don't Think Twice It's All Right; It's All Right, Ma I'm Only Bleeding; or It's All Over Now, Baby Blue? Come on, that's laughable. Dylan's songs have complexity and mult layered meanings. Donovan looked up to and tried to copy Dylan, but there's no comparison.
That doesn't look like Wembley stadium. It looks more like a skating rink. No harmonica on this version, which is a disappointment. A fantasic voice though.
Oh my gosh, Donovan would have only been 18 in 1965, depending on what month this was. Amazing.
Impish.
This is my fave song by him.

This IS one of the most beautiful song I’ve ever heard. Oh, those lyrics…lump in my throat…thank you Donovan
Apart from Dylan is much better you mean
@@evancodsworth2 I’d say he looked up to Woody Guthrie more than Bob
@@therenegadej5764 this does sound like dylan.
❤❤❤ ......ein wunderschönes Video 😍😍😍 , dieses Lied liebe ich noch immer ......
Great song, great singer. Thank you Donovan.
Donovan.. The best ever! Very underrated.
What a happy love song. I learned it on my guitar years ago....

I truly wasn't made for these times.
This is at the 1965 NME Poll winners Concert on 16th April 1965 at The Empire Pool, Wembley, London.
Play this when I pass
😎
🎶 In the chilly hours and minutes
Of uncertainty, I want to be
In the warm hold of your loving mind
To feel you all around me
And to take your hand along the sand
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind

I want to hide a while behind your smile
And everywhere I'd look, your eyes I'd find
For me to love you now

That would make me sing
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind
When rain has hung the leaves with tears
I want you near to kill my fears
To help me to leave all my blues behind
For standing in your heart
Is where I want to be, and I long to be
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind 🎶
Sooooo Gooooood
There's a video from 1989 of Rickie Lee Jones doing a wonderful cover of this song.
The day Donovan learned not to turn away from the mic :)
👏👊🔥
I heard that the answers my friend, were blowing in the wind.
Maybe inspired "i got you babe" sounds sometimes same
I thought so too!!
Rock is

I think he was going for a bit more volume in his voice.
Très inspiré par Bobby Dylan, mais bon il chante bien
Donovan messed up on this song in that the harmonica was too far from his mouth to reach so he had to just finish the song without it
His songs are far superior and classier than Dylan’s .
His voice is a lot better too.
thats just like your opinion man

Saw great groups in skating rinks in the U. S. Stevie Winwood played there?
Yeah it is. I've seen the entire 1965 NME Awards Concert plenty of times.
