Im 71. Heard this a time ago. I never thought of myself as getting older. Then one day you look in the mirror and wonder who that is. Then you survive cancer and then lookin perfect doesn't take up much of your time. Bosses in their 40s and 50s driven to get that next thing. Then tonight I happened to find this and am glad I stopped by. With the anger in this world just getting more widespread it's nice to let some air out of the balloon.
Joan Baez has the voice of a nightingale. She discovered Bob and introduced him to Newport, she was the older woman star. She was in love with him, and she sings his songs so beautifully. This brings tears so gorgeous. I want to sing it to my precious little grandson Thais only 18 months old now.
I said my mom's eulogy this past Wednesday. I had them play this arrangement when I was through. I told the people in attendance, I will always remember my mom's incredible spirit, zest for life and in my mind, forever young. She died peacefully at age 102 and a few months. Been a week, still tough, miss ya mom, but I am glad I had you all these years and the world is happy too. May God's Blessing keep you always.
Thanks to this wonderful digital age in which we live both Joannie and Bob ARE staying forever young.I wonder if either of them thought we'd be listening to this fabulous song fifty years later??

I play this song to my three daughters every time on their respective birthdays. I have done that since they were little and it has become part of our birthday tradition as much as silent night is of Christmas. And it always tears me up, because it so apt and so beautifully sung.
I send a recording of it every year to my granddaughters, too! I wish they were close enough for me to play it for them. And it makes me cry too. I hope by the time they really grow up they'll understand why I've sent it, and how deeply a parent or grandparent wishes these things for the children they love.
A blessing and a prayer. I was there when her career took off and saw her introduce the world to Bob Dylan when he opened for her at an early performance mid 60's. He was electrifying. I can't explain it. This is maybe the greatest song he ever wrote. But Baez alone made it iconic. We all need to hear this once in a while just to be filled with the love and grace it brings.

I remember sitting on the wall along Franklin Street at the University of North Carolina in 72 and thinking what a special place. The students would always be forever young. I had been so involved with the folk music of the 60s that I used to see the world through the lines of dozens of songs. This was one of my favorite.
May God Bless & keep you Joan always ! Nov 3rd is fast arriving in the Pacific Northwest for the Fare Thee Well tour...I cannot tell you the effect you have had on my life with your music, your voice and the being you embrace I Love you greatly...My hope is that I can achieve in this lifetime a legacy such as yours, even minutely. I have two beautiful daughters that I sang to in utero ...the eldest sings country gospel ...the younger soul, hip hop & oldies ...I hope I can achieve getting them both to this tour. You are a champion & I bless your life for sharing your voice with the world . You are Amazing!

May you stay forever young.
I hope it's not something you're really planning now. But in any case, why not print it up and hand it out now while you still can have the pleasure of sharing it! I think it's a great great idea! I may borrow it and do it too! See, you've already started a trend! Thank you.
I’m 68 and I plan to play this song at my funeral. Of course, if it’s not played, I won’t be able to do anything about it except come back and haunt my kids. 😂
I love this song. I want it to be played at my funeral. It's meaning is so deep. I want it to encourage all my friends and family who come to say bye to me, knowing it's only temporary and that one day the circle will be unbroken and there will be no more tears just a glorious reunion in Heaven, forever with our loved ones and with our glorious God. May we all stay strong in the faith. May God bless us all
This song hit straight through my heart. At 71 yrs old it hit straight to my heart as I too am a Cancer Survivor of 21 yrs only by God's Grace. My turning point came by denying God at my dying Mom's deathbed in hospital watching her suffering and pleading that He take her home to eternal life. I literally gave up on Him and promised not to return to that sickbed. He's response was immediate as I looked up into His Glorious countenance as He said "NOW YOU WILL SEE MY GLORY" What a Glorious God moment - I just knew that He had heard and would answer my prayer. I calmed down and prayerfully watched as at that very moment He took her Home to Rest Eternally Amen. We serve a living God who still hears and answers our prayers. THANK YOU MERCIFUL FATHER GOD Amen

Wow! She sings this Dylan song as if it was written only for her to sing, which is why I love her so much.
'The voice' as far as Im concerned... whatever the song, she drills down into the depths of my soul
Gorgeous voice and woman Ms. Baez. Absolutely timeless songwriting by Dylan. American masterpiece.
This always brings back the memory of my daughter, who died too soon, and will be forever young.

Touched my heart may she live forever young in heaven .....
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

Dear Joan Baez, you've announced that this is the final year you'll be touring and performing live concerts, and we, your fans, thank you......for all this beautiful music, for the commitment to bringing some peace and comfort to the suffering, and for sharing your gifts with all of us for all these years. May you stay forever young.
I want this song played at my funeral with the words written out and handed out to everyone attending. This is MY life !
I hope it's not something you're really planning now. But in any case, why not print it up and hand it out now while you still can have the pleasure of sharing it! I think it's a great great idea! I may borrow it and do it too! See, you've already started a trend! Thank you.
I agree
I've been listening to this album in our home growing up. My mom would be singing away. To this day my mom and I love this song and Joan of course!

There will never be another like this beautiful soul.
May God bless us all
What an astounding message xx
Agree.
Amen
Un usignolo.dedico questa canzone a chi riesce a volare alto..in questo periodo così triste ❤
Absolutely pretty and this is one of my most listened song recently. How are you doing greetings from New Jersey.
Ti saluto anche io
Not just a song, it's a prayer we say to our children!
Great guitar work, great lyrics, a very special voice. One of my favorite songs, written about her relationship with Bob Dylan. Maybe her best song! Listen to the adoration from the audience audience!
So much in this song relates to everything I wish for my beloved grandchildren Adam and Abigai.
"May you stay forever young my darlings",
