Back in the early nineties I was lucky and I do mean really lucky to be Elizabeth Montgomery's assistant and driver on a CBS television film called "With Murder In Mind" while I was living in Atlanta. We spent a wonderful five weeks together and that was one of the best and most intimate experiences I have ever had with an actor. From the first moment I saw her when she stepped off the plane wearing sun glasses and a big straw hat, loose fitting shirt and jeans I was just smitten. She was still incredibly beautiful and gave me that big smile when I introduced myself and she did the same calling herself Lizzie. We hit it off immediately having a wonderful conversation during the one hour ride back the the studio. She was totally down to earth as was her boyfriend Robert Foxworth who would join the cast a week later as her love interest. We really enjoyed each other and I found out much about her that the public nor I never knew. Like the fact that she was a card shark. Between camera setups or during a break in shooting she would play solitaire and very seriously at that. I asked her to teach it to me one afternoon and she did then asked if I wanted to play poker. Why not? My grandmother taught me how to play as a child. Long story short she wiped me out. With a dead straight face she played me to destitution in five hands. (We were only playing for pennies thank God) Super friendly she called the house several times for one thing or another during the shoot (This in the days before affordable cell phones) and ended up speaking to my mother who was cool but thrilled. I introduced her to my mom who rarely got to meet the actors I was working with and ended up having dinner at the house. She was just terrific. Because she had so many fans of her portrayal of "Lizzie Bordon" people around the world started sending her axes and she wound up collecting them. I gave her one myself. She told me some neat facts about that film as well like she actually played the murder scenes at least partially in the nude. (From what she told me those scenes were included in the European cut which I think was released theatrically)That was something as she had maintained her beautiful figure the rest of her life. I never usually talk about my crushes on people I've worked with but she made me wish that Bob Foxworth wasn't in her life. He was a really great guy too.) She told me about her very close friendship with Dick Sargent and her involvement in support of him in the LGBT community riding on floats in the Gay Pride parades. Lizzie ( as she liked to referred by) had these neat little things about her that I loved. One of them was she used a little mint spray bottle to freshen her breath before every scene and I asked her if she had ever tried Mentos. I had recently discovered them as Atlanta was a test market for them. She tried them and fell in love having me send her boxes of them to California after the show. I introduced her to pawn shopping. She asked me one day to buy her a cheap boom box for her trailer and I bought one from a favorite pawn store of mine. She asked me how I found one so cheap and I told her about the store. She had never been to one and wanted to go so on our day off I took her. She bought a few things and was immediately recognized. The staff along with everyone else she met wanted her to do the nose wiggle from her Samantha character and she always did with a smile, taking pictures and signing autographs with not complaints. One evening she and Bob went out for a walk and went across the way from the hotel to a restaurant and bar that wound up being a strip club. They had a great time with many of the girls and bouncers recognizing her and Bob. After returning to L.A. she wrote and told me she has taken up pawn shopping as a new hobby. She was such a cool person. Deadly serious when working but so sweet and easy going off set. I would give her quick chair massages sometimes during the long shoot days when her neck and shoulders tightened up. I wound up doing a amateur chiropractic move on her having her wrap her arms around herself and picking her up in a big tight hug. Her whole spine crackled and she was incredibly surprised and pleased, mouth agape and amazed. She said "That was just incredible! I feel so much better!" The whole shoot was like that and it was one of the best times of my professional life. We stayed friends after she went back home and up until her death we wrote and spoke to one another every now and again. I never got to see her again as I didn't make it to L.A. again until after her death but I will always remember that fun spring with new friend until I follow her on that final path as well. What an actress and what a lady.
That was one hell of a story and I enjoyed it. That must have taken you forever to write down and it must have been an amazing experience. Thank you for the information and being classy about it. Sounds like she was too. I've met a lot of famous people in my time living in New Orleans never spent that much time around 1. The coolest one I ever met with Brad Paisley that's been about half an hour with him talking to him after I explained how I recognized that he wasn't real famous at that point. He was opening for George Strait in New Orleans and came into work out with his crew at the gym I was running called French Riviera. He asked me how come I wasn't at the concert that year and I said well my girlfriend's there with her other boyfriend when she was breaking up with that night and they already had tickets and he set down propped up his feet and said I got to hear this story. He even took pictures and called her on the cell phone. He gave me sign shirts and copies of his albums that were all signed by him and his entire crew. Not only was he one of the nicest people I ever met he was the nicest famous person I ever met by far. I would have given anything for her to meet him.! But let's just say it got me a lot of brownie points anyway. When he called my girlfriend she was still at the concert at door straight and got her voicemail so she was able to listen to recording. He said "hey Shannon this is Brad I'm here with your other boyfriend Brian I would have really liked to have met you but maybe next year on to her take care." That's pretty well word for word. Not something you usually forget. He was the most down-to-earth and cool famous guy I never met and still is by far. Only bad thing about it is I'm not with the girl anymore she is the one that got away. Thank you again for sharing your story.
What a great experience you had. I met Elizabeth Montgomery twice. The first time I kissed her on the right cheek with her permission. Robert Foxworth was with her both times I met her, and he was alsonice and down to earth. Thanks for sharing your wonderful story and the things that she shared with you.
Oh yes. Someone who commits adultery is definitely a wonderful person. Also I am sick of these celebrities thinking everyone is interested in their political views. Just do your job as an actor or actress and keep your opinions to yourself. Also, letting that get in the way of your relationship with your parents is disgusting. I have different political views than my parents. We both have the right to whatever we believe in. A heart of gold? Why because she marches in gay parades? OK, then....
First of all, Elizabeth Montgomery didn't go around flaunting her political views. I have a comment from the producer of THE PANAMA DECEPTION who said as much. Secondly, she did much of her charitable work from behind the scenes. She was a very private person. Bill Asher said, in the 1999 A&E special on E.M., that he blamed himself for their marital breakup. Years later, he told Herbie Pilato, E.M.'s biographer, the same thing. He also told him that he had a roving eye for other women. He was also married four times. In my view, a person's private life is their own business, unless they cross the abuse line. We have lost so much privacy in this country and world. I think people should look in the mirror before making judgements. Elizabeth Montgomery had a big heart.
@carinnovick2995 I always thought she was wonderful until I watched a few videos on her. But I do not feel that way anymore. She sounds like an awful leftist. 😢😢😢
I adored her as Samantha the witch when I was a child. In German the Series was named "Verliebt in eine Hexe" which translates into "In love with a witch" - and we all were.
As a young male, I had a bit of a "thing" for her as "Samantha". Now, as a 64 year old man I have an enduring respect and admiration for her as a great human being.

She wasn’t in one Flinstone episode, she was in several episodes. Elizabeth Montgomery was a amazing actress and, she always played a lovable character, even when, she played a evil character she still made herself very likable. She was one of my favorite actresses. She’s very much to be admired.
I have the entire “Bewitched” series on DVD. THAT’S how much I loved Elizabeth Montgomery & her beautiful “Samantha” ❤️ She was magnificent as “Lizzie Borden”. She is missed 😞
@@mrs.dr.spencerreid3992 ... Yes, Dick York. He was one of my favorite actors of all time. But years ago, a friend of mine said that he liked Dick Sargent more. I couldn't believe what he was saying-- York is the best, by a mile.
I had a major crush on her when I was 16 or 17 years old. Elizabeth and Agnes Morehead used to travel by train. They stopped in Albuquerque one day. It was no mistaking Agnes with that red hair. Elizabeth bought some items in the newsstand and brought them to me to total up. I turned bright red and didn't say much. She wore her hair back. It was truly unbelievable to see her in person. I still remember today at age 70.
When I was born in 1965, my mom was a great fan of Bewitch. For years she teased me about how she missed her Bewitch because she went into labor; so for one of her birthdays I sent her the complete TV series as a gift with a note - There now you can watch the one you missed.
I will always love Elizabeth Montgomery💕💖I grew up watching Bewitched and I still do💕💖She was an awesome talented and gorgeous actress and human being, in my heart she will always live❤🌹
A wonderful lady. My mother also died of colon cancer which had spread to her liver (in 2006). She also happened to look a lot like Elizabeth Montgomery--just with dark hair, so a bit like the Serena character. People would sometimes tell her "You look a lot like Samantha from Bewitched."
@@Bodhi1satva I think Joan Blackman looks a little like Serena, which of course was also Elizabeth, but on the scene depicted she has a mischievous grin, added to the dark hair well outlined eyes I can see the mistake.
You are correct she was not in the movie - she might have visited the set but a mistake that big leads me to decide either complete research was not done or many facts were just made up either causes me to put little belief in any of information
What....? Your beliefs are different .... so you don't believe in human and civil rights and just being an understanding kind, good and open-minded person?
My wife is a huge fan of "Bewitched" has recorded so many episodes on DVR and would watch them. In Marathons hours at a time...E.M Is her favorite and was saddened by her death.......RIP
Elizabeth Montgomery was beautiful and class in every show she was in. My favorite actress. And love her TV movies that were always World Premiere events that I looked forward to. This included films "A Case of Rape " The Legend of Lizzie Borden" "A Killing Affair" with OJ Simpson, "The Awakening Land". A couple of her films were directed by the late Boris Sagal father of Katey Sagal from "Married with Children " and the new show "Rebel".
Hello Friends. I’m Brazilian abs have 49y/old. This show was fantastic and I remember I was a little guy who waited in front tv everyday waiting for Samantha.. I loved to see the magics and wanted more and more. She inspired me to try Magic everywhere..LOL. Today I’m a huge fan of movies with fantasy, also, huge Fan the Magic of theme parks where we can feel a little of Magic from movies abs Cartoons.. 😄😄. This show is part of my childhood and keep it in my heart ❤️ with care and affection. Thanks Elizabeth. Congrats Friends, love your channel. Best wishes!! 👏🏻🥰
I fell in love with her as a little kid watching her on Bewitched, and some five decades later I still love her. It's wonderful to hear about her many accomplishments and her great heart and mind.
This was a lovely trip down memory lane for me. I was in elementary school when the series premiered and the next day at recess all of us kids were twitching our noses. Thank you for sharing it with us. But an earlier excellent performance of Montgomery’s left the strongest memory for me. She starred in an episode of the supernatural series”One Step Beyond” entitled “Death Waltz” . This genuinely sweet lady convincingly portrayed the mean, spoiled daughter of an 1870s general who callously sends her fiancé to his death and ends up dancing to death herself with his ghost. I still get chills when I think of the eerie waltz music they played.
I love ❤️ Elizabeth Montgomery , She is awesome in Bewitch show, I saw her in the Intocables with Robert Stack , She was Delightful, Such of great actress, I admired her and she was beautiful too.
I looked forward to watching Bewitched every day. The show was always too short as far as I was concerned. I could easily watch those shows all day long.
As a kid I've seen her on " The Twilight Zone " didn't know who she was , then on " Bewitched " and heard her on the " Flintstones " and just a couple of days ago watched " The Legend of Lizzie Borden " on YT . There's another video of her on stage with Paul Linn " Uncle Author " same show . Their doing a comedic reading Paul is doing well and straight while Elizabeth is falling apart . Great to watch .
She didn’t co-star in Kid Galahad. She wasn’t in the film. She just visited her husband Gig Young on the set. The woman shown on screen with Elvis was Joan Blackman.
I wouldn't agree that she was more successful than her father. He starred in over 60 feature films, was twice elected president of the screen actors guild, was nominated for 2 Oscars, and has 2 stars on the Hollywood walk of fame. She may be more well known to modern audiences because Bewitched has been in constant syndication for the past 50 years. Many of her father's films were pre WW2 and are not widely seen anymore.
Elvis Presley did have a crush on Elizabeth Montgomery as revealed in the book "Still taking care of Business " by a Elvis bodyguard and friend. But they never co-starred in any movies together. I believe Elvis was filming a movie when he met Elizabeth Montgomery. Because she was married at one time to Gig Young Elvis costar in the movie.
I read somewhere that she is a distant relative to Lizzie Borden . Her father was a terrific actor. She obviously took after him.Wish she had done more motion pictures.
I grew up watching her throughout her career, yes, in Puerto Rico. Too young to die with so much to give, talent and love. I’m 62 now and live in the US now.
I grew up watching her also. She was definitely too young to leave us. So much talent. I always loved and looked forward to her movies and intelligence.
My favorite Bewitched episode was in some of the clips. Serena pretends to be Sam and Endora gets a pie in the face at the end. Loved her tv movies in the 70s. Including A Killing Affair. Although I've never watched it since the OJ scandal hoopla
Funny you mention "The Killing Affair". I was living in Atlanta when it was going to air and the local station pulled it and ran something in it's place. Nothing was ever said but it was because of the racial aspect of it since they had an affair in the film. As far as I know that staion never aired it.
I'm 51 years of age. Watching different TV shows & switching the channel. How I started watching Bewitched, I Look a Double Look at such a Classic Beautiful Woman. She was Indeed an attractive woman. RIP Liz Montgomery.
I was in love with her in Bewitched, but I really saw her talent in her portrayal of Lizzie Borden, Its soo amazing that they were 6th cousins, once removed. What a wonderful lady!!!
In retrospect (as an adult) I see how "Bewitched" was very much a protest against "the woman's place is in the home" and how women were expected to stifle their own talents and creativity for the role of pleasing the husband.
I love Elizabeth Montgomery as a wonderful beautiful talented caring human being. I watched Bewitched in the sixties and seventies. I am 60, still watch the episodes on gac family TV. What a hard choice, I enjoyed all of the episodes. Some of my favorites are: Serena strikes again pt. 1& 2, The safe and sane Halloween, My! What big ears you have, Samantha's secret saucer, Playmates, Humbug not to be spoken, Hippy, hippy, hurray. Sam will always be my favorite TV Witch. May her soul rest in peace. 🕊❤🌻
I loved Bewitched! I always got so upset with Darren for yelling at Samantha for using her magic! O and I also have a brother named Darren , named after actor Darren Magavin not sure if spelled right, ! Endora always cracked me up!
My favorite role of hers was in "Amos" with Kirk Diuglas. She was a nurse who ran a nursing home, and was abusive. She coerced the patients to sign over their property to her, after which they conveniently died. Great TV movie with a great ending.
Wow the tears flow as of learning the many Activist things Elizabeth Montgomery was involved with it's almost like she is here with us still and everything she fought for Has been won for in her honor. I watch Bewitched everyday and I can't get enough of her twitching spells and magic...
By far in my opinion, "The Awakening Land" was E.B.s best work and a great project as well. I would rate T.A.L right up with The Patriot, or Gone with the wind.
She truly was great even outside her famous t.v. Bewitched. I can still remember her Astounding performance in "A case of rape" when I was a kid. It broke ground and got major acclaim. As was her performance with O.J. Simpson in a later t.v. film. Funny how much radicoulas fuss was made about the interracial love making thier characters put on screen, which also broke ground way back then - but today is not given 2nd thought.Elizabeth Montgomery was Astounding !
She was great in the movie JENNIFER, starring Bradford Dillman, back in 1979. In fact, Barbara Eden and Elizabeth Montgomery were both two icons of the 1960s. Thank you! Johnny Montréal Canada.
I loved Bewitched, that was one of my favorite shows. Elizabeth Montgomery was great for the part of Samantha.I would twitch my nose ,pretending to be her.
I liked her and everything she did she was pretty pretty awesome The Twilight Zone but she was a consummate performer I'm glad she stood up for the lgbtq she was amazing God Rest Your Soul
When there is like NOTHING bad to say about someone , and they leave THAT much pleasant sentiment and recollection. [not to mention] A NATIONAL STATE PARK, either donated by or dedicated to her (or both) that is rather exceptional and is uncommon and four happy, healthy children. (as well) .....
We love her, every morning I watch an episode of Bewitched Elizabeth’s character Samantha was so positive and kind a bit of Elizabeth coming through her character we will never forget her
What a wonderful woman and a beautiful person. I have read posts from people over the years who were fortunate enough to have met Elizabeth and everyone of them said she was so sweet, and if she had time, she would stop and talk with them or autograph something. As Herbie Pilato, Elizabeth's biographer has said, she was down to earth and wanted to just be regular folk. Elizabeth loved gardening more than attending an event in Hollywood, according to her then husband Robert Foxworth. There was so much more Elizabeth could've done if a cruel disease hadn't taken her. R.I.P. lovely lady.
I absolutely Loved Bewitched Watched every one Would Watch now Elizabeth Montgomery was Truly Beautiful I always said growing up that I would call my Daughter Samantha Anyway I ended up called her Rebecca funny that as She has a Daughter, Rebecca Wonderful
Just a small correction...Elizabeth Montgomery didn't costar with Elvis in Kid Galahad...Gig Young did. Elvis met her when she came to visit Gig Young on the set. Elvis's female costar in Kid Galahad was the same one he had in Blue Hawaii: Joan Blackman.
@@janetberruex3165 Thank-you! I take it you're a fan as well! My Mom is actually the biggest Elvis fan in the family. My Dad has teased her that she has more pictures of Elvis than of her kids. (Not quite true...but almost ;) So growing up, I have seen all of the movies multiple times. Multiple. Have a great day and stay safe!
Hey, I never do this, but I have to correct cause I just saw this on tv. That wasn’t EM in kid Galahad. I don’t remember the actresses name but it wasn’t Elizabeth Montgomery.
Also... The beach movie thing she played a witch.. And she touched her nose.... Her father on that movie wasn't the same way the TV show.. Her name and character were different.....

She wasn’t in one Flinstone episode, she was in several episodes. Elizabeth Montgomery was a amazing actress and, she always played a lovable character, even when, she played a evil character she still made herself very likable. She was one of my favorite actresses. She’s very much to be admired.
Not true, she was only in one Flintstones episode.
Elizabeth Montgomery was ALWAYS a favorite of mine; on camera as well as off! She was truly an incredible woman!
Hello Tara, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the Virus??
I was totally in love with her as a kid, there has never been a more beautiful woman IMHO 💕
I have the entire “Bewitched” series on DVD. THAT’S how much I loved Elizabeth Montgomery & her beautiful “Samantha” ❤️
She was magnificent as “Lizzie Borden”. She is missed 😞
Can I ask you a question?
Which Darren did you like better... Dick Sargent, or Dick York?
@@marcusrex77 ~ Definitely Dick York. And you?
@@mrs.dr.spencerreid3992 ... Yes, Dick York. He was one of my favorite actors of all time. But years ago, a friend of mine said that he liked Dick Sargent more.
I couldn't believe what he was saying-- York is the best, by a mile.

I Truly love Elizabeth Montgomery, Bewitched TV show was Such A classic, I can still watch it today and find it still entertaining
Me, too!
That’s sweet ❤️
tell her its streaming on the Roku app as well
Could have waited a few hours rofl
I will always love Elizabeth Montgomery💕💖I grew up watching Bewitched and I still do💕💖She was an awesome talented and gorgeous actress and human being, in my heart she will always live❤🌹
A wonderful lady. My mother also died of colon cancer which had spread to her liver (in 2006). She also happened to look a lot like Elizabeth Montgomery--just with dark hair, so a bit like the Serena character. People would sometimes tell her "You look a lot like Samantha from Bewitched."
A dated a woman who reminded me of EM (and she practiced White Magic).
Elizabeth Montgomery was such a cutie during the Bewitched era. 😍 Continue to rest in paradise Elizabeth.💕
She was not in Kid Galahad with Elvis. That was Joan Blackman. She was great on Password very smart woman
Very big screw up! I mean all you have to do is Google it!
@@larryschultz1681 or look, they look nothing alike! lol
@@Bodhi1satva I think Joan Blackman looks a little like Serena, which of course was also Elizabeth, but on the scene depicted she has a mischievous grin, added to the dark hair well outlined eyes I can see the mistake.
I didn't think that was her!
You are correct she was not in the movie - she might have visited the set but a mistake that big leads me to decide either complete research was not done or many facts were just made up either causes me to put little belief in any of information
I too loved her as Samantha in Bewitched.....

I loved her TV show. Tabatha was so cute. I was so sad when she passed on. What a great actress!
I loved every episode of "Bewitched" !
I have just watched Elizabeth Montgomery as Lizzie Borden, and have wanted for some time to watch Bewitched, now I kNOW I want to watch it !
I fell in love with her as a little kid watching her on Bewitched, and some five decades later I still love her. It's wonderful to hear about her many accomplishments and her great heart and mind.
Hello Dear, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the Virus??

I looked forward to watching Bewitched every day. The show was always too short as far as I was concerned. I could easily watch those shows all day long.
Like the actress herself, her life truly was bewitching.💗
Well she was a good actress. How are you doing dear. Hope you are safe from the crazy Covid?
She was my first favorite actress and I adored her in Bewitched. I am a Filipina and was born in 1954. I miss her and her show to this day.♥️
Thank you for this. I never knew that much about my favorite witch. She was truly magical.
Thank you miss Montgomery for your contributions to the world and its people you will always be remembered with love....

Having Elizabeth as the befuddled character with Uncle Arthur was a brilliant stroke!
What a wonderful, beautiful soul. She touched so many lives and governed so many causes. May she rest in peace.

She was great in the '63 film Johnny Cool, and on the Untouchables...
Johnny Cool is where Elizabeth Montgomery met her future husband, director William Asher.
Such a retro show .. you just feel immersed in the era when you watch it! 💕⌛✨
And we love retro!!

That Episode of T-Zone she did ('Two') is one of my favorites! Pryekrasnyy!
Bewitched was my favorite. I enjoyed learning more about her from this video.
This is a very good episode please do an episode extensively on the honeymooners and it’s cast, thank you
I wouldn't agree that she was more successful than her father.
Yeah he's in a lot of movies on TCM.
Loved her with Charlie Bronson in that Twilight Zone episode.
Me too
She did not co star w Elvis in Kid Galahad. It was her ex husband, Gig Young who was in the movie w Elvis
The narrator is incorrect, Joan Blackman co-starred with Elvis Presley and gig Young, not Elizabeth Montgomery
Well good for you girl 👏
I grew up watching her also. She was definitely too young to leave us. So much talent. I always loved and looked forward to her movies and intelligence.
I will forever be a fan of Elizabeth Montgomery, aka Samantha Stephens.
RIP Liz Montgomery.

got to finally watch that seris as a adult..i remeber as a child we randomly got to wach it aa a child came on at ten pm
Thanks for this, I have been binge watching bewitched on IMDB, so perfect timing.
She kept doing some great projects in the 70s for TV like the remake of Dark Victory and The Awakening with Hal Holbrick! Very talented.
I was in love with her in Bewitched, but I really saw her talent in her portrayal of Lizzie Borden, Its soo amazing that they were 6th cousins, once removed. What a wonderful lady!!!
I'm far more impressed by her actions off screen, what a wonderful woman.
In retrospect (as an adult) I see how "Bewitched" was very much a protest against "the woman's place is in the home" and how women were expected to stifle their own talents and creativity for the role of pleasing the husband.
Hello Chrissy, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the Virus??
I’ve been in love with her since childhood. She had an amazing personality and was so beautiful.
Hello Kim, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the Virus??
I loved Bewitched! I always got so upset with Darren for yelling at Samantha for using her magic!
O and I also have a brother named Darren , named after actor Darren Magavin not sure if spelled right, !
Endora always cracked me up!
I think if Darrin were all for her magical powers, it may not have been as funny or entertaining.
Not really. Making it so people who disagree with you because of fear of reprisal is digression.
She was beautiful lady had crush on her now am 65 yrs great memories rip god bless
By far in my opinion, "The Awakening Land" was E.B.s best work and a great project as well. I would rate T.A.L right up with The Patriot, or Gone with the wind.
