Kate! Can't describe how lucky we felt meeting you and having you as our spontaneous guide. So many great memories and clearly from the comments everyone loves you singing!! Can't wait for the album :)
You’re so incredibly talented!
Follow your dreams.
your singing was otherworldly! hope you follow up on your dreams and publish an album
Your voice is absolutely beautiful! It’s such a pleasure to listen to, thanks for sharing it with us!
ok
as an astrophysics major, when he said his name was Jay Lockman, my jaw literally dropped, you guys met someone who I could only ever dream of meeting
Why only dream of it? 🤔
Looks like you just need to hang around the parking lot to meet him!
doesn't look like its very hard to meet him and he seems quite friendly haha. make that dream come true XD
It's a dream because you may be an introvert?😂
Tasmanian here. My father once worked for/with Grote Reber. He came here to Tas to get as far away from low frequency radio waves as possible…(stuff below 30MHz)…where the ionosphere was reflective. On very long, cold winter noghts the ionodphere would neutralize eniugh for him to “see out” at 1MHz. (AM radio band frequency). His Telescope was a phased affay of dipoles, phasing allower for N-S beam directing and for E-W directing he just used the Earth’s rotation.
This was all at Denouston, a sheep grazing property just north east of Bothwell, where Grote had built his Passive Solar House. All his gear ran from batteries and the older stiff used 1 volt valves, 1T4’s and the like. He showed me the head amp from his first dish from Illnois, it was sll point to point and had two 955 acorn valves in it. At Denouston, he used sodium tetraborate around the bases of the poles of his phased array to keep the insects and other lifeforma from rotting them off st ground level. The statement in the video about “cow poo and low noise amps” was also very evident at Grote’s site.
Later, when I was at Uni, we had to buy this text book for Astronomy, think the suthor was Abell, and had a pucture of Centarus A on the cover I recall….after I got it, i just opened in randomly in the middle…as you do…and there was a pictire of Grote as a chapter heading….I knew where he had sn office, sbout 2Km away, so I took the book there to show him. When he saw the pucture in the book, he said in his mild Illinois accent, “Oh yeah, this one was in 1962!” And he signed his name across it and put the date of the pucture on it….I had not asked him to do this, he just did it of his own volition. That book is now a treasured possession now he has been passed these 22 years. Could tell loads of stories about him, like the time he burned my mothers apple slice, or “buried” my brother in sacks of sodium tetraborate…but that’t for another day.
Jay Lockman has many similar personality trats to Grote, “they know thsy are ‘famous’ but they downply it to the maxx” and a really humble, logical and polite and have lots of diverse interests….like the Messherschmidt three wheeler car in his bathroom! I’m really glad i knew Grote reber, pity more of the modern generation don’t know of him and use him as a role model….the worl would be a far better place.
This was truly one of those “let’s see how this goes” type of episodes. No plan and this time not even any service/internet the whole time to contact anyone.. We just aimed to arrive with the most open energy and some intentions of what we were seeking and somehow everything just lined up in ways that confused even us. Blessed to have met Kate, Daphna and Jay Lockman who all blew us away with their kindness and stories. We hope you all enjoyed the adventure as much as we did 🙏
Y’all are truly the best at this 👌🎥

I've only gotten to like 5 and a half minutes in but I already love both of those ladies so much. They are just so warm and welcoming.
Kate embodies all the truly beautiful things about Appalachia. Wear your heart on your sleeve, be open and caring and treat everyone like your own. I wish nothing but the best for her
As an old man it's amazing how small decisions in your life change your life entirely. When I was 19, with no money, I decided to go around the world! It happened and changed my life.

I’ll say what you’re all thinking, why is this the most beautiful girl that we’ve seen? 🤷🏻♂️

As a Gen X, what I find most entertaining about this quiet zone is that this is largely how we grew up before the 90s. Paper maps, no phones, no internet, we did have TV and cable, but you wrote everything down, and you lived in the present with those who were literally around you in the moment. You had landlines and tried to stretch that phone cord all the way from the kitchen to your room where you shut the door, line underneath, and hoped your siblings and parents couldnt hear you talking to your boyfriend. Real books, bikes, etc. Hearing this called old fashioned or treated like some foreign concept is boggling and interesting.
That's a fact. It crazy to see how fascinated they are to be where there is no internet 😂
I want to go back to those times.
@JonnyQest666 yes, and your name reminded me of those Johnny Quest shows. Those were great
“While we were downloading maps before we went offline” I blurted out ‘just buy a paper map?!’
I came to the comments to say just this. This brings back memories of traveling around on family vacations in the 80s. Our generation is the last, or close to it, that will still remember life before the Internet.
Born and raised I WV my entire 45 yrs. Kate sings so perfectly. Irish/Appalachia. Made me teary-eyed. Great episode. TY for visiting my home.

The Scots Irish are everywhere 👍🏻
Ah.. I was wondering why does the Appalachian mountain song has Irish accent. No wonder.
@@pk3 Irish and Scots were basically shoved into the hills of West Virginia. it was the only land that was "left" to give to people during the time and thats why we are known for being impoverished and uneducated. The stigma the scots irish already had before settling in the states was exactly that. Irish people weren't even considered white for a long time, but their own race. Obviously, they were white, but it was a prejudice against the Irish people that other white Europeans had, ONLY other white Europeans, to make that clear. Too poor and uneducated to be considered white. A lot of Irish people immigrated to the US, because of how impoverished they were in their home country. Especially if there was more than one child, the oldest would be the only one to have a leg up in life, because they would ultimately inherit their family home and land. The younger ones had to do what they could to get by after that. A big reason why there were so many Irish on the Titanic, it boarded in Belfast, first. There is a documentary about the Irish who were lost to the Titanic. Feel free to fact check me on some of this, my memory is not what it used to be, and I try my best to fact check myself when responding. Just be kind about it, because I enjoy sharing knowledge that none of us are born with and I also enjoy learning from others with respect to one another.
@@Legionnaire7777 Scots Irish is a language serparate from Irish Irish (Gaeilge). You're either Scottish, or Irish.
I can't beleive Yes Theory came to Appalachia. I've lived in these mountains my whole life and we tend to get a lot of stereotypes put on us, like being poor and uneducated. So it really warms my heart to see you guys show the real side of Appalachians.
They're showing uneducated people, I'm still waiting for peer reviewed research on "electro sensitivity".
We heard about the stereotypes before going and it was even a person who “warned” us. What we met was truly something special. We can’t wait to be back 🫶
@@JakkeJakobsen It's weird watching people within geographical deadzones complain about people outside those deadzones. They're entirely unaware of the world around them, and why people think what they think about them. Theres a reason why a lot of those states vote a certain way, and it's because of the geography and what they're exposed to. They know what they know, so they think they're educated and informed; while remaining blissfully ignorant of everything else.
@@Smootierimagine having the audacity to respond to someone’s RUclips comment basically telling them they are dumb and come from a land surrounded by dumb people who are ignorant and don’t know what is good for them in elections, etc. In terms of thoughts to keep to yourself, that’s right near the top.
If anything this perpetrated my beliefs on you guys being uneducated and living up to stereotypes because you guys absolutely are 😂
This was the coolest thing I’ve ever seen on RUclips. Not even exaggerating.
The old fashioned way of meeting people, the realness of the people. Man, this is just so very cool!
There's some cool videos like the gov help set up an alarm at a cabin with a directional antenna for a fire alarm.
How life should be right
9:46. Wish she had sung more. So beautiful
WV is so underrated. God fearing, Salt of the Earth ppl. I know exactly where this is. My dad was born very close to there.
I have family in other Appalachian areas who live this way. They didn’t decide to live that way. They are STUCK! There are no opportunities, education is unbelievably, let’s say, subpar.
Don’t get me wrong, I love visiting and quiet time and slowing down. But we really need to stop romanticizing being poor.
My wife's father, Charles Potts, served a United Methodist parish of 6 churches the year the National Radio Observatory began construction. My wife and her brothers all got to roam and play in that area growing up. They still return to the area to hunt and fish.
This is a well-done video, sensitive to the people, and exposes others to West Virginia's range of beauty and possibilities.

Watching this, my husband and I couldn’t stop saying “Wow this looks so much like Northern Ireland!” (Where we live) and the music that she sang sounds SO Irish. With a little deep diving, we discovered that the Appalachian mountain range used to be connected to Scotland, Ireland and Wales before Pangea split up and when settlers from the above moved to America, they especially liked it there because it looked so much like home hence the Celtic music influence. Mind blown 🤯
100%! American Music history is fascinating. I took a couple classes on it in college just for fun and they were easily my favorite. So many emotions and stories passed down through music.
thanks for sharing this comment! absolutely mind-opening!
I'm from here and never really made this connection... I've looked at pictures, always wanted to travel to Ireland, given my last name is Irish. And I always thought it looked like here, but this just confirms it for me, thank you!
Thank you for sharing this because I was wondering why her singing sounded like it had Irish influence
It really does look like home to us Welsh, Irish and Scottish doesn't it 😊. I live in Finland now and it's so flat, I miss the mountains and valleys and the rugged undulating countryside expanses

That incredible band you met is Juanita Fireball and the Continental Drifters! It’s my friend Jonny’s parents and their friends. They’re not just any Appalachian Old Time band, but truly one of the most beloved old time bands in the region. I’ve been to many late night porch pickin’ sessions with them, and their son is the one who taught me how to play old time clawhammer banjo (the unique style of banjo playing they’re using)❤
that is so cool! all these connections for ppl, amazjng!
This video randomly popped up on my homepage and OH my god I am glad it did. Everything fell in place perfectly, from meeting Kate and then ending up meeting Jay (probably one of the most important people in his field of work), to ending up back at his house and the Kate getting to play music with him. Me and my dad happened upon this place 20 yrs ago while doing our annual motorcycle trip. It was a drizzly day and kinda eerie to see this looking down the road way ahead of us. I'll never forget it. @@donnamays24 Same,, I live in Washington State near Seattle. I've been a fan of the music Miss Kate sang and when she started singing,, I broke down and cried too.WHY did that happen? I don't know.Perhaps the quality of her voice, the way she sang the words most likely it was the way she met the guys - totally by weird accident - then having her guide the guys around the "Quiet Zone" and discover her amazing talent. She being willing to sing in front of the world,, the entire experience simply blew my mind. My soul felt better.
EDIT: At the end of the film my mind went into overload when we were treated to only a moment of the group playing and singing,, then a second of two of Miss Kate adding her wonderful voice. I join all others who HOPE we get to hear the group WITH Miss Kate woven among them,, what an amazing treat that would be,, WAIT! The guys have talked her into starting her own RUclips channel,, perhaps our hopes will come to fruition and we'll get to learn more about this!! 🙂

Sir, this is a no simp zone.
it really calls back to the origins of the people of appalacia... the whole area was originally colonized by Irish and Scottish immigrants during our country's founding and that style of music is a quintessential part of Irish and Scottish culture. The people in the area are usually DIRECT descendants of the original settlers so its basically a direct lineage back to the homeland.

Of course you all would go to my hometown and literally meet the group of people that formed my childhood. Many nights were spent in that house doing exactly that with the Lockmans and everyone else. Seeing my friends parents in a yes theory video is pretty wild. Sad I wasn’t there to meet you all but honestly you met the best group of people you could have hoped for.

I worked for a company that did maintenance for the Green Bank Telescope. Me and like 4 other guys went down for a week and stayed in a house like 10 minutes away from the telescope. Thank you guys for coming to West Virginia! I was born and raised here (Charleston) and watching the drive brought back so many wonderful childhood memories. My dad had an uncle who lived not far from Green Bank (Arborvale, I believe is the name). Seeing the telescope was always amazing to me. And also, thank you for showing the people, who are true West Virginians, not ignorant, toothless, and barefoot as so many are commenting. The history of Appalachia itself is unique- and finding people who are proud and more than happy to say, "This is my home," and mean it -it's born within us- is rare. Please come back- you were both kind, considerate and I do believe surprised- the stereotypes are not the full story. You found a hidden, misunderstood gem- and it's our entire state.

I live in Appalachians in VA, and growing up I was introduced to a couple who lived way back in middle of nowhere off the grid, he made his own solar, and batteries, water, everything was self sufficient, the had hundreds of satellite dishes everywhere though, in trees, ground, top of buildings. Inside his house he had a large office that had computers and screens wrapped around, and flow charts all over the walls, boxes of printed paper codes, he was actually one of the pioneers of the computer age, and invented certain types of coding, and this was in the 90s at the dawn of the Internet, he wrote most codes for Microsoft, and would send it via sat to whoever, he did walk me through what he did, and it was over my head mostly, and I was in college for Information systems technology, so he had been a computer prodigy from the 70s, and had all the technology, sat phone, and things in mid late 90s. I'm thinking that lots of brilliant ppl live like that in these so called quiet zones

Wow. This is my first Yes Theory. It really involves everything that I love, radio, astronomy, music, social interaction. When Kate sang it gave me goosebumps all over my body. Och till Thomas och Staffan, ursäkta uttrycken, men fasen vilka sköna snubbar ni är! Att ni på något sätt fick ödet att stråla ihop Kate och Jay är så jäkla bra!
Kate is as a mystery in the mountains! A wonderful voice you can hear from far away and her beauty which spreads through the mountain rivers. Her hair which shines in the sun and blinds you a little bit but always just a little to far to reach! A great energy and good vibes, keep on the good vibes with the songs. And for everyone don't forget to spread a little love, we all need it! ❤️
You should be writing songs yourself!
@@loosiluThanks for that, I appreciate that! I do write quite a lot when my brain is tickling because all the impression around me. It gives me the feeling that I can be free without any limitations.
Eek u gucci lol😅
Wow beautiful 😍 oh just lush ❤️
"when my brain is tickling"...loving it!.
Not from the quiet zone but West Virginia native here. Left the area for job opportunity but still visit family there often. Thank you for showcasing our little slice of heaven. The part where you guys are looking out over the mountains just struck a cord with me and reminds me how beautiful that state is. Will always be a fan of your content and positivity. God bless!
Ironic to stumble upon this journey into "Never-tech-land", via RUclips and my smartphone. Perhaps the way back home to our roots is shorter than we could have imagined. Power down, log off, and head for the woods...
This was so wholesome! The way things fall into place for you guys, and often for the new friends you meet along the way, never ceases to amaze me. This is what it looks like to choose love over fear, adventure over isolationism, and YES over no. I always take at least one thing away from your videos that I can improve about the way I live and love, and I have so much gratitude for the opportunity that you provide to recognize how I can do a little better with each passing day. Kate is such a uniquely delightful person and talented singer - I hope she continues to follow her dream and shine her light everywhere she goes. The YES family really is a special group of people.
This was one of the best videos I've ever seen on YT. You entered an emf free zone and ended up meeting the most amazing people. That says a lot about intuition, intention and the greater mysteries of the cosmos than you were probably planning, but that came across in the video loud and clear. And the fact you met a huge fan since she was TWELVE years old to be your guide, who was the undercover musician...just amazing to witness it all unfold..Would love to hear more of her spellbinding voice that carries into eternity. And as someone who had EMF (EMR/EHS) illness for many years, which sent me into isolation and a lifestyle away from people, their iphones (flip phones didn't have the same effect on me), wifi and cities with cell towers I am so fascinated to learn more about the health benefits to those who suffer from this who've gone to live in Green Bank and to visit for a kind of off grid retreat there one day to see how I feel in such a zone. Would you guys consider going back for another video or a series of them on this topic? While studying space in that zone has its obvious reasons, I can't help but ask where are the Green Bank researchers studying the health effects of EMF illness? This is the disease of technology wrecking havoc on modern civilization that is being misdiagnosed as everything but the root cause.
The "old man" advice at the end really was on point. What an amazing sentiment.
I don't usually comment in videos, and have watched this channels content off and on for several years... I can't get enough of this video, and loved every second of it. My fathers side of the family hails from this area, and I haven't been to this place, but I could absolutely use a tech cleansing. Thanks for the great video, and showcasing the music and the beautiful people that welcomed you.
This just randomly popped up in my feed but I’m really glad it did. Really unexpected fascinating and inspiring video in every respect.
Me too! And now I'm bursting with the awesomeness of wonderful people. What a great video:)
I was trying to find something to fall asleep to and this just popped up in mine, needless to say I didn't fall asleep to it 😊 I didn't even know this channel existed before but I'm so thankful it decided to enter my little world.❤
Same here. It was put in my feed today and I am so glad it was!
My mom used to work for NRAO at The University of Virginia, back in the 70s. Our family had the opportunity to visit Green Bank and your story brought back a lot of wonderful memories! I still have pictures of the telescopes from back then. Thank you for sharing! I can’t wait to show this video to her!
As a representative of pre-internet humanity, this brought a few tears to my eyes. This is what 'social' used to mean.
Yes I had many times in my childhood where I would just turn up unannounced at a friend's house to see if they were free.
Green Bank still has internet access. Just not cellular service or wifi routers. Fixed, wireline service is common.
YES :). Our reality way back then. lol.
Please help voice your opinion to keep the quiet zone quiet. As you've prob heard, there is an initiative to loosen restrictions for the sake of "safetey". This is a unique place in the US and should be preserved.
I work for a company and we organise self-drive tours through Namibia and Botswana. In the routes we plan there are many places without any internet connection. Last year i went on a educational tour and that disconnection is exactly like he said. You take a while but then realise there is no connection so you start connecting with the world around you. Truly a amazing experience!
I thoroughly enjoy vids from african villages!

As someone who has grown up within an hour of this area, I moved away after college and quickly moved back. It's great to see the history and culture being shown. Yew Theory was beyond respectful and genuinely excited. I'm now a ultra marathon runner who loves running this area. There's nothing like being disconnected from everything. Thanks for the video!

This is one of the most thought-provoking videos I have ever watched. An exploration of outer and inner spaces simultaneously. Tremendous. Off the beaten path. Refreshing.
Welcome to our home. After working as a computer analyst all over the country I moved here 22 years ago. It was my families area for many years prior. Thanks for the very well done story that shows why I moved back here. You guys would be a great fit if you ever wanted to come back. Thanks
do you have interntet with out wifi?
@@Johnmonty85 Wired internet is allowed. No Wi-Fi, cell towers or microwave. There are two trucks that patrol to enforce. Thx
Oh young ones, there are NO COINCIDENCES IN THESE MOUNTAINS! When you leave technology alone and come here your life blossoms and you remember where you came from! Welcome welcome welcome to the real world forgotten! Enjoyed this and your excitement!!! Well done!
Kate sings so well, i hope all her dreams come true, the sound is remarkable, also tomas and steffan you both are pretty great and respectful, take care my friends.
Kate is such an artist. And thank you buddy, likewise to you!
It sounded very much like an old Irish song!
What a serendipitous adventure! I love that there are no coincidences in this universe. We encounter other people for a reason whether we know it or not. ❤
I'm originally from WV, thank you for showing WV in such a positive light. You guys need to include Kate in more videos.
Her singing was beautiful
fullll body chills when Kate started singing 💞 incredible video once again, YT!
i started tearing up
This may be the best video I've ever seen on YT.
Thank y'all for making it, introducing us to these good folks who live in and around the Quiet Zone and to them for sharing some of their lives with the rest of us.
My maternal grandfather was a West Virginia native, from VERY Appalachian (Elizabethan) roots. His surname was Clark, his mother's was Morgan. Experiencing the Quiet Zone through your video provides me with a small idea of what parts of his parents' and family's lives may have been like. He was born in 1901.
I live just a couple miles away in WV. This feature of our beautiful state and the beautiful and kind culture brought tears to my eyes. I also had no idea you could go visit the Green Bank Observatory. I'm so stunned and thrilled! Thanks for coming and visiting!
Where/what is the last hotel/inn they stayed in?
Is a great place!!!!
I am from the Quiet Zone and gutted I missed y’all! So glad to see our area highlighted in such a special way 🎉❤

@@patrickthebaptist-sharingt428 yes I understand about RF but wasn't sure how they could be there, have missed them and post to YT, which is on the internet obviously. Must of just moved away to be solemn over missing them I suspect, internet is a powerful magnet!
YES! Kate is singing "Barbara Allen", Jean Ritchie's version, in a wonderful approximation of her style! Gorgeous
I thought I recognised it. Frank Turner sings a version on one of his albums.
I love how genuine and real the interactions are here. I want to spend time here to remember what life was like before social media and cell phones.
happy to see you showing appalachia .. the moutains that raised me i started to cry hearing her sing.. the music runs deep in my bones
That VOICE!!! GOOSEBUMPS...I Love mountain music and she killed it...brought me back in time ❤
This actually made me cry. I love the energy there and the way you guys helped her achieve her ambition. The beauty and the people are so open. How lovely.
these guys are so kind when they offered to give her the professional mic and camera i almost cried
Just to clear it up- WiFi is not banned in the entire National Radio Quiet Zone, just in and around green bank. Theres a ski resort just around the corner and you can get cell service (poorly) and wifi there.
And internet should also be present in that scientist's office. Otherwise, how's he gonna do research on his computers?
If I am not mistaken they use fiber optic and Ethernet for internet access. Just no WiFi. They also can use landline for calls
@@DiarioCarnivoro Ethernet I assume
Also, starlink probably works there.
@@lam8138 That makes sense. So it's not that they don't have internet, but just no wifi and cellphone service. I guess they also have telephones, inside their homes. So, it would be like we all used to live in the 90s.. Damn, these videos are so clickbaity.
The way the local man was surprised to hear Sweden, has my heart. The way he said that's a far way from home was so adorable
I love how respectful and kind you guys are. People like this are welcome literally anywhere on earth because its so universally recognized and appreciated. This was an awesome video!
It's a bitter sweet feeling to watch this episode. I worked in Bartow (15 minutes away from the Green Bank) for 2 summer in a row, at summer camp. I explored all around and have been to Green Bank as well. I remember driving there for the first time, I was driving from NY and even though I was notified that I will loose connection upon arrival, I didn't imagine this place being so remote. I remember getting close to the camp and making backup plans in my head in case it's a beginning of a horror movie ahah. Even though I had wifi in a cabin, my screen time was less than 2 hours. living the "real" life it differently refreshing experience. The bitterness I feel it's that silly feeling of "why not me", while I see the clips of the roads I was driving on back and forwards. Love your content, always makes me happy. Thank you!
Ok I never expected to see a YES Theory video in Appalachia! I live so close to here!!!
That quiet zone is awesome for an outdoors vacation. You can rent a cabin and just disconnect for a week.
You can do that anywhere simply by turning your phone off.
@@rztrzt uh, kind of missing the point no??
@@davidharris9092 Nope, you can disconnect anywhere, I do it when I go away for a weekend or more. I don't need to drive to area with radio silence to achieve that. I live a few hours drive away from a SKA location which also has radio silence, I'm not gonna drive there to disconnect when I can simply turn my phone off.

Her boss asking her if she wanted to go was so cute. Good boss/mama bear

I love that you guys are exploring parts of America, and the East Coast region... there is so much history, culture, and natural beauty there. As someone who has lived around the world and all over the US from coast to coast, and who currently lives in the Appalachian foothills, it is an underappreciated part of America with so much to experience.
I had never heard of you or seen your channel until just now. This was the most uplifting thing I have watched in so, so long. With sad world events and people despising each other for no good reason, I've become cynical almost to the point of despairing. Seeing Kate light up around you and melt at your offer of a microphone made me smile inside and out. You guys are wonderful. I pursued a career in musical performance before switching to engineering. I wish I hadn't listened to people who said I'd never make it, and I wish I had listened to professors and peers who knew I would have. I so relate to being afraid to post anything on social media. Even leaving comments makes me feel that way. For this reason, I rarely read any replies. Also, it's worth noting that I'm 1/3 Swedish by ancestry. Thank you, gents. You give me hope.
I'm 99% sure I've ran into Kate before. My friends and I had gone caving in the area and decided to eat at Highs in Monterey afterwards. On the way out, we passed someone who looks exactly like her loading stuff into a car and we exchanged hellos as we walked past - she seemed super sweet. Such a small world we live in!
Were you go caving up at Hamilton / New Trout? Hamilton cave was a terrifying labyrinth lol
First rule of caving is to never go to a cave
@@roboticdart6138 Nope, we were poking around Sharps which is near Snowshoe. Although funny you say that, I was actually just at Hamilton this past Saturday - that place was incredibly confusing haha. Conquered the airblower too!
Franklin has wonderful caves.
Holy crap, that library in that hotel is AMAZING!
This was one of the best, if not the best, video you guys have ever made. The whole theme was just amazing.
We moved this year from the city to a tiny village and it is so lovely. No noise, fresh air, a garden.
Thank you for sharing! I am so grateful I found you all and watched. Love you all! ❤
This is epitome of why I watch Yes Theory. Experiences that are interesting and delightful and that reaffirm the notion of the best of us are ordinary and extraordinary people are the same and we all contain multitudes. Fantastic job guys.
Yes, they feature places that most people have not heard of or have not gone to. I learn new things every time I watch one of their videos.
Wow, this was the first video I've seen of yours. I really enjoyed how genuine and open minded you were about learning and participating in this community, especially as someone from outside of the U.S. I think the disposable film camera shots were my favorite part. And I loved the parallel you drew of the scientist exploring our world's future and the distant galaxies by day, and preserving America's past through music by night. I wouldn't have thought of that on my own.
Big fan. people like yall really give inspiration and hope to the others. You not only have the story but the message as well which will stay on the internet hopefully forever. And people after 100's of years will watch this and get inspired to seek more
My hope, is that people 100 years from now will watch these stories as uplifting time-capsules for humanity 🙏
Re-filling my "hope chest" as we in LA await the end to our horrific fires. Glad the algorithm brought you by! Really appreciate your energy.
I have been driving through this township for over 5+ years and had no clue about the quiet zone in the surrounding area. I always travel through to go to Snowshoe resort, now that I think about it the 2 hours of no service makes sense. Love the video
Been going to snowshoe for close to 25 years. Even when cell phones came out there was no service on the mountain. It’s been only recently…maybe the last 7-8 years where they put up small cell towers around the snowshoe village.
Such a fan of Appalachian music! I wish this video was twice as long and had a lot more of Kate singing. Bravo team
Should we release it on Instagram? She sang two songs for us but we only kept one!

So much packed in one video. Lockman, what a wonderful and intelligent guy that gave you guys the time of day. Kate is cutie with gentle soul, amazing voice and unique ideals for her age. Kate's boss is a lovely and protective lady. The area itself is so interesting and gives off a very different type of energy.
