    No car is perfect, but for what I wanted...the Shelby GT350R is nearly flawless. I absolutely love this car, but there are a couple minor issues/complaints I have with it, most of which I can easily address. Things like exhaust valves, hood struts, new wheels and tires and a couple other minor modifications will let me personalize the car and tailor it to exactly how I plan on using this car! I was going to title this video "X things I hate about my Shelby GT350R"...but that's really not accurate because there is not a single thing that I truly hate about this car. Stay tuned for my 350R videos, starting with some POV and exhaust noises, hoping to make a nice cinematic feature and keep sharing the ownership experience with all of you!

    Eddie, I like your enthusiasm with this car... One thing... I keep hearing about people complaining about the car being equipped with the prop rod instead of hood struts... THE PROP ROD IS A RACE CAR THING! It only makes sense that they went with it for this car. Growing up in short track ASA racing in the midwest, I immediately identified with it as a typical weight-saving factor like everything else. Also don't forget that the hood is aluminum and the engineers may not have wanted a pivot point for the struts on that hood... Anyway, keep them coming and don't stop what you're doing...

    back in '18 there was a dealer locally that had a LFG R (black roof, no stripes) selling for 50% adm (sticker $70k, $35k adm, asking $105k). absurd. it sold for $90k still. anyway, your body panels arent bad at all. good move on switching out the wheels and saving them and the cup2s for track. and be careful, if you stick with motorcraft oil the amsoil boys will flame you lol

    Eddie, I too had been seeking an R for a couple of years. I acquired a E92 slicktop M3 with about 32K miles about a year ago, so that kind of kept me busy while I looked. Finally found a 2017 with 31 miles, (31 miles) on the east coast of Fl. I jumped on it! White, blue strips with red, drove it the 130 miles back to Naples Fl. varied the speed had a little under 4K RPM fun. I too am buying a set of replica wheels, with the Michelins you suggested. I had just sold my 66 GT350 race car, so I wanted to stay in the hobby, even at almost 62!

      The overall weight and feel has it much closer to a SS 1LE. GT3 is around 3250 vs 3700 lbs. C6 Z06 has issues like most cars but weight is more inline with a GT3. 2006-2010 Z06 models were under 3200lbs fully loaded and fuel. Ford did a good job on most fronts but missed out on some key areas.

    Nice video. I agree with most of your comments. My biggest gripe is that they placed the tach on the left-hand side of the instrument display instead of the right-hand side. The Boss has it in the right spot, on the right, so that it is easy to see at a glance. And, ford did not give you the option of having the tach show up digitally in the center like the speedometer. Oh well, that's engineers for you.

    All you need are exhaust valve simulators to keep the valves open all the time. You are still able to toggle through the modes on the steering wheel. I have them in my 18 GT350 and they work great. You have to make sure you install them while the car is running and the valves are fully open. My cold starts sound amazing and you still have the great exhaust sound in 6th gear.

    So in 2019 I traded my 2015 Z/28 for a GT350. I could have gotten the R, but the cost of replacing the wheels if they got damaged and hating the rear wing is why I didn’t get the R. These are the best manual American drivers cars. Funny thing I did end up scratch my right rear wheel, so lesson learned.

    Eddie another excellent video, I agree with you on everything you said. Like I mentioned prior video carbon wheels are great but because of how expensive & cost to replace/repair your better off taking them off and going with aftermarket it's no brainer. Also consider taking off the stripes the car will look better IMO. Yes those tires are good for everyday use, also you need a big tire in back anyways with that power going to rear end.

    Three things I don’t like about the GT350:
    1. wheel/tire gap with the fenders
    2. car is too heavy
    3. Coefficient drag. I know front end nose style is part of the signature of the Mustang but I guess there are compromises.

    Congrats on the car, it is awesome, but if You cant run the oem wheels, because it would cost too much to replace if / when they brake, then maybe the car is too much for Your budget or it's not for You in the first place.

    • @EddieX
      @EddieX  4 года назад +1

      Haha I promise that this car is within my budget. Regardless, it's the choice I'm going with. And I can easily swap back and forth, especially for track days.

    So is the GT350R a daily driver?

    • @Paul-ne9sf
      @Paul-ne9sf 4 года назад

      Yes it is if your roads are good. If you live in NY or Chicago you should go with the 350. If you live in Utah Arizona the R. I live in Texas so you may have to go with Raptor in East Texas and R in West Texas where it's all open.

      No. The 2017 has nothing but the 2019 has cross-traffic sensors in case someone drives behind as it backed up. Nothing in the way of proximity to curbs though.

      I don't have any complaints with how my clutch feels right now, so nope. For some reason it's feels better than the earlier 2016/2017s I've driven, I know they made a change in 2019 so that wouldn't have effected mine.

    I try to tell people high hp engines burn oil. The F150 5.0 engine is a high hp truck engine. If GM 6.2 truck engine made 1.30 hp per cuin. It would make 491 hp.
