Let’s say your Mercedes S-Class or BMW 7-series is starting to feel a little bit ordinary, there are too many Bentleys at the country club, what do you do? You commission a Rolls Royce.
Even though the Ghost is technically the entry-level Rolls Royce, it is just absolutely phenomenal. The new Ghost is completely updated, with only the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament and umbrellas found in the doors carried over from the first generation. You easily can option a Ghost to over $400,000, and while that is a staggering amount of money, to the target customer this level of luxury, refinement, isolation and attention to detail is absolutely worth it.
The new Ghost Illuminated Fascia is one of the most unique and detailed touches in any vehicle ever. It took over 2 years and 10,000+ hours to develop, composed of over 850 “stars” shining through the passenger side dashboard. The “GHOST” lettering is actually formed by more than 90,000 laser etched dots across the surface.
Even though this was not a Black Badge model, I was extremely impressed with how well it drove, handling its size and weight in all sorts of driving situations. Even though it is nearly 3 tons, we have a near 50/50 weight distribution and rear wheel steering. The remarkable planar suspension technology also ensures the Ghost is always composed and comfortable. The body is always kept level, we have the world’s first upper wishbone dampers, plus cameras that scan the road and prepare the suspension and a satellite aided transmission to ensure it is always in the right gear for upcoming turns. Smooth is an understatement, the Ghost simply wafts along.
The isolation from the outside world is remarkable, thanks to over 100kg of acoustic damping materials. The obsession with eliminating unacceptable noise even extends to polishing the inside of the air conditioning ducting to reduce wind noise. During development, it was found that the vehicle was actually too quiet, which was disorientating to occupants. So they created a “whisper”, a soft undertone where components in the car share a common resonate frequency.
After spending a week living with the Rolls Royce Ghost, I was absolutely in love. How could I not be? The most relaxing and serene daily driver you can imagine, fantastic to drive and be driven in. It draws attention, but in a classy and elegant way. And if you are commissioning one of these, the bespoke options are seemingly endless.

Thank you for the video Eddie. Might I have a selfish suggestion, your videos are to the point with excellent details however when reviewing a car like the Ghost the occasional silence of listening just to the car is just as important.

There are always value propositions when it comes to everything in life. I find that getting the second best of something is usually the best way to go. Graphics cards, phones, cars, etc... You get 85 - 90% of the performance/experience for almost 50% of the price. That being said, Rolls Royce vehicles are just amazing! I completely understand why people buy them. Good tax write-offs too.

Why would anyone get an EWB Ghost when the Phantom exists??

The Ghost is a lot less expensive, has AWD, a different design (less negative wedge - i.e. the back doesn't slope down like the Phantom), and the Ghost EWB is still 8 inches shorter than the standard Phantom.

I drive a Ghost a number of years ago and the chrome around the ceiling controls was plastichrome and felt super cheap. The Phantom is the way to go.

It's an impressive car and that Spirit of Ecstasy is hard to beat. However, the door mirrors are horrendous, awfully large, better suited to a truck.
I mean it does have the curb weight close to most trucks 😅

All that attention to detail in the interior ensures perfection of design then Apple CarPlay completely ruins it.
I'd prefer a gently used Phantom over this.

Finally someone said it, tolls Royce is by far the most overrated Luxery there is. Bentley is much much better in every way possible. IMO looks better, is sportier, better tech, sounds great, performance is there, and super Luxurious. For HALF THE PRICE TOO.
Not a proper comparison probably and generally if you have to question it, probably not their target customer (that’s okay). A Hyundai Ioniq 5 has more tech than a Bentley Continental. It’s probably more like comparing a Rolex to a Patek or A. Lange & Söhne. A Patek Calatrava looks like your grandfather’s watch and a Rolex Daytona Panda type is much more sexy to the average young guy. But Rolls Royce is targeting customers that already wore Calatrava, Loro Piana, and Brunello Cucinelli the last few generations. Old money. Currently Bentley is falling into the crowd that wants to look rich and wear Hermes and Balenciaga. RR isn’t interested in that crowd. Bentley had the Mulsanne for that crowd but that’s gone now. I was not impressed with the photos of the Cullinan but I see with people in Bentaygas all the time. Until someone showed up in a Cullinan in my building. Not even close in how imposing the Cullinan is vs the Bentayga (both SWB and LWB).

@@etaesu83 I don’t like the Chiron much either. Or Casios, if we’re talking features then let’s be a realistic and say how it how it is. A rolls simply lacks in comparison to its competition and charges the premium even though it lacks behind.
Hey Eddie, you need to show more of your sense of humor. Your reviews are pretty bland like a journalist yet you’re your own boss. There’s no lol in your auto vids. You know why Chris Harris is so beloved? It’s not so much about his drifts. It’s his self deprecating humor and British sarcasm.
